- Estimated achievement difficulty: 5/10
- Offline: 60 (1200)
- Online: 10 (200)
- Approximate amount of time to 1400: 35 Hours
- Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 2 playthroughs
- Number of missable achievements: None
- Do cheat codes disable achievements?: No Cheats
- Does difficulty affect achievements?: Yes, Veteran & Professional playthroughs
- Glitchy achievements: None
- Unobtainable achievements: None
- Extra equipment needed?: None

Step 1: Veteran Difficulty
I would highly suggest finding a co-op partner to play all aspects of steps one and two. It makes the game more fun, and easier. When you are playing through the game, be sure to use the guides for the treasures, eggs and BSAA Emblems. Also work on killing enemies with the prompts (20 needed). There are many other "random" achievements that you might be able to pick up at this time, but I wouldn't worry about them much. You can use chapter select and find the best places for them later, in Step 4. Purchase all outfits after you finish the game.

Step 2: Professional Difficulty
Once you've beat the game on Veteran you'll unlock Professional. If you've fully upgraded a weapon and have enough exchange points, be sure to unlock unlimited ammo for one of your better guns. A magnum is usually the best choice. Beat the game a second time now.
If you have a friend who has already unlocked this step, you can join their co-op game to skip Step 1 completely.

Step 3: S-Ranks/Farming
Again put the difficulty down to Amateur and use chapter select to gain an S-Rank in any chapter you weren't able to do so in steps one and two. Grab any treasures you don't have to go out of your way for to help with step five. Purchase all action figures after you have all S-ranks.

Step 4: Weapon/Environment Achievements
Using chapter select, view all the achievements for getting kills with certain weapons/in certain ways (including "Bad Blood"), shooting barrels, deflecting arrows, etc. and knock those out on an Amateur.

Step 5: Take it to the Max
Your last task will be to purchase and max out all the weapons. You can either exploit the egg glitch or use one of the other methods in the "Take it to the Max" achievement description for this.

Step 6: Online Versus
This DLC is all completely online, and includes 4 different playable games. There are 2 achievements for each game, and two other achievements that require you to unlock all playable characters, and another for defeating 100 enemies with melee attacks. Only 4 people are required to boost this, so finding players in the Achievement Trading Thread won't be too hard.

Step 7: Lost in Nightmares:
With only 5 achievements this DLC is short and sweet. The story only takes a couple of hours, so it can be done quick. There are collectibles, though, so check out this thread for their locations. You'll earn 3 different achievement for completing the story; Must've Got Lost, It's Just a Bad Dream and Night Terrors. During your fight with Wesker, if you inflict enough damage onto him, you'll unlock Kung Fu Fighting. This is best done on Normal, as he tends to run off early on Amateur.

Step 8: Desperate Escape
This DLC also includes 5 achievements. There are 3 achievements that you'll unlock regarding the story aspect; Getaway, The Great Escape and Run the Gauntlet. For killing 150 enemies in one run, you can take your partner's weapon and receive all kills. This can be done on Amateur. You'll unlock Way of the Warrior. For Shoot the Messenger, you'll need to kill 3 Agitator Majini in one run. These are the guys that carry the megaphone. There's a cutscene that occurs when they appear.

At this point you should be done. Anything left would fall in "Step 4" and you just need to knock those out with chapter select. Aside from how difficult and frustrating the boss battles become in Professional difficulty, this isn't really a hard game to get 1400 points in. If you unlock unlimited ammo, things go much more smoothly, especially if you do a speed run and unlock the unlimited rocket ammo.

As stated, each chapter in the game will net you an achievement, regardless of what difficulty you play on. These can be achievement solo or co-op. Each one will unlock at the results screen when you are given your grade.

  • Complete all chapters on Amateur.

    See "Veteran" for more info.

  • Complete all chapters on Normal.

    See "Veteran" for more info.

  • Complete all chapters on Veteran.

Veteran difficulty is available from the start and it would be a good idea to start there since the difficulties do stack. Starting here will give you a decent idea of what to expect on your Professional playthrough.

If you have a friend who has already unlocked Professional, you can skip this step and begin there, but you won't have access to any guns with unlimited ammo, which is extremely helpful on your Pro playthrough. You can ride on your friend's coattails though.

  • Complete all chapters on the most difficult setting.

After beating the game on Veteran, Professional difficulty will unlock. You will also have the ability to unlock unlimited ammo in any gun you have completely upgraded. You must purchase this ability with your "exchange points" which are given based on your grade in each chapter, and it only affects the specific guns you've used your exchange points on. The feature must also be turned on in the Bonus Features menu.

If you want to take that even further and unlock unlimited rocket launcher ammo, you can replay the game and beat it in under five hours (obviously easiest on Amateur difficulty).

  • Find all 4 types of eggs.

You must have all four types on eggs in your inventory at the same time. You can get this quickly if you have a friend with all the eggs, just have him give them to you. Otherwise, here are the first instance of their locations. Except the gold egg, they can all be found in multiple spots.

White - Chapter 1-2. Just before you head into the building with the lady in the black dress head up to the roof of the building which has the shotgun. Should be a chicken up there, if not he's already roaming about. Drops as white egg on Normal difficulty.

Brown - Chapter 1-2. Same as "white" but play on Amateur.

Gold - Chapter 3-1. Middle island on the map, the "chicken farm." Arrive and wait a moment, chicken should give a little cock a doodle do and drop it.

Rotten - This drops randomly later in the game from Chapter 4-1 onwards off defeating enemies.

  • Purchase all available alternative costumes in Bonus Features.

There are three costumes each for Chris and Sheva. The first two are available from the start and the second two unlock after beating the game. To unlock the final pair, you must collect 25 BSAA Emblems for Chris and all 30 for Sheva. Once you purchase all the costumes with your exchange points the achievement will unlock.

  • Obtain all available weapons.

There are two ways to earn weapons in the game. First, you can find silver cases throughout the game and pick them up, or you will unlock extra weapons by upgrading exisiting weapons. If you are playing co-op and your partner picks up a weapon, it will then be available for you to buy, or you can just go back into the level and pick it up for yourself later.

You must have one each of the following in your inventory at the same time:

    Hand Gun
    M92F - Found in Chapter 1-1
    H&K P8
    SIG P226
    M93R - Fully Upgrade M92F

    Ithaca M37 - Found in Chapter 1-2
    M3 - Found in Chapter 3-3
Jail Breaker - Found in Chapter 6-1
Hydra - Fully Upgrade Ithaca M37

    Machine Gun
    AK-74 - Found in Chapter 5-1
    H&K MP5 - Found in Chapter 2-1
    SIG 556 - Found in Chapter 5-2

    S75 - Found in Chapter 2-1
    Dragunov SVD
    H&K PSG-1 - Found in Chapter 5-3

    S&W M29 - Found in Chapter 3-1
    S&W M500 - Fully Upgrade S&W M29

Grenade Launcher - Found in Chapter 4-1
Rocket Launcher - Found in Chapter 3-1
    Stun Rod
Gatling Gun - Fully Upgrade ZV61
    Longbow - Fully Upgrade S75
    Frag Grenade
    Flash Grenade
    Incendiary Grenade

    Proximity Mine

  • Completely upgrade all weapons.

To unlock all the upgrades for every weapon you will need in excess of $1,000,000. The fastest way to earn money is by exploiting the Rotten Egg Glitch (described here) or if you want to do it "legit" you can make runs through the two temple levels (4-1 and 4-2) and pick up all the treasures. You can also begin 5-1 and kill a bunch of Lickers to get their treasure, then quit out (save your inventory) and repeat.
  • Obtain all treasures in the game.

A complete list of the treasures and their locations can be found here. There are four empty slots on the treasures screen, so don't worry that you're missing anything. The achievement won't unlock until you've collected everything, then exit back to the Item Management screen, choosing to update your inventory.

  • Find all the BSAA emblems.

There are 30 Emblems total in the game. You can check what you are missing in the Chapter Select screen. A text walkthrhough can be found here and a video walkthrough here

  • Collect all the figurines.

Most of the action figures will be unlocked by completing the game and finding all 30 BSAA Emblems. However, two require you to S-rank every level. This isn't very difficult once you have unlocked unlimited ammo on a magnum and go back to play the game on Amateur. You are ranked by accuracy, enemies kill, deaths taken and time to complete. Just blast through every enemy in solo mode (don't give Sheva a weapon) and you shouldn't have any problem getting an S-rank. Once you unlock the final two, the achievement will pop after purchasing them.

  • Save partner 10 times when HELP is displayed.

When your partner runs into trouble and is grabbed by an enemy the HELP icon is shown on screen. Run over and press to assist. 10 times and this will unlock.

  • Save partner 10 times when DYING is displayed.

Easiest way to do this is go onto a higher difficulty and don't give Sheva any weapons or health items. She'll soon get into trouble and when the DYING icon is displayed on screen rush over and press to resuscitate her.

  • Pull off 20 headshots.

Simple: aim, shoot, BOOM! 20 of these as you progress through the game and the achievement is yours.

  • Defeat 5 enemies with the Knife.

If you're feeling brave you can start taking on Majini with the knife right from the start. Other wise in Chapter 4-1 you can find spiders on the walls and snakes in pots which you can slice.

  • Defeat 30 enemies with the Stun rod.

This weapon can be purchased for 3K Gold. You can then either run riot throughout the game or head back to Chapter 1-1, after your first encounter with the Majini you burst through the window and as you head forward you encounter a mob which has over 30 infected.

  • Defeat 30 enemies with the Gatling gun.

To aquire the Gatling Gun you first need to fully upgrade the VZ61 Machine Gun, complete the game and then you can purchase it for 50K Gold. As above you can return to Chapter 1-1 and take out your 30 there.

  • Defeat 30 enemies with the Longbow.

To aquire the Longbow you first need to fully upgrade the S75 Rifle, complete the game and then you can purchase it for 50K Gold. You need to select Sheva as your character and as above you can return to Chapter 1-1 and take out your 30 there.

  • Defeat 20 enemies with physical attacks.

When you shoot an enemy enough he will step back, at this moment you'll see a on the screen that says either "Hook", "Straight", or if he is on the floor it will say "Stomp". Once you preform the action the Majini should be dead. Repeat 20 times and done.

  • Chain the maximum number of combos together in one go.

This will need to be performed on a Big Man Majini and is best done co-op since the AI won't really help you. Shoot him once with a weak shotgun (so you don't damage him too much) to staggar him, then have one person behin the chain by hitting X; then the other person will do the same; finally, the first person will have a special attack to finish them off.

This does not unlock for both players, only the person who hit twice and used their special attack. Make sure to return the favor to your friend!

  • Defeat a Majini with a headshot while it's jumping.

Chapter 3-2, after you've taken out the initial wave of Majini head down and they'll take out the bridge. Stay on your side for the moment at they will come to you jumping across the platforms. With the Gatling Gun, just aim up and keep firing when they're jumping across to you.

  • Shoot an enemy Molotov cocktail, dynamite stick, or hand grenade.

Chapter 2-1, you'll have an encounter with the dogs and then move round the containers and drop down. Here will be a few more dogs and a big guy Majini, look on top of the container behind him and you will see a Majini with explosives in his hand. Shoot it and you're done.

  • Deflect a bow gun arrow with your knife.

Chapter 2-1 will be the first time you encounter a Majini with a crossbow, there isn't really a trick here. Just get your timing right and this achievement will be yours.

  • Defeat 3 Majini with one grenade or proximity bomb.

End of Chapter 1-1 will be your best bet, wait until you get a group of Majini and throw a Hand Grenade at their feet and boom!

  • Defeat 2 enemies with one flash grenade.

The easiest way to get this is when fighting the big group of spiders after climbing the ladder at the beginning of Chapter 4-1. They die instantly from a flashbang and you can hit a good handful at the same time.

  • Defeat a Majini using the electric current from a transformer.

Again, end of Chapter 1-1. Once the Executioner knocks down the gate run out past him and look up to the left to see the Transformer (looks exactly like the achievement picture). Shoot it down once a Majini is near. If they don't die from the initial hit, you can shoot it to make it spark however many times you need.

  • Defeat 3 Majini at once by setting oil canisters on fire.

Yet again, end of Chapter 1-1 when facing off against the villagers and the executioner, wait until the executioner breaks down the barrier and run forward noting the oil barrels that you pass on your left. Turn around (make sure there is a nice distance between you and the barrels) and wait for some villagers to start running after you and shoot the barrel.

  • Defeat 3 Majini at once with a drum or gas tank explosion.

Chapter 2-1, after you take out the oncoming truck Majini will follow and there will be barrels left either side of the bridge. Wait until they're near and blow them up.

There are other opportunities throughout the game but this is the method I used.

  • Work together to save someone special.

Again at the end of Chapter 5-3 just after "Bad Blood." Wesker will depart and leave you alone with Jill. Move closely to her but be careful, too close and you'll get a boot to the face. The game will prompt you with the button to try and reason with her (if you are Chris); it may take a few of these prompts but Jill will then become confused. Sheva will grab Jill and give you the opertunity to try and grab the chest piece or shoot it, shoot it for now until it begins sparking. Now reason with Jill and when Sheva grabs her press to grab the chest piece then mash to try and rip it out. It will take a few attempts of this to finish the battle.

This will not unlock if you rip out the chest piece when Jill is on the floor.

  • Inflict a set amount of damage to your greatest enemy.

At the end of Chapter 5-3 you will engage in a boss fight with Wesker And Jill. You have 7 minutes here to inflict damage on Wesker to make him retreat, easier said than done. Best head into this one with a Magnum (even better if it's upgraded) to do the most damage.

At the start of the fight head towards the blue door on the right and Wesker should give you a heafty kick through it. Make sure your map is enabled, run away up the stairs and Wesker should follow looking for you. You should see his triangle looking both ways when you've lost him, at this point pop out and try to put some lead into him. Might take a few attempts to get this hang of this but it's doable.

Can be obtained in co-op even if you're playing as Sheva as long as the other person gives Wesker a kicking.

  • Stop an armored truck by taking out the driver.

Chapter 2-3, a truck will appear from the left. Dispose of this normally and another truck will now be on your right hand side, this is the easiest truck to get the driver. Shoot out the armour on his door window and he'll be exposed for a quick kill.

  • Defeat a Majini with a rotten egg.

Drop the difficulty to Amatuer and start chapter 1-2. Run through to where you encounter the female Majini, when you've got her attention shoot her with the pistol once and quickly equip the rotten egg and throw.

  • Defeat a certain enemy by stabbing it in the heart.

The Licker makes an overdue return in Resident Evil 5 in Chapter 5-1. Use a Shotgun blast to get the Licker on its back (wait for it to rear up on its hind legs for an attack before you shoot for better luck with this) and then run in quickly, you should get a prompt to knife it and voilà.

  • Build up a certain level of trust with your partner.

This achievement MUST be done in solo with the AI.

If you want this very quickly, load Sheva and yourself up with only healing items (buy spray cans if needed), then load Chapter 1-2 and shoot the transformer to the ground. Stand next to it and knife it to hurt yourself so she runs over and heals you. After she heals you, press to say "Thanks!" and her trust will go up. Repeat this until you get the achievement.

DLC: Versus Mode

There are 10 achievements with a total of 200 points

DLC: Lost in Nightmares

There are 5 achievements with a total of 100 points

  • Complete "Lost in Nightmares" on any difficulty setting.

This is a story related achievement.

Complete the Lost in Nightmares campaign and the achievement will unlock.

  • Complete "Lost in Nightmares" with an S rank.

You can do this on any difficulty, mush like the main game you are marked on your speed, kills, treasures and accuracy. Killing rats and spiders will reveal extra treasure collectibles, and aim carefully with your guns.

You can ignore most of the executioners as long as you kill at least four in the whole campaign. You can earn and S rank on any difficulty and while playing co-op. Decide which difficulty and if you want to play with a friend. The achievement will unlock once you see the mission summary screen.

  • Complete "Lost in Nightmares" on Professional.

Before you can complete the game on Professional you will need to do at least one run through on Veteran.

    Dealing with the Executioners
These guys will be your biggest threat while making your way through the story. Once you get to the trap section make sure you keep a close eye on where the Executioners are. They don't show up on your map so running into them can be fatal.

At certain points they will use their anchors to stop traps from falling, this will be your best chance at attacking. Use a flash-bang to disorientant them and use your melee attack to spring the trap. You can use the trap on up to two or three executioners at a time, though it's easier to deal with each one separately.

    Fighting Wesker
This may take a few attempts but once you get a rhythm going and know his attacks you should be able to time a perfect hit. Make sure you dodge when he attacks, just after you dodge and run for cover. He will run off after a certain period of time so keep evading him and countering his attacks.

  • Inflict a set amount of damage to Wesker in "Lost in Nightmares."

This sounds difficult but it can be done on any difficulty. Amateur may be the best difficulty for most people to complete this but Normal will give you more of a chance if you are having issues. Wesker will run off very soon into your fight on Amateur.

1). Fire at Wesker twice from across the room, he will charge at you

2). Dodge his attack (It can either be or depending on the difficulty.

3). At this point, either you or your partner can attack him ( for Jill, for Chris) depending on how which character you are

Keep repeating this process until Wesker decides to run from you. You won't be able to control your character at this point.

: If you miss the dodge opportunity, your partners attack on Wesker will cause him to block. If he blocks he won't suffer any damage from your partner.

  • Destroy all 18 of the Score stars found throughout "Lost in Nightmares."

Finding all 18 stars may be a little tricky if you're not paying attention. Either check every location for these stars of your can use the following guide:

    Lost in Nightmares Star Guide

DLC: Desperate Escape

There are 5 achievements with a total of 100 points

  • Complete "Desperate Escape" on any difficulty setting.

Complete Desperate Escape on any difficulty. See "Run the Gauntlet" for more information.

  • Complete "Desperate Escape" with an S rank.

You must complete Desperate Escape with an "S" rank on any difficulty. There are several categories that you'll be graded on, depending on your performance. If you average out an "S" rank, then the achievement will unlock.

Getting this with "Way of the Warrior" works well, because most of the time if you get 150 kills, then you an get "S" rankfor enemies killed. If you can keep you Accuracy high enough, then you should receive an "S" rank for that, as well. In order to get an "S" rank, at the end, your total score has to equal 80,000 or greater. So if you do not too good in one area, but REALLY good in another, it still works.

  • Complete "Desperate Escape" on Professional.

To unlock Professional, you must first complete Desperate Escape on Veteran. You can also join a friend who has already unlocked Professional. Doing this will save you a playthrough and the achievement will still unlock. Works best in Co-op, since the A.I. isn't the best partner.

Alright, now it sounds silly to make a guide on each area specifically, since my general strategy was to just run, and kill what's only ABSOLUTELY necessary.

    End Strategy
To start out, you should definitely have a shotgun and a sniper rilfe. Start out by running into that little building that has the 2 machine gun ammo and the 1 shotgun ammo. Pick them up, but be careful as it's very dangerous. May take a few tries to get it right. After that, run over to the area near the elevator, and jump up to the top. Stay on the left side (left if you are looking out towards where you came from, above the elevator) The guy with the shotgun looks straight out and shoots the guys that jump up, knocking them off. A pistol works too but does less damage, and you can only shoot 1 at a time. The guy the the machine gun looks out over the bridge, and as guys run across it, shoot the in the legs, beware of leg armor, and then run up to them and press to finish them off, conserving ammo.

Around 4 minutes left, for me, a Red Executioner spawned from the elevator. Multiple enemies with guns also spawned. One will spawn across the bridge, and the other with spawn on top of containers if you look straight out. They don't always spawn when the Red Executioner spawns, but they always spawn in same locations. When the Executioner jumps up, run across the bridge, and primarily the shotgun will take him out, with the machine gun guy covering his sides. A sniper rifle also helps here. Careful as the Executioner will blow up, delivering damage to you, and sometimes a guy will come up the ladder to your right that explodes too.

At about 2 minutes left, when Doug comments on he will be right there, a Reaper will jump down right on the other side of the bridge. Back up as far as you can, having the shotgun guy covering the side, the rifle guy shoots the Reaper when its chest opens up and you can see the gold/white/yellow thing. It stuns him, and another colored weak spot will pop up, shoot that as well with the rifle, and it may kill him or another one will pop out somewhere. Shoot them 2 or 3 times with the rifle and he is dead.

However, another Reaper may spawn, but take the same steps to take him out, or run if neccesary. A good spot to hide for a bit is the corner straight ahead and to your left when you jump down, a box is in that corner. Another Red Executioner will spawn too, but I do not recommend killing this one. Most likely you are low on ammo, and your best strategy is to run to that corner I mentioned, wait a bit, then keep running back up top, then to corner, and so on. You will have to shoot some things though.

NOTE: The weapons I have listed are just suggestions, they are in no way needed, and you may not even obtain them throughout the playthrough. Weapon spawns are random.

  • Defeat 150 enemies singlehandedly in one playthrough of "Desperate Escape."

Easily done on Amateur. Just take your partner's weapon away from him right at the start. (Press to bring up the item menu, then to see your partners, and choose request the weapon from him/her) Then just kill everything you see, you shouldn't run out of ammo, and it'll unlock before the end of the level. Getting this achievement is also a good way to get "The Great Escape".

  • Defeat 3 Agitator Majini in one playthrough of "Desperate Escape."

Alright, I am now positive on how to get this one. The Agitator Majini are the ones that carry around the white megaphone, and it shows a cutscene of them appearing. The Big Man Majini with a megaphone does not count. Best done on Amateur.

    1) In the first area, make sure to kill everyone! And you may be sitting there a while, but keep going until you are 100% sure that no one else is in the area. Make sure to climb up the ladder that leads to a room with a safe in it, and to check the other room with a safe. And also check the bathroom area. It is rumored that you have to climb up all 3 ladders, so just go ahead and do that, just in case. And don't touch the door until the enemies are gone. Then when you go through the door, wait to climb up the Co-op ladder, and kill the guys that jump down. When that is done, Co-op jump up the ladder, a cutscene should happen and run back to the original area to find the Agitator.

    2) In the area with the 2 rocket launcher turrets, when Jill has to co-op jump up a ladder and go around to let Josh in. Do not let Josh in just yet. Same as before, just kill all enemies. It may seem endless, but guys will eventually stop jumping down. When at the 2 rocket launcher turrets, if you look straight across, there are some enemies up there on that platform that you need to kill. That is also where the Agitator will spawn eventually. Use either a sniper of the turret to take him out.

    3) At the end area, where you have to survive. Make sure to just keep killing for the whole time, and remember once you run out of time from the first 5 minutes, it will raise up to 2:30 again., so don't panic if you don't get the achievement before then. Be sure to kill ALL of the enemies that spawn out of the elevator, and be sure to also kill the guys that jump down (like the Reaper thing, with the arms and slashes you) For me, on Amateur, it was Red Executioner from the elevator, Reaper, Red Executioner, then the Agitator spawned with around 25 seconds left the 2nd time. Be sure to kill him right away. If you don't kill him right away, the time will expire, and the DLC will end. Flash grenades work well on the things that pop out of heads. A tip is to put proximity mines in front of the elevator, so when the enemies walk out of the elevator they hit them and get hurt. I stayed in that area in front of the elevator, that has the opening, and the window to the right when looking towards the elevator.
