Introduction:
Welcome to the wonderful world of Fable Anniversary, which takes place in the beautiful world of Albion. All are welcome here whether if this is your first time playing a Fable game, or if you have played the original Fable that came out on the original Xbox back in 2004. For those who may not know, Fable Anniversary is a HD remaster of the original Fable. Lionhead Studios, the developer of this game, has put together one of the most creative achievement lists of all time that will please both newcomers and Fable veterans alike. It is filled with humor, references (which we have detailed under each achievement for your enjoyment), and you will enjoy getting the achievements for this game.
There are also several achievements that you can unlock in two completely different ways; we have detailed how to unlock these achievements in both ways so that way you can choose the way that you would like to unlock the achievement, or how to do both methods if you enjoy completing everything in a game. In the game, there is a stamp album that you can see which achievements you have unlock as well as what method you used to unlock the achievement. There is also progress counters for several achievements if you would like to know how close you are to earning a certain achievement.
There are three missable achievements that you will want to be aware of: “Are You Not Entertained”, “Combat Evolved”, and “As Quiet As A Whisper”. The “Are You Not Entertained” achievement can only be unlocked at the Arena, “As Quiet As A Whisper” can only be unlocked at certain points of the story, and “Combat Evolved” can be missed as there are a limited number of "Ages of" potions in the game. Please see these achievements for information to make sure that you do not miss them!
Please note that the "See the Future" achievement requires a device compatible with Smartglass as well an an internet connection since it is needed for Smartglass to connect to your console.
Step 1: Story
You will need to do only one playthrough of the game in order to get all of the achievements. There are 15 achievements that you will earn by just completing the game. Make sure that you defeat Whisper once without getting hit for the "As Quiet As A Whisper" and that you do not take a break at The Arena for the "Are You Not Entertained!?" achievement. Also be mindful of your usage of "Ages of..." Potions so you can get the "Combat, Evolved" achievement. Most quest can be completed however you would like, but note that there will be a quest that will require you to do it correctly otherwise you will miss out on an area, a silver key, and a Demon Door. This quest is the Lady Grey quest. The achievements affected by this quest are:
- You Are A Super Player: This achievement is for collecting all of the silver keys. If you expose Lady Grey, you will miss out on a key.
- Open Saysmemiddlefinger: One of the methods to get this achievement is for opening all of the Demon Doors. If you expose Lady Grey, you will miss out on the Demon Door and will have to show one your middle finger.
- Definitely Not On Rails: One of the methods to get this achievement involves visiting every location. If you marry Lady Grey straight away, you will not be able to go into the cellar of the Grey House and will have to become fat.
During the course of your playthrough, Lady Grey will want to meet you. This is a quest, and there are two ways to go about this quest. It is important that you follow this method otherwise you will miss out on all the above. Whilst you can trick your way to the silver key, you can not open the Demon Door next to it and will miss an area later on. The reason for this is that if you marry Lady Grey straight away, you will be able to get the key and the Demon Door, but will not be able to go into Grey House Cellar. If you expose her, you will get access to the Cellar, but not the Silver Key or the Demon Door. Below is a walkthrough of each side to the quest.
Marry: To marry Lady Grey, just go talk to her in Bowerstone North on the northeastern side of the map. She will ask for a gift, so go to the nearby store located in the centre of town, and buy her some Black Roses. She will eventually ask you to find her lost pendant. Go talk to the woman by the fountain who will suggest to talk to everyone. Do so, and eventually you will find out that the pendant is in Oakvale. Go to Oakvale and head towards the Memorial Garden; if you go behind the two guys whispering on to the other side of the wall, they will reveal the location of the pendant. Once done, go the the western beach in Oakvale, and dig between the two upside down boats. Next, teleport back to Bowerstone North and give the pendant back to Lady Grey. It appears that someone also wants Lady Grey's hand in marriage, which means you will have to fight them in a battle to the death. (This method will only get you the Silver Key and the Demon Door in Headman's Hill; you will not have access to Grey House Cellar)
Expose: To expose Lady Grey, go talk to the man in jail in Bowerstone North on the northwestern side of the map; he will tell you some surprising information. Once the conversation is over, go to Barrow Fields, and talk to Rhodri in the southeastern side of the map near the Demon Door. Make your way to Grey House after this, and flash your lamp inside the stables to the right 3 times; the doors to the cellar will open. Once inside the cellar, pick up the piece of paper on the floor. All of a sudden, Lady Grey comes in where you will have to make a choice. If you expose her, you will miss out on the silver key and the Demon Door, but you would have the cellar location unlocked. If you marry her, you will get the key and the Demon Door and have unlocked the cellar location.
It is advisable to start the exposing side of the quest, then at the end, accept Lady Grey's offer and marry her. This way you will get everything. This is for those who want to do everything in the game.
Also, if you want to do the other side of the quest as well, then talk to the man in jail to start the quest. Next, talk to Lady Grey to marry her. Later on, you will be able to have both quests completed.
Besides the missable achievements and the Lady Grey quest, feel free to play the game however you would like to and make choices that you are happy with. This is your adventure, so choose the path that you wish to pursue!
Step 2: Collectibles
There are several achievements related to collecting various things around Albion. As long as you followed the proper steps in the Lady Grey quest, you should be able to obtain all of the collectibles within one playthrough. Each achievement that involves collectibles has a detailed description of where each one is in the game so you can find all of them. Please refer to the following achievements for information on where to find each collectible:
- "But You're A Wizard, Hero" - Magic Spells and Weapon Types
- "Education Rules The Nation" - Books
- "Fable Heroes" - Hero Dolls
- "Get It Off Your Chest" - Silver Chests
- "Horde Mode" - Legendary Weapons
- "Open Saysmemiddlefinger" - Demon Doors
- "Out Of The Frying Pan..." - Treasure Clues (needed in order to find the frying pan)
- "You Are A Super Player" - Silver Keys
If you have Xbox Smartglass, that is very helpful if you would like to have a map to refer to for these achievements.
Step 3: Miscellaneous
There are quite a few achievements in the game that relate to doing a variety of different things all over Albion. These achievements can be worked on at any time, so feel free to try earning them whenever you would like! Some of these are related to choices that you make, and can be unlocked in different ways. The following miscellaneous achievements can be unlocked with two completely different methods:
- "Arthur Or Robin?"
- "Beauty or the Beast"
- "Choosing My Religion"
- "Fight Cluck"
- "For Every Choice, An Achievement"
- "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'"
- "Marital Relations"
- "Project Ego"
- "That's A Real Lunker!"
- "The Drinking Game"
- "The Hero Of Time"
There are also a handful of achievements that are related to doing certain things in combat. I suggest getting the Heal Life, Turncoat, and Summon spells as soon as possible as they are required for achievements. Obtaining a greatsword can also make the combat achievements easier, so if you are struggling, you should try equipping one.
A few achievements related to wearing certain outfits and performing certain tasks with them are also present in the game. Make sure you buy the Assassin outfit at Twinblade's Camp and the dress in Bowerstone South as they will be required for achievements.
Conclusion:
Fable Anniversary is not a difficult 1000, but your journey on the way to earning all of the achievements will be very enjoyable and rather rewarding. I hope you liked playing this game and found our guide helpful!
