    Performed an Assassination against an Elite to survive a fall that would've been fatal.

      

  • How to unlock If They Came To Hear Me Beg

    *Must be done on Normal or higher difficulty*
    The easiest level to get this done on is right at the start of Pillar of Autumn. At the start, you will come to the edge of the cliff. If you look down, you will see a semi truck on the left and a car on the right. Between the semi truck and car, you will see a elite and three grunts. As soon as start the mission, Emile will say, "Race you to her". The Elite will back up and put you in reach to hit him. *Sprint off the cliff, and immediately hit to stop the sprint*. As you are falling, fall on his back. Just before you hit him, hold down to perform the assassination. This may take a couple tries.

    * - You must stop the sprint as soon as you jump. The game still thinks you are running and doesn't recognize that it would be a height big enough to kill you.

    you need to make sure your sprint is turned off midair because if you are sprinting you can survive the fall.it happened to me a couple of times but then i finally got it took about 30 minutes though

    Thanks Aido, that's exactly what I needed for this achievement. I tried for about an hour before reading your comment. After I turned sprint off I got in in 15 minutes.

    It doesn't matter when or if you turn your sprint off, it's still completely possible to die from a full sprint jump, still sprinting while landing. Don't confuse people, since it's really difficult to get get a jump far out enough to land near the Elite without a lengthy sprint off the ledge.

    ive been trying to do this in the beginning of 'the pillar of autumn' level and i can never get it to show the assassination animation, it always looks like i punch him in the back or i splatter against the elite.....wtf?

    Right I've just been having a complete mare with this and then I tried something and it worked first time. Basically don't re-spawn from the check point just before the jump, re-start the mission from pressing start. Also use the pistol, I found it easier to perform the assassination with it. After spending about 30 mins re-spawning and trying from the check point I tried this and it worked first time. Hopefully this helps some of you guys and gals

    I'm sorry this is sad. If you look at my file share and download the clip "Ninja Strike" you will see how I got this achievement. It was my first try and I got it while preforming it. I suggest you look at it if you're having trouble with this one.

    Wow, this took a little longer than it should have. I did the assassination three times before it gave me the little animation thing!? Wonder why it performed the attack, killed it, didn't kill me, and never gave me the achievement?! But I finally got it!

    The last level there is a cliff you come to. There's a elite that moves about in a pattern. To the middle of the street, or to the left and right in the dirt. Wait for him to move to the dirt and use your sprint ability to jump. HOWEVER, remember to turn it off before you get to him or the fall won't be fatal. Another thing to remember is how you actually get assassinations. Get a little bit more behind him than you think you need, and it's probably closer to where you need to be. Do not try to land anywhere ontop of him, because you can't extend the assassination animation that way. Hope this helps!

    By far the worst of the achievements for this game. So bad, that even XBox live has an "insiders moves" video about it now. Even with all the videos and guides, it still ends up being a total crap-shoot. Good luck, and have patience.

    Is it just me or does the elite seem to move away right when you get to him? Took me several tries to get it right. I was actually trying to demonstrate the difficulty of it to a friend and got the achievement my first try while he was watching. He's like what's so hard about that? He has no idea...

    So i have no idea if this will help or not but I'm on day two of trying to get this damn thing and I think i figured it out. I think the difficulty has to be on Legendary for it to unlock. I changed the difficulty and got it first try after two freakin' days! Hope this helps!

    This achievement is very easy to do if you attempt it on the level "Nightfall". Just make sure you set the level to legendary before you start. Here's a video guide i made for it.

    It's not so much hard as it is confusing; let me explain: On Pillar of Autumn of whatever as soon as you get past that first path when you start theres a ledge. If you look down theres an elite (MAKE SURE HE STAYS IN THAT SPOT) switch to your magnum and also make sure that the difficulty is on legendary, as you are trying to increase your chances of death. Sprint towards the ledge and jump. About midway down back out of the sprint and right before you land (behind the elite) hold the melee button. Good luck guys it took me a few times.

    i read all these and tried it all for about 3-4 hours then gave up really and then by randomness i just let off the left stick instead of holding forward after jumping which made my gun pop back up and did it like it was an automatic thing... had sprint on the whole time, and used the rifle... so yeah

    I tried for about an hour straight jumping straight off the cliff with no success, I then moved to the other side of the large rock on the right and tried from there and got it first time, I have a video on my file share if it helps at all.

    OMFG! Don't even go there on this one. I've done the assassination over 50 times now (no exageration, a few hours over two days), using different areas to jump off, pistol/rifle, running/not running, respawning/restarting you name it. Even had two other people try it, several time who both have the cheev but couldn't get it on my account! Really pissed off with this one.

    The only possible place I found to get it was the very beginning of Lv. 10, Pillar of Autum. Watch the Elite below and get his pattern/timing down. Then when he's at the closest point take a few steps back then sprint to the edge and jump. The guys are correct when they tell you that your sprint must be off while free-falling or this won't work. I found the best way to make sure is tap the button in air before getting close to the ground to melee. Took me a bunch of tries but I finally got it.

    There are at least three spots this can be done from, it's certainly not glitched and it certainly requires a bit of skill. I like this sort of reward for outlandish/flair playing. Excellent achievement. I got this on my fifth attempt (the previous four times I was well short or to the left of the elite so died from the fall) and got it.

    i was about to give up trying for this, after about an hour and many assinations with no achievement! but as luck would have it, the achievement flashed up just as i was about to throw my pad in the bin!! haha. anyway i just stood on the cliff edge (start of piller of autumn mission) waited till the elite moved close, i took e few steps back ran jumped towards him, guided myself down towrds him, then pulled RB when i got behind him. simple!!! oh cancel run halfway down.

    No joke, i have this assassination down to an art form. I have completed the animation well over 100 times done it more than 10 times in a row Tried both assult rifle and pistol different angles on the cliff, ledges, spots for the elite seperet difficulties everything and i still can't get this achievement

    Ha after about 3 hours of trying this achievment all diffrent was i finally decided i was going about it all wrong. so to help eveyone else this is how i got it instead of letting go of run as soon as i left the cliff i decided to hold it and point my character directly at the target facing down to speed up my decent and only letting go of run when im an inch away from hitting that SOB. also i turned on on the black eye and tilt skulls the tilt to make me more likly to die when i take damage and the black eye so my shield wont regenerate and before jumping at the start of the mission i threw some nades on myself to kill my shield. tho i dont think you have to use the skulls just try to speed up your decent to the ground. hope this helps everyone.

    I'm no longer sure what to do here. I have done this assassination 4 times, with 3 different assassination animations. It was done on legendary, it was me and my friend on his campaign. I even have the recorded failed attempts. How can I get the achievement? Just keep spamming it? I've already spent over 2 hours attempting this.

    The key (as stated before) is to make sure you hit the sprint button again right after you jump. Also I found that I was able to jump a little further out when I started my run on top of the rock and jumped the instant I couldn't see land anymore. Also it's much easier if you are already looking down when you start your run. Good luck!

I was trying for it on Pillar of Autumn with no success, but did it on Nightfall and within minutes i had it. The jump doesnt actually kill you but you can get the acheivement here.     So basically I'll reaffirm what has been said before. The key is to push the sprint button again in midair. It guarantees the ability is stopped. It may work better if you put the black eye tilt and iron skulls on with Legendary difficulty but I don't know for concern. All I know was it worked for me. Also I used the assault rifle and not the pistol, it seems to have longer melee range and gave me alot more assasinations than the pistol did.

    i kept trying on normal, and would keep just doing regular melee, or land on him and crush him, SO FRUSTURATING! :D must of heard 'heres a destination six, pillar of autumn, race ya to her' about 100 times. so i decided to switch things up, change the difficulty to herioc, so that there was more of a chance i would die from the fall. so i just did what i had been doing, nailed that elite fucker first shot. i was so happy i ran around the house for five minutes yelling FUCCK YEA! it all goes down to luck i guess, sometimes you'll land it others you won't.

    Man i wish i was as lucky as you bailey. Ive done the assasination about 200 times without luck. Also ive played the whole time on Legendary and if your not going to die anywhere else i dont know. I wish bungie would come out and tell you exactly how to do this cause its so glitched. If i wasnt a person who had to complete a game completly i would have given up on this achievement a long time ago. Im going to try this on nightfall.     I succesfully assassinated him about 10 times and no achievement so i gave up. A little while later i retried and got it first time. i guess if you do it but dont get the achievement dont keep retrying from the checkpoint but just reload the level!

    This achievement is realy *beep*. I have no problems, when it takes time for a realistic thing, but this one is only luck or I don`t know. I run, jump, press LB to stop the run, assassinate the elite and... nothing. I tried more than 2h, but never get the achievement. I reload the level for retries, but nothing helped. And a friend of mine got it in the first time. What`s the problem, bungie?!?!?

    This achievment is harder to get than the Mile High Club in Call of Duty 4. I'm not kidding. I beat Mile High Club after a bunch of tries and have spent HOURS tryin to get this. I've used every trick that everbody suggests. All of them don't work. Never before has an achievement been so impossible. Bungie needs to fix this!!!!!

    the achievement works fine, i only needed 20 jumps. remember to turn sprint off after u jump otherwise it wont count. this can be done at the start of the "pillar of autumn mission" just beneath the cliff is an elite, when he is on the right place make the jump and get him.

    I must have tried this literally hundreds of times. Sprint off, sprint on, jump behind the Elite, jump on the elite, pistol, assault rifle, head stomp animation, neck stab animation, etc... Well I finally took a whack a week later and tried something I hadn't done yet. I looked literally straight down as I came down on the elite and assassinated him. To my surprise I finally got it, THANK GOD! Oddly enough I got an animation that belied me being on the ground when I got it? So it's kind of confusing but check my file share at this link and grab the video to watch what I did from my eyes. It should help to actually see what someone who tried relentlessly did to finally get it. Also, watching someone else's video in their file share is what made me finally try staring straight down.     I just got this achievement and it was a PAIN. I did it on "The Pillar of Autumn", same as most everyone else. It took me a couple hours to do it. I got different animations at least 50 times. As I was doing it, I recalled someone on here said that you wouldn't get it if you loaded the last checkpoint, and you should instead restart the level. I gave it a shot, and it worked! I figure you have to get the animation the first time you run through the level. At least, that's how it worked for me. Like I said before, I did it at the start of "Pillar of Autumn" on Legendary. Nothing else special, no skulls or anything. I just had to do it on the first jump.

    Thanks for all the advice guys - still haven't got it. I have 118 assassinations on my file (you can check it!) Pretty sure at least 100 of them are from the pillar of autumn and another 10 or so from Nightfall. I'm getting the animation, the fall is enough to kill me (plenty of deaths to prove it!!) Tried with Legendary, Heroic, skulls on, skulls off, scoring on, scoring off, lowering shields before, not lowering shields, landing on him, behind him, everything possible and I still don't seem to be able to get this - Anyone know anywhere with good deals for controllers nad telly's coz I'm gonna need some soon!

    Did you "Restart Level" instead of "Load Last Save"? I did all of those things you mentioned with no luck, but I got it when I loaded the level and got it on my first jump, pretty sure any animations after don't count.

    Following Karmashock's advice, and by looking for trends in the posts online, the only constant is people restarting the mission each time they fail. Turned on iron skull on legendary, and did it within 15 tries. After 4 days of trying you have |NO| idea how relieved i was! Props to karma for noticing this, i recommend turning on Iron skull for all who still haven't got it!

    ok for all having problems with this make sure your difficulty is set to legendary. much easier and you do not have to be soo precise on the stopping the sprint thing, or using the assasination move.

    @ karmashock - again, thanks for the advice but still no luck. I now have 150 assassinations but no achievement. Tried restarting level, Iron on, Legendary and still no luck. This game is going back and this achievement can suck my big fat one! I paid £18 for it, getting £28 trade in so my 965 achievement score will have to suffice.     I was everytime signed in and didnt get the achievement. I read a lot of things in forums, do this, do that, but nothing helped. Then I tried it with two pads in local mode, but I never got a assassination. So I tried it again with one pad and at the first assassination I got, the achievement poped up. I didnt restart the level after a miss, just restarted after the checkpoint.

    Performing the assassination on both the Pillar of Autumn and Nightfall isn't hard - the hard part is getting the achievement to pop. Many people say "This is glitched" Many people say "It isn't glitched" You tend to find the ones saying it is are people who DON'T have the achievement and the ones saying it isn't DO have the achievement. I Don't have it as previously stated. I believe it is glitched with my nearly 800 (at least) attempts of doing it.     Finally Got it : This is how Stage : Beginning of Pillar of Autumn (Where you look down over the cliff with Emile and see an Elite and a few grunts between two trucks ) First carry you pistol instead of your assault rifle I found I jumped further Seconed walk up to the cliff first and get a look of where the elite is and wait until you see which way he is backing up Third now that you have an idea of where he is going to be, you dont have to have a huge running start but get a good one, you'll figure out your timing on this after a few jumps If your coming up short its because your turing off your sprint too early, remember you want to be behind him for an asasination not on top of him

    OK, this one was awkward as hell but I finally got it just a few minutes ago. First of all, the basics. This has to be on Normal, obviously, and played at the start of the level "Pillar Of Autumn" Now, at the very start on the over-look you've all heard about, look down and see that infamous Elite. He keeps moving around, and there are four possible locations he stands in. Two locations you cannot reach him in, two locations you can. The two REACHable (GEDDIT?! I'm so alone....) are the ones at the front of that overturned truck thing. When you see him move there, go back a bit, then hit the gas and just hurl yourself over the edge. As soon as you've reached the appropriate distance, make sure to turn off Sprint, or it wont work. As you fall, wait until the very last possible second, unt

What most people, including myself, achieve is that animation where the Elite is on thr ground, and you jump on his neck or something. That is not, repeat NOT the right one. I figured that out just before I got it. You actually have to get the animation of stabbing him with the knife, or else it wont work. So, to recap, turn off sprint, be on Normal, and wait until you're eye-level with the back of his head before mashing RB

B: you are better to play on heroic or legendary to ensure the fall will kill you as you can survive it alot of the time on normal

    A main reason that ppl dont get this is that, you have to assassinate early. Make sure that you dont even touch the elite, or it'll count as if you'd landed on the elite, which would cancel out the achievement cos you wouldn't have died from the fall.

    It doesn't matter what gun you use, or what scene you get when you assassinate the elite,as long as you are playing on legendary you should get the achievement. I think on the other difficulties it is only a brute in the elite style armor and that is why everyone is having such difficulty.

    After 2 solid hours of trying I unlocked this one. The only thing I changed which I think made it unlock was I stopped pushing forward as I assassinated the elite. Now, after reading the previous post I can confirm that it isn't glitched but it is most definitely a pain in the ass!

    Tip for people having trouble "aiming the Elite": wait till he is heading toward the lower right spot, then run down the path to till you see "checkpoint". Then if you don't get it when it's time to try again, he will be heading right where you want him. Atleast hthat is how it seemed for me. It makes more attempts possible with less wait time. Also: HOLD the RB BUTTON do not click it. Once I read that tip, I took me two try to get it on LEGENDARY.

    This one is really tuff but I finally got it. As soon as u start pillar of autumn sprint past Emile go over to the ledge, there should be a big rock there, on the side of the rock facing the pillar of autumn there should be a red bush when Emile says "race u to her" sprint and jump off the ledge while u are falling towards the elite stop sprint and press RB to assaniate it.

    There is definitely something flaky with this one. I had tried for several hours over a couple of days with no luck of unlocking the achievement even though I got the assassination medal multiple times. When I did finally get it I did everything the same, the only difference being I had unlocked "Make it Drizzle" just prior to making another round of attempts. I don't know if it was just my time or if unlocking the other achievement cleared whatever was preventing this one from registering. It just seemed like an odd coincidence it unlocked on my first attempt that day.

    Holy Crap! After weeks of trying and untold assassinations and misses, I followed a reccomendation to uninstall the game from yoour hard drive and try it. 5 assassination I have this ridculously cool, but very glitched achievement.     This one is glitched, spent at least one hour trying on heroic, got the animation several times, but no achievement. Tried it once more 2 weeks later and got it after 30 minutes. I'm still wondering why I didn't get the achievement the first time I got the animantion; and yes I stopped Sprint during the jump.     Same tactics as many above - sprint and cancel once you get the distance needed. Despite the game awarding a successful assassination, it is not enough. You may will notice that an assassination cut-scene takes a fraction of a second to kick-in after you pressed B. If you've tried this achievement many times you will notice you will hit the floor or land on the elite slightly before the cut scene. The difficult thing is to jump accurately enough to guarantee that the short time you need to hold B leaves you off the ground/elite. This all of has to be balanced with when you cancel the sprint mid-air. I successfully assassinated the guy 100 times before i realised this, then it just took me 5 attempts to do it twice on 2 friend's games. Take care.

    OK Please refer to my previous comments 79, 83, 88 & 89... Then tell me how much of a tool I am!! I did get rid of the game for said prices.... Then re-bought the Limited Edition on special at Gamestation last Friday. Spent another several attempts and still nothing.... Kept trying... Literally 5 minutes ago I got it!!! What a relief!!     let me say this, its may look simple, but its bloody hard to do: at the start of the mission "the pillar of autumn" go to the edge of the cliff and look down at the road and you will see an elite and three grunts. The elite will move around in sort of a triangular formation but eventually he will move onto the dirt off the road. When this happens, run back and sprint off the edge (note that while in mid air, turn of Sprint with the "LB" Button) and when you get near enough, hold the "RB" Button to assassinate him.

    I haven't had a chance to test this theory out for myself yet, but I've read that an easier way to achieve the Assassination is to use a Jetpack and fly as high as you can above an elite and allow yourself to drop on top of them, holding the melee button as you make contact. If for any reason the Elite starts to wander before you reach him, you can always reactivate the Jetpack's thursters and try again. Like I said, not tried or tested and it might just be a waste of your time. But if you're still struggling; you may as well give it a go, right? Good luck, oh, and lemme know if it works...

    Even though some claim that it can be done on Nightfall, I myself did on on the last level, the Pillar of Autumn, after 10+ tries (and I've tried the Nightfall way for 40 mins, 35+ tries!). The trick is to land directly BEHIND the Elite, and to do that (that is, to get that kind of distance), you need to turn off sprint (LB) just a second sooner before you land, and in that precise moment, press the melee button (RB) to start the execution animation. Even though I got the animation on two occasions, only the third one nailed me the achievement itself.

    ok so this one just poped for me and i can confidently say that the gun dont matter the checkpoint dont matter and the animation dont matter. firstly what u need to perfect is the timing of when u press the meele button if ur just assasinating them without the animation then its to late if ur not hittin em at all obliously to early, i personally pressed it as soon as i could react to my crosshairs turning red.when u jump u wanna be lookin down at em and try to land not on their head but right behind them as close as possibe(dont forget to tap the lb button in the air to stop the sprint but u dont have to let off the joystick). now if ur gettin the animation with no cheevo its because ur not ending the sprint high enough in the air. it will take a couple tries but u wanna line up ur jump an

    I really think that most of what people are saying is just coincidental things that happened when the achievement worked for them. I think that the achievement is just really picky for some reason. If you just keep trying to get it, it will eventually pop, have faith.

    There really is nothing you can do differently to make it work or not. I assassinated the guy on Pillar of Autumn 15 times and it gave it to me on the last one when absolutely nothing had changed in my form. All i can tell you is what everyone else says, just keep tryin til it pops.

    My Son did it tonight. He did it on the Pillar of Autumn level, I think with the Black Eye skull turned on. Used a grenade to drop his shields and then ran/jumped off the ledge to perform an assassination of the Elite below. He's 10 years old.

    Yeah, took about an hour here. I did it on pillar of autumn and it seemed easier to go around the boulder to the right of you at the cliff. Gives you a perfect line of sight when the elite walks to the grass and try to fall a little short. Sounds crazy but you kind of need to brush the ground right when you catch him.

    I think I figured it out. If you miss him entirely you die... Good jump. if you touch him, say hit him and he didn't die or no assassination you live. You have to come down just close enough to assassinate but don't touch him, like with your feet or arm, before the assassination. I think you can land on him and live and then assassinate him.

    Just got this also, had more difficulty getting the timing down, once I jumped I would turn off sprint and wait until I was right on top of him and hold down RB and got it easily.

    This thing is IMPOSSIBLE! I have killed and killed and killed about a hundred poor Elites and I got nothing! I also tried landing everywhere - head, back, spine, hand, mouth...nothing works!!

    @ #180, this is difficult but not impossible. It took me almost an hour to finally get this on Pillar of Autumn. Things that worked for me: -use the handgun -walk to the edge by the rock & look down at the eliteto line up your jump -you only have to sprint for a second or two so don't back up too far before you jump. -stop sprint about halfway down -melee just milliseconds before you land on him looking down the whole time I did this on normal difficulty, no skulls or anything like that. Watch the youtube video it helped me a lot.

    This was quite the tricky achievement to get. The best place to get this is on the last mission (not Lone Wolf because that isn't really a mission). You can do it on any difficulty, except easy. Just run and jump off the cliff at the begining of the mission when the elite is near it. You will have to jump off near the larger rock near some bushes, when jumping you'll have to hold down the sprint ability and let go of it right before you perform the assassination move on him. *Note - If you accidentally bump into the elite before the assassination it won't count because you will have technically survived the fall. The fall has to be approx. 50 Meters which it will tell you when your zoomed in with the visor. Good luck to anyone who goes for this one.

    This is bullshit. I've read like every comment, every Achievement guide on the internet, and have personally nailed the assassination about a dozen times and it doesnt pop up. I'm starting to think different copies of the game are fucked for this because Ive read about other people who cant get it no matter what, even when people who have it try on their game.     Just got it on Nightfall. Look, all these tips and such.. they are all vodoo remedies, akin to standing on one leg and flapping your arms so that you"ll please the chicken god and he'll give you ready cooked chicken.. this achievement is a luck based achievement. Prepare to spend hours trying to get it. Or none at all.. Or days.. But keep trying and odds are you'll get it eventually.

    HELL YES!!!! I finally got it on Nightfall. I just assassinated the first elite and then waited for the elite down below to face away. I did this on Legendary, turned my sprint off right before I landed on him, and on my third assassination animation I got it. I really does seem to be all about luck!

    I did it on Pillar of Autumn, it took me about 45min but like people are saying if you don't turn off sprint you can survive the fall. Also, if you land on top of the Elite then you will either just die, or kill him with a melee attack, or assassinate him after touching him. All of these will make the achievement not spawn.

    Something that helped me get this achievement that I haven't read about much: Use the pistol while performing the assignation. Make sure you train your sights on the elite so that the reticule is red as you initiate the assignation. I jumped on his back when I did this. Remember to turn off sprint so your high enough to die from the fall, I did this on legendary at pillar of autumn.. Hope this helps.

    To everyone saying that they did it but the achievement didn't pop: You have to cancel the sprint about midway down. So sprint off the cliff, press the sprint button again when you're about 3/4 of the way down, and then assassinate.

    Ridiculously bugged is all I can say. Must've done the assassination about 50 times, in several different ways, on different maps. Tried all different tips being given (using pistol, cancel sprint, etc) but no luck. Wonder why this hasn't been fixed yet. How could this achievement have made it into the game in the first place? -_-

    Not really bugged (except for one minor point) but most people don't fully understand what is needed for this achievement. The hardest part is not to actually land on the back of the elite, you want to be behind him and not on top of him. That way, if you miss the assasination, you'd end up dying rather than breaking your fall on the elite and live from that. However, there is one grassy section behind the truck to the right that can be glitchy, I've lived through several missed jumps in that area so I have a feeling if that glitch happens while you're trying for the achievement, it'll cause you not to get it. Stay away from that grassy patch!

    After spending over an hour at the start of Pillar of Autumn I gave up trying to get this. Then I tried iSteezy's suggestion to get this at the start of Nightfall on legendary and I got it in 10 minutes. On Nightfall the Elite is much closer so you can worry less about the running and jumping and more about the assassination. Despite what the achievement description says, the fall does not need to be fatal. The fall at the start of Nightfall only does 50% shield damage.

    Hahaha... hah... hah.... sigh... Took me about an hour to do it but I finally did. Just kept jumping and jumping off the cliff in pillar of autumn, either missing, landing on the elites head with neither of us dying, or landing on the elite punching him and him dying. Finally the first time i got an assassination animation i got the achievement. I didn't even get that special looking animation.... >.> Oh and people should stop misinforming others, I did it on Normal.

    Hey guys, just wanted to give some hope to those that haven't got this. After 2 days of continued attempts and over 300 deaths I did get this achievement. I also did alot of research in between. This achievement isn't glitched..it isn't even buggy, it's just really really picky about the circumstances required to occur for it to pop. It doesn't matter where you do it (nightfall or pillar) doesn't matter what skulls etc etc, all that extra stuff it doesnt matter, you can be on normal or higher. Make sure to not be sprinting and the most important part is getting the assassination properly. I made a file and put it on my file share. It is 3 minutes long because I wanted to show the failed attempt so you can see how to NOT do it. There is a trick with the assassination that you cannot mele

    too late (i know some of you know this) but it is hard to explain in text and better seen then said. Just understand that the full animation of your melee(if you have pistol equipped you sort of swing your left arm, well if you time it so that wen the arm is fully extended you land on the elite that will initiate the proper asassination) when you get the animation that you sort of zoom in and like jump on his head to kill him..that is the WRONG animation, that means you landed ON the elite and basically made the achievement null. http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=16112210&player=eXoduzOnFiRe

    Just please take the time to watch my file and slow it down on the failed attempt and on the successful attempt so you can take notice to the differences maybe. There was a video on youtube that alerted me to the difference in when you do the melee(it comes down to basically milliseconds) but once I realized it I got it after 10-15 attempts. You'll notice my frustration near the end of the video where I basically keep messing up and having to restart, but it culminates into me landing the assassination perfectly(you'll notice the different animation from the failed attempt and also the timing of the melee) Honestly if I can do this any of you can, just know that the achievement will not come easy. just do a little video hunting and learn what you can about the frames and such and you

    Hello again guys. If you don't remember, i was one of the people who couldn't do this after trying for many hours straight. I gave up on doing this about two months ago until last weekend. I only had three more achievements on reach to do and this one was one of them. I go on pillar of autumn and on my second attempt on got the stupid achievement. Thank you Lord, i finally got it. My suggestion for those who cant get it, stop trying to do it for about two weeks to a month and play multiplayer or work on the other achievements. Then come back after that time and try it.     The Pillar Of Autumn -Legendary This took me almost 18 minutes. Here are some tips of what I did to get this achievement. 1) Switch To Pistol No reason other than making it easier for you to see what you are doing. Since Pistol takes up less screen. 2) Pick One Spot Elite Goes To Pick one of the two closer spots the elite goes to and watch him to go to that spot and remember how long it takes him to get there. I found going back and forth kind of screwed my timing and distance up making it harder and more time consuming. Make sure you watch him to make sure he is going to your spot not the opposite. I can’t stress watching him enough. 3) Turn Sprint Off right after jump you have to use your sprint to reach him. Use sprint on the run up and turn it off in the air. I turn

    I turned it off right after I left the ground that way I had more time to focus on controlling the jump towards the elites back. In case you have no idea how to shut it off, hit the sprint button again. (FYI, I left sprint on one time and I got the assassination and got the cut away, however, no achievement .     (If you wait till he is in place or close to being in place, he will be walking away as you are falling to your death and then he will be merely laughing at your corpse as you failed.) You actually want to land just behind his neck. If you are landing in front or on top move the spot you are jumping from back a hair away from edge of cliff. If you are falling short move it towards the end of the cliff. Make sure to control your jump while landing. There is a red bush on the right side that is what I used to figure out where to jump. I had several melee hits and survived, don’t get frustrated it just means you are close. The more frustrated you get with this the longer it is going to take you.     Finally got this. The problem I had was that I was reading the guide on how to do it and was holding RB to do the assassination. I had forgotten that I had changed my controller config to use B for melee and assassination instead. Only took me a few tries after I realized i was pressing the wrong button.

    For all of you having problems getting this one on Pillar of Autumn (I tried for HOURS) give up on that and try Nightfall. Make sure it's on Legendary. After you sneak up on the first elite and take him out there is one below. If you jump off there (don't have to sprint but can, just make sure it's off). Achievement popped on my first try. I had never been so elated and pissed at the same time

    Iv read the comment and tried it all, Iv deleted my Gamertag and recovered it (advice on Bungie.net). My friend who got it on his Gamertag and has tried using my Gamertag and it just wont happen! On Pillar Of Autumn level I jump off the cliff, turn off sprint almost immediately, perform the assassination but nope! I can even jump straight off the cliff and land on the ground without sprinting and I survive without losing any health or shields O_o

    I've tried this achievement for 4+ hrs and still havent got it!! Im getting really f@$king frustrated to the point where im gonna throw my xbox! I watched all the possible videoes on youtube, cleared my cache, etc, etc. Done the 'Assassination' over 150 times in the correct motion (jumping on the head) I release sprint with loads of time to get the right fall speed and still nothing. Do not understand this fkd up achievement! PLEASE HELP!!!

    Okay folks here is what I did, I tried a lot on Pillar of Autumn and sucked at it, I could never actually do the assassination. I switched to nightfall and did it this way; Sneak up on the first elite, melee him but don't assassinate as it could wake up the 2 sleeping grunts, kill the 2 sleeping grunts with a whack to the head as well, I did this with the pistol. continue along the trail until you get a checkpoint (just so you have a close place to re=try from)then move a little way back along the trail, maybe a few meters, just so you are over looking the purple tall thing (I don't know what it is called or what it does)the elite moves around quite fast so watch the full circuit a few times to get a feel and then when he is nearest the cliff run and jump off and assassinate, I found

    Took me 60+ hours for those that are stuck on this cheevo :p Finally got it on Nightfall, just persist. You don't need to do anything like resetting the cache or remove/retrieve your gamertage (wtf!), I'd say it's harder than the Mile High Club achievement on MW, and that was something! When mine popped, I didn't die from it, the power for my health was flashing red and I lost one bar of health (so the blocks were flashing yellow) Ran up to the checkpoint on nightfall (melee killed the elite at top and two grunts) got the save, then ran back along the path I just came from and jumped up to the left to stop the annoying computer sniper disturbing them. I then sprinted across to the elite on the ground, spun around and snapped his god damn annoying neck.

    Is there another button I can use to sprint? My sprint button on my controller refuses to co-operate making this achievenemt that much harder to accomplish! I've done this once, I may have, to have my son do this for me! I've done everything everyone suggested but can't get my controller to do what I need it to do.

    So after trying for about 4 hours and mastering the assassination (where you see the animation of Noble 6 killing the Elite) but NEVER getting the achievement, I went into the Controller Options and changed my Button Layout to 'RECON' where 'Melee Attack' is switched to the (B) button. After doing so I got it my first try on 'Pillar of Autumn'. Worth a shot if you feel like you've mastered this achievement and still haven't gotten it. Best of luck guys!

    For me, this achievement is mostly trial and error. The only way I was able to get this achievement is on the very beginning of the Pillar of Autumn. At the very start of the mission you are on a ridge where you can look down and see an elite patroling a small area directly below. I got this achievement by backing up about three steps, activated my sprint ability and jumped off the cliff and landed on the elite (doing this requires carful timing, where you must wait for the eliute to stop on one of his patrol spots.)

    I've noticed why it may not work for some people. When you're performing this assassination, it has to be the one where you push the Elite over and jump on his head crushing it. I don't think it counts the assassination if you stab the Elite. I'm pretty sure on this because I didn't get it the first time when I stabbed it, and my friend didn't either and I saw his video of him stabbing the Elite as well. Anyway, my two cents, good luck with it!

    I read the tips here before attempting it and got it in under 10mins, real nice and easy, thanks. Remember to click LB in the air to 'turn run off' and time your jump carefully! Good luck Did it on Normal difficulty, no skulls on.

    I officialy hate this achievement. Done it more than 10 times both in normal and legendary, with several different animations, and always stopping the run as soon as I jump. And... NOTHING. Worst of all, the elite is never where the video shows, it always changes places between reloads, and is 95% of the time too far to reach (in the red bush instead of the closer orange one) or even between the 2 trucks or the edge of the bridge!

    i had a hard time just getting the animation. i usually just assassinated him then died.. i figured out that i was trying to sprint from too far back and wasn't holding down the RB button early enough. Got it after a good couple tries.

    This literally took me three or so hours before I finally got it. Even after trying many different video tips, it still took forever to find that "sweet spot" to transition from sprinting to attack mode. *sigh* what a relief it was when I got it. It seems this achievement is very glitchy. Probably something a tester did and Bungie thought it was cool so they put it in as an achievement. As it turns out, it's not cool, it's infuriating.

    Looking back at my temp file i have lost 1 hour 10 min and 40 seconds of my life for 25G but i did it after realizing i needed to hold mele longer to assasinate and with the help of this visual timing page i found.     After trying to get this since i got the game at christmas, I finally got it!!! Used the skull n grenade combination as mentioned above n got it on third attempt. First and second attempts were next to the red bush on the right when u look down, and third was on the left left near the truck! Dont know if this is of any significance :S! Just glad i can keep the remainder of my sanity now this is done!!! @271: I dont think the style of assasination has any effect on the achievement because i got it by snapping the elites neck.

    INSANE ACHIEVEMENT! I have performed the assassination legitimately over 10 times now and clocking up over a good hour or two. I pulled off the jump (switched off sprint), aimed correctly at the Elite, melee'd the dude and landed safely but NOTHING! What the sweet shit is going on!?

    I remember this one, me and a friend were attempting it over the mic until I hear him shout out that he got it, me thinking he was BS'ing me checked his achievements and there it was flipping me off, after two more tries I got an achievement more satisfying than all of the Vidmasters. I hate to see people getting pissy at Bungie just because they can't get a little 25G achievement though, it's quite pathetic.

    Just tu clear thing up real quick. It dosent matter what difficulty ur on. I was on Heroic. It dosent matter wether u start over or start from the check point. I dont remmember what my Assassination looked like but Im perty sure I stabed him n the back and then n the neck. I was on (Pillar of Autumn)(mission 10)(mission X)! There is a rock 2 ur right.Not that right ur other right! HA HA! Jk. Sprint keeping that rock so close if u moved any closer u would be on top of the rock. Whate untill the last sec. then Jump. Stop Sprint. Watch ur feet.Line up and Assassinate em. Good Luck.

    If ur hav'n 2 much truble that way try this. I came up with it but never got 2 try it. Sad. If u use this let me know. Set up a Fire Fight,Gruntpocalypse. Then customize it 2 Elites only n'sted of Grunts. All Elites.All the Time. The set ur Jump 2 like 500% or higher. Then set the gravity 2 be'n really heavy.U should be able 2 kill ur self with just 1 jump. How cool is that!? U can Equipe Jet Pack just n case. Look for an Elite 2 Assassinate and (If They Came To Hear Me Beg)!!!! If u use this let me know. Good Luck.

    @Anyone who thinks this achievement is impossible. The only reason why this achievement is hard is because... When you assassinate the Elite, you might've survived. This is caused by the shaped ground, causing you to slide instead of bang on hit. This all happens when you fall off the Spire. None the less, this is an insane achievement.

    If anyone gets this far down the comment list like I did, let me help out (finally got it 2 hours in). 3 Places to do it: Nightfall *recommended see below*, Pillar of autumn, Tip of the Spear (last load) What we know: It is glitched, by glitched I mean, not working as intended. Too lazy to look it up but thanks whoever posted http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=Reach_FAQ#_18 "If your lunge is too forward it will slow your fall and this achievement will not be triggered as you are no longer traveling at a terminal velocity.     not health, not player model, not distance, so pitch the skulls and use whatever weapon you prefer. Pillar of Autumn Method: Bungies FAQ basically said that you have to fall at the same direction as the melee or your speed will change to the melees before hes assassinated. So fall directly behind, looking down and smack just behind his head. Nightfall Method: The reason I prefer this one is that you take "Terminal Falling Velocity" and replace "Top running speed" Sprint runs just as fast as your falling speed before they instantgib you. The melee is actually now the same direction as you should be traveling (forward) and will just lunge you ahead as to changing your fall speed. Do it on legendary and hug left before you do a full assassination on the top level guard as to not ale

    Did it on normal difficulty on the pillar of autumn mission. The cliff jump on the first elite. I tried it a bunch of ways and got the assassination (and survived) but you have to hit it a special way to unlock the achieve. I believe you have to stop your sprint in order for it to go through.

    EASY WAY put BLACK EYE skull on difficulty normal or higher and start campaign and at the beginning. throw a hand grenade at yourself so you will lose your shield and almost all of your life and walk through the check point and just do the you jump like in the video only now you have almost no health so you will die every time

    hi, i know what the problem is. you can not!!!!!!!!!!!! connect to xboxlive for this and download the new extra that he want you to do when you are connected to xboxlive. so when you want to play it for the first time. you insert the disc for the first time you have to have discoment internet before you put the disc in and play the game and get the achevement than when you got it you can connect again and do the internet games i dont have any xboxlive at the moment du to not having internet. i got this the first time i landed on the alite. did took me half a hour yust to land on the alite and not yump to my death. :) but i got it in 1 go on the the pillar of autumn level. dont need to restart level when you fale and yump to your death. dont need to trow a handgran

    dont need to trow a handgranade at yourself. got it on normal/can do normal and higher so your shield will be gone faster. but it dousent make a differens. my brother did already play on xboxlive and he cant get it on the same xbox. ore on hes xbox i also tryed it same way as i got myn. so the download they ask you to do in the beginning of the game with xboxlive is giving a glitch for this acheavment. so hoop this helps somebady there. yust when you are gona play for the first time do not have your xbox on xboxlive. play it without xboxlive till you have the acheavement. you will also get more points than the 60 per level you get when you have connected to live. like per level about 2000 on easy till 10000 on verry hard

    This achievement is f***ing impossible now. I remember when Reach first came out. I was using a different Xbox Live account. I got the achievement after 4 tries. With my new account, I've been trying for about 5 months. This is BS! I should have accidentally unlocked this achievement by now. Bungie needs to patch this crap. I'm only missing this achievement, the achievement for collecting all the flags in stockpile, and the achievement for 2 deaths from the grave. After that, I'll have completed 100% of Reach. All 59 achievements.

    This achievement is really glitched! I've assassinated that elite a couple of time while deactivating "sprint" when I'm in the highest point in the air. Everytime I miss the elite I die. And yet no achievement whatsoever... Bungie really needs to patch it!

    I figured it out. This achievement DOES seem to be glitched. But I believe I have the solution. If you attempt the kill, see the animation but the achievement fails to pop, restart the mission at that time. Reattempt and reassess. Basically, if you see the animation and the achievement doesn't pop, you must restart the mission. You may then attempt it over and over again until you see the animation. If you don't get it upon seeing the animation, then go ahead and restart the mission. I tried this on not 2 but 3 accounts and found this to be the solution. If you see the animation but don't get it, then that 'restart' is bad and you must then go ahead and restart again. Every time you have a failed animation, that means you must restart.

    Dude, I lost count on how many TIMES that I got that guy and it did not trigger the assassination animation. Hell, a couple of times I stood right on top of him. Do you have to do this on Legendary? I run into the problem of that Elite side stepping and going "HA HA HA"

    I finally got this after like forty tries. I managed to do the assassination earlier (after about twenty tries) but I guess te fall wouldn't have been fatal so I didn't get the achievement but bottom line keep trying no mater how many times you fail, you'll do it eventually.

However, the guys who suggest doing this on Nightfall have the right idea. That's how I finally got this bitch of an achievement. I got unlucky and it took me a while to get it, though. But I'm sure that others can get in a way fewer attempts than I did.

    Just got this. On Pillar Of Autumn - without restarting the level every time. I got kind of lucky that I pulled the Checkpoint save at just as the Once More Into the Breach label showed up and the elite was in the right place near the truck. I was able to run off the cliff without looking each time and after a few goes at it - I did 4 perfect back to back assassinations (and the jumping on the head animation repeated each time) and the achievement unlocked on the forth one. This is my second day attempt at this - spent a good couple of hours yesterday to no avail - got it within about half an hour today. I'd say that this requires an extremely accurate set of requirements to get this - basically beyond a players control - but is doable if you stick with it. Good luck!

    Sounds weird but i've been trying this for 30+ minutes and i saw on another site someone had the same problem, and he said he restarted the mission, not the checkpoint and when the elite you jump on was gold he pulled off the assassination and the cheevo popped, now i did the same thing and when the elite was gold IT WORKEEEDDDD!!!! keep trying until he's gold, let us know if it works this way for you too

    Tried every suggestion multiple times without success. Best I can figure is that it's just coincidental when people performed certain things and they think that is how they got the achievement. Honestly what difficulty/skulls you are on, the animation you get, checkpoints/restart, etc don't make any difference. After reading Bungie's comment on the achievement the only factor which seems to matter is to maintain terminal velocity. This means a couple of things: Cancelling sprint as soon as you can (to increase falling speed rather than travelling speed). Face down at an angle not forward so when you lunge the movement is down and not forward (and therefore not slowing your descent) And landing directly behind the Elite, not on him. This is the only conclusion that makes logical

    For those who think the achievement is glitched, it is. Took me about a week to get, successfully performing about 100 assassinations and committing suicide over 1000 times. I normally play at a friend's house, local Co-op. I'm almost always P2. In fact, after he logged out we discovered I actually didn't have a save file because he was primary every time. He had to log back in to give me access to The Package. He got it first assassination as P1, then sat there for days watching me fail and not understanding what was different about my attempts. Then we logged my gamertag in as P1, and what do you know, first assassination it pops. So the glitch with this achievement is that it only counts for player 1. If you're playing any other slot, give up, it won't work.

    okay, just spent 30 mins to get this. for anyone just trying to get this, do it on Pillar of Autumn like the video says. also, do NOT "revert to save;" instead, RESTART THE LEVEL, skip the video, and you have to do it right the first time. honestly, after 20+ jumps, it's not hard to jump out to the elite each time. the FIRST time i restarted the level instead of going back on a checkpoint, the achievement popped up.

    Just got this. Done on legendary, the elite was by the overturned vehicle (not the truck), pistol out, stopped running at the peak of the jump. The crosshair was white, not red (aim just off the elite) After getting the animation several times, i figured that the 'load' itself was glitched, not the achievement. If you get the animation, but no achievement, don't restard the save. Instead, quit and load up the mission again from the begining (pillar of autumn). May have been luck, but i have saved it to my file share. GT: DarkTranqulity

    Step 2 I did this by waiting until he patrols left and facing away me (of course) and then as soon as he got to that left position, i ran back, Speed Ran to the edge of the cliff, jumped, turned off Speed Run and then while facing forwards, until i was just a fist away from the elite (more closer to his back and not his head) i Meleed and assassinated the elite.     Step 3 Whenever i failed i just reverted to checkpoint, which made it quicker. After doing this about 20 times (also 20 minutes) the first assassination i did successfully was when i got the achievement. No glitch, no checkpoint reverting problems, just simple. This isn't as hard as people make it out to be as long as you do it in this level. Hope i helped.

    One I won't be getting. so broken and bugged. Not only do I get an elite that stands still, but I test what happens when I don't even try to melee, with no boost of course, I die to fall damage, try it in the exact same spot, assassinate 500+ times, no achieve. Hope bungie fixes it, shouldn't be RNG of having to retry and do the exact same thing over and over until your hand falls off when they eventually just go, ok, we'll give it to you. This achieve is harder than beating the game solo, on legendary.

    Honestly this achievement isn't hard at all, all it takes is a bit of patients, and as well a little bit of skill.. The mission before the last mission, where it's just you and Emile, heading towards the gun that shoots the scarabs and everything, there should be a cliff that you walk past. Down there, there should be a elite, facing the other way, now if you wait to long, the elite will start moving, and you'll lose your chance in getting this achievement, the best thing to do at that moment, is to sprint and as you jump let go of sprint, that should give you enough distance to get right behind the elite and just enough air to where if you don't make the assassination you die.     Spent around 4 hours trying this on pillar of autumn. Got it third try on nightfall. No skulls or any other random stuff people try and say. Even did load last save not restart level. Put it on legendary assassinate the first elite then as soon as the one right below faces away sprint until you are right behind him, end the sprint, then assassinate him. I had the pistol out also.

    I've done it successfully on Pillar of Autumn about 30 times now. Ended the sprint as soon as possible, jumped as far as possible, got both the headstomp animation and the knife in the neck one. landed on top of him and landed behind him. I've used the pistol, I've done it on the first try without checkpoint or reload save. I'm going completely fricking insane!

    Okay I finally got it on my 50th successful assassination. I was basically on auto-pilot because by now I can almost do it in my sleep. Really. The final one was different because I was certain I had failed, my jump was way off, I landed on the elites left shoulder and I thought I wasn't even behind him. But since I was barely paying attention I think I hit the meleebutton too early. I could barely even see the elite, all I saw was the dirt road in front of him. but number six stomped on his head and popped the achievement anyway! Most random achievement ever.

Side note: The game sucks. The story is so boring, I actually skip the cut scenes, and I usually never do that. Halo has lost its savor.

    Took me almost four LONG hours, but I finally got it. I can't really help those of you who haven't got this achievement because to be honest, I have no idea how I got it. I followed the video exactly as it was shown, and had been doing so for almost four hours. I must have assassinated the Elite over one hundred times and the achievement just wouldn't show. I was getting really frustrated and angry, and then I decided that this achievement wasn't worth my time, so after one more jump I was going to quit.     A very difficult achievement in terms of patience. I would say that my advice is timing. I waited for him to fully do a 180 turn then I ran and jumped. Make sure to turn your sprint off, at least I turned mine off, and then waited till I was behind him in the air by 2 to 3 inches then assassinated. My problems were: (1) I was hitting RB too soon and (2) I usually didn't provide enough space between me and the elite to perform the assassination. Trust me when I say that I was just as frustrated as the rest of you. Good luck guys and gals and everything in between!

    This one is definitely glitched- freakin' Bungie. I had to do the assassination many times on Legendary and it eventually popped. The jump and timing aren't so hard once you've done it a few times, but even when the assassination animation takes place after turning off sprint, the achievement will likely not pop for many tries. I know I was doing it correctly because EVERY time I missed the Elite, I died instantly. There are even times that you will just melee the Elite and it will not do the full animation, just the hit which pisses him off then you just restart and try again. At least the checkpoint on Pillar of Autumn is right by the cliff. Going through a level only to have it fail this many times would be unbearable.

    Choose the mission "Nightfall". You must play it on Legendary, or else an Elite will be missing (the one you must assassinate). At the start of the mission you will see the first Elite. Beat him down, don't assassinate him because it will alert every enemy in the area. After you kill him, you will see the second Elite below you. Wait until he's not facing you. Make sure to sprint towards him, jump for it, and attack him right when you're about to touch the ground. It took me about 7 successful assassinations to get achievement, but I believe that it's WAY easier to get your 25G in this mission rather than at the Pillar of Autumn.

    Omg just got this achievement what a mission. I can assure you it's not glitched but it's just really awkward to get as most of the time the elite slows your fall velocity which makes the fall non fatal and is why 90% of the time you don't get the achievement. Just keep trying all the tips on here work great you just need that bit of luck to get it just right....annoying I know as it takes the skill out of it

    Took so long till I got some tips off YouTube: 1) pillar of autumn 2) legendary 3) black eye on 4) when mission starts throw 1 grenade at feet and then throw other grenade close by too lower shields even more but not kill you. Then after you get the checkpoint you won't have to do this every time. 5) aim for the back of the elite, not directly above him, almost as if your aiming for the ground right behind him 6) don't forget to turn off sprint in midair Good luck! I can't believe how long this took, the most important step for me was throwing the grenades and turning on the black eye skull. At first I thought it was how high or aiming at the ground.     If people are successfully assassinating the elite, but are not getting the achievement, read on: - I use recon controls (B to melee) -Must have assassinated him 5 times with no achievement - Switched to default controls (RB to melee) - Got it first time I also saw someone mention this in vice versa (Using default then changing to recon) So my advice would be to just try it in different controller configurations.     Aaaahh, finally popped. Thanks to Nightfall Inc. for the tips. I had done pretty much everything listed, that being: On Pillar of Autumn, with Black Eye on Heroic, using grenades to weaken yourself before the checkpoint. I used the assault rifle with Recon control settings (not sure it matters)and turning off sprint mid-air. But the one change I made after trying 50-60 times was to STOP pushing forward on the left joystick and just simply drop behind the elite. With this change I got it on the 2nd try.     Load "Pillar of Autumn" on legendary and when you reach the big cliff before the small bridge and see the elite. Sprint off and about halfway stop sprinting and hold the melee button behing the elite. It took me several tries because the elite moves a lot.

    Just got this after hours of trying over a couple days. I read all of the comments and tried to do it all, and I think it just comes down to luck and/or precise timing. This achievement is definately glitched but is possible to get with extreme discipline in your form. Here is how to replicate exactly how I got it. 1. Co-op. I was doing it on co-op with my wife's account just to see where the elite was moving first. (May not be required but if you have a 2nd controller it can't hurt.

This I can confirm is important as I tried hundreds of attempts without doing this and then when I tried it I got it almost effortlessly on mine AND my wife's account. 4. Release sprint about half way down but make sure you are going to land almost right on top of the elite. 5.     WOO-motherf@cken-HOO!!! This achievement took me forever. PoA, with Iron, Black Eye, and Tilt skulls on Legendary is the way to go! Gotta get the jump off right at the edge of the cliff and look straigth down. i turned off sprint right before I hit the melee button. got the knife stab to the neck cutscene. My best advice if you're not getting this take a few days off and try again. The jump right at the edge of the cliff was what i did different today. It gives you an extra bit of height to the fall.     I just got it! My strategy on Pillar of Autumn was to wait until the elite moved to the little red bush just behind the overturned bus, then I jumped directly on top of him (turned off sprint 1/2 to 2/3 of the way down)& timed the melee just right. And I had started from the beginning of the level for the achievement to pop. I started from the respawn point & got the assassination a couple of times but no achievement. (didn't use any skulls)

    After 30 minutes, 10 melee's and 5 glitched assassinations, I FINALLY GOT IT. What a pain in the ass! My only tip is when you are in the air and turned off sprint, try to position your body perfectly with the back of his, just running and jumping straight at him resulted in missed melee's and then splattered spartan on the ground.

    Like most of you I tried that achievement for about three to four hours straight. I didn't get it. Now that I've finally done it (on Nightfall by the way), I'm quite certain that the reason this doesn't work isn't the sprinting problem. I sprinted all the way through the air up onto the Elite and still got it. Instead, the real reason it doesn't work is that you mustn't hold the left joystick forward while assassinating. I got the achievement the first time I tried that way. Hope it'll work for you guys!

    Whoa WOO! I just got it! Had to post! Must've tried everything here (on PoA) and decided about 1.52pm that if I hadn't done it by 2pm I'd come back when I've finished campaign! I didn't use the pistol either! Stand on the edge of the cliff until you see the Elite move, either right (behind the bus) or left, then move back a few paces and run up with Sprint activated, halfway take it off and just before you land on his head press RB! Killed it, then jumped on his body and popped!

    I just did this achievement and wanted to note something. I recently tried this on Normal, made the jump, got the assassination cut scene several times but the achievement did not pop. Frustrated, I backed out, restarted on Legendary difficulty, made the jump, got the assassination cut scene and achievement immediately popped. Moral of the story - do on Legendary difficulty only.

    I got it today on Pillar of Autumn. I can confirm = - Sprint off (press LB) on the half way - Look straight on the ground - Be right over him (over his head) and not behind him - Animation for me was the T-Bag If that doesnt work for you it's probably just random, in fact i didn't get it before i tried out what i mentioned above so i might help you too.     Finally got it. I don't think achievement is random. There is just a lot of prerequisites to be met. I can't tell exactly how I've done it but I try my best. - It was on Pillar of Autumn. Nightfall demands anticipation for elite to be in rihgt spot and in general takes more time for each try. I was good on Pillar and wasn't willing to put more time just to lern new scenario with no guarantee of success. - In my case Elite was blue. Some say it must be gold or white. On vids I saw people getting achievement with gold elite. Probably it doesn't matter. - I was on legendary no skulls. Probably it doesn't matter also as long as it is normal or above and you doing it right. - Achievement popped out while reverting to checkpoint. So there is no need to restart mission. I also watched

Execution: Sprint > jump of the ledge (left stick forward and LB) > LB in the air to stop sprinting > RB to assassinate Short press of RB execute just mele attack so you must hold it a little while longer. Reccomandations: - Make a good checkpoint. Start Pillar of Autumn and sprint forward. Just before a big rock checkpoint will be created. Go to ledge and look at the elite. It be near the spot and should be going stright to the convenient spot as on vid. If he is further away make yourself a favor and restat mission and prepare a new checkpoint.     - I was able to assasinate elite nearly each time but without achievement. Something was wrong. If you are in the same situation try to modify execution. I was fiddling with sprint button first, moment in the flight when to stop sprint an so on. Make few exercises. Jump on the ground still sprinting. You will see that you take no damage at all. Then try to find a proper moment of disengaging sprint so the jump will kill you. Achievement requires jump to kill you normally without making assassination. Probably it doesn't matter when you stop sprintg very much. If early in the air you may be unable to reach an elite, if late you could over jump elite. In both cases you should die from height or from velocity. Watching vids from nightfall with unlocks of the achievement I wonder if

    I wonder if height is prerequisite at all. On nightfall there is no way to die from excesive height. Then I went to the assassination button RB. It was the moment when I got the achievement. It was unexpected :) Dont't remember exactly what I have done but it was about engaging RB in the right moment. I reached elite with high velocity (disengaged sprint late just before the elite) and assasinated him. Everything was smooth and quick. P.S. A lot of comment are very confusing or not informative at all. Mortanius comment on that is superb.     Got this one on The Pillar of Autumn. No fancy strategies. Simply did my best to wait, sprint, jump, unsprint, aim, and assassinate. Took 19 attempts but I got that Elite. The only advice I have is to back up and start sprinting the moment the Elite moves toward the strike zone. Other than that, it's just luck.

    after a few days of going for this, biggest thing is TIMING -legendary, full shields, no skulls -make sure to turn off sprint -press and hold RB directly at the moment you're about to hit Elite, too early or late it wont count, timing is the biggest issue

    Glitchiest achievement ever....i did it 100 times correctly and didnt get it until around 300. I tried to get it on my friends console and got it really quick...sometimes it works quick sometimes long :(

    It's not's RB to assassinate! It's the melee button! I use Green Thumb, you know, so I can melee easier, so it's R3!

    The guide is poor and wrong. I've performed the assassination animation but not got the glitchy thing to ping. However - you need to know how to jump: You need to be standing next to the red bush on the corner of big rocky mound and staring at the nearest gray boulder, with Emile just in view at the top of your screen; If you then start your Sprint during the "Race you..." line and jump the cliff while still looking down the Sprint auto-ends (your gun aims forward) and you get time to aim the (held) melee button (Use Green Thumb/R3). Don't cancel the Sprint!

    Tip: Use the pistol - your view is obscured less. I did this with the method I described on my 2nd Assasination animation on Legendary (4 animations on Normal hadn't got the achie). Make sure you HOLD melee. Still rare you actually land on him, as he's shifty. Probably 30 mins.

    This achievement's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Make sure you toggle the sprint as soon as you're sure you'll hit the elite.

    I'm afraid to break it to you guys, but you're all fucking wrong. This achievement is glitched and doesn't require you to get a kill from a hight that would kill you. You can't die from the nightfall height and i've done it from a height that would kill on Pillar of Autumn. This achievement is just glitched permanently on some consoles. I'm glad that bungie isn't making Halo games anymore because they can't make games for shit. Poor peasants
