Introduction:
Pac-Man 256 is not like the Pac-Man some people may remember from the 80’s. This game is an endless runner game with power-ups. You must continue battling forward as a wave of glitches follow and destroy you if they get too close. You'll also bedodging ghosts, and the game will end when you die. It only features a local co-op multiplayer and you do need to create another account to play.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Pac-Man 256 is an endless runner, which only offers offline play. Most of the achievements can be obtained through natural play without too much trouble. That being said, there are some achievements that you will have to grind, too, but there is a nice exploit explained in the “Game Over” achievement solution. There are only 10 achievements to unlock but it could take up to 15 hours or more to complete the game.

Conclusion:
Overall, Pac-Man 256 is a very straightforward game to play and the controls are very simple to pick up. All you need to use is your left stick to move. I have only given the game 4/10 in difficulty because of the time it takes to grind the full 1000 unless you use the exploit.

There are 10 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Unlock every powerup

There are a total of 21 power-ups in the game and to unlock a power-up you need to eat a certain amount of Pac-Dots for each one to unlock. The amount needed goes up after each one you unlock. Overall, you will end up eating over 10,000 Pac-Dots just to unlock an upgrade. Of course, you can do it the legitimate way or you can refer to “Game Over” for more information.

  • Fully upgrade a powerup

Please refer to “Game Over” for more information.

  • Fully upgrade every powerup

This achievement is the biggest grind of the whole game. First off, you need to unlock the power-up by eating a certain amount of Pac-Dots. Then you will need coins. There are three ways you can earn coins: first, by getting a free gift when your run ends which are random; second, by completing missions; third, you can collect them in your game. There are eight levels for each upgrade that you must purchase:

    • Level 1: 16 Coins
    • Level 2: 32 Coins
    • Level 3: 64 Coins
    • Level 4: 128 Coins
    • Level 5: 256 Coins
    • Level 6: 512 Coins
    • Level 7: 1,024 Coins
    • Level 8: 2,048 Coins

So, overall you will need 85,680 coins to fully upgrade all 21 power-ups for the achievement to unlock. Alternatively, you can use this handy exploit below to get it a lot quicker. This method will help work towards “All Powered Up” as well. Thanks to The Hidden Levels for the video.

  • Eat 64 Fruit pickups in singleplayer

To unlock this achievement, you need to eat 64 fruit pickups. They are always placed randomly on the grid. It doesn’t need to be done in one playthrough as it's cumulative and should unlock naturally for you.

  • Eat 64 Ghosts while using a Power Pellet in singleplayer

This will come naturally if you keep eating the power pellets, which are round white balls on the grid. It’s cumulative and can be done over many runs. As soon as you have eaten 64 ghosts, the achievement will unlock for you.

  • Eat 2048 Pac-Dots in singleplayer

This will come naturally while working towards the other achievements in the game. You just need to eat 2048 Pac-Dots throughout your runs. Again, this is cumulative so you don’t have to get it in one game.

  • Complete 16 missions

The missions in this game are objectives and by completing them you earn coins. After completing a mission, the next one will appear for you. These missions involve:

    • Eat 0/5 apples
    • Collect 0/5 Freeze Power-ups
    • Reach 128 Pac-Dots
    • Eat 0/5 Power Pellets

Plus many more. So, after you have completed your 16th mission, your achievement should unlock. Please bear in mind you will have to put on the right power-up for it to show up on the grid. You do this by going to the lightning strike on the main menu and pick which one you need.

  • Score a 256 in singleplayer

The wording in the description is misleading as you don’t need to score 256 points, but you do need to eat 256 Pac-Dots consecutively with no breaks. So, keep an eye on the board in front of you and the achievement will unlock as soon as you eat 256 Pac-Dots. There will be a number that trails behind Pac-Man letting you know how many you have eaten.

  • Earn a x16 Ghost Multiplier from a Power Pellet in singleplayer

This achievement is extremely luck-based and you unlock it by eating 16 ghosts and you do that by eating a power pellet, which are white round circles which turn the ghosts blue. After that, you need to eat the 16 ghosts before the power pellet runs out. You can add more time to the clock by eating the blue ghosts, eating the white cube, and eating another power pellet. The achievement will unlock when your time runs out or if you have eaten the 16 ghosts.

  • Play a multiplayer game

From the main menu, select multiplayer and press on another controller to log in a second player. Then start the game and when both players are killed the achievement will unlock when the game ends. There is no online feature in the game and as far as I know, you can’t add a guest so you will have to create another account.
