Introduction:
Welcome to Mortal Kombat X, the latest, and arguably the greatest entrant in this most venerable of fighting franchises. MK X is also the first of the series to hit the newest generation of consoles, and it certainly looks the part, boasting a deep roster of 24 fighters, 8 of which are completely new to the series, multiple game modes, an all new faction system, 3 kombat variations for each character and the return of the ever popular fataliites/brutalities. All of this combines into the richest, most mechanically deep MK game I have played in a long time, it's a metric s**t ton of fun too!

Achievement's wise it's the typical list we have come to expect from NetherRealm Studios, only this time it is slightly more weighted to the grind than to straight up skill. Obtaining the full 1000 will have you playing virtually every mode on offer, with the majority of your time being spent with the online portion of the game.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
There is by no means a hard and fast rule when it comes to going for the achievements in MK X, in the interest of keeping things as streamlined as possible I suggesting breaking down the achievements into five steps.

NOTE: During all these steps have this checklist (PDF, Numbers, Excel) handy. There will be certain points, especially during the campaign, where you will be fulfilling some of the requirements for the 'Target' achievements we will be working on later. Keeping track of everything from the start will save you time down the road.

Step One: Misc/Random
First up will be the quick miscellaneous/random achievements that are obtained throughout the various single player modes or in versus using a second controller. You can also use the time during this step to play around with the various characters and variants to find something that you like. By the end of this step you will have unlocked the following achievements:

  • "Tower Kompetitor"
  • "Pledge Yourself"
  • "Time Out"
  • "Statistical Advantage"
  • "Moving Up"
  • "Terrifying Encounter"
  • "Hit the Dojo"
  • "That's How You Do It"
  • "FINISH HIM"
  • "Brutal End"
  • "Only a Real Master"
  • "It's a Gusher"
  • "Blanche Advantage"
  • "Hara Kiri"
  • "Back It Up"
  • "Real Icon"
  • "So Bored"
  • "Jumping Bean"
  • "Trolling"
  • "All the Pieces"
  • "Luck be a Lady"
  • "Disco"
  • "Almighty"
  • "Not Dead Yet"

Step Two: Story
Although there are only two achievements related to the story mode once you complete it you will unlock Shinnock as a fighter, because you will need to use him in the next step for the 'Target' achievements it's best to get the story out of the way. The story is fairly short, coming in at about three hours, maybe even less if you skip all the cut scenes. After completing the story you will have unlocked the following achievements:

  • "A New Beginning"
  • "There is a Ruler"

NOTE: Although not directly achievement related, you will unlock an Icon/Border/Background set for each of the story QTE's you complete perfectly, including one for completing all story QTE's perfectly. Some of these sets may have rewards that will make the final XP grinds easier so it's worth taking your time with them to see what you can unlock.

Step Three: Target Achievement
During this step we will be getting all the achievements that task you with completing something xx amount of times or performing certain actions with all fighters. This is where your checklist will be useful and keeping track of some of the things you have already completed will save you time. At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following achievements:

  • "Tower Warrior"
  • "Tower Master"
  • "Tower God"
  • "Faction Champion"
  • "Knockout"
  • "Bloody Good Time"
  • "Straight Power"
  • "Dark Future"
  • "Need a Doctor"
  • "Master"
  • "Well Rounded"
  • "Not Dead Yet"

Step Four: Online
Now it's time to jump online and grab our last big batch of achievements. The majority of these online achievements can be boosted, I have marked these achievements with (B), for more information on the boosting methods please check the individual achievement descriptions. At the end of this step you should have unlocked the following achievements:

  • "Challenge Accepted"
  • "BUDDY!!!"
  • "Inner Strength"
  • "Giving Respect"
  • "Return Kustomer" (B)
  • "Royalty" (B)
  • "Good to be King" (B)
  • "Respected Fighter" (B)
  • "I'm Number 1" (B)
  • "Juggernaut" (B)
  • "A Kontender" (B)
  • "Bill of Goods" (B)
  • "Unstoppable" (B)
  • "Dropping Fools"

The following four achievements are not found under the Online area of the main menu, you will find them under the Faction area, despite this you still require an internet connection to make the modes available so they are listed under this step. The four Invasion related achievements are:

  • "Stay Back"
  • "DIE WILL YOU"
  • "INVASION"
  • "Can't Stop This"

Step Five: Grindin' the Mop-Up:
By this point we should only have four, maybe five, achievements left to obtain. The first three we will work on are the only three achievements that will require any sort of grinding, these achievements are:

  • "No Loyalty"
  • "Elder God"
  • "The Kollector"

If you were lucky you may have already unlocked "The Kollector" while you were completing your 50 living towers earlier as it is the best way of unlocking the Kustom Modifiers. Once those three are out of the way you should be all done, although it is possible that you will still have one achievement left to unlock:

  • "Keep it Secret"

As of right now there is no known way to unlock this achievement. As soon as further information is made available the guide will be updated.

Conclusion:
Mortal Kombat X is a fantastic game, it looks great, it plays extremely well, it has good depth and variation, but most of all it's really a blast to play. The achievements are comfortably obtainable with only a minimum amount of grinding required and it should be a mostly smooth ride to your 1000.

There are 73 achievements with a total of 1500 points

  • Complete a single Tower

There are a variety of different towers available across the game modes, the shortest towers are the Living Towers, they have only five opponents and can be completed in around 15-20 minutes. Whichever tower you choose the achievement will unlock once it has been completed. For more information on various towers please see the "Tower Warrior" achievement.

  • Complete a Tower with every character

There are five varieties of towers. These are:

    • Traditional Towers
    • Tower Challenges
    • Living Towers
    • Tower Battles
    • Invasion Towers

You will need to complete any of these tower's with every available fighter, including Shinnok. I recommend unlocking this achievement using the hourly Living Towers. These Living Towers only have five opponents each and using them will have the added benefit of working towards your "Tower God" and "The Kollector" achievements.

As you play through each tower you should also work towards the "Need a Doctor", "Bloody Good Time", "Well Rounded" and "Master" achievements by performing each fighters x-ray move, at least one Fatality and winning a fight with each character variation. To change your character variation you need to hit and select Switch Character, this will take you back to the fighter select screen but will keep your tower progress. After the first fight using variation 1, switch to variation 2 for the second fight then switch to variation 3 for the third fight and complete the tower.

Remember to keep track of your progress using the checklist (PDF, Numbers, Excel).

Alternatively, if you just want to get this out of the way, you an load up the Survival Tower then purposely lose the first fight. This will count as a tower completed so just load up the next fighter, rinse and repeat until the achievement is unlocked.

  • Complete 10 Living Towers

This achievement will unlock while you go for "Tower Warrior" if you use the Living Towers.

  • Complete 50 Living Towers

After you are done with "Tower Warrior", you will need to complete 26 more Living Towers to unlock this achievement. I recommend sticking with the hourly towers and only completing each hourly tower once, then wait for it to refresh and repeat. This will obviously mean it takes you around three times longer to complete this achievement but it will give you more progress towards "The Kollector" and reduce the amount of time you will spend grinding it out at the end.

  • Win a single Tower Challenge

To unlock this achievement you first need to receive a tower challenge from someone on your friends list. See "BUDDY!!!" for more information on how the challenges are sent. Once you have a challenge you need to complete the tower and beat your friends score to unlock the achievement.

A few tips to achieve a higher score are to end each fight with a Brutality rather than a Fatality as they are worth more points, so attempt the tower using a character with an easy Brutality or one you know you can easily pull off. Shinnok, Takeda and Kung Lao all have simple Brutalities. Also try to complete any Dragon Challenges that pop up.

If you are still struggling with this you can always ask your friend to send you a challenge with a low ball score that can be easily beaten. If you don't have any friends who own the game you can find people to exchange this achievement with HERE.

  • Send a Tower Challenge to a friend

To send a tower challenge to a friend you first need to complete a Tower Challenge yourself. The Tower Challenges are found under the one player menu, Towers > Tower Challenges > New Tower Challenge. Tower Challenges are randomly generated, five fight towers, you can retry as many times as you need to and once the tower is completed you will see an option to Challenge Friends. Select any friend from your list, it doesn't matter if they have played the game or not, and send them the challenge. The achievement will unlock as soon as the challenge is sent.

  • Reach level 5 in any faction

When you first begin the game you will be asked to choose one of five factions to ally yourself with. Everything you do in game will contribute to your Faction XP (FXP), for more details on earning FXP see "No Loyalty". To reach level 5, you only need 2500 FXP. This should unlock easily while you play through the miscellaneous achievements in Step One of the roadmap.

  • Reach level 50 in any faction

See "No Loyalty" for more information on earning FXP.

  • Reach level 50 in all factions

There are a total of five factions in MK X, these are:

    • Lin Kuei
    • Black Dragon
    • Brotherhood of Shadow
    • Special Forces
    • White Lotus

To reach level 50 in your chosen faction, you need a total of 128,598 FXP, to unlock the achievement. You need to level up all five factions to level 50. This may seem like a daunting task but luckily there is a fairly quick way to grind this out if you have a second controller; it will just need a little preparation first. Before you even attempt this, you will need to do three things. The first is to complete story mode so you can unlock Shinnok as a playable fighter. Second whilst playing story mode you will want to complete the QTE related to Scorpion's chapter perfectly to unlock the 'Hanzo' Icon. Finally you will need to grab the 'Danger' modifier from the Krypt, which is located in the Frozen Graveyard area at (2,10). Now you have all that done you need to set up your Kombat Kard to maximize the FXP you receive per match. An example of a good set up is shown below:

    • Background: Hooligan - +75 FXP per match win (unlocked at level 30 with the Black Dragon faction)
    • Icon: Hanzo - +75 FXP per Brutality (unlocked after perfecting the Scorpion QTE during the story mode)
    • Border: Shinnok III - +75 FXP (unlocked after 25 wins with Shinnok's Immortal variation)

If you haven't unlocked the Shinnok border yet don't worry; you will have it unlocked in less than 10 minutes using the setup shown below:

    • Select Two Player > Kustom Match from the menu.
    • Select Shinnok for your fighter and whoever you want for the second controller.
    • Select the 'Danger Match' modifier for both players, this will start both fighters at 1% health, and start the match.
    • As soon as the fight begins immediately use Shinnok's Brutality, (HOLD) , to end the match.

Using the Kombat Kard setup shown you will be receiving 575 FXP per match. Each match takes around 20 seconds with loading times, so if you are diligent you can earn 80-100k FXP per hour. The background shown is unlocked at faction level 30 but you will unlock higher reward backgrounds as you level up your faction; +150 FXP at level 40 and +200 FXP at level 45 for example, making it even quicker the higher you level your faction. Before you reach level 30 with your faction, you can use the highest level faction background you have unlocked and just upgrade them every time you unlock the next tier. If you don't have a second controller, this will take considerably longer to unlock. The best method is still to customize your Kombat Kard to maximize FXP gain, but rather than Kustom Matches, you would play VS matches against the CPU on Very Easy difficulty (1 round) and still try to end the match with Shinnok's brutality. Another option is to start a Test Your Luck match on Very Easy with one modifier and them keep restarting the match until you have the 'Danger' modifier active then grind it out the same way as you would if you had two controllers.

NOTE: If you switch factions before reaching level 50, all your progress with the previous faction is lost.

  • Become a member of every faction

You can unlock this right at the beginning of the game before you start to level up any factions. After choosing your initial faction, you will need to go to the Faction section of the main menu, scroll down to Change Faction and choose another faction to join. Repeat this for the remaining three factions to unlock the achievement.

  • Win a match by time out

Set up a VS match using either a second controller or VS the CPU, Very Easy, 1 round, 30 second timer. Put a little hurt on your opponent then let the time run down to win the match and unlock the achievement. If you are playing against the CPU remember to keep your eye on who has more health just in case they catch you a couple of times.

  • Find a secret fight in the Living Towers

This achievement can now be unlocked, as it seems that the solution for this achievement will be changing from week to week please see the thread below for up to date confirmed solutions.

    Keep It Secret Solutions Thread

  • View Kombat Kard

To view your Kombat Kard, you can go to the Extras section of the main menu and choose Offline Kombat History. The achievement will unlock as soon as you view your stats.

  • Reach personal level 10 in XP

Personal Level XP (PLXP) is different from the FXP we have been earning to level up the factions. Everything you do in the game will earn you PLXP. It takes 22,000 PLXP to reach level 10. This should unlock through natural progression while you work on the other achievements.

For more information on PLXP and a boosting method please see "Elder God".

  • Reach personal level 65 in XP

Level 65 is not the maximum PL you can achieve but it seems NRS are being nice to us this time around so it's the highest we need to get to for an achievement. PLXP is different from the FXP we have been earning and it takes significantly more to max out than the Factions do, around 1.9 million PLXP will be needed to reach level 65 alone. Once you have have maxed out all your factions, we will be using the same method we used for the "No Loyalty" achievement to grind our the last of the PLXP needed for this achievement. Only this time we will be customizing out Kombat Kard to maximize our PLXP instead of the FXP. An example of a good Combat Kard setup is shown below.

    • Background: Dreadful Ways - +200 XP per win with Shinnok (Unlocked for 100 wins with Shinnok)
    • Icon: MK I - +100 XP per win (unlocked for completing the MK I Living Tower)
    • Border: Crime Lord - + 250 XP per win (unlocked at faction level 50, in this case Black Dragon)

We will be using the same boosting set up as "No Loyalty" shown again below:

    • Select Two Player > Kustom Match from the menu.
    • Select Shinnok for your fighter and whoever you want for the second controller.
    • Select the 'Danger' modifier for both players, this will start both fighters at 1% health, and start the match.
    • As soon as the fight begins immediately use Shinnok's Brutality, (HOLD) , to end the match.

Using the Kombat Kard example shown above you will be earning 1404 PLXP per win, each match takes around 20 seconds with loading times, so if you are diligent you can earn 168-252k FXP per hour. At that rate, going from PLXP level 1-65 will take around 7-11 hours. If you tackle this after you have unlocked "No Loyalty", you should already be quite high up with your PLXP so it will take significantly less time to finish off. If you don't have a second controller, this will take considerably longer to unlock. The best method is still to customize your Kombat Kard to maximize PLXP gain but rather than Kustom Matches you would play VS matches against the CPU on Very Easy difficulty (1 round) and still try to end the match with Shinnok's brutality. Another option is to start a Test Your Luck match on Very Easy with one modifier and them keep restarting the match until you have the 'Danger' modifier active then grind it out the same way as you would if you had two controllers.

  • Complete 50% of Story Mode

This will unlock once you have completed Chapter 7: 'Takeda Takahashi'. Please see "There is a Ruler" for more info on Story Mode.

  • Complete 100% of Story Mode

Story mode is accessed from the One Player section of the main menu. There are 12 chapters in total to play through and it should take around 3-4 hours to play through them all. Skipping all of the cut scenes you will shave some time off that estimate as well. This achievement will unlock once you have completed Chapter 12: 'Cassie Cage'. To make this even easier, you can set the difficulty to Very Easy from the Gameplay Options menu.

NOTE: While it's not directly related to the achievements, I recommend trying to perfect each QTE as you play through the story to unlock various Kombat Kard sets.

  • Win 1 complete online match

Complete your first online match in any mode to unlock the achievement. For more information on the various online modes please see "Unstoppable".

  • Play 100 complete online matches

This achievement will unlock after completing 100 online matches in any mode. For more information on the various online modes please see "Unstoppable".

  • Win 5 complete Regular King of the hill matches

King of the Hill is a 'winner stays on' online game mode. To unlock this achievement, you need to win five KotH matches. They don't have to be in a row or even in the same room. As soon as you have won your fifth match the achievement will unlock.

Alternatively, this achievement can be boosted with two players, from the Online menu choose Rooms. In the next screen you can press to create your own room, restrict the room to two players, change the matchmaking to KoTH and tell your boosting partner to join you. From here you just need to trade off five wins each to both unlock the achievement. If you do not have any friends who own the game you can find people to play with HERE.

NOTE: This achievement can not be unlocked in Private matches, you must create your room in the way shown above for this to work.

  • Win 1 complete Regular King of the hill match

Please see "Royalty" for more information.

  • Give Respect points in a King of the hill match

To give respect points, you must be in a KotH lobby with at least three players and you have to be a spectator. At the end of the current match, you will be presented with a selection wheel giving you the option to reward a number of respect points from 0-10 to the winner. As soon as you reward your first points the achievement will unlock.

You will automatically unlock this while going for "Respected Fighter" if you choose to use the boosting method outlined in that achievement description.

  • Earn 1,000 Respect points

At the end of every KotH match you win, the other players in the room, as long as there are three or more, will be given the option to award you respect points for your performance. The total is cumulative and will amass throughout your online career as you win more and more KotH matches. Once you reach 1000 points the achievement will unlock.

Alternatively this achievement can be boosted with a minimum of three players. Once you have found your boosting partners, you again need go to the Rooms option of the Online menu. From the next screen, press to create your own room. Restrict the player size to however many is in your boosting group and have your partners join you. Now you just need to all alternate wins whilst the spectators award you 10 respect points per win. The larger your group the longer you will have to wait between your fights, taking this into account it may be optimal to boost this using just three players, another benefit to this is that you will unlock both "Return Kustomer" and "Unstoppable" along the way. If you do not have any friends who own the game you can find people to play with HERE.

  • Confront a beast within the Krypt

While you explore the Krypt you will be randomly attacked by monsters. The easiest way to force an encounter is to head to the second area from the start of the Krypt, walk forward a few steps and turn to your right. You should see cobwebs covering a cave. Head towards this and you will be attacked by a wolf. You don't even need to win the QTE, as soon as the wolf attacks the achievement will unlock.

  • Win 1 Tower Battle

Please see "Juggernaut" for more information.

  • Win 5 Tower Battles

Tower Battles are an online mode where you compete against other players to achieve the highest score on a random tower. There is a 10 minute time limit and the other players complete their tower independently. Once the time limit is up, all the scores will be collated and each player will be given a rank. To unlock this achievement you must be the highest scoring player in your group. Here are some tips to try and hit the high score:

    • Try to end your fights with a Brutality as they award more points than a Fatality.
    • Try to finish your fights as fast as you can and avoid having to use continues.
    • Try to complete the dragon challenges that pop up for extra points.

This achievement can also be boosted with one other player in private matches. Set up a private match from Tower Battle in the Online area of the main menu. In a private match you will first have to fight your boosting partner before progressing onto the AI opponents. The fastest way for both of you to get the achievement is to trade off wins in the first fight then the winner can progress on and beat the next one or two opponents while the loser idles through the 10 minute limit then vice versa. Using this method it should take a little under two hours for you both to unlock the achievement. If you do not have any friends who own the game you can find people to play with HERE.

  • Complete 1 Tower Battle

Please see "Juggernaut" for more information.

  • Win 1 complete match in Survivor King of the Hill

Survivor KotH is a variant game mode. In this mode, the matches only have one round and the King must continue on with the same health they ended the last fight with. It is actually a little easier to pick up a win in this mode because by the time your fight comes around the King could have very little health left.

This can also be boosted with one other player in a Private match. If you do not have any friends who own the game you can find people to play with HERE.

  • Reach a 10 complete game win streak in Ranked 1v1 matches

Ranked matches are found under the 1v1 area of the Online menu. To unlock this achievement you must win 10 ranked fights in a row by whatever means you can. To do this legitimately will require some amount of skill and a lot of practice with your preferred fighter.

However, as of right now there is an exploit to make obtaining this achievement a little easier. This exploit requires you to dashboard then completely quit out of the game when your opponent gets to the 'Finish Him' screen, so essentially you have already lost, doing this will preserve your win streak and the loss will not be attributed to you. Please note though that using this method will also not credit your opponent with a win on their streak.

NOTE: If you do choose to employ this exploit you will still have to win 10 matches legitimately, all it does is preserve your streak.

  • Enter Practice mode

You can enter practice mode from the One Player section of the Main Menu, simply select Training > Practice, choose your fighter and once practice loads up the achievement will unlock.

  • Play 200 complete online matches

This achievement only requires you to complete 200 matches in any mode. If you chose to boost "Respected Fighter", you will already have unlocked this achievement. There are a variety of online modes that will count towards this achievement, they are:

    • Versus
    • Team Battle
    • King of the Hill
    • Tower Battles (even though these are against the AI for the most part they still count as online matches)

Simply play or boost 200 matches to unlock the achievement. If you do not have any friends who own the game you can find people to play with HERE.

  • Complete Tutorial

The tutorial can be found under the One Player area of the Main Menu, select Training > Tutorial. The tutorial consists of four sections:

    • Basics
    • Kombos
    • Special Moves
    • Advanced

You don't have to complete all the sections to unlock the achievement. You can skip them all using , however you go about it the achievement will unlock once the tutorial is finished.

  • Perform a 10 hit combo with every character

    (11)

I recommend completing the majority of this achievement in the Practice mode. In this mode, your specials bar is permanently filled for easy x-rays. The only exception to this is Sonya Blade; her x-ray move is a counter so you will need to do her combo in either VS mode against the CPU or with a second controller. Check the video below for a guide on how to hit a 10 hit combo with all characters.

Below is a video showing alternative combos for both Jax and Sub-Zero.

    Jax (Pumped Up) - , + (Mash)
    Sub-Zero (Cryomancer) - ,+

  • Perform 1 Fatality in a match

    (2)

This will come naturally as your complete other achievements, for more information on fatalities see "Bloody Good Time".

  • Perform a Fatality in a match with every character

    (5)

To save time I recommend tackling this achievement at the same time as "Tower Warrior". You will have five chances to pull off a fatality with each character as you work through their tower. Below is a list of what I consider to be the easiest fatality for each fighter. I tend to prefer close fatalities where I can because it make's positioning much easier. All commands assume you are in the default position facing right.

    Kung Lao - (Close)
    Jax - (Close)
    Sonya Blade - (Close)
    Kenshi - (Far)
    Kitana - (Mid)
    Scorpion - (Mid)
    Sub-Zero - (Close)
    Mileena - (Close)
    Takeda - (Mid)
    Cassie Cage - (Close)
    Jacqui Briggs - (Close)
    Kung Jin - (Close)
    Shinnok - (Mid)
    Kano - (Close)
    Johnny Cage - (Close)
    Erron Black - (Far)
    Liu Kang - (Close)
    Ermac - (Mid)
    Kotal Kahn - (Close)

  • Perform 100 Fatalities in matches

You will probably be doing a lot of fatalities naturally as you play through the other achievements. If by the time you have unlocked "Bloody Good Time" you are still short for this achievement you can grind it out in VS against a second controller or against the CPU on Very Easy. Pick a quick and easy fatality like Johnny Cage's and go to town, as soon as you perform your 100th fatality the achievement will unlock.

  • Perform 1 Brutality

    (2)

See "Dark Future" for more information.

  • Perform 50 Brutalities

    (3)

A brutality is a alternate finishing move to a fatality, the main difference being that they are performed BEFORE the match ends rather than after your opponent has been defeated. They also generally have specific requirements that need to be performed during the round and also while you input the commands. To see what is required to pull off a fighter's brutality, you can check under the Finishing Moves section of the Moves List. If you have two controllers there is a very easy way to grind these out, start a match using the following settings:

    • Select Two Player -> Kustom Match from the menu.

Using this method is should only take around 30-40 minutes to grind this one out. As soon as your have performed your final brutality the achievement will unlock. If you don't have a second controller you can still use this method it will just take a little luck to set it up. Go to One Player > Test Your Luck and set up a match on Very Easy with one modifier. Now, the modifiers here are selected randomly but you can keep restarting the match until you get the 'Danger' modifier. Use the same method shown above but at the end of the match choose Rematch Same Modifiers and repeat until the achievement is unlocked.

  • Perform every character's X-Ray

    (5)

X-Ray moves are especially brutal attacks that require a full special meter to pull off. To save time I recommend tackling this achievement at the same time as "Tower Warrior". While you play through the towers with each fighter, hit at least one x-ray move by pressing + at the same time when you have a full three bars of your special meter. Once you have hit your final x-ray move the achievement will unlock. Remember to keep track of your progress using the checklist (PDF, Numbers, Excel).

Alternatively you can grind this out in Practice Mode, the exception once again being Sonya Blade.

NOTE: Sonya Blade's x-ray move is a counter so you will need your opponent to actively be attacking you to trigger it. Also, Takeda's x-ray move needs to be triggered in the air.

  • Master

    25

Win a single complete match with every character variation

    (11)

This achievement will unlock naturally as your work on your "Tower Warrior" achievement.

  • Beat an opponent while they still have 90% health and you have 10% or less health remaining

    (3)

This achievement is easiest done using a second controller. Simply start up a VS match with 1 round, have the second controller attack until you almost dead then beat them to unlock the achievement. Alternately, if you do not have a second controller and are struggling with this you can unlock it with a friend online in a private match.

  • Play every character variation

To save time, I recommend tackling this achievement at the same time as "Tower Warrior". Each fighter has three variations to choose from. To unlock this achievement, while you play through the towers, you will need to choose your first variation then win the first fight using it. At the start of the second fight, you can press and scroll down to 'Change Fighter'. This will take you back to the fighter select screen without losing your progress. Now choose your second variation and proceed to win the second fight. Do the same at the start of the third fight then complete the tower using this third variation. Working on it like this the achievement will unlock when you are halfway through your final fighters tower.

Alternatively, if you have a second controller, you can use the same method we used for "Dark Future", only instead of using Shinnok's brutality, each time you would cycle through all the fighters and their variations ending the match with one hit to your opponent and moving on. Either way remember to keep track of your progress using the checklist (PDF, Numbers, Excel).

  • Spill 1,000 pints of blood

This will come naturally through regular play. It will only take 15 or so matches for this achievement to unlock.

  • Hit someone with the old lady Level Interaction

    (5)

This achievement is unlocked on the Outworld Market stage. You can unlock this in any mode but it is easier to just do it in practice mode. Towards the right side of the level you will see a little old lady standing in the background. When you get close to her, you will be prompted to hit to use her as a bludgeon. The achievement will unlock as soon you hit your opponent with her.

  • Kill yourself with Kotal Kahn for 1 round and win the match

    (4)

Kotal Khan has a special move named 'Blood Offering'. It takes away 10% of your health but increases your damage output for a short time. To unlock this achievement, you can either start a VS game using a second controller or against the CPU on Very Easy; either way you must make sure you change your match settings to 2 ROUNDS. For the first round, let your health get to below 10% then hit yourself with Blood Offering ( ) to essentially kill yourself and lose the round. Now all you have to do is win the next two rounds and the achievement will unlock.

NOTE: Blood Offering has quite a long cool down so you can't just spam it. Be careful to not use it too early or you will be waiting on the CD or worse you could get caught by the CPU at low health and have to start over.

  • Jump 30 times in 1 match

This achievement can be unlocked in any mode, you just need to make sure you jump at least 30 times during the match. If you have managed this herculean task the achievement will unlock at the end of the match.

  • Duck 30 times during Fatality sequence

    (5)

This achievement can be unlocked in any mode, once you have defeated your opponent and are asked to 'Finish Him'. Instead, indulge yourself in the favorite past time of idiotic 12 year olds the world over and tea..g duck 30 times before the time limit is up to unlock the achievement.

  • Equip a Background, Icon and Border set

To unlock this achievement you need to enter your Kombat Kard, this can be found in Extras > Offline Kombat History. Once you have your Kard, open you need to hit to edit it. Then hit to change your background, here you should see a background that was unlocked when you choose your current faction. Press to show the details of the background on the right hand side and at the bottom it will say ' Equip Set'. Do this and it will change all three pieces of your Kard at once. Now press to exit out and when prompted save the changes to unlock the achievement along with "Back It Up", "Real Icon" and "So Bored."

  • Play 7 complete Test Your Luck matches

The Test Your Luck game mode can be found under the One Player section of the main menu. They are 1v1 matches VS the CPU that have up to five random modifiers active. Before jumping in, you can change your match settings in the Options menu to 1 round and 30 seconds to make this go a little faster. Now head over and start up a 'Test Your Luck' match, set the difficulty to Very Easy, set modifiers to 1 and select your fighter. At the start of the match, you will be shown which modifier is active, now you just need to win the match. If you are happy with the modifier that is active you can choose 'Rematch Same Modifiers' in the post fight screen. If you want to change it you can choose 'Rematch Different Modifier'. Either way, repeat this for another six matches and the achievement will unlock.

  • Unlock 50 Kustom Kombat Modifiers

Kustom Kombat Modifiers are used in the Kustom Matches. You begin with 15 already unlocked so if you are keeping track you will need to be up to 65 before the achievement will unlock. In total there are 105 modifiers and they can be unlocked in a few different ways. Unfortunately these are mostly luck based so if you are struck down by the vengeful RNG gods you could still be working on this achievement after everything else is done and dusted. First thing you will want to do is collect the 9 static modifiers from the Krypt. To collect all of them you will also need to collect all the artifacts spread out around the Krypt. The locations of the artifacts are shown below:

    Graveyard (Outdoor area)

    Scorpions Spear (-13,19)
    Sub Zero's Iceball (-21,20)

    Spider Cave (3,9)

    Raiden's Staff (5,11)
    Kung Lao's Hat (-7,12)
    Spider Gem (18,10)
    Reptiles Claw (6,30)
    Kotal Khan's Sword (22,34)
    Kenshi's Sword (5,40)

    Shao Khan's Temple (-2,18)

    Liu Kang's Fireball (0,6)
    Ermac's Medallion (-5,18)
    Jax's Rocket Launcher (0,12)

To acquire the final item that will allow you to access the Netherrealm, you need to head to the shrine at (-11,13). Make a maximum bet of 10,000 coins and you will receive the Kamidogu. Once your shopping trip is done, you will have access to all 9 modifiers located in the Krypt. The locations of these are shown below:

    Graveyard (Outdoor Area)

    Danger (2,10)
    Tilting World (-5,9)
    Quick uppercut Recovery (-4,19)
    Double Damage (-7,21)
    Wrestling Kombat (-19,16)
    Inverted Blocking (-22,8)

    Shao Khan's Temple (-2,18)

    Hand to Hand (-1,13)

Lost Mausoleum (accessed from Shao Khan's Temple at (0,19) after 7 on the Krypt clock)

    Gift of Reflect Armor (5,-3)

    Netherrealm (-23,18)

    Bag of Tricks (1,4)

Now that the easy part is out of the way, it's time to get the remaining 41 modifiers needed for the achievement. There are two ways we can do this, both unfortunately require a fair amount of luck. The first option which is recommended because it has a much better chance of awarding modifiers but again isn't guaranteed, is to farm the hourly Living Towers. Each of these will have a modifier active and once you complete the tower you should be awarded with said modifier. There are two problems with this, the first is that you need a tower to come up that has an active modifier you don't already have, the second problem is that there are some modifiers used in Living Towers that you aren't able to obtain; 'Alive' is an example of this, so it's not as simple as just completing 41 different towers.

The other option is to gamble your Koins away at the shrine. There is no guarantee that you will get a modifier regardless of the amount of Koins you bet but the higher you bet the higher the probability you will get a better reward like a modifier. A good way to farm Koins is to use the same method we used to grind out our FXP but equip your Kombat Kard with items that offer bonus Koins, the best of which is unlocked after reaching level 50 with all factions. Then just grind out matches using the quick brutality finish. The optimal method is to combine the two, it will take you 15-20 minutes to complete an hourly living tower, you can then spend the rest of your time farming Koins while you wait for the next tower. Rinse and repeat. As soon as you finally collect your 50th modifier the achievement will unlock.

    Reptile - (Close)
    Ferra/Torr - (Close)
    D'Vorah - (Close)
    Raiden - (Close)
    Quan Chi - (Close)

Once you have completed the last fatality the achievement will unlock. Remember to keep track of your progress using the checklist (PDF, Numbers, Excel).

  • Disco

Create a sun ray with Kotal Kahn and perform a flip stance 5 times while in the ray

    (3)

This achievement can be unlocked in any mode but it is easiest done in practice mode. Load up practice mode and select Kotal Khan. The first thing you want to do is cast a God Ray using . Then you have to go stand in the God Ray and flip stance () at least five times to unlock the achievement.

  • Complete aTest Your Might Tower

A Test Your Might tower consists of 10 stages, each one increasing in difficulty, that task you with breaking various objects. To complete each stage, you need to mash any of the face buttons. Mashing all of them seemed to work well for me, as fast as you can until the circle on screen turns green. Once the circle is green, you need to press either or to attempt to break the item. If you lack the phalangeal dexterity to pull this off at the higher levels you can try using a coin and rapidly rubbing it over the buttons. Once you have completed stage 10 the achievement will unlock.

  • See all Test Your Might deaths

There are a total of 13 different Test Your Might deaths, they are completely random and there is no way to know which one you will be hit by should you fail. To get this out of the way quickly, you can press either or as soon as the round starts to fail instantly and be killed. Even with the random nature it still shouldn't take you much more than 20-30 minutes to have all the death animations come up. To keep track here is a list of all 13 deaths:

    • Sektor bombs
    • Hellfire
    • Scorpion spear in the back
    • Arrows
    • Machine Guns
    • Kitana's Fan
    • Ermac Decapitation (green glow)
    • Kung Lao's hat decapitation
    • Scorpion spear decapitation
    • D'Vorah Insect swarm
    • Mileena's Sais
    • Meat hook
    • Raiden's Lightning strike
  • Play an Invasion Boss fight

Invasion Boss Fights are only available during an active Invasion event. To see if there is an Invasion in progress, you can check the Faction section of the main menu. For this achievement you only need to participate in an invasion boss fight. The achievement will unlock at the end of the match.

  • Deal 1,000 total hits during Invasion Boss fights

Invasion Boss Fights are only available during an active Invasion event. To see if there is an Invasion in progress, you can check the Faction section of the main menu. There are a couple of things to be aware off before you take on this achievement. The first is that the number of hits doesn't correlate to the amount of damage inflicted you are shown in the results screen, so if you inflicted 80 damage, that doesn't mean you hit the boss 80 times. As such there is no real way to track this achievement other than to check your tracker and work out what percentage of 1000 you are on. The second thing is that at the start of each match the boss is shielded, when you hit them you will see them flash gold and they will act like nothing happened, these initial hits before the shield is broken will not count towards the achievement.

Now that's out of the way, there are two methods we can use to score a good amount of hits per match. The first, recommended, method is to use Raiden and his combo. It's easy to pull off and you don't even need to hit then with every attack to score multiple hits as the last strike is a lightning punch that does multiple hits on its own. If you are struggling with pulling off this combo for some reason, then you can also try using a character with a high hit x-ray move like Jaqui Briggs or Lui Kang; both of their x-rays will hit 15 times. Whichever method you find works best for you just keep plugging away whenever you find an invasion boss available until you have your 1000 hits.

  • Complete an Invasion Tower

Invasion Towers are only available during an active Invasion event. To see if there is an Invasion in progress, you can check the Faction section of the main menu. An Invasion tower consists of 7 fights and one random 'Test Your Might' challenge. Invasion Towers are slightly harder than the regular towers. Each match has several different, oftentimes detrimental, modifiers active. Also there will be fights when the modifiers either only effect you or yourself and your opponent are effected by different sets of modifiers. Bear in mind you can use your 'Skip Fight' tokens at any point during the tower if you are struggling and it will not effect the achievement. Once you have completed the 8th and final fight the achievement will unlock.

  • Win an Invasion 1v1 fight

Invasion 1v1 fights are only available during an active Invasion event. To see if there is an Invasion in progress, you can check the Faction section of the main menu. Unlike the other Invasion related achievements, you do not have to be actively playing an Invasion game type to be challenges to an Invasion 1v1 fight. At anytime during an active Invasion, you can start up playing some 1v1 matches or a living tower and you should receive a message telling you about an Outworld assassin. You will be given the option to either except or decline the fight; accept the fight and win to unlock the achievement. It may take some time for you to be challenged so just keep retrying matches until you get one to pop up, they seem to be a fairly regular occurrence during invasions so you shouldn't have to wait too long.
