    Get married

Well, despite only being worth 10G, it’s a bit of a rigmarole to get this achievement. Firstly, you have to head to Riften and speak to Maramal, who’ll be found inside the Temple of Mara, by the Thieves Guild’s back door. Ask him about the Temple (“I would like to know more about the temple”) then question marriage in Skyrim (“I could have a wedding at the temple?”) to which you follow up with “No, Not really.” Eventually he’ll offer to sell you the Amulet of Mara which you buy, equip and then get pulling.

You basically have to find someone who’s “interested” and then head to the temple to initiate the wedding. It’s easier than it sounds. This isn’t everyone either, so here’s a list (non-exhaustive) of people you can marry… if you can marry them, they’ll notice the amulet and say “Interested in me, are you?”:

    • Ysolda, Whiterun
    • Camilus Valerius, Riverwood
    • Muiri, Markarth
    • Shahvee, outside Windhelm
    • Derkeethus, Darkwater Pass
    • Wilhelm, Ivarstead.
Comments
  • I will marry a dragon.
  • And then murder your wife...
  • Cost?
  • Fable, is that you?
  • @4 My thoughts exactly.
  • @2 Ha! This is great
  • NO, this is a dealbreaker. May as well just give all your gold to a peasant and chop your cock off.
  • Marrying is something I wanted from Oblivion, good to see I can have a character that doesn't have to be entirely focused on combat, that's something I tried to pull off in Oblivion.
  • This is the only way that your playthrough will truely end in Skyrim lol
  • You're just about to slay a dragon and all of a sudden your wife pulls you home for tea.
  • I wonder if your wife will complain about you playing to many video games. Then I can hear it in steareo... :(
  • lol @ 11
  • I got married for real, why on earth would I carry that over to video games!?!
  • @11 lol. So true. If it is anything like a real marriage than yes.
  • wonder if you can have kids (no fable reference intented), imagane that, kids; in FIRST PERSON!!!
  • first thought? get a lesbian couple :3
  • Can i marry with a different race then have kids? Brb half orc half argonians running around.
  • I was going to play as an argonian male...well at least I wouldn't mind getting married in this game since the female characters look more appealing, unlike the ugly imbred "women" from Oblivion that all had the exact same figure when they were stripped down to their underwear (I was a thief so I looted EVERYTHING! lol). I wonder what happens if they die? Can you lead them around like you could in Fable?Do you get benefits for marrying a countess!?
  • I just hope the devs had fun with it, making different scenarios and reactions from the general public based on the races and sexes. And I want to bring back my spouse as a zombie and parade her around town. Give me my bisexual zombie vampire Argonian midget bride, Bethesda, or else you're breaking my immersion!!!1
  • really cant wait to get this one
  • Can we bring back Antoinetta Marie for this xD
  • So... will my Argonian be able to marry a blond, busty northern broad?
  • lol wow to all of your comments... how many of you are giddy little 12 year olds?
  • Hmmmm....My thought for this is will there be any hot guys (gals) in it? Though i can't expect Zevran to pop up in Skyrim now can't i?XD
  • @16 i always plays female characters in RPGs so this was my first thought as well @21 this was my second thought after the first!
  • im a male and i always make female characters in oblivion. This new featur makes me want to make a male character now cuz it would be awkward
  • @16 I knew I wasn't alone.
  • Wait what...Could it just be like in oblivion. Or i will marry with an orc!
  • this is new! deja vu Fable 3 !
  • @13 real wives dont give gamer score >.>
  • A taunt achievement for all the single people playing Skyrim? Haha.
  • what the hell?
  • Argonian-khajiit babies!
  • Im gunna marry and then go cheat on her with the girl next door.
  • In my professional opinion, #34 is a complete badass :P
  • OMG i am gunna marry an Argonian while im a nord. BECAUSE I CAN!!!!!!
  • @36 I can imagine the kids big viking looking guys but wait is that a tale or are you happy to see me. @16 oh ya. Or can you have more than one wife bring on the orgy.
  • I actually think this is neat. In Oblivion I had a bunch of homey houses but they were always empty.
  • This will be fun but i rather like to fight agains dragons.
  • Im interested in this to see exactly what effect it has on the game. I don't expect it to be a huge part of events, but at the same time, being Bethesda, I'd expect it to be more than it was in Fable, just a random woman who sits around in one of your houses not doing anything.
  • Lol even if we could have children it wouldn't be possible for argonians and khajits to have children with humans... i dont even think those races can have kids with each other.. it would be wrong. yuck even orcs make me shiver...
  • lmao @13. same here, the only perk of getting married in skyrim is you can kill the bitch if she starts nagging. maybe i'll do that when she's "watching" me play as a hint..... i guess it means in skyrim there will be no hobbies allowed for your character. the game will then consist of sitting at home doing what she orders and looking after the child while she goes shopping or visiting her f*cking annoying friends. i'm so happily married...
  • I am goin to marry a Argonian on my youtube vids
  • so how do you get married? will this only be available later in the game? no way to ask a woman
  • So does anyone know where the amulet is yet?
  • you go and talk to maramal in the bees and the barb in Riften to start it and then buy the amulet off of him for 200 gold pieces
  • Worth doing due to the achievement and free gold/gifts you get from her/him. Hopefully you can get married in all 9 citys for more stuff.
  • As #46 said, you need an amulet of Mora from the bees and the barb. From here you will be able to ask if someone is into you or not, note that not everyone has this option, from my playthrough my housecarl in Morthal is into you and Yaserf (sp?) in Whiterun digs you. (When a male character)
  • This is the worst achievement ever!
  • Not played many games then spankmymonkeyz if you think that.
  • lol
  • this is the worst achievement ever! cant wait to get married and wait for the sweet release of a murder suicide.
  • Hmmm, be miserable in RL and my video game life? I dont think so. Atleast I can mute this wife or at the very least smash her face in with my warhammer.
  • I married a fox... because she was.... foxy..... ahhahahahah. Oh god someone kill me now
  • i cant get maramia to appear in the bee and the barb, any tips?
  • and thus starts the search for the "Lusty Argonian Maid" lol. search it on google if u havent noticed or read that book in the game.
  • I tried this the other night several times but it glitched on me. Gonna have to wait for the patch to update the game or maybe just try again with a different character. Basically a dead companion appears in the room and destroys your marriage. I suppose this is alright if none of your companions die but I've had a bad habit of having them die on me.
  • The idiot does not appear in the bee and bard what do I do to start this achievement
  • I've tried doing this 20 times and every time I return within the time period and enter the temple it auto fails. One of the last 2 few I need and game glitches out on me.
  • @59 the guy can also be found in the temple of mara just up the road from the bee and barb
  • Same problem dead companion shows up and ruins everything......This is weak.
  • once i got 3200 coins from my wife
  • How in the hell do i get a divorce? Ive tried killin her but she freakin lives on.
  • This is one of the only achievements that is giving me a problem, I have the amulet, I wear the amulet and still I don't have any options to ask if someone is interested, I'm assuming my game is glitched... -.-
  • I got my companion in Solitude to marry me
  • Saved it first, got the ach the reloaded it
  • you can ask the girl in the store at Riverwood, I wish that I did this achievement earlier, b/c it would have helped to get the 100k gold achievement,; since your spouse gives you 100 gold per day, which can be gathered whenever you visit them
  • I got married.... use to be happy till i took an arrow in the knee
  • the man named "Maramal" is the person that you buy the amulet from after you ask him about mara and weddings. the temple is located just near the town center where everyone sells shit
  • on lvl41, been wearing the amulet the whole time. WHY WON'T ANYONE MARRY ME!!!
  • Just found this out 'As of the initial release there are NO Khajiit or Bosmer (Wood Elf) characters that the player can marry'. Playing this whole time with my Bosmer Theif. Lucky I had another character leveled
  • I'm going to have my Khajiit marry and Argonian, think of the kids. O_O
  • @71 For me I just went to a pawn shop in one of the towns you first discover and the pawn shops owners daughter had a different speech thing for me it was her basically saying she likes me well me being a girl irl and in game I choose no not all all when she asked if I liked her back xD Other answer was Yes, yes I do in case you were wondering
  • i tryed with little progress but can some one tall me how do i get married?
  • and this is how the adventure would really end. you save the world and she still wont let you go drinking with you dark brotherhood freinds
  • easiest one ever
  • How do you marry somebody in the game?
  • Did the quest for Mjoll the Lioness & was able to marry her. The only downside is comes with her friend, but I can bring her along and ignore him. Plus, she has a much better house in Riften.
  • I had a Nord Imperial Lesbian Wedding
  • LMFAO at #55!!
  • OMG how many fellas on here have my issues with there wives and playing games lol but again just told the wife about the comments on here and she pissed her self laughing and said it's true lol
  • what happens if you sell the amulet before you realize you need it for this achievement?
  • @#83 buy it back
  • Well Well Well. This seems to be a very male discussion. Thank god im not like some of your wives. I play xbox, I dont nag because my felle does what i ask. And we bought two xboxes for our house in the interest of keeping our relationship. My My My!!!!
  • Kajhiit marriage IS POSSIBLE If you don't mind being gay see Valcis of companions
  • My old lady doesn't let me play, I have to wait for her to go to the store so I can get my xbox on. Will my Skyrim wife tell my real wife on me? What if the two of them meet at the Riverwood salon? I dont know if all this is worth 10g
  • @71 because youre fat... do some pushups and maybe you can get a date...
  • Aela would get it...
  • lol @ #71, forever alone...
  • @#86 where do you find Valcis?
  • yay now i got some bitch to do the washing up and cooking for me... im like ''go make me a sandwich im hungry bitch''
  • This should be listed as "missable" or "glitched" achievement, as Wood Elves can't marry. Of course I picked a Wood elf. #ForeverAlone
  • r they going to add kids
  • I'm gonna take my time on this
  • As a female Nord this took me all of ten minutes to complete. 1. Head to Riften (fast travel to the thieves guild entrance) and enter the Temple of Mara. 2. Chat up Maramal (ask for more info on the temple and then about marriage). If he's not there he'll be in the tavern in town; Bee and Barb. 3. Buy the Amulet of Mara from him. (200gp) 4. Exit the temple and fast travel to Whiterun. 5. Find Ysolda, talk to her about being interested and agree to marry. 6. Head back to the Temple of Mara and get married. 7. ???? 8. Profit.
  • I remember this taking me like 6 hours because the game was broken, good times.
  • Haha .. I love this Achievement. Cheers
  • I can't kill my wife!!!
  • I dont know how to get the ACHIEVMENT.
  • easyyy. i married vorstag from markarth.
  • Hi I'm trying to trade my extra skyrim download code for 2800 Microsoft points but you have to live in Canada add me if you want to trade GT:Gladiator291
  • good
  • awesome achievement
  • Too bad my wife never shuts up. I keep her at a house i don't visit often.
  • Marry my wife and kill her for her steak
  • Can someone tell me the best options for a gay male partner to marry?
  • Can i marry my adopted child?
  • Step to Step guide: Go to Riften Wait until nighttime Go to the bee and barb (a big building in the marketplace). Speak to a monk named Maramal if you van have a wedding at the temple Buy an amulet of Mara Go to Whiterun Speak to Ysolda in the marketplace (wait until 10am) Ask if she is looking to become a merchant Agree to find a mammoth tusk Head up the stairs to the big tree Turn left so you are looking at a boat like building called Jorrvaskr Turn left once inside. Shut the door. Sneak and steal a mammoth tusk of the desk Return to Ysolda Wear your amulet of mara Ask if she is interested Agree to be married Return to Riften Turn left from the bee and barb into an opening guarded by two guards Enter the temple of Mara Locate Maramal, the monk Ask to have a weddin
  • Hey everyone, just a quick video for unlocking this acheivement. All you really need to do is wear an amulet of Mara, which you can buy in the temple of Mara in Riften or find randomly, then talk to any of the eligible partners. When you talk with them, they'll say "wanna get married?" , say yes, then talk to the priest in Riften to set up the ceremony. It takes place the next day, and viola, married. Hope the video helps! https://youtu.be/yfHc0EWX4uk
