Introduction:
Rango is a short but sweet ride to an easy 1000. It features 9 short levels of gameplay which entail Rango platforming, fighting, and shooting his way to the end of the level. It provides little to no challenge, even on hard mode and all achievements unlock when they are supposed to. The full 1000 can be obtained in one playthrough if you start out on hard mode and collect every collectible.

Step 1 - Full playthrough:
Start the game out on hard mode so that it only takes one playthrough for the full 1000. Hard mode doesn't live up to it's name because it's incredibly easy. Make sure to follow this guide for all of the collectibles: HERE (Credit to NiteJokester). If you miss a collectible there's no need to worry because you can simply replay the level and find the collectible(s) you missed. While playing through the game, take note of the level specific achievements in the achievement guide which are: "Meep! Meep! Meep!", "Good Air Day", "They Got a Pill For That", and "This is Bat Country!".

Step 2 - Mop up:
After you have completed the game you will more than likely have the "Red, White & Blue Sevens" achievement still left to do. For a good boosting method use this guide: HERE. You may also have some other achievements left to do like completing levels without dying or other level specific one's, just simply click Tales Select and pick the level you need to replay for them.

Conclusion:
This game is fun and you will be unlocking achievements constantly throughout the game which is an added incentive to play this. It offers no form of challenge even on hard mode, which makes this a great game if your just looking to breeze through and get a quick gamerscore fix.

  • Collect 150 000 Sheriff Stars

    Refer to the "Red, White & Blue Sevens" achievement for more information.

     

  • Collect 200 000 Sheriff Stars

    You can collect Sheriff Stars by breaking crates, killing enemies, and performing other actions. Spending Sheriff Stars does not effect this achievement in any way. I would recommend that you spend your Sheriff Stars on upgrades that boost Sheriff Star output e.g. more Sheriff Stars for killing enemies. More than likely you won't have unlocked this by the end of the game. You can boost your total Sheriff Stars by using the method found HERE. (Thanks to Suki). To use this method, pick "Tale Select" instead of choosing a new game.

     

  • Collect 100 000 Sheriff Stars

    Refer to the "Red, White & Blue Sevens" achievement for more information.

     

  • Collect 1000 Sheriff Stars

    Refer to the "Red, White & Blue Sevens" achievement for more information.

     

  • Collect 10 000 Sheriff Stars

    Refer to the "Red, White & Blue Sevens" achievement for more information.

     

  • Complete a tale using only your gun

    Just complete a level without using any melee attacks on enemies, pretty simple really. You may get away with breaking boxes and collectibles with melee attacks though, as long as you don't hit an enemy with a melee attack you should be fine. However just to be on the safe side I recommend you use your gun to break all crates, barrels, and fish bowls. Level 2 (Water Train) would be a good level to obtain this achievement on.

     

  • Defeat 500 enemies

    Refer to the "Widow Maker" achievement for more information.

     

  • Defeat 1000 enemies

    This should come naturally as you play through the game. You should be killing every enemy you come across because you need the Sheriff Stars they drop for the "Red, White & Blue Sevens" achievement. You are also forced to kill most enemies in order to progress further. If this hasn't unlocked by the end of the game it should unlock while you are boosting your Sheriff Star total later on. I unlocked this mid way through level 5, so you shouldn't have to boost for it.

     

  • Defeat a shooter without using your gun

    As soon as the enemies with guns first appear, just run up to one of them and melee (press ) him until he dies and this will unlock.

     

  • Complete a tale without dying

    I would recommend level 1 (Jenkins Cousins' Homestead) for this achievement. This is really easy even on hard mode. The only parts of the level which may give you any trouble are the platforming aspects. If you don't get this on level 1, none of the other levels pose much of a challenge either, so you should get this on your first play through.

     

  • Defeat 20 enemies using manual aim

    To manual aim, hold down and then aim at an enemy and shoot them. It is best to kill cockroaches because they die in 1-2 hits. You will have plenty of good opportunities to get this easily so there is no need to go out of your way to get the kills.

     

  • Complete hard mode and gather all unlocks & all collectibles

    It may be called hard mode but it is incredibly easy and the only chance you will die is from falling while platforming. To make it even easier you can spend Sheriff Stars on upgrades that increase Rango's health and his weapon performance. You can buy upgrades from a salesman who is found throughout each level.

    To collect all of the collectibles please use the guide found HERE.  (Credit to NiteJokester) You may have enough Sheriff Stars by the end of the game to buy all of the upgrades, if not please see the "Red, White & Blue Sevens" achievement for a good Sheriff Star boosting method. As soon as you buy all of the upgrades this will unlock but you have to have completed the game and collected all of the collectibles as well.

     

  • Complete Land of Giants

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This will unlock after you complete level 4.

     

  • Complete Rodent Clan

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This will unlock after you complete level 5.

     

  • Complete The Forbidden Mine

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This will unlock after you complete level 3.

     

  • Complete Jenkins Cousins' Homestead

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This will unlock after you complete level 1.

     

  • Complete Water Train

  • Defeat Rattlesnake Jake in The Return of Rattlesnake Jake

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This boss fight is at the end of level 6 and it shouldn't give anybody too much trouble. To dodge most/all of Jake's attacks simple run from right to left or vice versa. To hurt Jake you have to wait until he roars or he is lying down stunned and then shoot him as fast at you can. After you hurt him enough, you have to kill his minions to be able to hurt him again. They should drop items to replenish your health which helps out a lot. After a while of repeating this, you will beat him and the achievement will unlock.

     

  • Defeat Lars in Land of Giants

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This boss fight is at the end of level 4 and it's quite easy. All you have to do is hit golf balls at Lars's head. Do this three times in a row and you will have defeated this boss. Just fill the power meter to about halfway and then control the ball so that it hits his head.

     

  • Defeat Bad Bill in Rodent Clan

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This boss fight is at the end of level 5 and it might pose a bit of a challenge but not much. You are on a roadrunner and you are tasked with dodging debris, bombs, mini gun bullets, and enemy minion fire while you are shooting at the stage coach that Bad Bill is riding on. To dodge the debris, it may be easier to jump over some of it. For the mini gun fire, just run from side to side to dodge it. Killing the enemy minions quickly is vital because they drop items that replenish your health. All in all it's not that hard to defeat him.

     

  • Defeat Bad Bill in Water Train

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This boss fight is at the end of level 2 and it is a very easy fight even on hard. As soon as the fight starts manual aim ( hold ) and shoot the bomb in Bad Bill's hands before he throws it at you. This will get you the "They Got a Pill for That" achievement and waste a lot of his health. He will then hide and you must kill all his minions to make him come out of hiding and start throwing his bombs again. You can also just spray bullets at him with your gun, that also works well.

     

  • Defeat Bad Bill in Forbidden Mine

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This boss fight is at the end of level 3 and it is very easy. You will need to hit a golf ball at a bell to knock it down and trap Bad Bill. After you do this the achievement unlocks. There is no penalty for missing so it's very easy.

     

  • Defeat the Alien Probe in Alien Showdown

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    This boss fight is at the end of level 9 and it is very easy. All you have to do is shoot the eye every chance you get. You will also be dodging floor lasers, fire, and killing minions. This shouldn't be hard at all because the minions drop a lot of healing items.

     

  • Shoot Bad Bill's dynamite bundle before he throws it in Water Train

    This achievement is obtainable on level 2 (Water Train). Refer to the "Thirsty Work" achievement for more information.

     

  • Smash open 250 crates

    If you just smash every crate you come across, this will unlock shortly. I unlocked this on level 3. You will be smashing crates anyway to get Sheriff Stars so this shouldn't be a problem.

     

  • Hit 3 bullseyes in a row

    Near the end of the first level you will first come across a Golden bullet but there are only two targets so it is not possible on this level. It is first possible on level 2 (Water train). Although on level 3 there is a much better spot with 4 targets and a closer checkpoint if you mess up. To hit the Bullseye you just need to guide the bullet to the center of the target which can be quite annoying but you should get the hang of it after a couple of tries.

    Note:
    If you miss getting a bullseye you can purposely miss any subsequent target and you will be reset right at the Golden Bullet spawn point and can try again immediately. So say you hit bullseye #1, and then miss bullseye #2 just steer the bullet to COMPLETELY miss the third target and you can retry without having to do any backtracking.

     

  • Defeat 6 zombies with one golf shot

    Near the end of level 7 (Zombie Invasion) you will have to hit golf balls at zombies that are in a grave yard. To kill 6 zombies with one golf ball I would recommend that you wait a couple of seconds for all of them to spawn and then hit the golf ball with about 1/2 power and aim for the massive cluster of zombies at the back of the grave yard. This isn't hard to do at all because the explosion of the golf ball is massive and you can control where the golf ball goes after you have hit it.

     

  • Hit a bullseye in Golden Bullet mode for the first time

    Refer to the "100% Bull" achievement for more information.

     

  • Ride a roadrunner for an entire level without dying

    When you start level 2 (Water Train) you are riding on a roadrunner. Just make sure you don't die and this will unlock. This is very easy to do even on hard and there is another spot where you can get this later on if you mess it up. If you are having a hard time getting this, just replay the level after you have finished the game and lower the difficulty.

     

  • Launch an enemy with an uppercut then shoot him three times

    Hold  and press to perform an uppercut. Uppercut an enemy and then rapidly press to shoot him while he's in the air. Not very difficult but it may take you one or two attempts.

     

  • Launch 10 enemies off the train in Water Train

    This is obtainable on level 2 (Water Train) after you finish riding the road runner. Hold and press  to perform an uppercut. Just aim your uppercuts so that the enemy will go flying off the side of the train. There are more than enough enemies to do this on so don't worry.

     

  • Lure a Jumper to land on a shotgun shell

    This is first obtainable on Level 3 (The Forbidden Mine). At the very end of this level is where these enemies will first appear. They aim their jump so that they land on where you were last standing before they jumped. Just make sure you are standing near a shotgun shell before they start to jump and then they should land near it and make it explode which unlocks this achievement. The shells are the big red dynamite looking things standing up in the open. The Jumper doesn't have to die from the explosion for this to unlock.

     

  • Defeat 100 enemies with melee attacks

    This is a pretty simple one as well. Just melee as many enemies as you can and this will unlock shortly. Since you get more Sheriff Stars for killing enemies with melee attacks, this should be your main way of killing enemies anyway.

     

  • Defeat a huge charging rabbit using only melee attacks, without taking any damage from him

    You meet the first charging rabbit on level 3 (The Forbidden Mine). All you have to do is roll (press ) out of the way to dodge it's charge. After you have dodged it's charge, melee it for a few seconds until it stops being dizzy and then dodge it's charge again and repeat. You have to kill it by doing melee attacks, shooting it will void this achievement. If you get hurt by it or shoot it by accident purposely kill yourself to retry it. There is more than one charging rabbit so don't despair if you mess up on your first try.

     

  • Acquire the Spreadshot and take out 10 enemies with it

    Refer to the "A Tommy Gun!" achievement for more information.

     

  • Escape the exploding train in Water Train

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    Midway through level 2 (Water Train) a fire/explosion will start behind you and you will be forced to run away from it. After you have run away from it, you will drop down back into the train compartment and this will unlock.

     

  • Ride a bat for an entire level without dying

    At the end of level 7 (Zombie Invasion) you will fly on a bat for the first time. This is a little bit harder than getting the achievement "Meep! Meep! Meep!" but not by much. Ignore the majority of the Sheriff Stars because they could get you hurt if you go for them. Kill flying enemies as soon as they are visible because they give you items that replenish your health. This shouldn't really be a problem if you focus on what's in front of you. If you are having a hard time getting this, replay the level after you have finished the game and lower the difficulty.

     

  • Survive the crumbling canyon in The Return of Rattlesnake Jake

    Story related and cannot be missed.

    Near the end of level 6 and just before the boss fight, you have to run for dear life because the floor is breaking underneath you. You have to keep running straight until Rango jumps off on to a safe ledge. I recommend you keep rolling by pressing constantly.

     

  • Acquire the Launcher and take out 10 enemies with it

    Refer to the "A Tommy Gun!" achievement for more information.

     

  • Acquire the Blaster and take out 10 enemies with it

    During certain fights there will be a Jack-in-the-box box which contains one of the three power ups (Launcher, Tommy Gun and the Spreadshot). You will randomly get one of these weapons from the box for a short period of time. Melee (press ) the box to activate it. All you have to do is kill 10 enemies with the weapon in the allotted time for the respective achievement to unlock. To make it easier purchase the upgrades to make the timer last longer. Holding down the instead of tapping it may make this achievement easier especially for the Tommy Gun.
