Football Manager 2006 is part of the long running (celebrating 20 years in 2013) football management simulator series by Sports Interactive. Fortunately you don't actually need to know anything about football to to get all the achievements in this, as you can simulate to get almost every achievement. Be warned though, the sim speed is not fast and will require that you check in every now and then to make sure everything is going well. If you choose to play the game as it was intended, be warned that this will take you months to get done, but will still be a long slug either way.
How to set up your teams
The way to get many of the achievements done is to start a league where you are the manager of all or all the best clubs in a league. Do this by adding new human players, then sending them all on holiday. Pick a club that you want to be the one who wins things. Just send this one on holiday. With the other teams, create a tactic that is awful and pick a team with a striker in goal and your worst players all out of position. With these teams make sure you check the boxes to make sure your assistants use the same team and tactics you have picked when available. Once you have all players done, just sim. Make sure you check back every few months to see if anybody has been fired. If they have, retire them and add new users and tactics to any of the top clubs not managed. Turn the autosave off also, so if you get sacked it doesn't save it. Just make sure youb save when you check and are happy with what is going on! We will call this the league method.
If you really need to win a certain game, you can create a new user as the manager of the opposing team and play all your worst players out of position and in a poor formation to pretty much guarantee a win against any team (play a striker in goal, goalies up front, etc). We will call this the game method.
Start an Scottish League 2 league using the league method. There are only 10 teams so you can control all of them. Set your holiday so just before the end of the month the manager of your main club comes back from holiday. There are manager of the month awards but you can only get them if you are not simming over that date. There are achievements for winning "Manager of the Month", and one for winning it 10 times cumulative. If you don't have it in your first season you will get it later.
By the end of this season you will most likely have got "5 Clean Sheets In A Row", "5 Players in Team of The Week", "Goal of the Month", "10 Goal Of The Month" (again cumulative), "Win A Match", "10 Match Winning Streak", "10 Matches Without Losing", "Goal of the Season", "Clean Sheet", "Top Goalscorer In League", "Hat Trick", "Double Hattrick", "Player In Team of the Year", "Least Goals Conceded in League" and "Most Goals Scored In League".
At the end of the season if you win the league you will most likely be awarded Manager of the Year, again you need to be active at the end of the season for this. If you win the league you will achieve Win Promotion.
Rinse and repeat this process, remembering if you get promoted to change the other users to teams in that league. Once you get to the top division and win you will unlock "Win Domestic Championship". When in this division, check on your fixture list to see when your cup games are. Using the game method, ensure you win the cup for "Win Domestic Cup".
Manage the same club using this method for 5, 10 and 20 seasons to unlock the relative achievements. Please note you will need to be checking regularly to make sure you don't get sacked. After you have the 20 season with one club achievement, sim 10 more to get "Play 30 Seasons".
You should also get "5 Manager of the Year Awards" in hopefully your 5th season if not just repeat the formula.
Also make sure you come out of holiday just before the end of the year and save.See who wins the European and World player of the year. Reload your save and control the teams the players play for, then you will unlock the relative achievements when they win.
There are achievements for winning numerous cup and league competitions. These are over multiple saves, so keep on using the league method until you get any more wins you need.
Start a new game and pick yourself as the manager of one of the top world teams (England, Italy, Germany etc). Just sim and when you qualify you will get "Qualify for Int. Championship". Carry on simming until the tournament starts and use the game method to ensure you "Win International Championship". Use this method to "Qualify for World Cup" and "Win World Cup". You should get "Golden Boot" and "Player in World Cup Best XI" if you use the game method too. You can then go on to "Win Conferderations Cup".
There are a few of these for the quirky amount of 64 Find a boosting partner in the boossting thread found here, or join or create a Session. These are quick and easy to boost using the guide and should not take you more than 1-2 hours.
If you have any achievements left, you can get them quite simply. There are a few you are likely to not have at this point. You can use the game method to do these.
Here is one you probably won't have. Start a new game in the English Premiership, and choose Chelsea and Man Utd. Have Chelsea bid £30Million for Christiano Ronaldo, and accept the offer with Utd. When the deal goes through you will get "Buy A 30 Million Plus Player" and "Sell A 30 Million Plus Player".
Using the league and game methods this is a relatively easy 1000 but will take a lot of time. You don't have to be there for most of it, but your Xbox will be busy. Have fun!
