Planet Coaster is a management simulation game where you can build and maintain your own theme/amusement park and try to make it as profitable as possible. Build rides and shops, place scenery, or hire staff; your ultimate goal is to make your guests happy. Whether you’re completing objectives in Career mode or building your park from the ground up in Sandbox mode, Planet Coaster gives you the tools necessary to make your park as successful as it can be.

Note that these steps are interchangeable and can be done in any order.

Step 1 - Career Mode:
There are 14 achievements for 400 specifically tied to Career mode, with another four for 70 that will be unlocked through natural progression. This is where you will be spending the bulk of your game time.

For the rank achievements, you only need to reach Rank 10, which unlocks when you earn 57 stars. But to complete Career Mode, you need to earn all 72 stars the game has to offer. Some of the Hard scenarios are difficult to accomplish and have very strict guidelines and requirements. Refer to Rank 10 (80G) and Star Studded Career (80G) for more information.

Step 2 - Challenge Mode:
Challenge mode tasks you with performing specific objectives in your new park. Some are simple and some are more difficult, but you have the option to do whichever ones you want. There are three achievements for 65 to unlock for completing 1, 5 and 10 challenges over a period of time. Refer to Challenge Veteran (50G) for more information about this mode.

Step 3 - Sandbox/Frontier Workshop:
Sandbox mode is where you can let your imagination run wild. There are no restrictions to what you can build, plus you have unlimited funds, so get ready to build your dream park!

Who are we kidding? The only reason you are going to be playing this mode is to unlock achievements, am I right? So let’s get started. In this mode, you should be unlocking 17 achievements worth 465. You will be completing activities such as rehiring staff, winning first place in a Go Karts race, achieving a park rating of 1000, and training a staff member, to name a few. Some will be quick while others will take some time.

For 10 of those 17, it is highly recommended that you access the Frontier Workshop to download a specific coaster in order to unlock those 10 achievements within minutes. If you choose not to download that coaster, it will take you much longer. Refer to Air Miles (80G) for more information.

Conclusion:
While the controls are a little wonky compared to its PC counterpart, and it could use more editing features, Planet Coaster is a fun and relaxing game, and with the available modes, you can often find yourself getting lost and spending hours creating and maintaining every aspect of your park.

Complete the tutorial
It is recommended that you play the tutorial as the first thing you do in the game as it introduces you to the different aspects of park. It teaches you how to place rides and scenery, build coasters, manage staff and profits, and a variety of other things, all of which will be used in Career mode.

From the main menu, select ‘Career’. From here you will be able to view all the different sets you will eventually play (with increasing difficulty). As you earn stars, more sets will unlock for you to play. Select the top set, ‘Oswald’s Park Practice’. This set has two scenarios, but you only need to complete the first one, ‘Green Pastures’, to unlock this achievement.

You begin with a preset park with objectives to complete. All are very straightforward, so just proceed step by step until they are all done, which should take about an hour. The last objective is to build a roller coaster, and for that, you will automatically unlock Coasting Along (5G). After riding the roller coaster yourself, this achievement will unlock.

Once you receive the gold star, you will unlock Rank 2 (5G).

Earn a gold star in Career mode
Note: Earning stars in the tutorial do not count for this achievement. You will unlock all three star achievements the first time you earn each in Career mode. These will unlock naturally on your way to Star Studded Career (80G).

If you are completing the sets in difficulty order, this will unlock upon completing the first scenario in the ‘Captain Lockjaw’s Buried Treasures’ set called ‘Pirate Battle’.

To earn all three stars in this scenario, the objectives are:

Easy (Bronze)
- Attract 800 Guests
- Build 2 Rides
Medium (Silver)
- Attract 900 Guests
- Build 4 Rides
Hard (Gold)
- Attract 1100 Guests
- Have a balance above $15,000.00
You start off with approximately 650 guests, one ride already built and $6,500.00 already collected. In order to attract more guests, and in turn make more money, you need to raise the prestige of each ride. To do that, you need to place as much scenery as possible to get their rating up to 100% (found at the bottom of the first tab when you select a ride).

After placing three more rides (make sure the entrance queues are long enough for lots of people), work on the scenery. Once they are all up to 100%, look at what their prestige numbers are. Based on those, you can set more profitable prices. The ride price should be the prestige number divided by 35-40. If that number is any lower, you will be charging too much and people won’t ride it.

Once you set the price, open the ride. Repeat for all the rides and in time, you will earn all three stars. You can fast forward time ( + ) to make it go faster.
Star Studded Career

80
Earn all the stars in Career mode!
You need 72 stars in Career mode to unlock this achievement. To accomplish this, you need to earn all stars in all 24 scenarios/9 sets (which includes the tutorial), at which point you will attain the rank of ‘Master Coaster Crafter’.

Each scenario has three stars; Easy (bronze), Medium (silver) and Hard (gold). By playing through Career mode, you will learn how to manage your park in a variety of different ways, such as supervising staff, maximizing profits on rides and concession, marketing and advertising, raising the park’s rating, researching rides and attractions, and repaying loans.

As you increase in rank, so does the difficulty. In some of the later scenarios, your resources are more limited and therefore you must think of creative ways to complete the objectives presented to you. Being efficient but profitable is key to a successful amusement park.

Playing the scenarios in order will help you to prepare for the later, more difficult, ones. Utilizing and applying the skills and experience learned throughout the game will assist you in developing a good strategy to complete everything the game has to offer.

Achieve Career Rank 10
You need 57 stars in Career mode to unlock this achievement.

Earning stars is achieved by completing scenarios in each of the sets presented to you. Each scenario has three stars; Easy (bronze), Medium (silver) and Hard (gold), and you are given 1-3 tasks in each of those that must be completed in order to earn that star. The tasks vary from maximizing profits, building rides, attracting guests, reaching monthly profits, and supervising staff, among others.

There are 9 total sets; one Tutorial, one Beginner, one Easy, three Medium and three Hard. As you elevate your rank, the set difficulties also increase. It is recommended that you complete the sets in difficulty order because as you grow to understand what needs to be done on some of the easier ones, you can utilize that knowledge which will assist you in completing some of the more difficult ones.

If you are going in difficulty order, Rank 9 is achieved by completing the first six sets (through Medium), which will be 45 stars. To achieve Rank 10 and this achievement, you can mix and match scenarios in the three remaining Hard sets to earn 12 more stars, but take note; to unlock Star Studded Career (80G), you are required to earn all 72 stars in Career mode.

Complete ten challenges in a single park
In Challenge Mode, you begin with a clean slate and you build your park based on what challenges are given to you.

Author’s Note: Some challenges that are given to you might not be able to be completed. I had challenges for creating a restaurant with two rooms, creating a hotel and have guests stay for 30 days and creating a fireworks display and have 100 guests mesmerized for 30 seconds. I didn’t have access to any of these.

Start by selecting ‘Challenge’ from the main menu, then on the next screen, choose a region. A window will pop up for you to select your difficulty. While you can choose any difficulty, since the three challenge achievements don’t require a difficulty, it is highly recommended that you choose ‘Easy’. When the map opens, you are given a park entrance, a wide open area and $8,000.00 (if on Easy). If you have dabbled in Career mode, then you should be familiar with park management. If not, based on the available challenges, spend your money wisely. Refer to Brightest Star in the Sky (15G) for some tips on generating a profit for your park.

Challenges will appear in the top left of the screen, up to three at a time, so complete the ones you think you can complete. It is suggested that you build your park around your challenges; first, to minimize cost, and second, so you don’t overbuild. Some will be straightforward, but some will be more difficult, so feel free to dismiss any you’d rather not attempt. The only drawback to this is that a new challenge doesn’t appear for a few minutes, so you may be twiddling your thumbs waiting for an easier one. Remember, you can always hold and press twice to fast forward time. When you complete a challenge, there will be a cash reward which, when claimed, get added to your current spending balance.

If you wish to stop playing, you can save your park and continue at another time with no penalty. Just remember to select the same park when you continue. Once you’ve completed 10 challenges, the achievement will unlock.
Money Spinner

50
Achieve a monthly profit of $10,000
On your way to earning all 72 stars in Career mode, you will naturally unlock this in the first scenario of the ‘Dex-R’s Science Shenanigans’ set called ‘Night Encounters’, if you are playing the sets in order. This is one of the two Hard (Gold) objectives.

This may unlock before reaching that scenario. Following the strategy in Brightest Star in the Sky (15G), make sure your rides are priced effectively and each of them is 100% prestige. As for shops, place them in higher traffic areas and also price them accordingly. Training your staff and not over-hiring is another way to maximize your profits.
Loan Survivor

Repay a loan of $20,000
On your way to earning all 72 stars in Career mode, you will naturally unlock this in the second scenario of the ‘Princess Amelie’s Fairy Tale’ set called ‘Silversmith Manor’, if you are playing the sets in order.

You start off the scenario with a $25,000.00 loan already taken out. One of your gold objectives is to pay off all loans, and at the start of this scenario, this is your only outstanding loan. Your starting payment is $750.00 per month, which should be left as is for the time being (you can even lower it to $500.00). Instead, you want to focus on raising the rating and value of your park (for the other objectives), and to do that, you need rides, services, and scenery. Note that building a roller coaster in this park is not required or even necessary, but feel free to experiment. It is suggested, however, that you build a railroad track ride encompassing the park to move patrons around easier and quicker.

When you’ve earned a fair bit of money and your park is running smoothly, navigate to the ‘Research & Development’ tab in ‘Park Management’ (). Select ‘Loans’ and if you’ve accumulated enough money, you can pay the loan off. Since we didn’t change the monthly payment, you should need between $20,000-24,000.00. If you feel comfortable with the money you’re earning to complete the other objectives (if you haven’t completed them yet), go ahead and pay off the loan. Once you click ‘Done’, the achievement will unlock.

Note: If this is the last objective to complete, once you pay off the loan, you will earn your gold star and the game will ask you to either stay in the park or continue your career; it will not let you click ‘Done’. If this happens, choose to stay in the park, and then you will be able to click ‘Done’ and earn this achievement.
Marketing Mogul

50
Spend $10,000 on marketing in one month
This can be earned in both Career and Sandbox modes, but Sandbox is probably better because you have unlimited funds.

To complete a marketing campaign, press to open ‘Park Management’. From there, navigate to the ‘Research & Development’ tab, select ‘Marketing’ then ‘New Campaign’. There will be three options: ‘Print’, ‘TV Commercials’ and ‘Online Campaign’. Print and Online cost $1000.00 each but TV costs $5000.00, so select ‘TV Commercials’ and you are given three options. Select one to start then repeat the steps to start a second one. Each will be for 30 days, but you can fast forward time by pressing + .

Note: If you have ‘Auto Renew’ checked, once the 30 days are up it begins another campaign, so unless you uncheck these boxes, you will have to wait out another 30 days.

Once they are done, highlight each campaign and press to complete them and the achievement will unlock.
Doing Your Homework

Complete a research project
This can be earned in both Career and Challenge modes.

To complete a research project, press to open ‘Park Management’. From there, navigate to the ‘Research & Development’ tab, select ‘Research’ and then ‘New Research’.

Next, select a category you want to research (if there is more than one). There will be different costs and research times attributed to each selection. Make your selection then continue to work on other objectives of the scenario while you wait. You can fast forward time by pressing + .

Once it has completed, return to ‘Research’ and press to ‘Reveal Research’ and the achievement will unlock.
The Ratings Are Through the Roof!

Achieve a Park Rating of 1000
This can be earned in both Career and Sandbox modes, but is quicker in Sandbox.

Start by selecting ‘Sandbox’ from the main menu, then on the next screen, choose a region. When the map opens, press or to select ‘Scenery’. Press to refine your search and select the third icon in the first column (the building icon). A second set of columns will appear so select the second icon in the third column (the huge building icon). At the bottom right of the list is the ‘Fairytale Large Castle’ for $15,000+.

Select the castle and place it anywhere in the map boundaries. Keep selecting and placing the castle over and over again and your rating will increase each time. To reach 1000, you need to place approximately 20 castles on the map.
Investing in People

Train a member of staff to the highest level
This can be earned in both Career and Sandbox modes, but is quicker in Sandbox.

Start by selecting ‘Sandbox’ from the main menu, then on the next screen, choose a region. When the map opens, press or to select ‘Facilities’. Press to refine your search and select the third icon (the toilet icon). Two more columns will appear so select the third icon in the second column (the person icon) then place any staff building along the path.

Next, press or to select ‘Staff’ and place one or more staff members on the path. Hold and press twice to fast forward time. Then press (Park Management) and select ‘Staff’ then ‘All Staff’. The next screen will give you a list of all the staff members.

Highlight the staff member and press until you are in the ‘Training Level’ column. If the up arrow is greyed out, it will tell you when the employee can be trained. Wait until that date (since we sped up time), and when available, press on the up arrow to train them to the next level. Repeat this until all five dots are white, unlocking the achievement.

This is unlocked while playing through the tutorial. When it comes time to place a roller coaster in the park, you will be asked to research the ‘American Arrow’. This is automatic. Once you reveal the research and eventually place the coaster, connect the entrance and exit to the main path, open the coaster, and this will unlock.

You can also unlock this in Sandbox mode. Refer to Air Miles (80G) for more information.

Create a coaster with 15 moments of airtime
On the main menu, select ‘Frontier Workshop’. Press to move over to ‘Browse’. Select ‘Coasters’ then press and type in ‘Achievement Coaster’ then press . A list of community made coasters will appear, so press and select ‘Rating’. Search for ‘Achievement Coaster’ by Wildtreecko297. Press to select it then again on ‘Subscribe’. This will download the coaster for you to use.

Back out to the main menu and select ‘Sandbox’ and a region. When the map opens up, press to open the ‘Coasters’ tab. Move down to the last selection which will be your downloaded coaster, select it then place it within the map boundaries. You may have to rotate it or adjust the height in order to place it.

After placing it, an info panel will open and it will say the coaster is untested. Highlight ‘Test Coaster’ and press to test it. Allow it to cycle through back to its starting point (you can speed this up by holding and pressing twice). When the car stops, 10 achievements for 325 will unlock:
1. Scream if You Want to Go Faster! (5G)
2. Speed Freak (10G)
3. Faster than Lightning (50G)
4. A Head for Heights (10G)
5. Jaw Dropping (50G)
6. Don't Stop Me Now (10G)
7. The Ride of Your Life (50G)

Crashing the Party

Create a coaster crash involving 300 guests
For this achievement, we’re going to be using Sandbox mode.

Start by selecting ‘Sandbox’ from the main menu, then on the next screen, choose a region. When the map opens, extend the path that’s already there a bit farther because we will be placing roughly 8 rides along the path.

Once the path is created, press or to select ‘Rides’. Place 8 different rides along the path, each with entrances and exits. It doesn’t matter which ones, as long as there is variety. It is recommended that you make the queue lines short (instead of long in Career mode) because you want the maximum amount of people spilling over into the main path. In addition, once you place the ride, open it. When everything is in place, fast forward time by holding and pressing twice.

If you want, you can place small shops in between the rides, as well as create a couple of marketing campaigns, to draw in more guests, but these aren’t required.

Next, we are going to build part of a coaster that’s in direct line of the path. Press or to select ‘Coasters’ the press to ‘Create Custom’. Press to select ‘Launched’ and choose a coaster. Place the platform in line of the path, roughly the same distance as the path you added. Before placing it, verify that the direction of the coaster is going towards the path. Start building your track, having it ascend a couple of track pieces before leveling out and then curving down so it can pick up speed. Descend the track so it’s still above your path so the coaster cars fly off the track.

Once that’s in place, make sure there are enough guests in the park (that number is in the center-left bottom of the screen). If the number is decent, test the coaster and watch the magic happen. Keep it testing until the achievement unlocks.

If for some reason it doesn’t, whether it’s not lined up correctly or if it’s landing too far from the guests, you may have to adjust the path, track, or build a whole new coaster.

Salt of the Senses

Add the maximum amount of salt to your fries
This can be earned in both Career and Sandbox modes, but is quicker in Sandbox.

Start by selecting ‘Sandbox’ from the main menu, then on the next screen, choose a region. When the map opens, press or to select ‘Facilities’. Press to refine your search and select the second icon (the shop icon). A second column will appear so select the second icon again (the burger icon). Look for a Monsieur Frites shop and place it along the path then back out so you aren’t in build mode.

Select the building and press to select the ‘Price’ tab (a price tab icon). If not already selected, move down to ‘Small Fries’ and press to move over to the plus sign. Click on it and a menu will open. For ‘Salt’, press until the selection says ‘a lot’ and the achievement will unlock.
You're Hired!

Re-hire a staff member who has quit
This can be earned in both Career and Sandbox modes, but is quicker in Sandbox.

Start by selecting ‘Sandbox’ from the main menu, then on the next screen, choose a region. When the map opens, press or to select ‘Staff’ and place one or more staff members on the path.

As the staff member is walking around, place the circle cursor on them and press . An info panel will open up, so while on the first tab, move all the way down to the bottom right and there will be a ‘Fire’ option. Press on it to fire the staff member. As they are walking away, place the circle cursor on them again and press . The same panel will open, but this time, the top option will be to rehire them. Select it to unlock the achievement.
You're A Winner!

Win a Go Karts race while driving the kart
For this achievement, we’re going to be using Sandbox mode.

Start by selecting ‘Sandbox’ from the main menu, then on the next screen, choose a region. When the map opens, extend the path a few lengths to give us enough room to create an entrance and exit.

Next, press or to select ‘Track Rides’. In this menu, choose the ‘Princess Amelie’s Castle Carts’ for $18,000+ and place it at the end of your path. Connect a queue path and exit path to the main path, but before opening the ride, change its name to BOLLARD (all caps). This name allows you to participate in the ride. Once that is done, press to the gear tab (Operations) and change the laps to ‘1’. Now that everything is set up, you can open the ride.

At the bottom right of each tab of the ride info panel is a camera icon. Select it and you will now be sitting in the first car. Once all the cars have filled up, the car will move to the starting line. When you get a green light, press to accelerate, but don’t keep it pressed. When going around turns, move in the direction of the turn but don’t overturn or over correct or you will spin out. Once you go around a few turns, you should get the hang of it. Finish the race in first place and the achievement will unlock.
