Step 1: Campaign
You can tackle this however you want, but I suggest you play this first playthrough on Normal or Casual to get a feel for the game and its controls. Use each different character and play around with their abilities to see which you prefer. You should also grab the only collectibles in the game which are 7 Raccoon Mascots (refer to Raccoon City Mascot in the guide below for locations) as you playthrough. You can aim for miscellaneous achievements now if you want or you can wait. It's up to you.
Step 2: Campaign – Veteran & Professional
This is where things become a little more difficult and you will probably want actual friends (Human players) to play with whilst playing on Veteran and Professional. The AI in this game is shocking. They cant revive, they dont heal or kill enemies, and most of the time they run out and get downed. Hopefully by now you have a feel for the missions and enemies and have some XP to spend on abilities and weapons. There's not really much else to say other than take it steady, communicate with your teammates and most importantly, don't be greedy. Share herbs, ammo, anti-viral sprays, etc. If you’ve only lost one square of health don’t use a full green herb if your teammates are on half health.
Difficulty levels do stack, so you can go ahead and play on Professional (skipping Veteran), but you need a lot of XP anyway so you could play both.
Step 3: S and S+ Ranking missions
This is where the cream of the Resident Evil players crop will prevail. You have to S rank all missions on any difficulty and also S+ rank all missions on Vet or Pro difficulty. There are many parameters that go into deciding what rank you receive such as items picked up (data, laptops), time, the number of deaths/downs, and number of kills. Each one changes for each mission. Unfortunately, it doesn’t tell you the parameters at the beginning of the mission, only at the end. So you will have to write down what the par requirements are if you don’t beat them first time around. It is easier to go for S+ Ranks in co-op than solo. Please see the achievement guide and Great Success for video guides, hints, tips, etc.
Step 4: Multiplayer
The fastest way to get all the Multiplayer achievements is to get a group of 5 together (yourself included) and just work your way them. All the achievements can be gained in Private Matches, so you wont have to worry about other players in your games. See the achievement guide on how to obtain them all.
Step 5: Mop Up, Weapons and Abilities.
Now just mop up any achievements you havn't gotten (like kill achievements, s-ranks, and so on). Most importantly, this is where you will go after that final amount of XP for all weapons and abilities. You can do this by playing campaign or the multiplayer. It's up to you which you choose as basically everything you play/do in the game earns you XP. See the achievement guide for a rough estimate on much XP is needed in order to purchase everything.
To make buying all the weapons and abilities faster and easier, save up enough XP to buy all the weapons (210,000 XP), buy them all but dont exit the character select menu, and when the achievement unlocks exit to the dashboard and start up the game again. You will still have all your XP when you start the game back up. Now do the same for the abilities, and you will have saved yourself quite a lot of time.
