  • How to unlock Citizen of the Forest

Abilities are unlocked by collecting the pink crystals scattered around all of the areas. When you collect a crystal, the header on top of the screen will show how many more crystals you need for your next ability. When you have enough, it'll consolidate into a single crystal with a picture of the ability on it. At this point, you can head to the starting area (the center area of the map) and stand on the altar in the center to get a new ability from the tree.

There are a total of 75 crystals to collect to unlock all 6 abilities. You can check how many crystals you have in total when you choose your save file to load, and can see how many you have in each region by pulling up your map with and switching to the full view with .

In general, the collectibles are a massive pain. Many are unavailable the first time you go through an area, and most are out of the way so you probably won't find many as you play unless you do a lot of exploring. I don't recommend this, since you're just going to waste time. Instead, grab whatever you notice as you play and then mop up afterwards.

The following videos show all of the crystals in all locations. They also show the Silent Helmets if you don't have them all yet, although the "Utter Silence" achievement solution has a better video for the helmets. Just be aware that some crystals require you to access areas from other zones, making them a huge pain. I recommend going through each video and getting as many crystals as you can, and then keep track of which ones you didn't get and which areas you need to approach from, then get those missing ones later when you're in the required areas. Also be aware that the in-game counters for each area can be glitchy. Sometimes crystals count toward the wrong area. Quitting out of the game and reloading it will correct this issue. So if you are missing a crystal and can't find it, try reloading the game and see if the counter changes.

  • These walkthroughs are not the best. If there are any others out there I suggest you go with them. The order they're collected in the walkthrough is far from efficient, and the more difficult ones to get to that require a specific path, the walkthrough only shows when you are 95% of the way there. So for a few you may be confused as to how to get to the point where the walkthrough begins for a specific crystal
