Introduction:
A turn based-tactical RPG about a group of troublesome magic students. Use timing mechanics to power your spells and block attacks, explore the twisted halls of a vast magic school, fight challenging monsters and bosses, find tons of hidden treasure, and uncover dark secrets never meant to be found.
Step 1: Complete the Game
Ikenfell is a fairly straight-forward game as far as the story goes. The game will always show your next objective on the map and as text at the top of the menu screen. In the Options menu, you can turn on the "Auto" setting for the QTE battle options which will always give you a "Great" outcome, allowing you to do more damage and defend against more damage without ever pressing a button if you want to lower the difficulty of the game. You can also turn on "Victory Mode" which will give you a battle option called "Victory" to end a battle immediately and insta-kill everything on screen. Enemies with multi-part battles may require this option to be used multiple times. The game isn't super hard to begin with, but if you don't like the battle system or it gets repetitive later on, this can save a ton of time.
Nothing in the game is missable, and after beating the final boss you will reload your last save to continue exploring for the next steps. You can use the lists below to find gems as you play through the story, or just worry about that during Step 2. However, it's a good idea to mark off things as you find them during the story so you don't backtrack to collectibles you already have later on.
Step 2: Find All Gems
You likely found quite a few easily during the story, but for any missing Gems you can check the guide below to mop up what you're missing. You'll need 20 Rare and 8 Shiny to purchase and upgrade all the accessories. You'll also need 10 Sparkly to be able to fight the Allcat in the next step.
Step 3: End-Game Content
Once you have beat the game, you will reload your last save prior to the final boss (there is a cat in the room before which you should use) and can then go about defeating Codexus, the Allcat, and the Specters. See the guide below for more info on these optional bosses. You'll also want to get the Book of Alchemy if you didn't find it during the story.
Step 4: Allcat Ending
The last thing to do now that you have defeated all the optional bosses and found all the collectibles is to beat the game a second time for the special Allcat ending, which should be your last achievement.
Conclusion:
Ikenfell is a very charming game, and has a unique battle system that combines a strategy turn-based grid system with a timing-based QTE system. It can get a little repetitive and tiring, especially when you are just looking for collectibles in the end-game portion, so the Victory Mode option is very welcome. Or if you just want an easy completion, that will speed things up considerably. The achievements and game itself are not very hard to begin with though.
