Who can forget the game Qix? Well, if you did or never heard of it, now you can enjoy this classic arcade game in all it's splendor! Easily one of the simplest games designed, but also most addicting. You must use your craft to cut up space and achieve a certain percentage of it back, which is specified at the top of the screen at the start. In this case, it's 75% to 80% completion, and win back your territory from the evil Qix, while avoiding their attacks.

Right out the box, this game is not an easy 200 as it will require a good amount of skill, as well as repeated playthroughs. Plus, since the online community is very small, much like all Taito games, it's almost impossible to get a game going sometimes, so you may need to find a boosting partner for Combat Rookie and Combat Specialist.

Step One: Scenarios
Running through the first two scenarios are fun and easy. Use Scenario 1 to get familiar with the controls and how to play the game. You may think it's easy but Scenario 2 is definitely a lot more difficult.

Each scenario is broken up into 8 stages, and the more space you acquire, the more power ups you can get for your ship. Shoot for around 90% complete, sometimes it can be less than that, and you obtain 3 points. You will unlock Section 1 Champion and Section 2 Champion. Take this time to try to get 3 points in the first seven stages to unlock Golden Marker. You will also unlock Fledgeling Marker naturally during these playthroughs.

Step Two: Multiplayer
If no one happens to be playing this, utilize the achievement trading thread to boost this game with someone. Multiplayer is set up so that you can have upwards of four players playing at a time with a point distribution of 10, 7, 5, and 3 (10 being 1st place, 3 being 4th place), and the first person to clear 90% of the board, or more, wins. Make sure you try to get as much ground as you can, but also focus on clearing ground on your opponents as you would on the Sparx for more points. Win a total of 300 points in ranked matches and you'll get Combat Rookie and Combat Specialist.

The amount of points you have obtained through all of your plays is displayed in the lobby prior to the match starting, so there's no need to keep tabs on the points yourself. They appear to the left of the bars that represent your internet connection speed.

Step Three: Clean Up
Now that you have played the game and understand a bit more about it, now is the time to clear up the rest of the achievements. Expert Marker and Master Marker will come naturally as you play, but Understated Marker will take a little more time. Other than that, try to obtain 95% or more on each stage to obtain Precision Instrument and Top Notch Success if you really push yourself to get higher scores, and as close to 100% as possible per stage to grab Truly Magnificent Deed.

Qix++ is not the hardest game on the arcade, but it will take skill and persistence in order to obtain the full 200. Either way, it is worth the 800 MSP for a fun, easy, and addicting game that you'll play well past the 100% completion mark with your friends on a rainy day between releases.

There are 12 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Defeat a total of 5 QIX.

    See Master Marker.
  • Defeat a total of 30 QIX.

    See Master Marker.
  • Defeat a total of 100 QIX.

Each section is broken up into 8 stages with 1 Qix per stage. Beat the stage, then beat the Qiz. You will unlock this achievement (as well as Expert and Fledgling Marker), after stage 5 of your 13th playthrough. I suggest Section 1 if you just want to unlock it because it's much easier.
  • Defeat a total of 100 Sparx and Pawns.

This is easily done in Section 1 on stages 1 and 5. Start taking territory, make sure you leave a decent amount to work with, and wait. Eventually the Qix will turn red and start shooting red "Sparx" at you, which follow along the edges of the stage. Simply claim a piece of territory buy cutting a square with the Sparx on it, and you destroy it. Repeat until the achievement is unlocked.
  • Obtain 30 points in Ranked Match.

    See Combat Specialist.
  • Obtain 300 points in Ranked Match.

You earn points by what place you finish in. Points are also distributed by how many players. Ranked matches can have 2-4 players with 2 CPU players available if you cannot get and want 4 involved. You earn 3 points even if you come in dead last, and 10 points if you come in 1st. Just keep playing until you get enough points for this and Combat Rookie.
  • Reach a Cleared % of 95% or higher on eight separate stages.

Simply clear 95% on eight separate stages. As you box in the Qix and take more of it's territory, it get's smaller. If it doesn't, then you need to find the PD power up to make it smaller. This is easier to obtain on Section 1, and you cannot get this by getting over 95% on one stage 8 different times.
  • Upgrade every Customize Screen parameter to the maximum level.

You absolutely must get 3 upgrade points after the first seven stages (since you don't upgrade after stage eight). You must clear at least 90% per stage to do this.
  • Clear Section 1.

Clear all eight stages in Section 1 of Single Player Standard mode.
  • Clear Section 2.

Clear all eight stages in Section 2 of Single Player Standard mode.
  • Gain 2,000,000 points in any Section.

    See Truly Magnificent Deed.
  • Gain 3,000,000 points in any Section.

Use section 1 for this. You need to clear as much ground as humanly possible. In stages 1, 3, 5, and 7, you can obtain 99%+, and you need over 98% on 2, 4, 6, and 8. Make sure you use the box method by trying to box the Qix in. Some become smaller when trapped and lose territory but others you need the PD power up to make them small, like the Qix that shoots lasers out. This one is the hardest achievement to get, and the most time consuming, so take your time if you really want that 200!
