Introduction:
Welcome to Agatha Christie - Hercule Poirot: The First Cases, a point and click adventure game where you play as a young version of the titular detective, back when he was still a police officer. This is a detective game, and as such, works in a similar fashion to most others (Sherlock Holmes games, for example): you'll be exploring the locations to look for clues, talking to and interrogating people to get more evidence/motives, and making deductions in your deduction menu to piece together the events and solve the crimes. The game is broken up into nine chapters, and unfortunately there is no chapter select, meaning the majority of the achievements are missable. Thankfully there aren't any game-spanning achievements that require perfect deductions, meaning you can actually try to solve the crimes and figure everything out on your own without missing achievements. However, there still are many game-spanning achievements for interacting with various things that you'll want to take particular note of to ensure you don't need to play through the entire thing again. Let's get started.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As noted above, there are many missable achievements in this game due to the lack of chapter select. As a result, if you want to avoid two playthroughs, you have two options.

  1. Each of the story-related achievement solutions for completing each chapter contains a full walkthrough of that chapter for both progression and all achievements. Following those will ensure you don't miss any achievements.
  2. If you want to play blind to the extent that you can investigate and solve the crimes yourself, I have listed the missable achievements in order below, separate by chapter, allowing you to follow along with those only, so you don't miss them but can still enjoy the game how it was intended.
Prologue
 Chapter 1
 Chapter 2
 Chapter 3
 Chapter 4
 Chapter 5
 Chapter 6
 Chapter 7
 Chapter 8
 Chapter 9
As long as you followed either of those two options, by the time you complete the denouement in Chapter 9 you should have the full gamerscore. If you missed anything, you'll unfortunately need to play the entire game over again from scratch - nothing carries over between playthroughs.

Conclusion:
I actually found this game to be quite good - faithful to the Agatha Christie character, interesting, full of twists and turns, and engaging throughout. It's a good length for a detective game, long enough to be thorough but not too long to be boring. It will also keep you guessing until the very end, as any Agatha Christie story should. Hopefully you didn't accidentally miss any missable achievements and need to play through a second time. Hopefully you were able to solve the crime. Congrats on the completion!

They are, in order:

  • Visit all locations in the game

    *MISSABLE*

This achievement spans the entire game, and as the description says, requires you to visit every location. The good news is that, in my experience, virtually every single location is story-related and unmissable. In fact, I think they all might be, as there is evidence in every room, so I'm not sure that you can skip any locations. However, to be safe, I have listed all locations below, and what chapters they are first available in. The list is therefore in the order of when you can access each location.

I have only marked one location as missable, because it's the only one I'm not 100% sure on, but it's still in your best interest to visit every location as soon as they become available. I have also flagged this achievement as missable, just in case (better safe than sorry).

If you follow this list, you should unlock this achievement in Chapter 8, as soon as you access the Hidden Room in the house.

  • Meet all characters in the game

This achievement spans the entire game, and as the description says, requires you to meet (i.e. talk to) every character in the game. The good news is that, in my experience, every single character is story-related and unmissable. However, to be safe, I have listed all characters below, and what chapters they are first available in. The list is therefore in the order of when you can first talk to each character.

If you follow this list, you should unlock this achievement in Chapter 5, as soon as you talk to Rehana in the Kitchen (but you will also talk to her unavoidably after that).

    Prologue

    1. Elizabeth
    2. Cassandra
    3. Angeline

  • Make 125 deductions

Refer to Thinking of everything (25G) for more information.
  • Make 150 deductions

While this achievement is technically missable, since there is no chapter select, these achievements are all cumulative over multiple playthroughs.

If you make all deductions in the game, you'll be at somewhere around 160-170 deductions, so there are plenty for this achievement.
  • Inspect all items in the prologue

    *MISSABLE*

There are a whopping 38 items to inspect in the prologue. None of them is missable during the prologue (there are no rooms or areas that are only visited once) so all that matters is you inspect them all before finishing the prologue. They are all listed below, separated by which location they're in.

    Garden

    1. Muddy footprints (right next to where you start)
    2. Plaque (inside gazebo)
    3. Overgrown grass (next to gazebo)
    4. Waterlogged grass (next to gazebo)
    5. Open window (stand just to the left of Elizabeth to get the interaction spot; the window itself is high up on the second floor)
    6. Front door (of the main building)

    8. Flowerbed (right of the trellis)
    9. Bench (right of flowerbed)

    3. Pastries

    5. Personalized handkerchief
    6. Letter (next to Florette on table)
    7. Collection slip (on barrels in the corner)
    8. Wine bottle
  • Admire all paintings in the main hall

    *MISSABLE*

This achievement spans multiple chapters across most of the game, and with no chapter select, becomes highly missable.

There are a total of eight paintings that you need to inspect for this achievement. The "main hall" referred to in the description consists of three floors, not all of which are always available to walk around and explore. However, multiple paintings are available to inspect in multiple chapters, so I have listed when you can first inspect them.

    Chapter 1

    • Grand Hall (bottom floor, where you enter the house) - 1 painting to inspect, in the right hallway, next to the first door you come to
    • Main Hall First Floor (upstairs once from the bottom floor) - 3 paintings to inspect, all along the leftmost wall
    Chapter 2

    • Main Hall First Floor - for some reason, of the 3 paintings inspected above, the middle painting shows up as a new item to inspect. This would be a ninth item on the list, and I'm not sure if it is needed, but better safe than sorry.
Chapter 5 (this is the first time you get access to the upper floor)

    • Main Hall Second Floor - 4 paintings to inspect (three on the left wall and one on the back left wall)
  • Examine all books in the library

    *MISSABLE*

The Library is first accessible in Chapter 2, and you are able to go during a couple other chapters, but best to get it out of the way during your first visit.

There are 9 books that must be inspected for this achievement:

    • 3 are on three of the green tables on the lower left
    • 1 on the bookshelf left of the fireplace
    • 1 on a table amongst multiple couches
    • 1 on the bookshelf right of the fireplace
    • 1 on a shelf next to the window
    • 1 on a desk in the back right corner of the room
    • 1 inside a glass case (right behind where Jackie is standing in Chapter 2)
  • Inspect every window in the game

    *MISSABLE*

This is a game-spanning achievement that requires you to inspect a total of 15 windows across the prologue and main game. There are a few windows that are accessible on many occassions, but there are also many windows that are only accessible once in the game. I have noted which are which in the list below. In general, pretty much every room has a window in it to inspect. The windows in the common areas are accessible throughout much of the game, but the windows in the bedrooms are only accessible at one or two points in the game, so be sure not to miss them.

    Prologue

    1. In the Garden, just to the left of Elizabeth is an interaction point for the open window high up on the second floor of the house (available throughout the Prologue)
    2. In Angeline's bedroom, interact with the open window (available throughout the Prologue, once you have access to the bedroom)
    Chapter 1

    1. Poirot's bedroom - inspect the obvious open window (available in many chapters)
    Chapter 2

    1. Salon - inspect the open window in the back left corner (available in many chapters)
    2. Library - inspect the obvious open window (available in many chapters)
Chapter 3 (two HIGHLY MISSABLE ones)

    1. Major's Study - inspect the obvious open window (only available ONE OTHER TIME)
    2. Major's Bedroom - inspect the window (ONLY TIME THIS IS AVAILABLE)
    Chapter 5

    1. Dining Room - inspect one window on the left
    2. Dining Room - inspect one window on the right
    3. Cassandra's Bedroom - inspect one window
Chapter 6 (all HIGHLY MISSABLE ones; this is the only chapter you will visit these bedrooms!)

    1. Margeux's Bedroom - inspect one window
    2. Jackie's Bedroom - inspect one window
    3. Angeline and Gedeon's Bedroom - inspect one window
    4. Zakariya's Bedroom - inspect on window
    5. Hugo's Bedroom - inspect one window
  • Stop for a refreshment during a key moment

    *MISSABLE*

Right at the start of Chapter 4, you'll be in the Salon and tasked with interviewing multiple people. Instead of talking to them, walk behind the bar in the lower left corner and interact with the bottle to unlock this achievement.
  • Inspect all items hidden in the snow

    *MISSABLE*

This takes place during Chapter 5.

At the start of Chapter 5, you'll be allowed to go outside of the house into the snow-filled courtyard to look for clues. This is your only chance to get this achievement. There are 6 items to inspect, none of which is visible (you'll need to get near them to get an interaction prompt) aside from the final one.

    1. Footprints (right near the door you come out of, to the left)
    2. Lighter (right and down a bit from the door)
    3. Gardening tools (go down from the door and then to the right when possible, and these are next to a bench)
    4. Bird feeder (from the previous one, go straight left to the other side of the courtyard, all the way against the treeline)
    5. Bottles (from the fountain in the middle, go down and right to find these by a blue pot)
    6. Front gate (all the way at the bottom of the screen; this will trigger you to automatically go back inside, so do it last!)
  • Return to the scene of the crime, alone, for a 2nd time

    *MISSABLE*

This achievement must be done during Chapter 6.

During Chapter 6, you'll be inspecting all of the bedrooms. After the first set (you'll automatically go from one to the next; with Angeline's and Gedeon's being the last), you'll be back out on the Main Hall Second Floor. Before going back downstairs to the rest of the bedrooms, go back into the Major's Study on the right wall. Interact with the scrap of paper on the desk in the back left, and this achievement will unlock.
  • Examine all items in the staff-related areas

    *MISSABLE*

This achievement spans multiple chapters across the entire game, as is therefore highly missable. There are a total of 15 items that need to be examined. I have listed them all below, along with where they are and in which chapter you have access to them.

    Chapter 1 - Butler's Pantry

    1. Cupboard
    2. Pots and pans
    3. Letter (next to pots and pans)
    4. House deeds (in the corner)
Chapter 2 - Butler's Pantry (these items are newly present in Chapter 2, but the previous ones also are)

    1. Letter (next to sink)
    2. Photograph (on table)
Chapter 5 - Kitchen (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

    1. Mounted animal head
    2. Open cupboard door
    3. Pots and pans
Chapter 7 - Staff Quarters (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

    1. Logs
    2. Newspaper
    3. Hammock
    4. Cupboard
    5. Luggage
    6. Abandoned clothes
  • Resolve the blackmail and murder cases completely

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This will unlock at the end of Chapter 8.
  • Complete the denouement

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is effectively the same as completing Chapter 9.
  • Pass the denouement, flawlessly

    *MISSABLE*

During Chapter 9, which is all dialogue, there are four instances where you will have to pick the correct dialogue choices to lower the defenses of those you're talking to, and you must respond to all four perfectly to unlock this achievement. The correct responses are listed below, in the order you'll talk to each person.

    Jackie

    • Accusing
    • Forceful
    • Disgust
    Hugo

    • Direct
    • Sarcastic
    • Sympathetic
    Ernesto

    • Direct
    • Straightforward
    • Assertive
    Cassandra

    • Suggestive
    • Antagonizing
    • Sympathetic

Secret achievements

  • Complete the 1st objective

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This will unlock during the Prologue.
  • Uncover a secret/memory from Angeline

    *MISSABLE*

    Prologue

After gaining access to the second floor of the house during the story progression, you'll have access to Angeline in her bedroom. Interact with the missing painting spot in the hall of the second floor, then head into the bedroom. Interact with all of the items in her bedroom (refer to Fine-toothed comb (25G) for a list of them all). Once done, go into your mind map of Cassandra and connect "strange symbol" with "quote on a plaque," as well as "missing painting" with "auction crate." Then, open up your mind map of the crime scene and connect "unprotected" with "broken glass" as well as "open window" with "broken poker." Once you've made those four connections, talk to Angeline again and this achievement will automatically unlock during the conversation.
  • Uncover a secret/memory from Archibald

    *MISSABLE*

    Chapter 8 - The Truth

This chapter sees you going to the Storeroom and findng the Hidden Room with Archibald. To unlock this achievement you need to make the proper deductions in the Archibald Mind Map in order to complete it. After inspecting all items in the Hidden Room, you'll need to make the following deductions:

    • "Blood stains" + "Potential murder weapon"
    • "Rose engraving" + "Unrecognizable symbol"
    • "Military lighter" + "Major's lighter"
Talk to Archibald in the Storeroom about these deductions, and now you can make two more:

    • "Archibald in the garden" + "Open window"
    • "Archibald collected something" + "Major's knife is the murder weapon"
Talk to Archibald to unlock this achievement.
  • Uncover a secret/memory from Cassandra

    *MISSABLE*

    Chapter 5 - The Secret

At the very end of the chapter, after investigating all evidence and making all deductions in the Major's Relationship mind map, head upstairs and into Cassandra's bedroom and talk to her. You'll then need to choose the three correct responses to lower her defenses and unlock this achievement. The correct responses are: Forceful, Suggestive, Forceful.
  • Uncover a secret/memory from Margaux

    *MISSABLE*

    Chapter 4 - The Interrogations

At the beginning of this chapter you'll be required to talk to all of the people in the room and then piece together the clues for the Continue Interrogation mind map. After making all deductions in the mind map, you can talk to Margaux and you'll need to select the two correct responses to lower her defense and unlock this achievement. The two correct responses are: Flattering, Coercive.
  • Uncover a secret/memory from Elizabeth

    *MISSABLE*

    Prologue

This achievement requires you to first complete Elizabeth's mind map, then talk to her. To complete her mind map, you'll need to first interact with the note from Luc in the Lounge (same item that unlocks Luc Piette (15G)), the bench outside along the right side of the house (has a carving on it), the gold band inside the jacket in the first floor of the house, and the formal suit inside the wet package in the Lounge. Once you've interacted with those items, you can complete Elizabeth's mind map:

    • "Note from Luc" + "bench carving" = Elizabeth and Luc were courting
    • "Elizabeth and Luc were courting" + "gold band" = Elizabeth and Luc are betrothed
    • "Elizabeth and Luc are betrothed" + "formal suit" = Mindmap complete
With that done, talk to Elizabeth and this achievement will automatically unlock during the conversation.
  • Uncover a secret/memory from Ernesto

    Chapter 6 - The Search

During Chapter 6 you will talk to Ernesto over the course of the story and need to select the three dialogue options to break his defenses. The correct choices are Straightforward, Concerned.
  • Uncover a secret/memory from Florette

    *MISSABLE*

    Prologue

This achievement first requires you to complete Florette's mind map, and then talk to her. Completing her mind map is the last thing you do in the prologue, so make sure to talk to Florette again before talking to Elizabeth to finish the prologue.

Completing Florette's mind map requires interacting with everything, and then some conversations with Cassandra, Elizabeth, and Angeline. As a result, I recommend following the walkthrough in The Bracelet (50G) to complete her mind map, then immediately talk to her to unlock this achievement.
  • Uncover a secret/memory from Gedeon

    • "Ernesto cares" + "threat to Major"

With that done, talk to Angeline and this achievement will unlock.

Late in the prologue you will eventually get access to the Lounge. Once inside, interact with the note under the left window to unlock this achievement.
