Smooth Operator Achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Halo 4: Complete all Spartan Ops chapters solo on Legendary difficulty.

  • How to unlock Smooth Operator

As of the April 2015 Title Update, the "Save/Quit" method no longer works when attempting to obtain this achievement. Unfortunately, this means that players will need to legitimately finish all 10 Episode (5 Chapters per Episode) on their own in order to earn the achievement.

With this in mind, players should refer to the following general combat tips when playing each Chapter in Spartan Ops.

    • Utilize the Noob-Combo (Plasma Pistol/Battle Rifle or DMR) often when facing Covenant Elites and Promethean Knights; an overcharged Plasma Pistol shot will drain their shields, and a quick precision shot to the head will down the enemies
    • For loadout purposes, equipping Promethean Vision or Hardlight Shield may prove to be the wisest choice in terms of armor abilities
    • When facing Hunters, get close enough so that they charge at you, allowing time to side step their attack; when the orange flesh on their back is exposed, shoot it, as this is their only weak spot
    • When squaring off against the Promethean Knights, be quick to kill their Watchers first since these AI act as a Knight’s defense unit
    • Try avoiding close-quarters combat with Knights; their arm blades will tear you to pieces in one swipe at times
    • Don’t neglect the basics of using cover; when your shields drop down, hide behind a wall or crouch behind an object before charging back out into battle
It is worth mentioning here that players will have an UNLIMITED AMOUNT of lives during Spartan Ops. As such, do not be hesitant in rushing the enemies when necessary, especially if you desire to quickly activate/reach an objective rather than killing every enemy on the field. Also, the Chapters do not need to be completed in any specific order, so feel free to jump around if you fancy.

Once all 50 Chapters have been completed Solo, on Legendary difficulty level, this achievement will finally unlock.

  • Glitch/bug? Start up each level on legendary and quit. It counts as completing the level.
  • Lol I'll do this just for the legendary solo, then an actual play through xD
  • @1 Nice. With how badly glitched some of this games achievements have been I feel no guilt in taking advantage of this.
  • @3 Yep, another broken thing to add to the MCC broken things list. Not like I care this time though, makes it easy as hell!
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcztebICe4s&feature=youtu.be Video guide if anyone needs it.
  • Who needs a video guide to start a level and quit.
  • This can be done offline. The achievements popped when I signed in.
  • Video Guide Here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxw1RrMofiM
  • Two video guides!? People are desperate to get views on their channel.
  • Wow 2 video guides and no one gave a shout out to the guy who found this glitch? Cheers guys lol....
  • Lol I cant belive this glitch worked, it also stacks with some other achievements, i.e. about half way through glitching this achieve... I also unlocked "up all night" the achiev for completing 250 missions or mp.
  • @1 i fucking hate spartan ops. Thank you so much
  • VIDEO GUIDE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHzaKMDnycM
  • thats funny, i wondered why it showed i had beat the first level on legendary when i hadnt. this glitch still works btw.
  • Is this still working with the latest patch?
  • Is this still working since the newest patch?
  • I'm doing it right now, it works. Hell yeah. Hurry tho
  • I did this, and I completed all 10 chapters (like I got the achievements for all 10) but under completing all Spartan Ops missions and the ones for each difficulty it says its locked at 96%
  • The easy method was patched as of 4/21/2015. I did one mission then the update dropped and it didn't work for any more missions.
  • I really don't like the people who took advantage of the glitch its so god damm lazy
  • I'm an easy going, team player that gets along with almost everyone. Feel free to add me for co-op game-play and help with achievements. GT: sin 1
  • In a game that built itself on playing with friends, why have an achievement for playing solo? Kind of defeats the purpose of enjoying the game. At least it's easy. A little time consuming though
  • @XxCALIBERstrike Don’t try to hide it. You and everyone else know you would do it too
  • Extremely boring achievement. Why would you create a coop game mode and force people to play solo? To kill game mode's population? There's no challenge whatsoever either, since you can die and respawn as many times as you wish. Just 50 missions of killing waves of enemies... alone.

Important note: You need Halo 4 Multiplayer installed in order to play Chapters 6-10. The game doesn't tell you that and simply kicks you back to main menu, if the levels are missing.
