Note on achievement difficulty: If you played the original Lost Planet and went for all of the achievements, you will with out a doubt remember playing on Extreme and trying to get all of those "target marks". It likely you lost a few controllers due to smashing them against the wall in the process. The campaign in this game is a breeze in comparison. Unfortunately, in order to get a few achievements in this game you will need to reach #1 on the leaderboards in any category. This wasn't to bad when the game first game out, but, as time goes by and people keep setting new records, this will get harder and harder.

Step 1: Planning
If you're looking for a quick or easy 1000 points, then this game isn't for you. This game proves to be extremely time consuming to obtain some of the achievements. You will have to do things like beat the game on each difficulty, complete 300 chapters, obtain all the good job awards, and the most time consuming of all... get all of the "Noms de Guerre" titles.

In order to obtain all of the "Noms", you will have to do things like get a crazy amount of weapon damage for all the weapons, damage with all the VS, and VS weapons, kill a certain amount of each enemy, etc... Its a long list. In order to obtain all the Noms you will have to finish Number 1 on one of the leaderboards. Now that the game has been out for awhile this will be the hardest to obtain. If you can not get to the top of a leaderboard, you will not be able to unlock three achievements in this game!

The achievements for difficulty do not stack, this means you will need to play through the entire game at least four times. The highest difficulty you can start out on is hard. If you have played Lost Planet before and feel comfortable with the game I would recommend starting on hard first, this will be a good warm up for EXTREME! This game is 4 person co-op, but ONLY play with others you know, and know they are good! Lives are split up between the team, so your only as good as your weakest member.

Also, I recommend concentrating on a lot of campaign first, as you build your character and unlock more weapons you become more of a threat online.

There are 50 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Complete Episode 1 Chapter 0-A.

    (3)

    See Complete Prologue B

  • Complete Episode 1 Chapter 0-B.

    (12)

At the beginning of the co-op campaign, there are two separate parts to play. You will automatically get put into "Prologue A" if you're the first or the third person to join the room. If you're the second or the fourth, you will play "Prologue B". Either way this achievement will pop after only a few minutes of playing. The Prologues are complete after defeating a giant akrid spider. If you want both achievements, just restart the campaign and switch places with a friend. It takes about 4-5 minutes to complete the prologue and difficulty does not matter.

  • Complete all the chapters in Episode 1.

    End Boss: Cordiant

If you played the co-op demo, then you have already fought this Giant. If not, don't worry, the first half of this battle is really easy. The first thing you should do is grab all the data posts in the area. I believe there are three. After that, your main focus should be blowing off its legs. I prefer a VS along with the large mountable shotgun to start things off. Just get close and bang away. Just about any of the weapons for the VS will work well here. Once you blow off a set of its legs, you will have the opportunity to jump inside its mouth and go inside of it. I like to just stay out and keep shooting away at the legs. If you do go inside of it, look towards its center and do as much damage to the beating heart as possible. You can inflict a lot of damage from inside. Unfortunately, sometimes when it spits you out you take a lot of damage, or even die.

Up until this point, as long as you have kept your distance you should be pretty good. About halfway through the fight, the boss will raise its front legs and do a huge stomp that release an electric charge. Beware, this hurts like hell! And if you're in a room with four people it can quickly drain some lives. Being inside a VS is a good way to avoid this, your VS will still take a little damage, but quickly repair and continue on. If you're not in a VS, the best method is to time a roll when he stomps. Also, if you're at the end and low on lives, I found that if someone is low on health he can run back to the start of the map and the stomp can not reach him there.

Another easy way to beat this part is to grab the three-man VS in the area before this fight. If you are with a couple guys grab your favorite VS weapons, and mount them on the VS. I recommend grabbing the VS shotgun and blasting away at its legs.

  • Complete all the chapters in Episode 2.

    End boss: Akrid X

At first go this fight may seem somewhat overwhelming, but with the right strategy you will have this flying, headless bug eating out of your hand. First off, be careful getting there, this stage is loaded with snipers that can easily kill you, depending on the difficulty level. Once the battle starts, have one guy go collect all of the VS rocket ammo he can. While he is doing this, you try to grab some Gatling gun ammo and run over to the VS and just use it as a turret on the ground (along the wall to the right of the train).

Basically, your friend concentrates on blasting him with rockets while you, sit on the turret and picks him apart. On the turret, one of your weapons has unlimited ammo, this should be firing at all times. It does weak damage, but never runs out! Use your Gatling gun a bit more sparingly. Pay close attention to when he flies on top of the building to the turret's right side. This is a good opportunity to do some good up close damage. Your turret will take all the damage, if it gets low just jump out and do some quick repairs.

Word of warning, don't be fooled by his first death, he comes back after you drain his initial health!

The video below was done on hard but the same strategy applies to Extreme.

  • Complete all the chapters in Episode 3.

    (2)

    End boss: Red Eye

This part can be very confusing if you don't know what to do. If you die here you will have to go all the way back to the beginning of the train. The blue health bar is the coolant system.

The coolant system is controlled by two switches in the lower inside part of the train. You will want to keep this from going low, as the train will start to catch on fire. There is also a T-ENG replenishing machine in this room and a turret which drains your T-ENG.

By now you should have noticed huge bullet casings everywhere. Go up on the outside of the train, towards the huge cannon. Behind the cannon you will see a bullet delivery system. Basically, what you need to do is grab a shell, go to the side, and load the shell. Then you need to energize the shell by hitting another switch on either side. You can have three shells loaded at one time. Once you energized them you have a limited amount of time to blast it at the Akrid. If you're running low on shells, you can use the crane near the back to load shells.

The goal here is to blow up all the round orange spots on the side of the boss. Once these are destroyed you will see a message that says "final shot". Just blast him in the face and call it a day!

With all that said, I recommend ignoring the turret all together. It's strong, but just way to slow. There are four turrets on both sides of the coolant room that can be used to do decent damage. Have one or two guys down there running the coolant and shooting the turrets. There is also a helicopter near the back, so have one guy in that for sure. Make sure the guy in the helicopter calls out which side Red Eye is coming up on as the guys in the coolant room can't really see.

The video below was done on hard but the same strategy applies to Extreme.

  • Complete all the chapters in Episode 4.

    End boss: Vital Fortress

After activating the switch on the bottom level, have one person get into the VS sub. This person should just repeatedly shoot missiles at the boss. The other people should head to the top, grabbing any heavy weapons they can find. Aim towards the boss's red laser targeting system, this will give you the most bang for your buck.

The only attack you have to worry about is the torpedoes attack. It will shoot multiple torpedoes at you. This attack is easy to see coming, so just find some cover and you will be fine.

The video below was done on hard but the same strategy applies to Extreme.

  • Complete all the chapters in Episode 5.

    End boss: Overland Battleship

At the start of the final part of this episode you will need to use the main laser cannon and the mounted turrets to destroy the other ship. Make sure you use the T-ENG chargers because the laser cannon using a lot of T-ENG. Have all the other players use the mounted turrets on both sides. Your main focus should be on destroying the other ships turrets, wings and laser cannon (in that order). When you see the other cannon open, have everyone concentrate their fire on it. If you do it fast enough it will close before ever getting in a shot.

You can also destroy the helicopters that come in and drop off enemies and enemy VS units. If you destroy them before they land on your ship you will save yourself from having to deal with them.

If you're playing with someone, you can have them shoot T-ENG into the laser cannon to charge it. If you listen closely you will hear the cannon make a sound when it reaches charge level 1, then it makes the sound again when its fully charged. Charging the laser is worth your time, it does a lot more damage fully charged.

Once the other ship is down you will be told you storm it. You need to board the ship and activate a post. Once this post is activated it will count down from 100. At the same time they will be sending guys over to your ship to activate a post on the lower level. If they activate your post another timer starts to count down. As long as you get their post timer down to zero first you will win. It may be worthwhile to keep a guy or two behind to guard your ship's post.

Once you have guarded the enemy post until it reaches zero, another timer starts. You have to make it back to your ship because once this timer reaches zero the enemy ship blows up. Anyone left on that ship will die.

*Note: If you stick around near the enemy post after the first timer goes off you can keep collecting boxes until the ship blows up. This is the best place to farm boxes.

  • Complete all the chapters in Episode 6.

    End boss: Over G

The final boss in the game. Once you reach it, you will need to unload everything you can find into its "orbs". From time to time he will shift and move and reveal his orbs. They are big round orange balls that look like the ones you had to damage in the previous areas leading up to this fight. After inflicting enough damage to one of these orbs, it will darken and then finally it will lower to the ground. When it is actually sitting on the ground you need to run up to it, once close enough you will be prompted to press a button. If done correctly you will insert a GPS locator. Do this three times.

  • Play through 100 chapters.

    See 300-Chapter Playback

  • Defeat 9999 enemies (Akrid, VS, or enemy soldiers).

    (5)

These count across all your playthroughs on any difficulty and it doesn't matter if you're in co-op or solo. You can check how many of these kills you have by going into My Page > Statistics > Campaign Statistics. Unfortunately, there is no "total" for these stats so you will have to count each section across all difficulties to get the total count.

  • Play through 300 chapters.

    (3)

There are 6 episodes in the game, with a total of 21 chapters (there are 42 areas in the game). If you played through the game 14 1/4 times you would complete 300 chapters.

I recommend playing through on hard, then extreme, and then normal. On your easy playthrough get the remaining good job awards. After that, if you're dedicated, start boosting with a friend. Boost points and credits on 5-2 and 5-3. This will give you a lot of chapters as you need to complete one each time.

  • Play through 200 chapters.

    See 300-Chapter Playback

  • Complete the game on Extreme.

    (9)

These achievement DO NOT stack. You will have to play the campaign four times to get them all. Extreme is unlocked after beating the game on Hard. If you have some Lost Planet Experience I recommend starting out on hard first. If you beat the campaign and your achievement didn't unlock it's likely because you didn't get the secret area in Chapter 1-2.

    (17)

These achievements will be a grind. You gain level by gaining points. You get points for playing online and the campaign. Points are based on how well you do, mainly how much you kill, but also other things like getting good job awards. Also, it appears that if you're playing in campaign and hosting a game, for some odd reason you will not receive as many points as the people playing with you.

    Boosting Points:
There are two chapters that are good for grinding out some career points and/or gaining credits from box drops. If you still need credits for the slot machine then play 5-3 for sure, as you get way more box drops than any part in the game. In my opinion, once you have the slot machine maxed out, I think playing 5-2 for points is easier. On 5-2 there are two sections, but you can put it on Extreme and easily pass it every time with two people. Once you get it down, 5-2 can be done in under ten minutes. On 5-3 Extreme sometimes it gets hairy trying to board the other ship and get the timer, it's much harder to do this every time without dying, especially with only one or two people.

As long as the NON HOST player kills the boss or ship (depending on which chapter you select) and the difficulty is on Extreme, then both of these chapters will net close to 70,000 points.

The difficulty does NOT matter if you are playing for the credits. When you're trying to gain career points to level up your characters difficulty DOES matter. The higher the difficulty the more points you will earn. Boosting for career points with more than two people is a waste of time, seeing how only one person will be getting most of the points each time. Boost with as many people as possible if you're playing 5-3 for the boxes. Having AI on doesn't make a difference as far as points earned. I suggest keeping them on as they do very little damage to anything that matters and act as good distractions for the enemies.

    Boosting 5-3

    Before you start
    - Host equips T-ENG Supply ability (generates T-ENG quicker)
    - Player 2 equips Superstar ability (double points earned)

    Phase 1
    - The person who is NOT hosting gets on the laser cannon
    - The host should shoot the laser cannon anywhere with T-ENG while it is in fire mode, keep doing this until the cannon charges to level 2 (listen closely for 2 unique sounds, indicating the cannon has charged a level).
    - The host keeps charging the cannon so every shot Player 2 takes is fully charged
    - Player 2 should take out the cannon and four wings of the ship. It's also a good idea to destroy the Offsprey that will try to fly onto your ship, as well as the turrets on the enemies ship (at least the ones on the side you will board it from).

    Phase 2
    - With the enemy ship's defenses down, you need to board it and activate a datapost. While you're doing this they will send enemies to board your ship and activate a post. Whoever gets their timer down from 100 first wins. If the enemy gets their timer down first you will fail the mission losing all points earned.

    - I think it is easier to have one guy stay on defense and send the other guy over to clear out the enemy ship and activate the post. Once the enemy post has been activated the guy playing defense should go over and help defend the enemy post. As long as you start the timer first and don't let the enemies stop it, you will win.

    - Once the timer final runs out, stay in that room and collect boxes if you need them, they will continually respawn. If you have enough lives to spare both guys can stay in that room and collect boxes until the timer reaches zero and the enemy ship blows up. If you don't have enough lives you will have to leave the enemy ship with about 15-20 seconds left on the timer, enough time to jump back on your ship before the enemy ship goes BOOM. If you die and run out of lives at this point, all boxes and points earned will be lost and you will have to start over.

    Boosting 5-2

    Before you start
    - Host should equip VS Takedown ability and T-ENG supply
    - Player 2 should equip Superstar ability

    Phase 1
    - Defend the ship from enemies coming to activate switches on the hangar door that is located down below.

    - Have the host, with VS takedown jump on the turret located in the front of the ship and shoot down all the incoming Offspreys. Player 2 can also help. Both of you together should be able to kill most of the choppers before they get close or drop off guys.

    - There will be a point when four enemy soldiers jump onto your ship from the front. At this point jump down near the hangar door, by the switches you are defending. You will have one good push from the enemies here. Do not let them get close to the switches. On Extreme they activate them quickly! Once the push is over jump back up and take out the last couple Offsprey.

    Phase 2
    - Player 2 goes straight for the laser cannon while the host stands in T-ENG generators and builds up T-ENG. Charge the laser cannon up to level 2, same way as in Chapter 5-3.

    * Note - while the hosts waits for the boss to come he can grab the Gatling gun and kill about 50 Akrid flying around, a nice little boost towards your Akrid kills.

    - Player 2 should take out all four legs first with fully charged laser shots. If you aim for the back legs, sometimes you can get two legs at once. With the legs done and usually one more shot on the boss, he will attach itself to the ship. Make sure your laser is fully charged and blast him right in the eyes. This shot will kill him taking about half of his health away.

  • Defeat 1000 enemy soldiers.

These count across all your playthroughs on any difficulty and it doesn't matter if you're in co-op or solo. You can check how many of these kills you have by going into My Page > Statistics > Campaign Statistics. They are listed under "Enemies Defeated (Soldiers). Unfortunately, there is no "total" for these stats, you will have to count each section across all difficulties to get a count. This should come fairly easy over time, I would worry too much about it. I got this achievement before the end of my first playthrough.

  • Defeat 3000 S- and M-sized Akrid.

    (2)

You need to kill 3000 small or medium sized Akrid. These count across all your playthroughs on any difficulty and it doesn't matter if you're in co-op or solo. You can check how many of these kills you have by going into My Page > Statistics > Campaign Statistics. They are listed under "Enemies Defeated (S-size Akrid)" and "Enemies Defeated (M-size Akrid)". Unfortunately, there is no "total" for these stats, you will have to count each section across all difficulties to get a count. If you can find a group of small ones flying together make sure to shoot them, as that seems to be a good way to rack up some S-size kills.

  • Destroy 100 enemy VSs.

    (2)

These count across all your playthroughs on any difficulty and it doesn't matter if you are in co-op or solo. You can check how many of these kills you have by going into My Page > Statistics > Campaign Statistics. They are listed under "Enemies Defeated (VSs). Unfortunately, there is no "total" for these stats, you will have to count each section across all difficulties to get a count. This will come pretty quickly. You can equip the "VS Takedown ability" which will help you kill them quicker. Also, blowing up enemy turrets count towards this. I got this achievement before the end of my first playthrough.

  • Play any combination of chapters 39 times on Easy.

    (1)

Just play 39 chapters, and make sure you play them on easy. After completing your easy run through you will still need 18 more chapters on easy.

  • Defeat 30 bosses.

    (4)

These count across all your playthroughs on any difficulty and it doesn't matter if you're in co-op or solo. You can check how many of these kills you have by going into My Page > Statistics > Campaign Statistics. They are listed under "Enemies Defeated (Bosses)". Unfortunately, there is no "total" for these stats, you will have to count each section across all difficulties to get a count.

The end of every episode has a boss, as well as the end of a few chapters. You can also kill the same boss over and over and each death will count as a boss kill. In order for this to count for you, you need to be the one who gives the final death blow. After the chapter ends, the player who gets the boss kill will have an image of the boss by their score.

  • Accumulate a combined total of more than 99999 units of thermal energy.

    (3)

This counts across all your playthroughs on any difficulty and it doesn't matter if you're in co-op or solo. You can check how much you have accumulated by going into My Page > Statistics > Campaign Statistics. This is listed under "T-ENG Earned". You should get this really quickly. I got it before the end of the second episode. Just collect all of the "orange" stuff that spills out from killing enemies and blowing up some items.

  • Complete 93 areas while online without the help of other players.

Every chapter is made up of several (usually 3-4) areas. I believe for these you need to go into campaign, make sure the "Connection Type" says "Xbox Live" and play alone. Make sure to set three private slots so random people don't drop in. You can play with AI - just no human players. You can play any combination of chapters you like in any order. If you play through the game two times by yourself you will need nine more areas.

  • Unlock all the Abilities.

    See A Collector's Collector

  • Unlock all regular weapons and grenades.

  • Celebrate your six-month anniversary with LOST PLANET 2.

If you don't feel like waiting six months for this achievement, you can do the following:

    - Unplug your xbox from Xbox Live (disconnect wire or disable wireless)
    - From the dashboard go to... Myxbox > System Settings > Console Settings > Clock > Date and Time
    - Adjust your clock to six months from now, or when you bought the game, doesn't matter
    - Then just load up the game (still offline), load profile, achievement will pop after profile loads.

  • Unlock all items (weapons, Abilities, Noms de Guerre).

    (8)

Collectibles in this game are earned by spending points in the slot machine, which can be found under "My Page > Customization". The slot machine costs 2,000 credits at first. Once you get all of the emotes it will cost 10,000 credits. You can earn points by doing things like playing the campaign, training, and collecting the "cubes" that bosses and random guys drop when you kill them. Sometimes the "cubes" will give you more than just points, example, it may give you a Noms de Guerre. So make sure to collect these fast, as they will disappear after a few seconds.

"Noms de Guerre" is a french expression that roughly means war name. These are the different titles that you can apply to your name.

If you are looking for a specific weapon and don't want to wait for the slot machine to randomly give it to you, you can save up a lot of points. Go into the slot machine, and use up all of your points. If you don't get what you're looking for just exit to your dashboard. The more points you have saved the more spins you will get and the more chances of getting what you want.

    Cadet
    Recruit
    Petty Officer
    Chief Petty Officer
    Warrant Officer
    Midshipman
    Junior Ensign
    Ensign
    Helmsman

  • Complete 386 areas with one or more other players.

Every chapter is made up of several (usually 3-4) areas. For these just play co-op campaign with at least one other person. Play through hard and extreme with a friend. After that, just boost 5-2 and 5-3 with a friend. You will most likely need to do this for points and credits anyway.

  • Merge two VS units.

Here is an easy way to get this.

  • Fight for a number of different factions in Faction Match.

    (4)

Faction matches are held every week, they end on Sundays around 7pm EST. In order to play in faction matches you will need to join 1 of the 5 different factions. Once you have made your choice you can't change factions until next week.
