Introduction:
Welcome to Smart Moves, a real-time puzzle game where you'll need to play your moves accordingly to make sure you get the jump on enemies and don't get killed by spikes. The basis for this game is that things, including enemies, only move when you move, and it's a grid-based system. It can be quite a challenging completion your first time through, but luckily for you, I've written up text solutions for every level in the game. Following them will allow you to complete the entire game with ease. Completing the entire game is actually required for this completion, unlike many other Xitilon games, but my solutions should make it pretty quick and painless to do. Let's get started.
Note on X1 versus Windows 10 versions:
Despite there being some differences between the two versions originally (when the Win 10 version released), those issues seem to have largely been fixed. The main one I saw was that in the Windows 10 version, enemies weren't dying when they moved to a square with spikes that were already fully out. If this was a bug, it has since been fixed, and enemies die as they should. As a result, every solution in this guide applies to both stacks of this game. Play testing of each solution was done by myself and two others across both versions of the game, and all solutions worked on both platforms (with the same degree of success, at least).
Note on Title Updates:
All title updates for this game include cumulative achievements that are less than the achievements in the base game. For example, there is a base game achievement for opening 99 chests, but title update achievements for opening 35, 40, 45, etc. As a result, if you haven't completed the base game yet, by the time you do complete it, you'll unlock every title update achievement along the way. If you have completed the base game and are just coming back for the title update achievements, you can grind them all out on a single level. For the achievements for opening chests, simply start from the very first level in the game, open two of the three chests, then restart the level and repeat over and over until all achievements for opening chests unlock. For the achievements for killing snakes, advance to the second level of the game and kill the first snake right next to you restart the level, and repeat until all achievements for killing snakes unlock. You'll be able to complete all title update achievements in 10 minutes total, maybe less.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As mentioned in the intro, this is a puzzle game whose completion requires that you complete every level in the game; there are a total of 80 levels. This could be quite challenging to solve them all on your own, especially the first time you play, not knowing tricks and tactics to use. However, I have saved you a lot of frustration and hassle by creating text solutions of every level in the game. You can follow these, hopefully without even needing to look at your TV screen, to complete every level with ease. That being said, there is an absolutely critical item you need to be aware of before you get started.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As you'll see in this game, when you move a square, enemies move and spikes move too. What you absolutely need to be aware of is that it is actually possible to move too fast and "outrun" spikes in this game. Spikes have three states: all the way in the ground, about to come out, and fully out. Spikes cycle between these states in order. However, if, for example, you move 5 spaces but do so very quickly, it's possible that spikes will only change states 4 times in the time it took you to move 5 times. It is therefore absolutely critical that you do NOT move too quickly when inputting these solutions, because if you go too fast and outrun spikes, you will go out of sync with them and the solutions will no longer work properly for that level. You don't need to go agonizingly slow (a medium speed is good), just don't mash a direction quickly and you'll be fine. This is ONLY applicable to spikes; you cannot accidentally outrun enemies, totems, etc., so don't worry about that.
SECOND NOTE: While I have done my best by testing out each solution myself three times, and having two others test each solution on both platforms, in some cases there is just unavoidable inconsistences: enemies, especially when in groups and farther away, don't like to move exactly the same every time. As a result, there are a bunch of levels where I have either provided more than one solution, or where I have made a note that you're going to have to just try the solution until it works. Thankfully, in this latter case, it's never taken my or my testers more than three attempts to get a solution to work, so it's not too horrible if you have bad luck. I've gone through a lot of effort to create this solutions, so please be patient in trying to get them to work. If you by chance come up with a different/better/more reliable solution, don't hesitate to reach out to me and I can add it to the guide.
By the time you complete every level in the game, you'll have unlocked all achievements in the base game and all achievements in all title updates.
Conclusion:
While it may not be a popular opinion, Smart Moves is actually a pretty decent puzzle game. Solving complicated levels is satisfying after a bit of trial and error. However, I'm sure you're all here for the quick and easy gamerscore, so hopefully my level solutions helped you knock out this completion quickly and relatively painlessly. Congrats on the huge boost to your gamerscore!
