Standing Stones Achievement

  • Standing Stones

    Find 13 Standing Stones

There are 13 "standing stones" in all, which allows your character to carry one blessing with them until they overwrite it at another stone. Simply walk up to them, activate them and they the effects of it will work for you.

Before I delve into the locations, it's worth noting that I hadn't visited all 13 when I got the achievement, so I assume it counted every time I revisted them. Regardless, the locations of the 13 are as follows:

    - The Thief Stone – Stealth skills learnt 20% faster
    - The Mage Stone – Magic skills learnt 20% faster
    - The Warrior Stone – Combat skills learnt 20% faster
Southwest of Riverwood, below a place called Anise's Cabin. Shouldn't miss them as you leave Helgen.

    - The Ritual Stone – Once a day can reanimate nearby corpses to fight for them.
East of Whiterun slightly south of the river, between Whiterun and Valtheim Towers.

    - The Atronach Stone – Larger pool of Magika and absorb spell damage, but recover it more slowly.
The best way to describe this is between Riften and Windhelm, in the marshland. It's closer to Windhelm than Riften and just the otherside of the mountain range in between the two. It's near the Eldergleam Sanctuary and the Darkwater Crossing (by the river) to the east of the two.

    - The Shadow Stone – Once a day players can become invisible for an extended period.
South of Riften, in the small mountain in the middle before the big mountain range to the south.

    - The Steed Stone – Can carry more and don't suffer a movement penalty from armour.
On the tip of the highest mountain to the mountain, northwest of Solitude.

    - The Lady Stone – Regenerate health and stamina more quickly.
In the lake to the west of Riverwood is a small island where you'll find this stone.

    - The Apprentice Stone – recover magicka more quickly, but are more susceptible to magika damage.
Just south of Solitude, on an island in the small water marshland, you'll find this stone.

    - The Tower Stone – Automatically open Expert or lower locks.
Smack bang in the middle of Winterhold and Dawnstar, up on a mountain.

    - The Lover Stone – All skills improve faster.
Directly east of Markarth, about one fifth of the way to Solitude.

    - The Lord Stone – More resistant to magika and physical damage.
Southwest of Dawnstar in the mountain range, on the northern peak.

    - The Serpent Stone - Use a ranged paralyzing poison on an opponent once a day.
Directly east of Winterhold and north of Windhelm. In the sea on a floating iceberg of sorts.

  • 13 out of a total of 14? This is gonna be a pleasureble hide and seek ^^
  • There are 14? I always thought it was one for every month + the Serpent. Could be totally wrong though, ahaha. Nonetheless, I can't wait to get my hands on this game.
  • This is easy, as the map that ships with the game has them marked on with little crosses! Hope this helps everyone , I just noticed while waiting for big bang theory to d/l!
  • well thank you that saves me time searching the internet !
  • There are at least 16 - maybe more.
  • There are 13.
  • Hm.. I don't know if it will happen to others, but it seems that visiting the first Stones (guardian stones) multiple time, you can earn the achievement. At least, it unlocked for me...
  • i've only found 8 stones but in my menu it says i've found 12 so i guess don't have to find them all
  • @7 that just happened to me as well. i think i've "found" only 4 or 5 but i just fast traveled back to the guardian stones (which i had done a few times previously) and the achievement unlocked. weird lol.
  • i can confirm this achievement is indeed glitched. all you have to do is visit the stones 13 times, not find all 13. just keep fast traveling to stones you already found every so often and it will pop. it did for me. (my gamercard on this site is not updated for some reason, it's about 3000 points and 3 months off).
  • @10 i'm pretty sure the reason why ur score hasn't updated (and everyone elses) is cause the site that does them/controls them has closed down :(
  • @11 thank you, i was wondering why my gamercard hasnt updated
  • I was wondering that for the longest of time. Thx comment #12. I also want to say I only found a total of 7/13 stones needed and got the achievement when I went back to the guardian stones. (Wanted to switch to thief stone since I am doing all the thieves guide quests first).
  • My game was bugged and I ended up finding 34 throughout the course of the game so....
  • I have found 15 standing stones.
  • Where are all of the standing stones?
  • THis achievment is weird i found like 11 stones then went to the guardian stones at the beggining area and the achievment unlocked, even though i had already found those stones. It may be neccessary to return to stones for this.
  • This achievement glitched for me as well. I only found 10 and i fast travelled to a standing stone i previously found and the achievement popped up. Not that i'm complaining mind you... lol
  • Somehow I got this one while only finding 7 of them. I'm not going to complain but it was wierd.
  • It's somewhat glitched, I had mine pop after finding 9. It seems just stumbling upon the same one repeatedly also works. (Unless they patched it already in 1.3, cant confirm).
  • A little tip, look at the map that comes with the game, them little X's are where the standing stones are located. Hope this helped.
  • well some spots have more than one stone. like warrior, mage, thief in the same area. so im not sure about those ones.
  • Glitchy, easy to get agree wuth #7 and #10
  • I just found this, thought i would try it so that i can confirm that this still works after the 1.3 does. To all who wish, take another few visits to the guardian stones.
  • just did it and visiting the guardian stones worked for me..... WINNING =]
  • every time you visit the guardian stones it counts for find 3 at a time
  • that would explain why i only have 6 standing stones on my map, but my stats say ive found 10, i even spent like 10 minutes scanning every single icon on my map just to make sure
  • It's not like it counts EVERY time, but occasionally it glitches up and gives you extra credit. It seems as if visiting the Guardian Stones boosted me, as I have 7 discovered stones but I'm listed as having visited 10.
  • If anyone actually wants to find all 13 stones, this guide is pretty good.
  • @29 Thanks
  • I find it incredibly strange, that I've found 15 Standing Stones, and they're all accounted for on my map. Is this just happening to me, or have anyone else found more than 13 Stones too?
  • Confirmed still working as on 01/09/2012
  • I've found 15 standing stones. There is obviously more then 13.
  • Theres a glitch that allows to to unlock the achievement even if you revisit the same standing stone over and over again. In effect just go to the first 3 you find in the beginning and keep pressing them. Achievement unlocks in seconds....
  • The thing with this is, there are 13 stone locations but 16 stones. 3 at the Guardian stones. And just search up Skyrim map on the internet and discover stone locations in game, no need to activate them.
  • You don't need to actually activate and/or accept their signs. Achievement unlocked as soon as 13th stone was discovered
