Introduction:

F1 2013 is the fourth game in the series since Codemasters have taken on the license and along with the obvious annual tweaks there is a new section of the game this year based on years gone by and it is Classic Mode. Aside from this the achievements are very similar to last year’s game.

This is slightly harder than last year’s game and Codemasters seem to have squeezed the target lap times down in Time Attack Mode.

The online part of the game only requires you to win 1 race, although you do have to compete in 50 races in total and there is as in previous years a co-op season to play online.


Abbreviated Walkthrough:

Young Drivers Test, 4 achievements – 70
When you first start the game you will be given the chance to play the Young driver test, you can also come back to the driver tests at any time during the game via the menu from the main screen.
Young driver tests are fairly simple little tasks to get you used to driving an F1 car.

If you played last year’s game you will have the chance to skip day 1, you do not want to do this as you need to complete day one testing for “Training Day”. Once you have completed all the tasks and got gold you will get “Schools Out”, “Golden Child” and “Going for Gold”.

Season Challenge Year 1, 8 achievements – 140
For your first season, start on easy difficulty and ease your way into the game. Choose a team to race for, it does not matter who just who you like and choose your first rival again choose anyone but ideally someone in a good team. You will need to finish ahead of you rival in the first 2 races (“Nemesis”) and then accept the contract offer, now when you select your next rival make sure you choose someone from the team that you just left and you will unlock “Back to the Beginning”. After this you can choose any rival just keep beating them for “Unrivalled”, you should win the championship in this first season “Winning” and along the way you should also unlock “Achiever” and “Podium Finish”. Also as the qualifying for this mode is one shot qualifying you should also get “The Heat is On” and “It Only Takes One Shot”.

Season Challenge Year 2, 2 Achievements – 50
You will need to start this season on hard difficulty meaning your choice of teams is limited at the start. You will be aiming for “Trading Places” and “Hardcore Champion”. You will again be looking to beat every rival by 2-0 and keep moving teams, you will need to drive for 5 different teams and win the championship again. This is not as difficult as it first appears and is easier if you get your tactics right during the whole season. You have to remember if you take on a rival and win he will miss 2 races when you are driving his car, so even if he has a slight lead in the championship you have 2 free races to make points back on him.

In my season I started with Caterham and choose Paul Diresta as my first rival, beat him and chose Felipe Massa as my second, beat him and chose Sebastian Vettel as my third, beat him and chose Lewis Hamilton as my fourth, I beat him and the achievement popped although there were still 2 races remaining no one could catch me.

Season Challenge year 3, 1 Achievement – 15
This is not really a play through and should take around half an hour, you are going for “Family Ties” you can either race and stay with the same team all season by beating rivals and rejecting contract offers, or if you are in a hurry just keep quitting out of qualifying and the race, you will lose every race but this does not matter.


Time Trial 3 Achievements – 75
Your only goal here is to set a clean lap on each of the 21 tracks, clean laps mean not cutting corners or going off the track too much. You have to set clean times at the 19 regular season tracks and then the 2 classic tracks, these 2 classic tracks must be done with the Ferrari 312 T2 for “These Cars are Laud!”. Once you have set clean laps at 5 tracks you will get “5 Star Rating” and finally once all are done “Tried and Tested”.

Time Attack 3 Achievements – 100
This is the hardest part of the game and will take you, time and patience to get “Gold Fever” and “Always Believe in Yourself” which are for getting the gold standard times on 7 different tracks. There are some videos below thanks to “o H i T M a N z” for those. You will get “Times are Good” just for registering a time on all the time attack tracks.

Career Year 1 8 Achievements – 195
This is the main part of the game and also probably the most time consuming as you have a minimum race distance of 25% (13-18 laps) this year. If you completed everything with gold in Young drivers test then you can drive for Lotus in your first year which I advise doing as you team mate will score some points and help towards “Constructors World Champion”. For your first race set the qualifying to long weekend and the race distance to 100%, you are looking to set the fastest lap time in Practice, Qualifying 1, 2 and 3 and also the race for “Pole Position” and “Rule the Roost”, whilst completing the race at this distance will also unlock “Formula One Driver”. Once you have completed for first race you can lower the race distance back to 25% if you want and continue your career. When you find a track you are very quick at you can try for “Back to Front” and also along the way you should also get “You Hit Nothing”. Just after or around Monza if you have continued to win races you will get an offer to drive for another team, this will be an offer that wants you to go straight away and drive for them as this will unlock “The World is Your Oyster”. If you have continued to win you should get “Drivers World Champion” for winning the champion ship. Also towards the end of the season you will get further contract offers, you should accept a contract from Caterham or Marussia as the number 1 driver and get ready for next season which is a lot quicker.


Career Year 2 1 Achievement – 5
This season will be as quick as you can and should only need you to win 1 race, you want to qualify as well as you can and go for the win in the first race of the season, at least finish in the top three. This way you team mate will never catch you in the best of 5 team mate challenge. From race 2, you can just keep retiring at the start if you wish and then as the number 1 Driver you will make all the decisions on R & D Testing, you should get 2 emails about the direction to take and then an email around Singapore to end R & D or carry on, End it for “This Time Next Year”.


Scenario Mode 6 Achievements – 135
Scenario mode can be found in proving grounds and sends you through a series of challenges like, stop for tyres and the catch you team mate or manage tyres to the end of the race, you can attempt these at Bronze, Silver or Gold difficulty but for “Gold Digger” you will need to do them at gold difficulty. You will get “Medal of Honour” for the first medal you earn and you will also unlock “Rookies and Cream”, “Showdown”, “Driven”, “The Good Old Days” for completing each section of challenges.



Multiplayer:
Co-op Season 2 Achievements – 75
This can be boosted with a friend or you may find someone in the trading thread here. You will need to win the Drivers and Constructors Championship for “Co-op Drivers World Champion” and “There’s no I in Team” to unlock. If you are boosting this it can be achieved for both people in one season using the technique from last year.

Both players should trade wins back and forth to keep the points very close to each other. Now, on the last race, have the host quit out, and the other player will finish the race to get the achievement. Once this is done, invite the other player back in, and let the host finish the race in first, making sure to win by enough points to beat the other human player.

Online Mode 3 Achievements – 90
Online mode is very straight forward again this year and only requires you win 1 race for “A Break From Testing”, this has to be raced at Jerez and with a Classic car but can also be boosted with a friend.

The longest part of online is getting 50 completed races for “Online Obsession” and Online Addiction”, Co-op seasons count but split screen do not, although they show up in the multiplayer race counter.

Split Screen Mode 2 Achievements – 25
This is where you will need that extra controller and you will need to just complete 3 races in this mode for “Split Mode Squad”. In this mode you can also earn “Who Needs Assists?” and it is by far the easiest place to do it.

Mop-Up:
General Play 2 Achievements - 25
Depending on which in race view you use you may already have this, if not you will just need to complete 10 races using the cockpit view for "Eyes of The Beholder" and also within one race during career or a Grand Prix you will need to perform a mid session save for "My Saviour".

Conclusion:
So there we have it, if you have followed my Road map and Guide to the letter you should have an extra 1000 on your card. This game is tough but with patience and learning of the tracks it is a rewarding completion.

You do not need the Classic edition of the game to achieve 1000 on this game.

I have seen a few people report glitched achievements but a lot of them seem to be forgetting about the Classic mode which needs completing also.

  • School's Out

    You have successfully completed all of the Young Driver Tests.

    (1)

    There are 11 Young driver tests spread over 2 days, They start with driving in a straight line reaching a set speed and stopping in a huge box, upto the final test which is 2 laps of Yas Marina Circuit in under 3 Minutes & 35 Seconds.

    You are able to Pause and restart the test or wait untill the end and press to retry if you make a mistake, you can also use flashbacks.

  • Going for Gold

    You have earned a gold medal in a Young Driver Test.

  • The Golden Child

    You have earned a gold medal in each Young Driver Test.

  • The Heat is On

    You have set a valid lap time in One-Shot Qualifying.

    When you play a season challenge, once you have selected your rival you will be taken to the qualification for the Grand Prix, and this will be "One Shot Qualifying".

    You basically have one chance at setting a lap time and you must not cut corners, you must stay on the track.

    You do not need pole position for this achievement just to finish the lap. You can use flashback if you make a mistake.

  • It Only Takes One Shot

    You have taken pole position in One-Shot Qualifying.

    When you play a season challenge, once you have selected your rival you will be taken to the qualification for the Grand Prix, and this will be "one Shot Qualifying".

    You basically have one chance at setting a lap time and you must not cut corners, you must stay on the track.

    You need pole position for this achievement, meaning you are the fastest car and to help you out you will see a ghost lap of the leading car, so if you beat the ghost you will get Pole Position.

    You are able to use flashbacks if you need to and you can change the AI difficulty in race setting within the menus.

  • FORMULA ONE Driver

    You have completed your first 100% race in Career or Grand Prix.

    You can get this in Career on a single Grand Prix race.

    Within Career mode there is a tab for settings, click on this and then onto race setting and there is a slider bar to set race distance move this all the way to the right untill it says 100%.

    In Grand Prix Mode again set the race distance to 100% and choose which track to race on.

    Once you have qualified start the race but beware this will take the best part of 1 hour 45 mins to complete.

    This does not have to be done in one sitting, you can use a mid session save and it does not effect the achievement, and you will also unlock "My Saviour" if you have not already done so.


    You must finish the race DSQ or Crashing does not work.

  • You Hit Nothing!

     

    15

    You have completed a Career race without colliding with another car or object.

    This is easiet done on a short 25% race distance, it helps to qualify on Pole Position and get a good start, you should not even see another car for the whole race and as long as you do not hit any barriers or signage you will get the achievement at the end of the race.

    USA is a good track for this as there are few barriers.

  • Podium Finish

     

    20

    You finished a race in the top three in Career or Season Challenge.

    This will come within your first few races and can be done on any difficulty level, just finish the race 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

  • Who Needs Assists?

     

    15

    You won a race with all driver assists disabled.

    The easiest way to get this is to go into multiplayer and split screen mode, in the settings menu turn all driver assists off.

    In race settings menu you will need AI to be turned off so that it is just you and your second controller racing.

    You will need to beat the second controller to get the achievement.

    If you are playing on you own with 2 controllers once you have finished you will need to complete on lap on the second controller to finish the race.

  • Eyes of the Beholder

    You have completed 10 races using only the cockpit camera.

    Cockpit view can be accessed via the race settings screen or just before the start of the race you can cycle through the views using the until you come the cockpit view, this is the one that looks most like you are driving the car.

    Use this view for 10 complete races.

  • Pole Position

     

    15

    You have taken pole position in Career.

    This will come in time you have to be the quickest car in the 3rd and final qualification period, you can also get this achievement by using "One Shot Qualifing" in Career mode.

  • Split Mode Squad

     

    10

    You have completed three races in Split Screen.

    (2) 

    This needs to be done with a second controller, from the start screen go to multiplayer, then split screen and race 3 times against a friend or yourself.

    If you are racing by yourself once you have finished the race you will need to complete one lap with the second contoller to end the race, or you can crash into a barrier with full damage settings on.

  • Achiever

     

    20

    You passed all of your objectives over a race weekend in Season Challenge.

    When you start a race in season challenge you will be given a position that your team expect you to finish in for qualifying and the same for the race itself.

    Also you will have your rival to beat, You must match or exceed these expectations on all parts of the weekend for the achievement.

  • Nemesis

    You have beaten your first rival in Season Challenge.

    When you start a season challenge for the first time you have to select a rival before you are allowed to race.

    The season challenge is a best of three matchup against the rival you select and is determined by your finishing place in the race only.

    If you beat your rival in the first 2 races that is that rival beaten.

  • Unrivaled

     

    20

    You have beaten four rivals in one season in Season Challenge.

    You will need to beat each rival by 2 races to nil and keep selecting new rivals, and beating these by 2 races to nil as well, if you do not win 2 races to nil then you will run out of races to select new rivals.

  • Family Ties

     

    15

    You stayed with the same team through the whole season in Season Challenge.

    This can be done at the same time as "Unrivaled", when you beat one of your rivals you will need to reject the contract offer, and select another rival.

    Stay with your staring team for all 10 races.

    You can also get this achievement by retiring from every qualification and race, your rivals will win every head to head but you can finish the season in 30 minutes.

  • Back to the Beginning

     

    10

    You returned to your starting team in Season Challenge.

    You must return to the team you started the season racing for, so if you started with Ferrari you must race against for example Vettel and win then when you select a new rival choose Alonso or Massa as your new rival, beat either of these and acept the contract offer from Ferrari.

  • Trading Places

     

    20

    You raced for five different teams in Season Challenge in a single season.

    This can be done at the same time as "Unrivaled", when you beat one of your rivals you will need to acept the contract offer, and select another rival.

    Move team after each lot of 2 races. For this achievement you will need to beat your rival by 2 races to nil very time to have enough races to drive for 5 teams.

    You also have to race for 5 different teams and cannot go back to one you have previously been with.

  • Winning!

     

    30

    You have won the Drivers' Championship in Season Challenge.

    This is for finishing top of the standing after all 10 races have been completed.

    If you are struggling the try starting on Easy difficulty.

  • Hardcore Champion

    You have won the Drivers' Championship in Season Challenge on hard difficulty.

    This is not as difficult as it first appears and is easier if you get your tactics right during the whole season.

    You have to remember if you take on a rival and win he will miss 2 races when you are driving his car, so even if he has a slight lead in the championship you have 2 free races to make points back on him.

    I chose Vettel and Hamilton because at the time they were closet to me in the
    standings, yours will be different and you should choose carefully.

    Also another point on Season Challenge is don’t be afraid to push and shove other cars, it seems to be easier getting away with contact, and flags don’t seem to be as strict for some reason, blocking a lot seems to be fine if you can manage to get yourself up near the front of the field.

    If you are being over taken it will generally be people at the top of points, so another trick is at the last second block them and they will have to brake hard and this may force them to drop back a few places allowing you to get more points than them, also another tip if you are in top 3 in the race brake hard on last corner and block as much as you can so the others all bunch up letting the slower drivers potentially past them.

    If you get caught for any contact or blocking then remember to use your flashbacks.

  • This Time Next Year...

    You elected to end R&D on the current seasons car in Career.

    To be given the chance to end R & D early you will need to be number one driver which means you will not get this untill season number 2, If you have out performed your team mate during season 1 you will be given the number 1 driver title, this will be in season 2 and can be as quick as you like.

    You should only need you to win 1 race, you want to qualify as well as you can and go for the win in the first race of the season, at least finish in the top three. This way you team mate will never catch you in the best of 5 team mate challenge. From race 2, you can just keep retiring at the start if you wish and then as the number 1 Driver you will make all the decisions on R & D Testing, you should get 2 emails about the direction to take and then an email around Singapore to end R & D or carry on, End it for the achievement.

  • Rule the Roost

    You set the fastest lap time in every session of a long race weekend in Career.

    To get a long weekend in career mode you have to select it in the race setting and then you will need to be the fastest car in Practice, Qualifying 1, Qualifying 2, Qualifying 3, and Fastest lap of the race.

    I am not sure if you need to win the race, I did and if you set the fastest times in all of those sessions then you should be able to win anyway.

    In Practice and qualifying rather than skip to the next session it is best to just accelerate tim by pressing .

  • Back to Front

     

    20

    You qualified last, but finished first in Career.

    You can either take part in qualifying or skip straight into the race and start in 22nd position, you must race your way to the front and win the race, on easy difficulty this is staright forward and you have around 15 laps in most races to do it in.

  • The World is your Oyster

    You moved to another team mid-season in Career.

    Depending on how you are doing in your season you should at some point see the far left tab "contract offers" light up with a 1, this needs to be accepted and it also needs to be an offer to drive for the new team straight away.

    I did not want to move from my team, but after race 10 and having won every race i was ofered a drive at Ferrari so i created a backup save on a memory stick and accepted the offer, got the achievement and reloaded my old save, so that i could continue my season.

  • Drivers' World Champion

    You have won the Drivers' Championship in Career on any difficulty.

    You have to have the most points at the end of the season, based on how you finish in each race.

    You will get this as soon as it is mathamatically impossible for anyone else to win the title.

  • Constructors' World Champion

    You have won the Constructors' Championship in Career.

    Your team have to have the most points at the end of the season, based on how you and your team mate finish in each race.

    You will get this as soon as it is mathamatically impossible for another team to win the title.

  • Five Star Rating

    You have set clean lap times at 5 different circuits in Time Trial.

    Time trial mode can be found in Proving Ground and then Time Trial, you pick a team then a driver which is your choice then a track and finish one clean lap meaning you must stay on the track and not cut corners or hit anything, as soon as you cross the line the time is registered and you can pause and quit to menu.

    You need to do this for 5 of the 21 tracks.

  • Times are Good

    You have posted a time in all of the Time Attack scenarios.

  • Gold Fever

    You have earned a gold medal in all of the Time Attack scenarios.

    This is found in Proving Ground then Time Attack, you will have the choice of which one of the 6 you want to complete and you must beat the Gold time for all 6 track plus the gold time for Jerez track which can be found in classic mode.

    This is found in Proving grounds and there are 4 sets of scenarios to complete, plus the classic three, make sure to use the to tab through untill you are aiming for gold difficulty.

    These scenarios involve things like stop for fresh tyres and then catch 4 cars up or manage tyres to the end of the race, etc.

    You will also have to complete the Classic scenarios section as well for this achievement.

  • Co-op Drivers' World Champion

    You have won the Drivers' Championship in Co-op.

    This is a world championship season with another player over xbox live, you can either be in the same team as each other and atempt "There's No "I" in Team" together or race for different teams and battle it out. You must win the drivers championship though. If you need a partner someone can be found in the trading thread here.

    This can be done in one season using the method from last year which is this:

    Both players should trade wins back and forth to keep the points very close to each other. Now, on the last race, have the host quit out, and the other player will finish the race to get the achievement. Once this is done, invite the other player back in, and let the host finish the race in first, making sure to win by enough points to beat the other human player.

  • There's No "I" in Team

    Similar to "Co-op Drivers' World Champion" but your team must win the constructors championship, this will be fairly easily done if both players are racing for the same team.

    This is found in Multiplayer and can be done in Coop Seasons, online quick races or created matches you do not need to win any races just finish 50 races.

  • Tried and Tested

    You have set a clean lap time for all circuits in Time Trial.

    Time trial mode can be found in Proving Ground and then Time Trial, you pick a team then a driver which is your choice then a track and finish one clean lap meaning you must stay on the track and not cut corners or hit anything, as soon as you cross the line the time is registered and you can pause and quit to menu.

    You need to do this for all 21 of the 21 tracks. There are 19 2013 tracks and 2
    classic tracks which can be found be pressing on the track selection screen.

  • My Saviour

    You have performed a Mid-Session Save.

    Easiest achievement in the game, whilst racing or qualifying pause the game and move down to "Mid Session Save" press and it will autosave and pop the achievement.

  • Rookies and Cream

    You earned a medal in each scenario of Rookie Driver in Scenario Mode.

    See "Gold Digger" for details, Just complete each scenario in this 1st block

  • Showdown

    You earned a medal in each scenario of Team Mate Challenge in Scenario Mode.

    Also note that if you get a message to say that you have played a previous version and would you like to go straight to Day 2 you will have to say no and complete day 1 for this achievement.

  • A Break from Testing

    You have won an online race with a car from the Classic 80's at Jerez.

    Go to Multiplayer, then online and either find or create a race at Jerez, you will be given a choice of cars within the settings menu classic or modern and then win one race, this can of course be boosted with a friend if needed, by setting the race to private.

    You have set clean laps at Brands Hatch and Jerez in Time Trial with the Ferrari 312 T2.

    In the classic section of the game, there is a Time Trial and you will need to set a valid lap, no corner cutting or lots of time of track and it must be done in the Ferrari 312 T2 which you will need to unlock, this can be done by going into My F1, then RaceNet, you will sign in it will give you a new helmet and when you go back to classic mode the Ferrari will be available to drive.

  • Always Believe in Yourself

    You have achieved gold in the Time Attack Classic 80's challenge.

    This is found in the classic section and under time attack.

    This forms part of the other achievement "Gold Fever" and is awarded for
    completing a lap of Jerez in under 1min 19 secs .204 this video shows what you need
    to do.
