Quake 4 is a great game that is sure to bring back some good memories if you were a fan of the earlier titles. I’m not going to lie to you. If you are planning on getting the complete 1000 in this game, buckle up and prepare for a LONG ride. The single player achievements are not stackable, so this requires you to playing through each difficulty individually. The multiplayer achievements, while not completely out of reach, are going to be very difficult to achieve because they are very time consuming and few people play online.

Introduction
Welcome to Quake 4. This game has a total of 50 achievements and requires four separate playthroughs to get the full 1000. 27 achievements are unlocked simply by playing through the story and 23 are gained by playing through the multiplayer portion of the game. Finding a good group of friends is crucial to netting the full 1000 in this game. If you don't have anyone on your friends list with this game, you can find some partners in the forums.

Step 1: Preparation
Whether you decide to give General difficulty a stab from the get go or whether you decide to hold off until later, I can’t stress enough that you need to just take your time, make use of your ammo wisely, and you’ll be fine. I would strongly recommend playing the game through in an easier difficulty, so you’ll have somewhat of an idea of where the enemies will be and where you will run into bosses. This will allow you an opportunity to see which weapons are most effective against the multitude of enemies that you will encounter and allow you to map out your strategy when going back through the other difficulties.

Note: The "Top Ten" and "Number One" achievements to get to the top of the leaderboards will take you a long time and consist of getting a dedicated group of boosting partners together. The method for boosting to get these achievements can be found in the Quake 4 guide located below. Tons of gamers have boosted to get these achievements so be prepared to sit in for the long haul and find other dedicated gamers who will join you in your endeavor. The only other achievement that will take you longer will be the "Seasoned Warrior" achievement. This achievement requires you play 5000 online ranked matches. I recommend doing a bunch of Quickie matches where the max kill limit is 5.

Step 2: Play the Game
Simply play through each difficulty progressing through the storyline and you’ll earn the achievements for single player. There are three achievements that you will want to focus on while you progress through the game. Those achievements are: "Galactic Order of Heroism", "Sky Marshall’s Medal of Valor", and "Solar Star of Courage". A description for how and when to get these is listed in the Quake 4 guide as well. Please read them carefully.

As for multiplayer achievements, good luck. In all seriousness, the likelihood of getting the vast majority of the multiplayer achievements is possible - it will just take you a long time. Keep in mind that we are talking about a game that was released when the Xbox 360 first hit shelves, so you’ll be lucky to find many people playing. Be sure to check the forums to see if anyone would be interested in boosting the achievements with you.

Step 3: Mop Up
If there are any achievements that you forgot or missed, just simply go back and reload your saves or start over to get them. Again, for multiplayer matches, it will just take a lot of patience and a good group of willing gamers to help you net all of those achievements.

Conclusion:
That's it! If you've gotten to this point and followed my advice you should have 1000 in this game. If by chance you make it to this point and you do get the full 1000, please send me a private message in the forums. I’d like to shake your hand and congratulate you myself! This is a very worthy, time consuming 1000 that few people will have so you can consider yourself to be among the elite.

There are 50 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Completed Act 1 with the rank of Private.

Die to the Makron at the end of the act. You will know that you win when he shoots a purple ray at you. On easier difficulties it will take a full nail gun clip, then strafe with the hyperblaster. On harder difficulties, such as General, you will have to strafe jump and use two nail gun clips as well as some hyperblaster ammo.
  • Completed Act 1 with the rank of Corporal.

    See "Private - Act 1".
  • Completed Act 1 with the rank of Lieutenant.

    See "Private - Act 1".
  • Completed Act 1 with the rank of General.

Die to the Makron at the end of the act. You will know that you win when he shoots a purple ray at you. This is where it gets really hard. The Makron, depending on how much health and armor you have, can easily kill you in one-two shots with a hit. One from a grenade, two from his rays he shoots out. The best strategy is to try and get into the boss fight with at least 70 health and 70 armor, or at best 100 health 100 armor.. trust me you'll need it. Strafe jump and crouch to confuse the rays, and when he shoots the grenades out, run for the hills. After they shoot out and blow up, use all your nailgun and hyperblaster ammo. He will go down, he's just going to take a while. The best strategy to beat general is simple - Save everytime you kill a strogg. Trust me, you will have over 200 saves by the time Act 1 is complete. Autosave is useless. Try to conserve your ammo, snipe with the machine gun is a great option to conserve ammo. Just save constantly and it'll be a breeze!
  • Completed Act 1 and Act 2 with the rank of Private.

Defeat Voss, the Boss at the end of the chapter. Use your newly modified rocket launcher, strafe jump, grenade him, whatever it takes til his shield goes down. After that, hit him with nailgun ammo or more rockets, he will then recharge, repeat.
  • Completed Act 1 and Act 2 with the rank of Corporal.

    See "Private - Act 2".
  • Completed Act 1 and Act 2 with the rank of Lieutenant.

    See "Private - Act 2".
  • Completed Act 1 and Act 2 with the rank of General.

Voss is still rather easy on General. Just be careful of the enemies he spawns. The strogg tend to come with shotguns and stronger guns than before, try to kill Voss quick, or kill the strogg he sends out before they can kill you. Otherwise, just load rockets into him, lock on with the nail gun, or a combination of the two and he will go down for the last time on single player! Once again, General is a pain to do if you aren't in the habit of saving your game manually. You will once again have over 200 saves if this is done properly, be sure to delete them after you complete Act 2 if you need the memory.
  • Completed the game with the rank of Private.

Defeat both the Makron and the Brain. The Makron is easily killed with a few shots from the Dark Matter Gun on both forms. When the brain appears, shoot at the top near the blue pole above the brain with a rocket. Then pummel the brain with either the Dark Matter Gun or Rockets, depending on which you have more with. Very simple for a final boss.
  • Completed the game with the rank of Corporal.

See "Private - Defeated the Strogg".
  • Completed the game with the rank of Lieutenant.

See "Private - Defeated the Strogg".
  • Completed the game with the rank of General.

Alright, this isn't as challenging as the first boss fight. Three to Four Dark Matter Gun shots on the first form of the Makron will hopefully kill him if they are good shots. If not, switch to homing rockets or the nail gun. His second form gets a bit trickier, try to conserve rockets and use the Dark Matter Gun though, you'll need a ton of rockets for the end. Just strafe jump and hide behind the pillars, emerging to nail him with the DMG whenever possible. The Brain form is once again easy, shoot the top of the brain by the blue pillar with a rocket, then unload as fast as you can into the brain. Rockets are generally found in the corners of the top if you run low on health. Be sure to keep moving when you are on top though, on General the units that spawn are much more deadly, such as the Heavy Tanks, Judges, and strogg infantry with Railguns. Save everytime you kill one form of the boss with as much health as possible, you will need at least 125 health and 50 armor to beat the brain easily, if not, repeat until finished!
  • Completed a level using only the lightning gun.

A level must be completed using only the lightning gun. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you.
  • Completed a level using only the dark matter gun.

A level must be completed using only the Dark Matter Gun. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you. You should have at least 10 shots with the gun, and it kills everything in one hit anyways. If you run low, just sprint to the end.
  • Completed a level only using the railgun.

A level must be completed using only the Railgun. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you.
  • Completed a level using only the hyperblaster.

A level must be completed using only the Hyperblaster. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you. Also, all of the single player achievements are best done on the easiest difficulty, Private.
  • Completed a level using only the rocket launcher.

A level must be completed using only the Rocket Launcher. By this level, you should easily have 30 rockets, if not, remember, you only need to kill one unit to and only use the Rocket launcher to get the award.
  • Completed a level using only the nailgun.

A level must be completed using only the Nailgun. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you. Also, all of the single player achievements are best done on the easiest difficulty, Private. This can be done before the TSD level, but you receive both upgrades before this level, so its much easier to do with the lock-on ability.
  • Completed a level using only the grenade launcher.

A level must be completed using only the Grenade Launcher. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you. Also, all of the single player achievements are best done on the easiest difficulty, Private. The marines with you in the level will do most of the killing, just be sure to kill at least one unit with the grenades and you can easily run through the level back to the base, regardless if the marines survive or not.
  • Completed a level using only the shotgun.

A level must be completed using only the Shotgun. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you. Also, all of the single player achievements are best done on the easiest difficulty, Private.
  • Completed a level using only the machine gun.

A level must be completed using only the Machine Gun. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you. Also, all of the single player achievements are best done on the easiest difficulty, Private.
  • Completed a level using only the blaster.

A level must be completed using only the Blaster. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you. Also, all of the single player achievements are best done on the easiest difficulty, Private.
  • Completed a level without taking any damage.

Beat a level without getting hit. This can be done in any level, I don't really recommend the TSD level for it though. The best level to do it in is the first level, where there's so few enemies and on private you can't really be hit. Save after every kill if you are scared to get hit.
  • Won a Ranked match without ever being fragged.

    *ONLINE*

Win a ranked game without dying. You and one friend need to search a deathmatch quickie game. The best times are early in the morning when few people are on. You need to kill your friend five times without dying, just have him let you kill him. If people keep joining your deathmatch game, then search Tourney Quickie, it only takes two kills and no one ever searches tourney. Very Simple.
  • Achieved the number one rank on the All Gametypes leaderboard.

    *ONLINE*

Rank in at Number One on the overall leaderboard. Sadly, once again, the only way to get into the leaderboard is to glitch or boost. Easiest way? Glitch like I described in General Multiplayer. It should take about 7 to 8 glitch games to be number one, depending on how high the number one player currently is.
  • Achieved a ranking in the top ten on the All Gametypes leaderboard.

    *ONLINE*

Sadly, the only way to get into the leaderboard is to glitch or boost, however you want to call it. Even if you play 5k games, it's still doubtful you will get this award. The easiest way to achieve it.. even though it's really unfair, is to use the glitch I described for General Multiplayer. It should take about 6 games to get into the top 10 and get this award.
  • Played over 100 Ranked Multiplayer Matches.

    *ONLINE*

Just keep playing CTF for the awards, this will come after you have accomplished the Silver flag and before the Gold Flag. If not, just keep playing Deathmatch Quickies or Tourney Quickies.
  • Played over 500 Ranked Multiplayer Matches.

    *ONLINE*

Deathmatch Quickies or Tourney Quickies is the fastest way to get it.. if you call that fast. It is the quickiest way, its just a little bit time consuming. Just keep playing and you will get it.
  • Played over 1,000 Ranked Multiplayer Matches.

    *ONLINE*

Deathmatch Quickies or Tourney Quickies is the fastest way to achieve this. It's very time consuming, but just play and play until you get it.
  • Played over 5,000 Ranked Multiplayer Matches.

    *ONLINE*

Once again, this will take a very long time, but it is possible, Keep playing with friends or anybody, just keep doing Deathmatch Quickies or Tourney Quickies and you can unlock this, just after a very long time.
  • Over 100 captures in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

Search Endurance Arena CTF with either just you, or two people. Have two other people search as well, or three, depending on what you would like to do, it doesn't really matter as long as the game starts. Take scout, capture the flag, and return it. Ten games is all it takes if you can get 10 captures a game. This is very easy to do. Odds are you will already have some captures from getting the 100 assists award, so it should come fairly quickly.
  • Over 500 captures in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

A little more daunting, but still fairly easy. Search Endurance Arena CTF with either just you, or two people. Have two other people search as well, form a party of four, it doesn't really matter. Once the game starts, take scout, capture the flag, return it. The game will end after about three minutes. Repeat this about 50 times, give or take a few games, depending on how many you got when you were getting your 100 assists award, and the achievement is yours.
  • Over 1,000 captures in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

Don't be fooled by the number, it only takes 100 games to get this one, and it'll help you out in the long run with getting your ranked matches played. Search Endurance Arena CTF with either just you, two people, doesn't matter, just get a game start. Take scout, get the flag, repeat ten times. Start another game right afterwards. Needs to be repeated around 100 times, give or take a few games, and the award is yours!
  • Over 100 frags in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

Easiest done if you have at least 3 friends. Play Arena CTF Endurance and take the doubler. You can average 50 kills a game with the powerup. Or, if your friends are nice, they can host a party of three and search Arena CTF Endurance and you can by yourself, making it a 3v1. If they are good friends, they will let you rack up kills for 30 minutes as well as some easy flag captures. You can get around 150-200 kills this way a game until it gets boring. If you don't have any friends willing to help you out, Deathmatch Average Or Endurance will net you 15 or 30 kills, respectively, if you win.
  • Over 500 frags in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

    See "Viper Squad".
  • Over 5,000 frags in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

  • Over 10,000 frags in Ranked matches.

Do not be daunted by the huge amount of kills, it doesn't take as long as it seems to, you will probably achieve all of the frag awards and not realize it until the Achievement Unlocked screen appears.
  • Over 100 win points in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

Deathmatch Endurances are worth a whopping 30 points a game if you win, Deathmatch Average 20, and Deathmatch Quickie 10. CTF games are generally not a very quick way to get points, as though even on endurance with 2-3-4 people on your team you will probably only get 8-9 points a game. Keep playing and you can rack up points. However, there is a way to get this achievement in one game, as well as the other point achievements which I will explain in the General Multiplayer achievement.
  • Over 500 win points in Ranked matches

  • Over 1,000 win points in Ranked matches

    *ONLINE*

    See "Private - Multiplayer".
  • Over 5,000 win points in Ranked matches

    *ONLINE*

Here is the easiest way to do it, and if done properly, you can get all four point achievements in one game. *Credit goes to Sina117 for this* Start an Endurance Arena CTF game. You will want to be on a team with 3 people and search for a game. Have a fourth person search as well. When the game starts, hopefully you will get a map with a pit. If there is a map with a pit, continue to part A. If not, part B.

Part A - So you're on a map with a pit. Congrats, this will be very easy. The two members of your team will need to kill themselves by jumping into the pit 100 times. They can not get a kill, touch a flag, anything. This should take about 10-15 minutes. After they kill themselves to -100, they are to sit there and not do anything, as though the slightest point could screw it up. The person that is getting the points, obviously the one not killing himself, will capture the flag 9 times with doubler. This should take about 4-5 minutes, depending on the map. Now, the lone person on the other team will (after nine captures have been made) take your flag (being your team) back to his base, BUT DO NOT SCORE IT! The lone person with the flag will get as close as possible to the flag, and when he does, the person receiving all the points (On the team of 3) will kill him, thus getting a holy sh!t everytime, which is worth 3 points. You will continue killing him until your point total is at 195 points, not kills, points. 195 points is what you need to be at. By the time you achieve 195 points, capture the flag, and return it to the base. But do not do so until your team has killed themselves 100 times. You will return the flag, your score will be 201, and you will receive 6k points for one game, which should take about 15-20 minutes, depending on how fast your team can kill themselves.

Part B - So, you're on a map with no pit? Well, you have two options. You can leave the game and keep trying, or take the other route. The two people on your team must still kill themselves to -100, however its a bit trickier. The easiest way to do it is to have them take the doubler, use a hyperblaster and shoot into a wall 100 times. Everytime they die the hyperblaster will drop in the same place, they can pick it up, kill themselves, repeat. This works with Nailguns, Rockets, etc. Just has to be done as quickly as possible. This may take longer, but it can still be done, it will just take about 15-20 minutes. You will return the flag, your score will be 201, and you will receive 6k points for one game, which should take about 20-25 minutes, depending on how fast your team can kill themselves.
  • For heroism in battle, SGT Raffle of Raven Squad has awarded you the Galactic Order of Heroism.

Before the last tower you have to climb, near the end of the game, the level before you fight the Giant Stroyent Creature who flies and shoots rockets at you is the level where you receive this award. The award consists of saving the Marine, Tech, and Medic who accompany you. There are very few enemies and it's really easily done. As long as you lead, they can't die. Just be careful of the Gladiator in the room right before you take the teleporter. After you beat the level, the award is yours. Incase the level description wasn't enough, it's the level where at the start you hear the voice in your headset saying a marine blew himself up with a grenade. Its very easy, even on General to save these guys.
  • For rescuing PVT Lanier of Eagle Squad, you have been awarded the Sky Marshall's Medal of Valor

Rescuing Private Lanier of Eagle Squad is really simple. He is the lone marine you find on the "Zombie" level, the level where you fight Voss at the end of it. You will find him halfway through the map, and afterwards all you have to do is just help him survive. Easiest way is to run ahead and Railgun Snipe every unit for the next couple of rooms you go into. Lanier has a bad habit of staying behind and the zombie's or the Grenade Launchers get him, so try to hurry it up, taking too long means more zombies, which you don't want to happen! Easily done on Private.
  • For courage in battle alongside Viper Squad, CPL Mahler has awarded you the Solar Star of Courage.

The first level where you have a Tech, Marine, and Medic accompany you is the level this is found on. The Marine's name will be Corporal Mahler (Who gives the medal). They must survive in order to receive this, and the level is two levels long. This can be easily done on private, though it can be done on any difficulty, it's just that private is the easiest and they seem to die the least. Just run through the two levels and you will receive the award as long as no one dies. After you meet up with Rhodes, you will receive the award.
  • Over 250 Defense awards in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

Simple. Once again, search Endurance Arena CTF with just you, and have three other people search as well. Take the doubler, sit in your base. have the three continuously come for the flag, but don't touch it. They need to be close but not capture it. You will receive a defense point upon touching the flag. This can be done in one or two games, depending on how fast the enemy comes to your base.
  • Over 100 assists in ranked matches

    *ONLINE*

Search Endurance Arena CTF by yourself, have another party of three search as well (as previously described). Take scout and get the enemy flag. One of the enemies on the party of three needs to go get your flag (your being the one) and wait in your base. Kill the flag carrier, return your flag, and score the flag. You will receive an assist. Repeat until you have 10 captures. You can only get 9 assists a game, so this will take about 12 games. If you don't have any friends willing to help you out, try and search Deathmatch Average/Endurance and recruit people to help you with this. This is a very easy achievement to get, you just need people to play with (As with all of the CTF achievements)
  • Over 500 Excellents in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

This is a toughie. The easiest way to do it is to have three friends make a party of Arena CTF Endurance and search, while you search being alone. Take the doubler, go to their base, and have your friends keep lining up by the flag so you can kill three with one shot, you will receive a rampage when you kill all three in one shot as long as you are accurate, and will receive 2 excellents everytime you do so. It's possible to get this achievement in two games if you have good quick friends! If not, just keep doing it until you can get 500. If you don't have any friends online, play deathmatch average or endurance and just try to use rockets or grenades for double kills.
  • Over 250 Impressives in Ranked matches.

    *ONLINE*

If you have three friends that are willing to help out, search Endurance Arena CTF and you search the same but alone on your own team. Take Ammo Regen, do not take doubler! Take the Ammo Regen, go over to their base, and just keep killing them, your ammo will regenerate so you have infinite shots with the railgun. Just keep hitting them until you receive 250 of them. This can be done in 1-2 games is done properly. If you don't have any friends, Deathmatch Average/Endurance and you can get a crapload of them off of people, just keep at it.
  • Over 250 players have been humilated by you.

    *ONLINE*

The best way is to have three friends search Endurance Arena CTF and you search the same but by yourself. Get doubler, go to their base and they let you kill them. It should only take one hit from the gauntlet to kill them, just have them stand by the flag so it's easier. You can get this easily in one to two games if done quickly. If you don't have any friends, then the best way is to play Deathmatch Average/Endurance and run around with a gauntlet all game
  • Awarded on completion of a level where a shot was landed with every weapon in a full arsenal.

A level must be completed using every single gun, and landing a hit with each of them. The easiest level to do this on is the level with the TSD's where you have two soldiers, a regular marine and a Tech accompanying you. Start off with the Blaster and work your way up. If you get near the end and still have some guns left, there is a strogg unit that teleports units in, usually weak ones, that you can use as target practive. The weapons can be done in any order, just as long as you use every weapon.
