GTA 5, both single-player and GTA Online, is all about the fast cars. They're handy for getaways, hit and runs, for races, for showing off, they're at the core of Grand Theft Auto's experience. Honestly, there's nothing more fun in Grand Theft Auto V than racing around nodding your head to some banging tunes too! Well, aside from taking on the army in a fully-upgraded Oppressor MK2.
What to know what the 1 fastest car is, in both GTA Online and the GTA 5 single-player. Fear not, we've got you covered - and so has Rockstar Games!
The Number 1 Fastest Car in GTA 5 - By Top Speed
The number 1 fastest car in GTA Online is none other than the Ocelot Pariah, which reaches an impressive maximum speed of 136 miles per hour (218.871 kmh). It's an absolute beast of a car, which is effectively raw power, meaning that while it might be fast, it can be a little unwieldy and challenging to drive. When it comes to top speeds though, it can't be topped.
The Ocelot Pariah sports car can be purchased for a fairly moderate $1,420,000 from retailer Legendary Motorsports and is based on the Aston Martin V12 Zagato. Is the Ocelot Pariah fast? Hells yes it is. Is it easy to handle? Not so much. If you're looking for a vehicle to set some good lap times though, try GTA 5 Online's Benefactor BR8 ($3,400,000!).
The 5 fastest cars in GTA Online are:
1. Ocelot Pariah - 136mph
2. Grotti Itali RSX - 135.3mph
3. Pfister 811 - 132.5mph
4. Principle Deveste Eight - 131.75mph
5. Bravado Banshee 900R - 131mph
What's the Fastest Car on PS5/Xbox Series X in GTA Online?
However! The above is true if you're playing on the Xbox One, PS4 or PC versions of GTA Online, however, players that bought the new next-gen version having played the last-gen version, if they import their character into the new version they will get gifted the Karin S95. A relatively ordinary car, right? No! Absolutely not! Thanks to Hao's Special Works, you can actually upgrade the Karin S95 to hit a whopping 155.5mph! That's an incredible 19.5mph quicker than the Ocelot Pariah. This is surely going to set some really impressive lap times!
Again, this is only available for players who imported their last-gen characters into their next-gen version on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S - and fully upgraded the car, of course!
What's the fastest car in GTA 5's Story Mode?
From a single-player perspective, the Ocelot Pariah or the Grotti Itali RSX aren't actually available in GTA 5's story mode. The actual fastest car in the single-player campaign is the Vapid Pisswaser Dominator, which can reach a top speed of 126.5 mph. The Dominator can be unlocked by winning the third stock race, so it's easily attainable as well.
Coming in a close second, however, is the Truffade Z-Type, which has a top speed of 126.25mph (and can be bought for a cool $10m if you have that lying around), just slightly ahead of the Truffade Adder, which clocks in at a top speed of 124.75mph (and actually is a lot cheaper at only $1m).
Honestly though, if you're racing in the single-player, and you have a corner-heavy race, I'd honestly give either the Pegassi Zentorno or the Entity XF a go. The Zentorno is not too expensive at $725,000, has a top speed of 122mph with rapid acceleration, while the Entity XF, which also comes in at a decent $795,000, with a top speed of 121.5mph, but this one handles like a beaut.
The 5 fastest cars in GTA 5's story mode (and where you find them) are:
1. Vapid Pisswaser Dominator - 126.5mph - completed for finishing the 3rd stock race.
2. Truffade Z-Type - 126.25mph - only purchasable now, after Eye in the Sky mission steal was fixed.
3. Truffade Adder - 124.74mph - it spawns near Sessanta Nove in Rockford Hills, near Michael's house.
4. Progen T20 - 122.25mph - it generally spawns in the multi storey car park in Pillbox Hill.
5. Pegassi Osiris - 122mph - if you've 100% the game, it spawns in a mansion to the east of the golf course. If not, you have to buy it from Legendary Motorsports for $1,950,000.
Other Notable Mentions
Okay, we've waxed lyrical about the Ocelot Pariah being top of the speed list - as well as the ridiculously fast next-gen Karin S95 - but let's run you through some more of the notable mentions as you wind your way through the long and winding roads of GTA Online.
Grotti Itali RSX
Coming in just short of the Ocelot Pariah in GTA Online is the Grotti Itali RSX, which is the second fastest car in GTA 5, being able to reach a whopping 135.3 mph (217.744 kmh). The Itali RSX though is slightly more expensive than the Pariah though, coming in at an incredible $3,465,000 - also from Legendary Motorsports. It's basically a really fast Ferrari. Sexy!
Pfister 811
The Pfister 811, based on the Porsche 918 (the name Pfister 811 is like Porsche 911, get it? Pfister 811, Porsche 911... oh, forget it), is a nippy little car who's well worth a trip out on the open-road. With it being able to reach a top speed of 132.5mph, you can't really turn your nose up at this gorgeous supercar which only costs $1,135,000 from Legendary Motorsports. The Pfister 811 is a car that truly excels on straight and open roads. Cornering at high speeds, not so much.
Bravado Banshee 900R
The Bravado Banshee 900R is the fifth fastest car in GTA Online, with it being able to reach a top speed of 131mph. It's basically the wide-body variant of the classic GTA Banshee, so if you're looking for a classic GTA car that has some great top speeds and some decent handling, look no further. Plus, the mighty Bravado Banshee 900R only costs $565,000 to convert it at Benny's!
Principe Deveste Eight
Coming as no surprise to anyone, the Principe Deveste Eight is based on the Devel Sixteen. With a top speed of 131.75mph, that makes the Deveste Eight the 4th fastest car in GTA Online, and is available from Legendary Motorsports for $1,795,000. The Deveste Eight is a lovely little supercar that has an impressive top speed, while also having some decent high-speed handling ability. It's not the best handling car, but it's certainly strong enough. It's also great for stunt races.
Itali GTB
The Progen Itali GTB has a lot of things going for it. 1. It's pretty bloody nippy. 2. It is a gorgeous car, based on a Ferrari 348 GTS, and 3. It's only just over a million to buy. But wait, I'm not finished! Perhaps even better is you can take it to Benny's, pay a little extra and turn it into an Itali GTB Custom, which is obviously even better. Happy days!
Invetero Coquette D10
The Invetero Coquette D10, obviously based on a Chevvy Corvette C8, is the first time we've mentioned this beast of a car thus far in this piece. That's because it's a nearly car. It nearly makes the top 5, missing out ever so slightly with its 130mph top speed (it's the sixth fastest car in GTA Online). It's not massively expensive at $1,510,000 either. Plus, it's a gorgeous car. A true American sports car.
Pound for Pound Fastest Cars in GTA Online - Best Value
Karin Kuruma Armored
The clue's in the name with this one... it's a bulletproof car, which is handy for pretty much everything in the world of GTA Online. It's not massively cheap at $698,250 (although you can get it for $525,000 after completing the Fleeca heist), but it will prove invaluable. Trust us. It can reach 109.75mph too!
The Pegassi Toros
So, you want an SUV that's fairly cheap ($498,000 from Legendary Motorsports) and is actually pretty rapid (127.1mph!), then look no further than the Pegassi Toros, based on the Lamborghini Urus. It's big, beasty, won't be pushed around, has great acceleration and an ace top speed. Don't sleep on the Toros!
Ubermacht Sentinel
If you're after a decent ride with good handling, a car that looks good too, one with a really good top speed, oh, and one that is cheap as chips, then look no further than the Ubermacht Sentinel. A car that will set you back a measly $95,000 from Southern San Andreas Super Autos, which is peanuts in digital Los Santos. If you're looking for a car to get started in GTA Online, then look no further.
Annis Elegy RH8
The Annis Elegy RH8 is underrated for so many reasons. Firstly, because it goes an actually impressive 118.5mph, but mostly because it's bloody free if you link your Xbox Live or PSN to your Rockstar Social Club. So, an incredibly fast car... for free. What's not to love about this one?
