Introduction:
Welcome to Persian Nights 2: Moonlight Veil, another game in the Artifex Mundi catalogue. If you're unfamiliar with their games, they're old school point and click adventure games with a heavy emphasis on puzzles and hidden object scenes. The achievements in this game are pretty standard compared to all their recent entries, with a few exceptions you only have to complete five HOPs without hints, there is a unique highly missable achievement, and a ton of story achievements for whatever reason. Everything else is par for the course (story stuff, collectibles, and miscellaneous achievements), including the usual missables. Let's get started.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As with all Artifex Mundi games, there are collectibles. There is one traditional type: rose-tinted moons (they phase in and out) that just look like red circles. Note, however, that there is another highly missable achievement for using all dialogue windows. While not a traditional collectible, there are multiple you need to do and none show up during story progression. Like most Artifex Mundi games, there are multiple points of no return. As a result, I highly recommend keeping a collectible guide open while you play through the game (a great one can be found in Celestial Collection (100G) for the moons, and use the one in Stay a While and Listen (20G) for the dialogue windows). I highly recommend grabbing each collectible as soon as you reach that scene.
Aside from the missable collectible achievements, there are a number of miscellaneous achievements that are also missable, so you should be aware of them and, ideally, take care of them as soon as possible so you don't have to worry about them for the remainder of your playthrough. Only one is game-spanning:
- Finish all minigames without skipping (Puzzle Expert (100G))
- Complete a minigame in under 60 seconds (Faster Than Light (20G))
- Finish 5 HOPs in a row without skipping (Skilled Searcher (100G))
- Complete an HOP with less than 4 mistakes (Flawless Aim (20G))
- Complete an HOP in under 60 seconds (Eagle-Eyed (20G))
- Find three hidden objects in under 3 seconds (Rapid Sweeper (60G))
The only game-spanning achievement just requires you to not press during minigames to skip them. Refer to the walkthrough in Soul of The Lost (20G) if you need any help with minigames; you can just mash during HOPs if you're playing on Casual. As for the one-off ones, you should be able to knock out all of those within the first 15 or so minutes of the game, allowing you to play through the rest of the game without worrying about missing any achievements (aside from collectibles). If you have any concerns about completing a minigame quick enough, you can make use of the walkthrough to ensure you have the solutions to those puzzles handy for when you start each one. As for the two HOP ones, there is a simple and guaranteed method to use to get both of those, described in Flawless Aim (20G).
Once you complete the game, you should be done with this completion.
Conclusion:
This game is pretty standard as far as Artifex Mundi games go. This is the only one I've seen that makes you seek out dialogue windows, which is annoying and easy to miss. Other than that, the achievements in this one are very easy and the completion will only take you a few hours. Hope you enjoyed, and congratulations on another completion.
