TBoGT: Gold Star Achievement in Grand Theft Auto IV

  • TBoGT: Gold Star

    80

Score 100% in all missions. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)

  • How to unlock TBoGT: Gold Star

You will be scored on your missions progress and how well you do during your current mission. You can re-do missions so if you make a mistake you can correct it. Try your best at the missions and get to know the missions. Once you know what to do you shouldn't have any issues scoring 100% in each one.

Here are a few things to note:

    • You cannot die during your mission.
    • If you die, don't use a taxi during the mission. This will go against your completion and reward you with a 0% rating.
    • You can only replay missions once you have completed the main story.

  • 2 words: STUPID ACHIEVEMENT!!
  • 1 word: AGREED!!!
  • Seriously, how are you supposed to be able to do this without cheating? And playing thru the story, you would completely miss out on at least half of the dialogue! This achievement belongs on the wall in Hercules!!!
  • Not really that hard.
  • It is very hard when the stupid developers put unrealistic times to complete each mission. You literally have to cheat (in a sense) by driving off the waypoint path and making your own path OFF OF THE SURFACE STREETS! Without a vivid understanding of the layout of all of Liberty City, you arn't going to get far. Hell, even with youtube videos it's still a pain in the ass having to remember every left and right. Because of this acheivement, I'm not bothering with my last 7 acheivements in this game. Sucks that rockstar added completion percentages for every mission in BOGT. Really wanted 100% completion in this game! :(
  • It's not half as hard as Left for Dead, Halo, or the COD series. You can't use your own vehicleS when repeating a mission like you were told that you could in the walkthrough by GTAseriesvideos, if you park a vehicle in front of a characters house then trigger the mission from your cell phone, the vehicle will not be there and you will complete the mission in under the time given. I actually replayed the game over because of that. The way i made sure I got a 100% in all missions was that i turned of auto-saving so i wouldn't have to replay missions over, so stop complaining, please, and that's about the best achievement in The Ballad.
  • I meant to say you will NOT complete the mission in under the time limit.
  • Gigi, be quiet... Just because it was easy for you does not mean it's easy for everyone. I find this achievement to be extremely annoying, a very hard 80G.
  • On my first playthrough i got 100% on 24 missions, i had 2 missions to get 100% And im happy now, Good luck to all, wish you the best if you're trying for this achievement.
  • Thank god for strategy guides! Those are usefull little buggers!
  • Thank you to the guys who done the strategy guides. I don't think I could have managed to get this achievement without them.
  • stupidest achievement
  • it's a very easy achievement guys. you dont have to do all the objectives in one run! you can for example do the mission very quickly the first time to have the time checked and then replay the mission and only focus on doing the other objectives. do it this way and you should have it quickly.
  • if that's true bigphil44 i love you.
  • @bluffdarqfox it is impossible to do 24 missions once and get 100% on them all
  • Originally I thought this would be insane, but completing it in parts makes it completely achievable.
  • i'd like to speak to the 'rockstar' who came up with this brain-fart...
  • Finally, after 30 hours of gameplay I've got it.
  • when will y'all ever stop complaining, I mean what else do you want besides a god damned guide. I'm not saying it was easy but it's not that hard, I don't think I could have ever done it without the guide. I swear to god, I didn't know what quick draw the RPG was, I thought they meant to quickly pull it out.
  • First of all, Bluff, you're a liar. Secondly, the complaining is quite annoying. I don't particularly like having to do this either but it's a great side story and relatively fun. You either want 100% completion or you don't. "Wanted" is one of the original achievements and is by far a drastically worse achievement.
  • watch the videos and you too can do it
  • This achievement WAS pretty tough. The mission I spent the most time on was 'Caught With Your Pants Down' (Tank Mission). I'd either miss shooting down the tank in four shots or MOST of all, not get the tank to the safe house quick enough. VERY frustrating day. It's really no easy way or clear strategy to this one. It's like you either get it or you don't. But, I will say that Tonic24k is quite correct. You either want the achievement or you don't. I just hope that they don't make it so damn HARD next time around in future GTA games. I've gotten EVERY damn achievement for this game (only because it's my favorite game) and I have to say this achievement isn't NEARLY as TIME consuming as some of the others on the list.
  • Oh, and YES, it's true that you can get your challenges in sections of different tries. You don't have to get ALL the challenges in one go on a mission. That was a life saver. I did aim to get all of the challenges in some of the mission so I could save time, but some of them, you might not be able to get in one go, due to the toughness of certain missions.
  • In comment #23, I meant to say, "....I did aim to get all of the challenges in some of the MISSIONS so I could save time...." (LOL) Sorry for the typo.
  • THE MOST TIME CONSUMING ACHVMNT IS WANTED. UNLESS BRANLP84 WAS ONLY TALKING ABOUT THE BoGT ACHVMNTS.
  • @ G4MBIT: No, I wasn't just talking about the BoGT achievements. WANTED was pretty time consuming. That AUF W.... PETROVIC achievement was rough as well. But let's not forget about the 200 birds and 50 stunt jumps as well. This game had some agonizing achievements. So, like I said, this GOLD STAR achievement almost seems like a walk in the park compared to some of the others listed. Just be patient and you'll get this one eventually.
  • Just don't be an achievement whore... it's not that big of a deal my god..
  • In Mission #3 - Momma's Boy one of the requirements is to do a counter finish, how do you do a counter finish?
  • Never mind i got it, i should of read the hints/walkthrough before the fight lol
  • It is actually really easy because when you complete the game you can replay all of the missions again. If you complete a mission again once then it will save all of the tasks that you have completed. Any of them that you havn't got then you can try the mission again and then only concentrate on the tasks that you havn't done.
  • PS: It will all count if you take it bit by bit.
  • I'm working on it. But you can do it without cheats. Look what you must do in each mission and then do it. Cheats, mods and hacks are stupid! Greatings from Germany ;)
  • yeah, you can do the mission more than one time and the percentages from different tasks in that mission add up, ive got the 80% achievement, can't really be botherd to do the 100 though
  • midnight club la has a simular achievement, except you got to get gold on all stats in one race. so yea, this one shouldnt be that hard
  • Hey guys, THIS IS FUCKING HARD! but i got it. XD it took me 2 or 3 months!!! The worst mission in my opinion is dropping in. the worst requirement is the acuracy. I wish you luck.
  • some of these requirements are unreasonable and gay like having to get 20 headshots when there are only 10 enemies
  • @37 (kingfatass010) Therefore, that's why it's called The Ballad Of GAY Tony (cause the achievements are GAY) :) - T0X1C Z0MB1E TZ
  • all this complaining about this achievement only excites me to do it..
  • i really don't understand what all the complaining is about, it's not that damn hard if you put some time and effort in. Wait till you have completed the game then use the Mission Select on your phone and just concentrate on 1 or 2 tasks for each mission at a time. Ive been doing this for 3 days now and have 100% on 23 out of the 26 missions so stop moaning people, it is a tough achievement yeah but ive seen a lot more tougher chievements than this.
  • this is so SO HARD D=
  • not that hard. done it in 2 days but still the hardest achievement ive ever done since it took 2 days.
  • its intimidating, but really not too hard. what i did was play thru the game regular (for fun), then i went thru each mission trying for quick times. another time going for the "accuracy and headshots. then by that time you should only have a few left. the only missions that are a pain are NO.1 (that race with brucie and his bro, they will lie and tell you that you are going to slow). and 'sexy time' because that helicopter is a asshole with controls.
  • Mission 7, time 5:58 two seconds to spare mission 8, time 4:57 three seconds to spare mission 12, time 7:19 six seconds to spare Mission 15, 5:38 and :33 seven seconds and two seconds to spare Mission 23, 4:20 seconds no seconds to spare mission 24, 3:54 one second to spare Now only 5 missions left to beat
  • This aint happening
  • You know what this means sice they invented this? They are are going to have an achievmwnt in gta iv for completing every story mission 100%! And for all the dlc too!
  • Jesus spell check really messed up! *since *achievment * GTA V *DLC
  • achivement well hard to get
  • To be honest, I found this achievement dull, but not impossible. Some of the missions took a millions tries, but they were doable. What really irritated me, though, was the unexplained targets. 'Followed Close?' WTF is that supposed to mean? That took forever to figure out.
  • Eu vou comprar GTA as conquistas são muito dificeis ?
  • I forgot the mission you're talking about, but its when Brucie and Mori smuggle cars and get chased by cops. Anyways, "Followed Close" means that you followed close to Brucie and Mori all the way thru. I think that requirement sucks in my opinion.
  • Sexy Time seems to be the hardest one for me. I can not do any of it! Very frustrating. Anybody have tips for that mission?
  • anyone who said this achievement is easy is a lying troll, "sexy time" in the helicopter the controls are shit house and on "ladies half price" you need to do a 100% flawless drive to the boat that isn't even on the designated path, be prepared to restart that mission a lot because traffic fucks you over and I'd say 1 in 10 times the traffic is easy for it, even when it is be prepared to see a lot of 1 second overs
  • definitely doable but not "easy" considering you will be looking up guides to get the par times, and sexy time turned out to be easy i just had to blow up the boat quicker by shooting the front first then the sides, and as for the 3 boats use the minigun not missiles, just got the cheeve
  • Next on my list of achievement quests. Looking as though it's going to be frustrating.
  • Well this achievement is really easy if you got the pacience for it. I used to do harder things on ps2 games just to brag for it so keep up guys, and like chaos brother said, look up for guides to get the par times once you know your time limit and you know the streets of Algonquin (which most of the missions take place in) you'll do fine. I'm 3 missions away from this achievement and I'm only 2 objectives to 1 in those 3 missions. So good luck guys. :)
  • Just a bunch of whiny little girls. It's not the games fault you suck at playing video games.
  • Oh man the fact that you don't have to get all of the targets in one attempt (which I just found out after 5 hours of trying) makes it almost too easy, unless you're very unskilled...
