Welcome to HITMAN III, the third and final installment in the World of Assassination trilogy developed by IO Interactive. This game comes complete with six new locations/missions, each with their own mission stories, challenges, and assassination targets. If you've played the previous two entries in the series, there is little explanation needed, and you can simply jump right in. The achievements are in the same format as the previous two entries. The one major difference is that if you've completed HITMAN 2 (including all Legacy content), you can actually transfer over your progress to HITMAN III, saving you a ton of time by avoiding the need to replay all HITMAN and HITMAN 2 missions. Please read the following paragraph for information on transfering your progress over. If this is your first HITMAN game (if you for some reason skipped the first two entries in the trilogy), you're going to really have a lot to do. Let's get started.
Warning: Transferring your HITMAN 2 progress will reset all of your progress in HITMAN III, so if you plan to transfer your progress, do so before starting HITMAN III so you don't lose any progression you've made!
Transferring HITMAN 2 Progress:
First off, be aware that you can only transfer your progression from HITMAN 2, not from HITMAN. However, if you've completed all of the HITMAN Legacy achievements in HITMAN 2, those will all transfer over. So all that matters is that you've completed all of HITMAN 2 (including all of the Legacy achievements).
To get started, you'll first need to go to IO Interactive's website to create an IO account, if you don't already have one, HERE. Follow the steps to transfer your progress from HITMAN 2 to HITMAN III. When you launch HITMAN III, you'll also need to sign in with the same IO account. Once all that's done and the progression is transferred, upon launching HITMAN III you should automatically unlock 31 achievement for 465

All of the achievements in the base 1000

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
The first thing worth mentioning is that there are no achievements nor any challenges related to playing any of the missions on Master difficulty (unlike HITMAN 2). There is therefore no incentive whatsoever to play on anything other than Casual difficulty, from an achievement perspective. This unfortunately also means that there are NOT stackable challenges for Silent Assassin, Suit Only, Silent Assassin Suit Only (SASO), and Sniper Assassin that were easy to take advatange of in HITMAN 2 to reach maximum mastery for each mission. This means you'll need to do almost every challenge in every mission to reach full mastery.
Whether you decide to do them now or later after you've enjoyed the new missions in this game, there are a bunch of "prologue" achievements in the base game that were required in HITMAN and HITMAN 2. So if you've played both of those games, these will be very quick and easy to knock out. Even if this is your first game in the series, the tutorial achievements are pretty simple. The guide below has more information if you need any.
Aside from that, each mission in HITMAN III has the same formula for achievements as the previous two games in the series:
- Complete the mission
- Complete all mission stories for that mission (where applicable)
- Discover all locations in that mission
- Complete specific kill challenges for that mission
- One or sometimes two achievements tied to miscellaneous Easter egg challenges
- Reach maximum mastery level for that mission
The "hardest" part of each mission is reaching maximum mastery level. To help with this, refer to the guide below where I have detailed information on all challenges for each mission. On top of that, in the achievement solutions for completing the mission stories for each mission, I have also included which challenges for kills can easily be done at the end of each mission story so you're prepared and can make most efficient use of your saves. Refer to the guide below for any missions, achievements, or challenges you need help with.
If you've completed all of the HITMAN Legacy achievements in HITMAN 2, transferring your progression to HITMAN III will automatically unlock every achievement in this DLC. If not, you'll need to complete each mission and reach maximum mastery level in each mission. If you haven't played these missions before and want to enjoy them, I recommend taking the same general approach as bulleted above: complete the mission, complete all the mission stories, do an SASO run of the mission, and then complete miscellaneous challenges. Once you've completed all missions and reached maximum mastery level on each mission, you're done with this DLC.
If you've completed all of the HITMAN 2 achievements, transferring your progression to HITMAN III will automatically unlock every achievement in this DLC except Silent Sniper (15G). For that, you'll need to replay Himmelstein and get a Silent Assassin rating. Refer to that achievement for a video guide for doing so. If you haven't played the HITMAN 2 missions, you'll need to complete them all and reach maximum mastery level in each one.
If you've completed all of the HITMAN 2 achievements, transferring your progression to HITMAN III will automatically unlock every achievement in this DLC except Seven Figures (15G), Hawkeye (15G), In a League of Their Own (15G), and Never Knew What Hit Them (15G). Fortunately, the achievements for completing all challenges in the Sniper Assassin maps do carry over, so a single Silent Assasin playthrough of Hantu Port and Siberia will be enough to unlock your four remaining achievements in this DLC. If you haven't played these HITMAN 2 missions, you'll need to complete them all and reach maximum mastery level in each one, and also complete every challenge in the two Sniper Assassin maps. If you haven't played these missions before and want to enjoy them, I recommend taking the same general approach as bulleted above: complete the mission, complete all the mission stories, do an SASO run of the mission, and then complete miscellaneous challenges. For the Sniper Assassin maps, you'll need to complete all challenges, then do a Silent Assassin run to wrap up. Once you've completed all missions and reached maximum mastery level on each mission, you're done with this DLC.
Conclusion:
While nothing groundbreaking has been added in this entry in the series, HITMAN III offers up six new missions, chock full of different unique assassinations and interesting challenges to complete. Don't forget there is also Contracts mode, Escalations, and more coming soon. The achievements will feel very straightforward for those who have played the previous games in the series, and is thankfully far quicker due to retroactive achievement unlocks. HITMAN III is far easier than HITMAN 2 since there are no achievements or challenges tied to Master difficulty, and because the Sniper Assassin maps don't need to be entirely redone. Even so, the very fun gameplay and open world approach to each mission is a blast, and a very enjoyable end to the trilogy. Hopefully you enjoyed this series as much as me, and congrats on the completion!
