Introduction:
Welcome to Far Cry 2. There are 48 achievements for 1000 . You can get all the offline achievements in a single playthrough of the single player campaign taking around 40 hours if you use a map for the collectibles. The online achievements, however, will require a dedicated boosting partner and around 100 hours of boosting, if you want to get them quickly. Multiple that by a factor of four or five if you want to play without boosting. Good luck.

Step 1: Single Player Campaign
The game is divided into two primary segments. In the first half, you're playing in the northern region of the country and the southern half is inaccessible. Part way through the storyline you have to escape to the southern region and you can then move back and forth between the two.

Each region is divided into nine sections, each one being one square kilometer. You want to clear out the collectibles, side missions, and rescues before going through the main storyline. This ensures that you don't accidentally pass a point of no return and that you have plenty of weapons, money, and save points (safe houses) before you embark on the story missions. If you do this in the northern half, you won't need to return once you've escape to the southern half.

There are a number of maps, guides, and walkthroughs for the collectibles in this game, but I strongly recommend this map. You can manually select which type of collectibles (Diamonds, Jackal tapes, safe houses, etc.) you want to display and clicking on a particular one brings up a description of where to find it along with instructions on accessing it if it's one of the ones that can be difficult to get to. You can also check off the items as you find them, so it's easy to keep track of what you've done.

What I did was tackle each square kilometer, finding all of the safe houses, tapes, and diamonds in each one. Once I'd finished the entire region, I had a good sense of how the map was laid out and it was easy to go around and take care of all the cell towers and convoy missions before proceeding through the main story missions. Simply repeat this process when you escape to the southern region and you'll finish all of the single player achievements in a single playthrough. My playthrough took about 45 hours, but I wasn't very efficient in my exploration initially, so I'm sure several hours could get cut off of that time.

Step 2: Online Multiplayer
This is where you'll spend the bulk of the time on this game, even with boosting. Warlord and Soldier of Misfortune are the two achievements that take the longest amount of time. As far as Soldier of Misfortune is concerned, use the checklist in the guide and work your way through all of the weapons. I would do this first as you'll gain experience in the process that can go towards the leveling achievements. It takes 2.5 million experience to reach level thirty for Warlord. There is an experience cap of 1500 XP per match, meaning that you'll lose ALL the experience from any match in which you exceed that amount as soon as you log off, so you need to be careful about not exceeding that number. See the guide for details on how to boost all of the online achievements. Good luck.

Step 3: Celebrate!
Congratulations! You should now have all 1000 on Far Cry 2. Well done!

There are 48 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Kill a Faction Captain in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Aquire all conflict diamonds in the game available through payment or exploration

    *MISSABLE*

There are exactly 1000 diamonds available in the game, but only three ways to get them. The first is exploration. You need to find all 221 diamond briefcases across the game. Each case contains one to three diamonds.  Use the map HERE to keep track of the briefcases as you find them. The second is as payment for doing missions in the main storyline. The reward for each mission ranges from fifteen to forty diamonds. These cannot be missed as long as you finish the story. The third way is as a reward for carrying out the assassination missions from the cell towers. In the northern region of Leboa-Sako you are rewarded ten diamonds whereas in the southern region of Bowa-Seko the reward is fifteen diamonds.

The cell tower missions are the ones that you need to be careful with. They are always missions to track down a target and kill them. If you don't kill them in the first attack, however, they may simply escape the map altogether. You still get a "Mission Complete" message, but you won't actually get paid, making it impossible to obtain all 1000 diamonds. To avoid this problem, just make sure that you have a save file right before you start the mission and if you don't see your diamond count go up as soon as you complete the mission, reload, and do it again.

If you find all the briefcases and do all the cell tower missions, you'll unlock this achievement before you get to the end of the main storyline.

  • Save a Buddy from captivity

This is story related and cannot be missed.

There are a total of eleven buddies to save from various situations. Six in the north and five in the south. This achievement is unlocked when you rescue a buddy as a result of a mission given to you early in the storyline.

  • Work with a Buddy to subvert a mission offered by a faction

    *MISSABLE*

All of the storyline missions are given to you by the two warring factions. After you recieve a mission assignment - marked as a red target on your map, you'll get a phone call from a buddy who will suggest a different way of going about the assignment - marked as a blue target on your map. Simply do the mission the way your buddy suggests and you'll unlock this achievement.

  • Find all the Safe Houses in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

    *MISSABLE*

This achievement does not refer to the safe houses that are already available. You just have to unlock all of the unavailable safe houses, which are shown on the map as tent icons with a lock over them. To unlock a safe house, you just have to go there and kill all the guards around it. Once you do, you'll recieve of a message saying that you've unlocked it. Use the map here to keep track of which ones you've found.

  • Find all the Safe Houses in Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

    *MISSABLE*

This achievement does not refer to the safe houses that are already available. You just have to unlock all of the unavailable safe houses, which are shown on the map as tent icons with a lock over them. The three safe houses to the east of the prison, for example, are not required for this achievement. To unlock a safe house, you just have to go there and kill all the guards around it. Once you do, you'll recieve of a message saying that you've unlocked it. Use the map here to keep track of which ones you've found.

  • Turn over the first set of the Jackal's audio logs to the Journalist

    *MISSABLE*

There are seventeen Jackal tapes throughout the game. The first is given to you by the Journalist. The first set is the eight hidden around the northern territory. Simply find all eight of them and then go back to Mike's Bar to meet the Journalist and turn them over to him. Use the map here to keep track of which ones you've found.

  • Complete all the available Underground side-quests in both the North and the South

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

These are side missions are required as you go through the main storyline. You'll see a message telling you to find medicine. Simply go to the priest in the main town and he'll give you some documents to deliver in exchange for more medicine. Simply go to the house marked on your map, kill the enemies outside, and then go in to deliver the papers.

  • Unlock new weapons by hitting a Convoy

The Convoy missions come from the weapons dealer - the "gun" icon on the map. The convoy will be marked on your map once you accept the mission and will travel the same route continuously, so you can set up at an inersection or choke point and ambush them. The target is the large flatbed truck. They are frequently guarded by one or two jeeps with machine gunners. Those jeeps don't matter. All you have to do is blow up the flatbed. Initially, the easiest thing to do will be to wait near a curve where the truck will have to slow down and then throw a grenade or two underneath it.

  • Escape the Town

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

Once the initial cutscene with the Jackal is over, you'll be in a running gunfight in the middle of town. The fastest way to finish this section is simply to allow yourself to get gunned down, triggering a rescue from a new character and unlocking this achievement.

  • Escape to Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

You will unlock this achievement after you have made it through the desert and into the southern territory. This marks the approximate halfway point of the main storyline and opens up the southern territory for more exploration and side missions.

  • Purchase the manuals and acquire the bandolier for one weapon

    See "Weapon Expert".

  • Bagman

    10

Deliver stamped travel documents to the Underground in exchange for medicine

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

These are side missions are required as you go through the main storyline. You'll see a message telling you to find medicine. Simply go to the priest in the main town and he'll give you some documents to deliver in exchange for more medicine. Simply go to the house marked on your map, kill the enemies outside, and then go in to deliver the papers.

  • Complete a Mission intercepted from a cellular tower signal

    *MISSABLE*

    See "Utility Man".

  • Break the ceasefire and reignite the conflict

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Complete a Buddy side quest

    *MISSABLE*

Keep an eye on your map as you play through the story. In between main missions, you'll see that there are missions available at Mike's Bar in the north or the Marina in the south. These are side missions that will be offered by a buddy. Simply accept it and complete it to unlock this achievement.

  • Get rescued by a Buddy

    *MISSABLE*

Unless you are amazing at this game, this will certainly happen at some point. As long as you have a buddy that is "Rescue-ready", once you've been critically wounded, that buddy will come pull you out of the firefight and cover you, giving you time to heal your wounds.

  • Enter every 1 square kilometer map region of the world

    *MISSABLE*

The total game space is nineteen square kilometers. Nine in the north, nine in the south, and one in the desert in between. If you do any level of exploration, you'll certainly unlock this with ease. In fact, I don't think you can actually finish the storyline without entering every square kilometer at least once.

  • Turn over all of the Jackal's audio logs to the Journalist

    *MISSABLE*

There are seventeen Jackal tapes throughout the game. The first is given to you by the Journalist. The first set is the eight hidden around the northern territory. The second set is the eight hidden in the southern territory. Simply find all eight of them and then go to the Marina to meet the Journalist and turn them over to him. Use the map here to keep track of which ones you've found.

There is a known glitch with the second set of tapes. Once you've collected the tenth overall tape, every subsquent tape that you pick up will play the same message. Don't worry, the tapes are still being counted, so just collect all of them, keeping track on your own, and the achievement will still unlock once you've found all seventeen.

If you encounter this glitch and still want to know what the last set of tapes say, you can listen to all the audio from the tapes here.

  • Purchase the manuals and acquire the bandoliers for every weapon

    *MISSABLE*

You buy upgrades, manuals, and bandoliers at the computers that you find in the weapon shops. There are 1000 diamonds in the game, which is exactly enough to buy every single item in the computer, so feel free to buy whatever you want as long as you plan on getting all the diamonds. This particular achievement simply requires you to purchase all the upgrades for the weapons. Obviously, this also means that you have to unlock every weapon by hitting the supply convoys as the upgrades for a weapon are not available until you've actually purchased that weapon. Given the cost of buying all of these upgrades, you will not unlock this achievement until rather late in the game.

  • Switch sides in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

When you're working on the main story missions in the northern territory, simply do a mission for each side. Make sure you do this early on, so you don't accidently go too far and lose the chance to work for the other faction. The achievement will unlock as soon as you finish the mission for the new faction.

  • Switch sides in Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

When you're working on the main story missions in the southern territory, simply do a mission for each side. Make sure you do this early on, so you don't accidently go too far and lose the chance to work for the other faction. The achievement will unlock as soon as you finish the mission for the new faction.

  • Unlock all weapons by hitting every Convoy

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

After you've hit two convoys, you'll unlock an RPG that makes the ambushes even easier. Simply keep accepting missions at the weapons dealer until they have no more left. There are four missions in the north and four more in the south. Once you've unlocked all the weapons, this achievement will unlock. You don't actually have to purchase all the weapons for this achievement.

  • Escape torture at the old slave outpost

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Wipe out the senior leadership of both Factions and determine who will be the new Warlords

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Save a Buddy from a mortal wound

    *MISSABLE*

When you're working on subverting the main missions, you'll almost always have to help your buddy out of a firefight at the end. Almost every mission that I did resulted in that buddy bring wounded. When this happens, you'll hear your buddy calling out for help. Look around for the plume of blue smoke and follow that to find your buddy on the ground. Simply choose to heal them and you'll unlock this achievement.

  • Rescue all the Buddies from their respective predicaments

    *MISSABLE*

There are a total of eleven buddies. Six in the northern territory and five in the southern territory. You MUST rescue the six in the north before you escape to the southern territory because they will no longer be available once you leave.

Three of the buddies in the north are resuced as part of the main storyline. Two others can be found by exploring the areas around Pala - the lumber yard, the cock fights, fresh fish, the slaughter house, etc. You're looking for a building that you can actually enter through a closed door. Once you enter the building you should hear somebody shouting. Look for an interior door that you can unlock by sliding a bolt open. You'll find the buddy inside that room. The sixth buddy is the one that's easiest to miss. He or she will be next to a crashed plane in the northern middle section of the map. It's due south of the Jackal tape in that area, due west of a safe house, and due north of Shwasana.

In the southern territory, four of the buddies are unlocked through main story missions and the fifth can be found in one of the buildings in the Brewery. The achievement will unlock once the final buddy is rescued.

  • Subvert all the main faction missions in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

    *MISSABLE*

All of the storyline missions are given to you by the two warring factions. After you recieve a mission assignment - marked as a red target on your map, you'll get a phone call from a buddy who will suggest a different way of going about the assignment - marked as a blue target on your map. You must do every possible main mission in the northern territory the way that your buddy suggests to unlock this achievement.

  • Subvert all the main faction missions in Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

    *MISSABLE*

All of the storyline missions are given to you by the two warring factions. After you recieve a mission assignment - marked as a red target on your map, you'll get a phone call from a buddy who will suggest a different way of going about the assignment - marked as a blue target on your map. You must do every possible main mission in the southern territory the way that your buddy suggests to unlock this achievement.

  • Complete all Missions intercepted from cellular tower signals

    *MISSABLE*

These are missions that you receive by walking up to the cell towers on the map and activating the plate on the side. All of these missions require you to hunt down and kill a target that's been marked on your map. Occasionally, the target is on the move, but usually they are hiding in the middle of one of the hostile areas, so be aware that you'll usually have to fight your way to them. These missions can be a little glitchy. See Wages of Conflict for more information.

  • Comfort a Buddy and ease his passing

Simply choose to shoot them and you'll unlock this achievement. If you want to keep your buddies alive for as long as possible, you can simply reload your most recent save and replay back up to that point and choose to save them once you've unlocked the achievement.

  • Enter the Heart of Darkness

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Resolve your conflict with the Jackal to facilitate the exodus

This is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Get highest revives count in a ranked match

You can do this without boosting by following teammates around in a match and trying to heal them whenever they get downed. You can also boosting this by getting three friends into a single ranked match and having one shoot the other while you continually revive them. This is also a great way to boost the experience achievements as well.

  • Reach Rank 5 (Ranked Match)

See Warlord. Rank 5 requires 2,100 experience.

  • Win a round as the Captain in Uprising mode (Ranked Match)

To win an uprising game as the Captain, you first have to be selected as the Captain. Then, you have to personally capture all three capture points. Once you've done that, your team can hunt down the enemy Captain. Once he's dead, you'll win the round. You can also boost this with another friend in a ranked match.

  • Get highest xp total in one match (Ranked Match)

Either boost this with a friend or focus on getting as much experience as possible by healing teammates and killing opponents.

  • Win a match with 16 players (Ranked Match)

Team Deathmatch is your best bet for this achievement because you simply have to be on the winning side of an 8 vs 8 game. It can be quite annoying because people have a tendancy to quit when they're losing, but keep trying and you'll eventually get it.

  • Upgrade one class 3 times (Ranked Match)

You earn a diamond every time that you gain a rank. You can then put those diamonds into one of the various classes that are available in multiplayer. Each upgrade unlocks new weapons for that particular class. Simply put three diamonds into a single class and you'll unlock this achievement.

  • Play at least one full round in every Official Map (Ranked Match)

This achievement can be a bit glitchy, but you simply have to play a round of any game type on every official map. You can identify the official maps by the fact that they have "Ubisoft" listed as the author.

    Crude Awakening
    Dirty Work
    Last Bastion
    Pit Bull
    Love Shacks
    Mud Maze
    Cut Bait
    Riot Control
    Coup D'Etat
    Rumber Strip
    Rusty Beef
    Far Cry
    Clear Cut
    Sand Blasted

  • Play at least one full round in every Game Mode (Ranked Match)

This is quite easy to get as long as you don't quit early. There are only four Game Modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond, and Uprising. Play with random people online or boost with a friend.

  • Reach Rank 10 (Ranked Match)

See Warlord. You need 15,000 experience to reach Rank 10.

  • Reach Rank 20 (Ranked Match)

See Warlord. You need 250,000 experience to reach Rank 20.

  • Get 500 revives (Ranked Match)

This achievement is cumulative, so you can either boost it with two other friends or simply play with random people online and focus just on reviving your teammates.

  • Achieve Rank 30 (Ranked Match)

Rank 30 requires 1,250,000 experience. I would strongly recommend boosting this achievement with two other people by having on person constantly down the second person while the third revives them. Make sure you don't exceed the 1,500 XP limit per game. If you plan to do this without boosting, then be prepared for an investment of two to three hundred hours, easily.

  • Unlock field manuals for all weapons (Ranked match)

Each weapon has several manuals and each one is unlocked by performing a certain number of actions - headshots, executions, kills, multikills, etc. You only have access to a limited number of guns initially, so you have to unlock the rest of them by earning diamonds via leveling up and investing those diamonds in different classes.

Note: For most of these weapons, it appears that headshots do NOT count towards your kills, but executions do.

  • Download and rate 25 usermaps

Simply download twenty-five different maps made by someone other than Ubisoft. Play a round on each one and then rate the map at the end. You can even quit out of the match after a minute or so and still rate the map. Once you've done so with twenty-five different maps, the achievement will unlock.
