Introduction:
The Force is strong with this one! Episode VII has finally arrived in LEGO version! Play as your favorite characters from the episode a wide range from Jedi, Stormtroopers, Sith and many more. Explore worlds such as the desert planet Jakku, the ice planet of Starkiller Base and the lush jungle world Takodana in 18 new story levels, six of them with brand new stories leading up to the events in The Force Awakens.

This game introduces new gameplay mechanics, including the enhanced Multi-Builds system, where players can choose from multiple building options to advance the game, or engage in intense new Blaster Battles for the first time, utilizing surrounding environments to drive back the First Order. Plus, you can now command a group of allies, whether it’s to aid you in grappling multiple LEGO plugs or with pushing large items that you can't do alone.

All LEGO games follow the same formula; play through the story then replay the levels in Free Play to get 100% in them. After that is complete, then you tackle the HUBs one at a time. Utilizing this method of gameplay will maximize your time and you will complete the game in no time.

Step 1: Story Mode
There are 12 The Force Awakens and 6 Adventure story levels to play through, each taking approximately 20-30 minutes. There are collectibles in each level, so if you have the opportunity to pick them up, then do so. Note that you won’t be able to pick everything up in the level during Story Mode; certain characters are needed to perform tasks or access areas that are otherwise not available in your first playthrough. This step will take approximately 8-10 hours.

When you’ve completed a level in Story Mode, that level opens up in Free Play, but don’t worry about that yet.

Step 1.5: Stud Farming
After you complete the 12 The Force Awakens story chapters, you fully unlock all five HUBs. There is a way to collect a lot of studs easily. When you select the Millennium Falcon HUB, there is a menu option to play a game called ‘Dejarik Battle’. It’s the holochess game that R2-D2 and Chewbacca are playing in A New Hope. The game consists of surviving six waves of enemies, and after each wave, you can collect tens of thousands of studs. Without any stud multipliers, you can net you up to 300,000 studs or more. Use this method to collect enough studs to purchase both the x2 and x4 Stud Multiplier Red Bricks, which are both found while playing Story Mode (Chapter 4 and Chapter 8 respectively). You’ll have millions of studs in no time!

Purchasing and activating the ‘Stud Magnet’ Red Brick (for 200,000 studs) is a big help as well.

Step 2: Free Play (Levels)
It is recommended that you complete all 18 story levels first before going back and playing the levels again in Free Play. There are some characters that are unlocked later on in the game that are needed for collecting Red Bricks and minikits. It is also recommended that you purchase the ‘Collectible Detector’ Red Brick for 500,000 studs.

Each level contains three Gold Bricks: completing the level, obtaining ‘True Jedi’ and collecting all 10 minikits. There is also a Red Brick in each level. All are required for the 100% achievement. It should take about the same time playing Free Play as it did playing through the story. So you don’t have to backtrack, it is recommended that you play through each level in order and complete them 100% before playing the next.

Note on ‘True Jedi’; this can be obtained in each level if you’ve found, purchased and activated the x2 and x4 Stud Multiplier Red Bricks, both in Story Mode. The x2 Stud Multiplier is found in Chapter 4, ‘The Eravana’ and is available for 1,000,000 studs and the x4 Stud Multiplier is found in Chapter 8, ‘Starkiller Sabotage’ and is available for 2,000,000 studs.

Red Brick Guide

Step 3: Free Play (Hubs)
Now that you’ve fully completed everything in all 18 story levels, it’s time to tackle the HUBs. Each of the five HUBs contains a variety of missions and tasks, whether it is completing First Order or Scavenger missions, races or solving puzzles to collect Gold Bricks. They can be explored fully after you’ve completed the 12 The Force Awakens story levels. Note that some missions do not appear until previous ones have been completed.

This can be done however you like; complete one HUB at a time or mix it up and do like tasks together (complete all First Order missions, retrieve all the carbonite blocks, etc.). To maximize your time, it is recommended that you complete one HUB fully before moving on to the next one, but it’s entirely up to you.

Here is a list of each HUB and how many Gold Bricks each has:

  • D’Qar: 42
  • Jakku: 54
  • Millennium Falcon: 8
  • Starkiller Base: 55
  • Takodana: 35

Step 4: Mop-Up & 100%
Now that both the levels and HUBs are completed, there might still be a couple of things needed to get 100%. Make sure you create a character for the “Cryptosurgeon” achievement as it counts toward the percentage.

Double check to make sure you have all the vehicles with the exception of two (they are unlocked when you complete the final bonus mission).

Also go through the character grid and check to see if you’ve purchased all of the characters. All of them should at least be unlocked at this point (unlocked by completing levels and retrieving carbonite blocks). With some characters having multiple outfits in the same slot, it may be difficult to confirm if you’ve purchased everyone.

Once you’ve collected 249 Gold Bricks and have confirmed that you’ve done everything else, there is one final bonus mission to complete for the last Gold Brick and 100%. It is ‘Starkiller Destruction’ and located on the galaxy map by choosing the Starkiller Base HUB. It is a classic LEGO game bonus level where you have to collect 1,000,000 studs to complete. Once you have completed it, the “Force Is Strong With This One” achievement will unlock.

If you are playing Story Mode, complete the level after obtaining ‘True Jedi’ and this will unlock at the end at the results screen. If replaying a level in Free Play, as soon as you obtain ‘True Jedi’, you can save and quit the level and it will unlock.

Refer to "The New Jedi Will Rise".

  • Collect all Minikits in any level

Refer to "I Can Fly Anything".

  • Collect all Minikits in the game

    (2)

Note: The minikits are often hidden in the levels, and while you can obtain some in Story Mode, you will have to collect the majority of them in Free Play.

It is recommended that you complete all 18 story levels before attempting this since you will unlock every ability by playing them (you will have to purchase some characters, though, to have access to their abilities).

Having the ‘Collectible Detector’ Red Brick unlocked (for 500,000 studs) and turned on will help find the minikits easier.

Refer to THIS GUIDE for a text and visual minikits guide. Credit goes to HappyThumbsGaming.

  • Re-build a Multi-build object

This is the first achievement you will unlock in the game. It can't be missed. During the Prologue, ‘The Battle of Endor’, as soon as you land, you will engage in a fight with some Stormtroopers. After that there will be a glow object to build. Use the analog stick left or right and hold to build a trampoline to get to the next area. Next, smash it by pressing then rebuild it holding down again.

  • Complete a Blaster Battle

This is story related and cannot be missed. This will unlock after you've complete your first Blaster Battle in the Prologue.

Refer to "I'm Getting Pretty Good At This!"

  • Complete a Blaster Battle without dying

Note: Make sure you are Han Solo for this part for a chance to unlock "Quick on The Draw".

In the Prologue, ‘The Battle of Endor’, after you destroy the AT-ST with the two logs, there is a cutscene with another AT-ST. Walk forward and hold to post behind the barrier to get in position for a cinematic blaster battle fight. Hold to aim and press to shoot as many Stormtroopers as possible. Make sure you watch your health as you only get two hearts for the Blaster Battles, but take your time if need be as it regenerates your hearts.

This can be done throughout the main story but is easiest in the Prologue since this is one of the shortest Blaster Battles in the game. Complete this battle without dying and the achievement will unlock as well as "They're Shooting at Both Of Us".

If you defeated a Stormtrooper who was preparing to attack (a yellow exclamation point above its head), you will also unlock "Quick on The Draw" and if you miss hitting a target 10 times in the same battle, you can also unlock "Stormtrooper Syndrome".

  • Defeat 50 Stormtroopers

This should unlock during the Prologue if you are diligent. If it doesn’t, this will come naturally throughout the game as you play the first couple of levels in Story Mode.

  • Defeat 100 TIE Fighters

Defeating 100 TIE Fighters should come through natural gameplay while playing through the story. This should unlock during Chapter 6, ‘Battle of Takodana’.

If you are eager to unlock this, you can boost this achievement if needed during Free Play in Chapter 3, ‘Niima Outpost’ at the third checkpoint called ‘Jakku Graveyard Flight’. Simply shoot as many TIE Fighters you see in this chapter, rinse and repeat and the achievement should unlock.

  • Complete a Free Play level playing as Maz Kanata and Chewbacca

Note: This can only be unlocked after you complete The Force Awakens story since you can’t select any characters until then.

Maz Kanata is available after completing Chapter 6, ‘Battle of Takodana’, and Chewbacca is available after completing the Prologue. This can only be done during Free Play.

There is a real easy way of doing this. Start a level in Free Play; it does not matter which character you select. When the level starts, switch your characters to Maz Kanata and Chewbacca. Then press and ‘Exit Level’. Do NOT select ‘Save and Quit’ (you must select ‘Exit Level’ for this to work). Then the HUB is loading up, the achievement will unlock.

  • Play as Unkar Plutt on the Millennium Falcon

Note: This can only be unlocked after you complete The Force Awakens story since you can’t select any characters until then.

Unkar Plutt can be purchased for 150,000 studs after you've completed Chapter 3, ‘Niima Outpost’. Once you have purchased him, head to the Millennium Falcon HUB and switch your character by holding and the achievement should unlock.

  • In a blaster battle, have Han Solo defeat a character who is preparing an attack.

Your first opportunity to unlock this will be during the Prologue. During the Blaster Battle, you need to defeat a Stormtrooper who is readying fire and has a yellow exclamation point above its head. If you’re successful, the achievement will unlock.

You can also unlock “I’m Getting Pretty Good At This!” if you don’t die during the battle and “Stormtrooper Syndrome” if you miss your targets 10 times in a single Blaster Battle.

  • Use the wrong type of droid on an access panel

The first opportunity to unlock this is while you are playing through Story Mode. At the beginning of Chapter 7, ‘The Resistance’, while you are completing your first task, there are two terminals. The terminal for a protocol droid (C-3PO) is on the right hand side of the area. Instead of using C-3PO, switch to BB-8 and roll up to the terminal. Since you are using the wrong droid, there will not be a button prompt. Press anyway and the achievement will unlock.

There are two more opportunities in this chapter in Story Mode to unlock this achievement.

  • Defeat Finn using FN-2199

Note: This can only be unlocked after you complete The Force Awakens story since you can’t select any characters until then.

FN-2199 is unlocked after completing the Adventure Level ‘Trouble Over Taul’. Finn is unlocked after completing Chapter 3, ‘Niima Outpost’. Once you have both unlocked, when you are in any HUB, hold and select Finn as your character. Then switch characters and select FN-2199 as your other character. Now just keep pressing to defeat Finn and the achievement will unlock.

  • Have Kylo Ren and Han Solo in the same party

Note: This can only be unlocked after you complete The Force Awakens story since you can’t select any characters until then.

Kylo Ren is first available after completing Chapter 9, ‘Destroy Starkiller Base’. He costs 250,000 studs. Han Solo is unlocked after completing the Prologue. After you have purchased Kylo Ren, when you are in any HUB, hold and select Kylo Ren as your character. Then switch characters and select Han Solo as your other character and the achievement will unlock.

  • Defeat Kylo Ren playing as Darth Vader

Note: This can only be unlocked after you complete The Force Awakens story since you can’t select any characters until then.

Kylo Ren is first available after completing Chapter 9, ‘Destroy Starkiller Base’. He costs 250,000 studs. Darth Vader is unlocked after completing the Prologue. After you have purchased Kylo Ren, when you are in any HUB, hold and select Kylo Ren as your character. Then switch characters and select Darth Vader as your other character. Now just keep pressing to defeat Kylo Ren and the achievement will unlock.

  • As Kylo Ren, Force Freeze another character

Note: This can only be unlocked after you complete The Force Awakens story since you can’t select any characters until then.

Kylo Ren is first available after completing Chapter 9, ‘Destroy Starkiller Base’. He costs 250,000 studs. After you have purchased Kylo Ren, start any story level in Free Play, and when you encounter an enemy, you will see a red glow around it. Simply hold until the achievement unlocks.

  • Use a hat dispenser to put a Stormtrooper helmet on a small Minifigure

This can only be done in Free Play in Chapter 8, ‘Starkiller Sabotage’, at the third checkpoint called ‘Starkiller Shield Room’. You will need a Strength character, a small character and a character that uses a lightsaber.

You will get to a point where you have to get past a red shield that can only be opened by a Stormtrooper. Using the multi-build, make your way up to the top platform. After cutting through the wall with a lightsaber, you will be in a room with a hot tub and Stormtroopers. At the back of this room are blocks to smash up. When you rebuild them, it will be a hat dispenser. Using Wicket (or any other small character that walks, like Maz Kanata), activate the dispenser and make your way back down to the terminal to the left of the red shield. Activate the terminal and you will deactivate the red shield, unlocking this achievement.

  • Destroy all computer terminals in Starkiller Shield Room as Kylo Ren

Note: This can only be unlocked after you complete The Force Awakens story since you can’t select any characters until then.

Kylo Ren is first available after completing Chapter 9, ‘Destroy Starkiller Base’. He costs 250,000 studs. After you have purchased Kylo Ren, begin Free Play in Chapter 8, ‘Starkiller Sabotage’, at the third checkpoint called ‘Starkiller Shield Room’. The computer terminals in this area are black with red readouts. There are a total of 7 computer terminals; three before you deactivate the red shield, three before the Blaster Battle and one after. Following the video below will guide you to all 7 terminals.

Note that you have to use a terminal to bypass the red shield which can only be opened by a Stormtrooper or a character wearing a Stormtrooper helmet (refer to "Little Short For A Stormtrooper?").

  • Play as Han Solo (Classic) and Chewbacca on the Millennium Falcon

Note: This can only be unlocked after you complete The Force Awakens story since you can’t select any characters until then.

Chewbacca is unlocked after completing the Prologue. In order to obtain Han Solo (Classic), you first need to find his carbonite block in the Millennium Falcon HUB. The carbonite block is located in the top right area of the ship. In this area, you will find a large box to smash. Rebuild the pieces into a BB-8 interface terminal. Switch to BB-8, hop on the terminal and press to activate it. On the screen will be a mini-game where you have to outrun a space slug while avoiding rock formations. If you successfully complete the mini-game (takes around 45 seconds), you will be awarded the carbonite block.

The next step is to go to the D-Qar HUB. At the front of the building where the character customizer is located is a terminal to melt the carbonite blocks. Walk up to the terminal and press and a grid will appear on the screen. The Han Solo (Classic) carbonite block is the last one in the bottom row (in case you’ve collected other carbonite blocks). Move to select it and press . The carbonite block will melt, unlocking the character. Now return to the Millennium Falcon HUB, hold and select Han Solo (Classic) as your character. Then switch characters and select Chewbacca as your other character and the achievement will unlock.

Thanks to GosuNoob for the video:

Your first opportunity to unlock this will be during the Prologue. During the Blaster Battle, simply aim away from any targets and keep shooting. Once you’ve missed your targets 10 times, the achievement will unlock.

You can also unlock “I’m Getting Pretty Good At This!” if you don’t die during the battle and “Quick on the Draw” if, while playing as Han Solo, you defeat an enemy who is preparing to attack (has a yellow exclamation point above its head).
