Introduction:
Welcome to Queen's Quest 5: Symphony of Death, another point and click adventure game from Artifex Mundi. If this is somehow your first one, they are first person point and click games with a heavy emphasis on puzzles and hidden object scenes. As with all Artifex Mundi games, there are collectibles to hunt down, many miscellaneous achievements, and then a handful of story ones. Strangely, this is the first Artifex Mundi game (on console, anyway) that is free to play, but comes with microtransactions for hints. There is also only one difficulty setting, which is a mix of some Expert and some Casual elements. From an achievement standpoint, they're actually slightly easiest because of the new approach. Let's get started.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As with all Artifex Mundi games, there are collectibles. There are also many points of no return, meaning most collectibles are easy to miss. As a result, I highly recommend keeping a collectible guide open while you play through the game (a great one can be found in Collector (100G)). Every scene has at least one collectible (a handful have two). Because of this, every time you come to a new scene for the first time, you should make it a point to find all collectibles in the scene first before proceeding with the story. They're quite difficult to find many of them on your own, especially the puzzle pieces that blend it well with the background, so definitely take advantage of the guide.
Aside from the missable collectible achievements, there are a number of miscellaneous achievements that are also missable, so you should be aware of them and, ideally, take care of them as soon as possible so you don't have to worry about them for the remainder of your playthrough. The requirements are:
You should be able to knock out that short list of miscellaneous achievements within the first 15-30 or so minutes of the game, allowing you to play through the rest of the game without worrying about missing any achievements (aside from collectibles). If there are any you aren't sure of or confident about, jump to their solutions to get a better idea of what to do in advance.
Aside from the collectible achievements and some miscellaneous achievements above, all other achievements are story related. As a result, once you complete the game, you should have the full gamerscore. No playthrough of the bonus chapter is required for any achievements.
Conclusion:
Queen's Quest 5 definitely has a slightly different feel to it from other Artifex Mundi games with its new format. Depending on how much you relied on hints and button mashing in HOPs in recent titles, this one may feel a bit slower to you. Thankfully, the achievements are simplified as a result though, so all it takes is a little patience to get through all the HOPs and minigames. Enjoy another completion!
