Introduction:
Welcome to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, a glorious game to make a comeback from a studio known as Criterion Games. Be ready to drive cars as normal as the Rotary Engine RX-8, to a V16 Quad Turbo Bugatti Veyron. Engage in intense pursuits from the seat of both racers and cops, to battle over the kings of the street.
Breakdown:
Most of the achievements can be earned in the single player career. You must get Gold medals on every event in the game, while along the way, do some miscellaneous achievements related to certain events and cars. You will get most of the equipment achievements while playing through the career, but you can do these at anytime and online. There are some achievements related to the autolog and playing races online. You do not have to win any online events to get the achievements. The last achievements you get will probably be ranking up as the Racer and the Enforcer. You will gain bounty (experience) in all game modes, so you can boost ranks online if you want to after completing the careers or replay your favorite single player events.
Single Player:
As you play the single player career, you will rank up some along the way while trying to get True Blue and Golddigger. If you get an event that is easy and a good bounty payout, you can do it a few more times and take advantage of it.
You will also have several achievements to earn that require a certain car in a certain event:
- Electrically Charged
- Flight of the Bumblebee
- Godzilla
- Iron Man
- Midnight Cowboy
Online/Autolog:
The online achievements are all very easy. You will get these Autolog specific achievements for posting on your wall, uploading pictures, having 5 NFS friends, and beating a friends score in an event:
- Share the Joy
- Settling the Score
- Share the Dream
- Graffiti
- Socialite
Then you will need to do online events with a friend or in public matches. You do not need to win. You should also note that, these achievements require an online pass. If you rented the game or bought it used, you can wait until you have 2 days free and activate the 48 hour trial that comes with the game or buy and online pass for 800 Microsoft Points on the Marketplace. You must play 50 events online to get all of these achievements:
- Festival of Speed
- Race
- Chase
- Escapologist
- Bounty Hunter
Miscellaneous Achievements:
As you play through the career, you will unlock most of the miscellaneous achievements. First, there are equipment related achievements that you should unlock as you earn new equipment in the career:
- Power Spike
- Aerial Assistance
- Eye of the Needle
- Vengeance is Mine
- Shock to the System
- Hit Confirmed
- Wall of Steel
- Gotcha!
- Burnout
- Denied
- In the Zone
There are also several achievements related to specific vehicles. These can be done online or offline:
- Shaken, Not Stirred
- Wet in the Vette
- Imprezive
- Snakebite in Black
Ranking Up:
After you finish the career, you should mostly just have ranking up left to do in this game. Your rank in online and career is shared so you earn bounty from everything you do. Doing events with good payouts and boosting online will help you rank up faster.
Racer Ranks:
- Suspect
- Target
- Felon
- Offender
- Outlaw
- Wanted
- Fugitive
- Notorious
- Most Wanted
Enforcer Ranks:
- Officer
- Patrolman
- Trooper
- Sergeant
- Lieutenant
- Undercover
- Captain
- Pursuit Agent
- Ultimate Enforcer
Conclusion:
Hot Pursuit is a very enjoyable game where you can just pick up the game and start racing. The achievements are pretty simple once you unlock the cars and events you need for some of the more specific ones but it's mostly getting gold on every event and ranking up. If you have the need for speed, you picked the right game to satisfy that need!
DLC: Armed and Dangerous
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
This adds two new game modes online (Online pass required).
The 3 achievements are unlocked in online game play and are easily obtainable.
Your first step is to play arms race and simply take down another racer.
Next play most wanted. Normally you will switch back and forth between cop and racer (If there is an odd number of players there might be a time you play as a cop/racer two rounds in a row) simply play enough rounds to play as each 5 times (winning not necessary).
DLC: Lamborghini Untamed
Step 1:Play through both cop and racer events:
On your right hand side of the Seacrest map is your list of DLC events. These events are pretty easy and if you've done most of the retail game events you should breeze through this. Once you've done both events for cop and racer you'll unlock "Masterpieces."
Step 2: Vehicle specific achievements:
These shouldn't give you too much trouble. The guide does an excellent job of describing how to unlock specific achievements. Here you'll finish up the DLC by unlocking:
- "Pin-up"
- "The Diablo You Know"
- "Flame Grilled"
DLC: Porsche Unleashed
Step 1: Play through both cop and racer events:
On your right hand side of the Seacrest map is your list of DLC events. Your goal is to try and get gold on racer and distinction on all cop events. This should get you "The Porsche Principle." Again this should be pretty straight forward and not cause you too much trouble.
Step 2: Vehicle specific achievements:
Here you'll be using the guide to get each vehicle specific achievement. You can replay events to unlock these. You should unlock:
- "Offroad Innovation"
- "Street of Dreams"
These are pretty easy and shouldn't cause you any trouble.
Step 3: Online Mop-up:
The last achievement should be boosted due to the online being pretty dead in this game. Use THIS thread to find a boosting partner. At this point you should of unlocked:
- "Top of the Range"
DLC: Super Sports Pack
Step 1: Play through both cop and racer events:
On your right hand side of the Seacrest map is your list of DLC events. Your goal is to try and get gold on racer and distinction on all cop events. This should get you:
- "Swift Justice"
- "Untouchable"
Time trials and Rapids responses will give you the hardest time. On the cop events if you hit anything time is deducted so be careful. The guide has some great tips on how to try and get gold on events. Try and go for vehicle specific achievements as well, but don't worry if you don't get them. Your main focus is on getting gold.
Step 2: Vehicle specific achievements:
Here you'll be using the guide to get each vehicle specific achievement. You can replay events to unlock these or boost them online with a friend. You should unlock:
"Sting in the Tail"
"Slip and Slide"
"Show Off"
"Moon Shot"
"Land Speed Record"
"Fender Bender"
Step 3: Online Mop-up:
For the last three achievements a boosting partner is recommended. Use THIS thread to fine one. At this point you should of unlocked:
- "Hotshot"
- "Blast Off"
- "Biteback"
x360a would like to thank littlejay, Delta3519, & Spanish Assault for this Road Map
