Introduction:
Sniper Elite 4 is a third-person shooter developed by Rebellion. This game picks up after the events of Sniper Elite III and follows Lieutenant Karl Fairburne as he attempts to liberate war-torn Italy, with the help from the Italian Resistance, from the malevolent plans of Nazi General Heinz Böhm.

The game features 8 expansive non-linear missions, playable solo or online in two-player co-op, each with numerous objectives and collectibles. In addition, there are Overwatch missions, where two players work together to complete objectives, Survival mode, a horde-like game type where you have to fend off waves of enemies, and online competitive multiplayer with six game modes ranging from Deathmatch to Control.

The game also includes many cumulative achievements which require a lot of grinding, but a pop-up tracker has been provided to show your progression incrementally. Additional statistics, such as kills with certain weapons, collectibles you’ve obtained and distance you’ve shot can be viewed in the Service Record in the main menu.

“Save Game” Method:
A feature in Sniper Elite 4 is that the game saves progress towards achievements instantly. This means that you can save at a certain point in the game (for example, before completing an objective or destroying a pillbox), perform the action, then reload that save and do it all over again. Each time you perform the action, it saves. So if you want to grind out XP, save right before completing an objective, get a long distance kill, save right before the shot, and so on. This method is especially useful if you’ve completed all game modes but still have to make progress towards certain achievements (like distance, rifle kills, tagging, XP, etc.), so it is recommended that you do this for mopping up anything you have left.

Campaign (First Playthrough):
The campaign consists of 8 missions. These can be done either solo or online in two-player co-op. If playing in co-op, both players will get the mission completion and difficulty achievements. Everything else is specifically unlocked for the player who performs the action.

It is recommended that you do at least two playthroughs; one on a lower difficulty and one on Authentic difficulty. You should be obtaining all of the campaign collectibles and completing all of the optional objectives on a lower difficulty, whether it’s your first or subsequent playthrough. Your Authentic playthrough should only be for completing the primary objectives (see next step).

If you choose to collect and complete everything on your first playthrough, in addition to the 8 mission completion and 4 optional objective achievements, it’s possible you’ll also unlock 11 other achievements.

It is not necessary to play 100% stealth on a lower difficulty. Often enemies are unaware of your presence even when standing next to them. On the flip side, they can have extremely good accuracy with an MP-40 from 100 meters away. The important thing is you have fun.

Campaign (Authentic/Authentic Plus Playthrough):
In your previous playthrough(s), you should have unlocked all of the campaign-related achievements and obtained all of the campaign collectibles. For this playthrough, you should be playing on Authentic difficulty and just concentrate on completing the primary objectives for each mission. This difficulty is quite hard as it disables the HUD completely, objectives do not appear on the map or in the mission, enemies are stronger, you take more damage, there is no icon above tagged enemies, you can’t target focus, you can’t zoom with your scope or binoculars and there is considerable bullet drop and factoring wind. It is recommended that you play this with a co-op partner and stick together as much as possible. Play as stealthily as possible and try not to engage the enemy head on.

Depending on which difficulty you played on for your previous playthrough, completing the game on Authentic will unlock all other difficulty achievements plus “Are You Insane?” In addition, when you die, you can restart your checkpoint, so creating manual saves is rather unnecessary. You can always reload an auto save or just restart the checkpoint to continue. If you don’t create any manual saves, you will also unlock “The Best of the Best of the Best.”

Note: To avoid another playthrough, you may want to play on Authentic Plus instead. It is a harder playthrough than Authentic, but it will probably save you about 10-12 hours of play time. Refer to the 'Authentic Plus Title Update DLC' roadmap section below for more information.

Overwatch (Online):
There are two Overwatch missions that are only playable online in two-player co-op, either with a friend or in quickmatch. In each mission, one player is the Operative, who completes the objectives on the ground, and one player is the Sniper, who provides cover from above. Together they work to complete the primary objectives. Secondary objectives are optional as you do not need to complete them for an achievement, but in order to get the collectible achievements, you must obtain everything in these two missions. You can play these on any difficulty but playing on Cadet is all that is necessary. Successfully completing these two missions will unlock “Compounding Your Success” and “Train, Set and Match.”

Collectibles:
There are 322 collectibles in the game, but only 207 of them are required for achievements (you do not need the ‘Duty Reports’ or the ‘Misc Documents’). To collect everything, you need to play all 8 campaign missions plus both Overwatch missions (DLC collectibles do not count). Once you’ve collected everything, you will unlock “The Collector,” “A Bird in the Hand…” and “Greatest Hits.”

Multiplayer:
There are only two competitive multiplayer achievements. For the first one, “Competitive Nature”, all that is required is you play all six game modes to completion. For the second one, “Channel Changer”, you need to play the game mode ‘Control’ and take control of the radio with just a few seconds left on the timer. Both of these can be done in 1v1 private matches.

Survival:
There is only one Survival achievement, “Survival of the Fittest.” In this mode, you must survive an onslaught of increasingly difficult enemies and enemy vehicles. You are required to survive through Wave 12 (the final wave). It is recommended that you play this on Cadet with at least one online partner (you can have up to four players total) to make this easier, plus if you get downed, you can be revived; playing solo you can’t.

Mop Up:
One achievement you need to work on after your initial playthrough of a mission is “Challenge Accepted” for completing all five challenges in any mission (campaign or Overwatch). Challenges are not available to you the first time you play a mission. They range from using only your rifle in a mission, complete a mission in a certain amount of time, not destroying any vehicles in a mission and completing a mission without blowing your cover. Each mission completion achievement has a listing of the challenges available for that particular mission, so select one that seems easy to you. Completed challenges remain completed each time you play the mission, and completing all five in one mission will earn you this achievement.

For the remaining 10-15 cumulative achievements, you earn progress for all of them in every game mode listed above. If you are still in need of one or more of these achievements, select a mission and utilize the “Save Game” method. This game has more than its fair share of grindy achievements, but hopefully if you’ve played every mode you have made enough progress in them to mop everything up quickly.

Target Führer DLC

Introduction:
The Nazis plan to use their U-boats to cut off Allied supply lines in the Mediterranean. Thanks to an Allied informant, you’ve been briefed that the new base is located on the island of Sendori, north of Crete. You’ve been dispatched to Sendori to kill the Admiral in charge, this destroying the base’s command and control structure. But all is not what it seems…

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
This mission can be played solo or with a co-op partner.

Luckily this is a short mission and if you play on Cadet (Easy), each playthrough can be done in 20-30 minutes, depending on how efficient you are. Once you infiltrate the facility, you will learn that Hitler himself is visiting for an inspection. The primary objective is to kill Hitler and escape the facility.

There are 8 achievements for killing Hitler; six different ways, an explosive kill and just an old fashioned assassination. “Target Führer: 0 Days Without Incident” and “Deja View to a Kill” will unlock naturally when trying for the other kill achievements. A video by AFGuidesHD is provided along with a specific video for “Hot Pot” by Luku2000.

Then there are two optional objectives that you must complete for “Base Desires” and they must be completed in one playthrough (they don’t carry over). Once you complete the two objectives you must destroy the facility (not exfiltrate) to unlock the achievement.

In addition, there are five challenges you must complete for killing Hitler in a variety of ways for “Total War,” one of which you must locate a specific pistol and kill Hitler with it. These do carry over between playthroughs so once you’ve completed them you don’t have to again.

The remaining two achievements are to just complete the mission and to escape the facility (after killing Hitler) without being detected. You can reload checkpoints if you are detected.

‘Target Führer’ Conclusion:
It will take a little patience for Hitler to be in the correct location for specific kills achievements, but that’s the life of a sniper.

Deathstorm, Part 1: Inception DLC

Introduction:
The Alsos Mission, a covert unit tasked with uncovering Nazi atomic secrets, has intelligence the Germans are trying to move a critical package out of the country. Alsos need you to infiltrate the port at Rocca sul Mare, deep in Fascist-controlled northern Italy, in order to intercept and recover that package. Ending the naval blockade of the harbor would also be a major coup for the Allies…

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
This mission can be played solo or with a co-op partner. Since there is no difficulty achievement, it is recommended that you play on Cadet unless you want to challenge yourself.

‘Inception’ is the first of three parts to the mini-campaign called Deathstorm. The achievements are pretty straight forward, with “Karl Shot First” being the most difficult.

In your first playthrough of the mission, it is possible to unlock at least 5 of the 7 achievements. Whether you play stealthily or go loud, you will still have an opportunity to unlock all of these achievements. First, you need to neutralize an officer and dump his body overboard for “King of the World.” Next, track the tank around the map and destroy it with a cargo drop for “Heads Up.” Then, you need to obtain two keys and unlock a train car for “Save Keys to Open Doors.” Finally, you need to melee kill all four snipers on the map for “Knife to a Gun Fight” before completing the mission to unlock “Shore Leave.”

The next achievement to unlock will be “All Inclusion” for completing all five challenges. For one challenge, ‘Cool Runnings,’ it will need to be a playthrough itself as you need to complete the mission in less than 15 minutes. If you play on Cadet and sprint to each primary objective, you can finish in around 10 minutes. The other four challenges can be completed in a subsequent playthrough.

The final achievement for this mission is called “Karl Shot First”. To unlock it, you need to stealthily make your way from your insertion point in the northwest corner of the map to an objective in the eastern part of the map, all without alerting anyone. It is recommended that you make frequent manual saves so you can just reload it if you are seen.

‘Inception’ Conclusion:
The package you retrieved confirmed Alsos’ suspicions; the Nazis have begun developing atomic weapons capable of obliterating the Allied forces. Can they be stopped in time?

Deathstorm, Part 2: Infiltration DLC

Introduction:
The package you intercepted was marked ‘Deathstorm’ and contained deadly plutonium particles. The Alsos Mission know the package was dispatched to Dr. Antonello Galvani, and Italian atomic scientist being forced to work for the Nazis. To uncover the Nazi scheme, Alsos need you to infiltrate the University of Niroli, grab Galvani’s research and recover his cipher, and rescue his wife Veriana, an Allied informant.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
This mission can be played solo or with a co-op partner. Since there is no difficulty achievement, it is recommended that you play on Cadet unless you want to challenge yourself.

‘Infiltration’ is the second of three parts to the mini-campaign called Deathstorm. All of the achievements in this DLC aren’t too difficult and shouldn’t give you any issues if you play smartly.

In your first playthrough of the mission, it is possible to unlock at least 6 of the 7 achievements. Whether you play stealthily or go loud, you will still have an opportunity to unlock all of these achievements.

First, you need kill all the enemies on the island to the northeast (there’s only a few of them) with explosives for “Fish in a Barrel”. There are about 25 explosive barrels situated on the dock for your convenience. Next, infiltrate the lecture hall in the main university building and kill all five officers by dropping a chandelier on them for “Debriefed”. While you are in the main building, make your way to the library and destroy a door to get access to an underground passage. There you will find the Neunfaust. After you retrieve that, head to the southern part of the map to the ‘Summon Squad’ objective and complete the steps to unlock “Faust of Fury.” Then, you need to locate Lt. Osswald, the officer in charge of burning books, and shoot him through the eye for “Read This!”. Finally, if you’ve done all this while avoiding being shot by a sniper, “Untouchable” will unlock when you complete the mission to unlock “Cipher Elite.”

The final achievement to unlock will be “Full Marks” for completing all five challenges on your subsequent playthrough(s).

‘Infiltration’ Conclusion:
Contained in the music box were Dr. Galvani’s research notes which revealed that while the package intercepted in Rocca sul Mare were just particle samples, the Nazis are developing their weapon into a massive destructive force for the Allied troops during the Normandy landings. Will Karl be able to stop their diabolical plan in time?

Deathstorm, Part 3: Obliteration DLC

Introduction:
Dr. Galvani’s research has revealed the terrifying nature of Hitler’s ‘Deathstorm’ scheme and what it could mean for the planned Allied invasion of Europe. The Allies need you to travel to the small town of Steigerloch in Germany, locate the Nazis’ secret atomic reactor and put ‘Deathstorm’ out of action once and for all. The future of the Free World depends upon it…

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
This mission can be played solo or with a co-op partner. Since there is no difficulty achievement, it is recommended that you play on Cadet unless you want to challenge yourself.

‘Obliteration’ is the third and final part to the mini-campaign called Deathstorm. All of the achievements in this DLC aren’t too difficult and shouldn’t give you any issues if you play smartly.

In your first playthrough of the mission, you can potentially at least 4 of the 7 achievements. Whether you play stealthily or go loud, you will still have an opportunity to unlock these achievements.

First, you need to knock out, carry and hide three scientists at your extraction point for “I Love Science.” Next, during the mission, you cannot kill any of the five members of the Reiner family to unlock “Saving Private Reiner.” After you’ve sabotaged the reactor, make your way to the extraction point without firing a shot for “Fingers off Triggers.” If you’ve successfully completed the requirements for those three achievements, when you complete the mission, those and “Storm Chaser” will unlock.

For “Overkill,” you need to kill all 11 snipers with explosives. You can get this while attempting “Ghost Town” but this cannot be paired with “Fingers off Triggers” because 4 of the 11 snipers appear after you’ve sabotaged the reactor.

The next achievement for this mission is called “Ghost Town.” For this one, you need to kill everyone and everything on the map; all infantry, snipers and armored vehicles (even if there is no one in them). When you leave the bunker after completing the primary objectives, you will need to kill all of the reinforcements, too. Note that this cannot be paired with “Fingers off Triggers” or “Saving Private Reiner.” Refer to those individual achievements for explanations.

Finally, “Atomic” will unlock for completing all five challenges on your subsequent playthrough(s). Please note that the ‘Subsonic’ challenge cannot be completed if you are going for the “I Love Science” achievement since you can only kill enemies to complete that challenge; knocking someone out voids the challenge.

‘Obliteration’ Conclusion:
With Professor Wilhelm Bosch dead and the ‘Deathstorm’ programme destroyed, the liberation of Europe can proceed as planned!

Authentic Plus Title Update DLC

Introduction:
With this title update, you will find a new definition of pain and suffering. Authentic Plus is an unforgiving difficulty. There are no checkpoints or auto-saves, so if you happen to die, and you will, you have to start the current mission over again. On top of that, there are no detection notifications and enemies do not call of their searches until either you or they are dead. Simply brutal. It is recommended that you not attempt this difficulty as your first (or even second) playthrough.

Playing in co-op helps to alleviate the burden of dying too often as you can revive downed teammates, but you still need to be extremely careful; if both of you are killed, you need to restart.

In addition to this new difficulty, this title update raises the level cap from 50 to 250 and you can now select a reticule for your rifle’s scope.

‘Authentic Plus’ Playthrough:
Along with all the detriments of Authentic difficulty, on this difficulty, there are also no checkpoints or auto-saves. Enemies are even stronger than before and when you are detected, and you will be detected, there is no notification. Searches are no longer called off after a few minutes; whether you are fully detected or they just heard a strange noise, they will continue to search for you until one of you are dead.

There are also no on-screen notifications for sound masking, some button prompts, item/ammo pickups or kills. You are truly blind throughout the entire mission. Lastly, item pickups (ammo and medkits especially) are much scarcer than on the lower difficulties, even when looting bodies. Use them sparingly.

Play each mission smartly; silent and hidden. Attempt only primary objectives and if you are detected, there is no cowardice in retreating. Often times you will have to hunker down and deal with numerous enemies coming at you at once. Make sure as you are playing each mission that you do not create a manual save at all. When you complete all 8 missions, both “You know you're REALLY insane, right?” and “Better than the Best” will unlock.

Note: There is actually only one checkpoint on this difficulty. It comes at the very end of the game. Avoiding spoilers, immediately after you activate a radio and watch/skip the cutscene, there is an autosave as you make your way to the final objective.

‘Title Update’ Conclusion:
This is truly a realistic experience. This update is the hardest of the hard. It’s going to take a lot of patience to complete this. Use cover constantly, be precise and be aware of your surroundings. One stray bullet and you’ll have to start the mission all over again.

Overall Conclusion:
Sniper Elite 4 sees the return to World War II and is an enjoyable game. With the exception of the higher difficulties, every achievement is attainable without too much trouble, although some are rather grindy. The collectibles are a bit tedious as you basically have to kill everyone in the mission to find everything. And with just a few achievements outside of the campaign/Overwatch, those can be unlocked quite easily and quickly. Congratulations!

    (2)

There are three types of weapons that can be mastered; rifle, secondary weapon and pistol. Earning a mastery with any one of these weapons in any of these types will unlock the achievement.

To earn a mastery, you must complete three upgrades before you can perform the mastery upgrade. Each weapon has different upgrades and all require killing enemies in a variety of ways. To see what upgrades are for each weapon, highlight the weapon type in your loadout and press to view a list of all the weapons of that type (purchased or otherwise). Scroll through them, highlight the desired weapon and press (Skins/Upgrades). On the next screen, press to select Upgrades and it will show you what the upgrades are and your progress towards each one.

For example, for the Springfield rifle, you must perform 30 sound masked kills, 50 shoulder-aimed kills and 20 kills over 200 meters before the mastery upgrade unlocks, which is to kill 20 enemies with a heart shot.

As you will see, most upgrades require you to grind out kills over and over again. You can use the save game feature and keep reloading or unlock them naturally through playing the game.

Once you’ve completed all four upgrades for any weapon, you will have mastered it and the achievement will unlock.

  • 100 Kills with a Pistol

The pistol is an often forgotten weapon but can be very useful in tight situations. To unlock this achievement you need to cumulatively kill 100 enemies with any combination of the pistols listed below throughout all game modes.

To check your progress, press then navigate to Service Record > Statistics > Kills and look under the ‘Weapon Kills’ heading look for ‘Total Pistol.’

Note: This will unlock whether you use regular ammo or suppressed ammo. The latter can be purchased from the loadout screen for $2 and be assigned to your loadout.

    • Welrod
    • Webley MKVI
    • Army Pistol 38 (AP 38)
    • Luger P08
    • M1911
    • M1934
  • 250 Kills with a Secondary Weapon

Your secondary weapon is a machine gun (although the Trench Gun is considered secondary as well) and is mainly used in situations where a rifle is not suitable. They do not use suppressed ammo so they are loud and enemies will be alerted to the sound. To unlock this achievement you need to cumulatively kill 250 enemies with any combination of the secondary weapons listed below throughout all game modes.

To check your progress, press then navigate to Service Record > Statistics > Kills and look under the ‘Weapon Kills’ heading look for ‘Total Secondary’.

    • Trench Gun (Shotgun)
    • FG 42
    • Panzerfaust 60
  • 500 Kills with a Rifle

Your rifle is the main weapon of a sniper. They come in different varieties (bolt-action vs. semi-automatic) and have different attributes. To unlock this achievement you need to cumulatively kill 500 enemies with any combination of the rifles listed below throughout all game modes.

To check your progress, press then navigate to Service Record > Statistics > Kills and look under the ‘Weapon Kills’ heading look for ‘Total Rifle.’

Note: This will unlock whether you use regular ammo or suppressed ammo. The latter can be purchased from the loadout screen for $4 and be assigned to your loadout.

    Bolt-Action:

    • M1903 Springfield
    • Mosin-Nagant M91/30
    • Mannlicher M1895
    • Lee-Enfield No. 4
    • Karabiner 98K (KAR98K)

    Semi-Automatic:

    • Gewehr 43 (G43)
    • Carcano M91/41
  • Fully Target Focus 100 times

    (2)

To focus on a target, when you tag an enemy or object using your binoculars (pushing down then pressing ), there will be a symbol above it. A white circle will form around the symbol. Once the circle is complete, it will count as a target focus, giving you information about the enemy/object. Do this 100 times to unlock the achievement.

This not tracked in your Service Record nor via the achievement tracker. Every so often tracking will pop up in the bottom right corner of the screen telling you how many you’ve done.

If you want this out of the way quickly, a good place to farm this is at the beginning of Mission 1, ‘San Celini Island.’ When you’ve climbed up into the tower and are overlooking the landscape, there is about 20-25 enemies/objects you can tag. Make a manual save before you start tagging then proceed to tag everything you see. When you’re satisfied, reload your save and repeat. Keep doing this procedure until the achievement unlocks.

  • Complete 50% of all Secondary Objectives in the Main Campaign

Refer to “Following Orders” for more information.

  • Complete all Secondary Objectives in the Main Campaign

    (3)

At the start of every mission (except Mission 1 and 8), you begin in a safe zone populated by Resistance and Partisan members. Speaking to them will give you backgrounds to their characters, information about the mission and optional (secondary) objectives to complete. In some missions, there is also a radio where you can call ‘Mother Hen’ and get additional optional objectives to complete.

After you’ve spoken to everyone, you can begin the mission (it is not actually necessary to speak to anyone to start the mission [the objectives appear anyway]; it just adds some interactivity). If you press to view the map, it will show you all of the objectives available to you. Optional objectives will be marked by either a question mark or diamond in a circle and primary objectives are marked by a star in a circle. Pressing while looking at the map will list all your objectives (both primary and optional).

To unlock this achievement, you must complete all optional objectives in all 8 campaign missions. If you play a mission and only complete one or two optional objectives, you can select that mission again and anything you have completed will stay completed. It is recommended that you complete these on the Cadet or Marksman difficulty as doing them on anything higher might be troublesome.

Refer to the individual mission completion achievements for a list of all optional objectives.

Note: Even though there are optional objectives in both Overwatch missions and all the DLCs, completing them does not count towards this achievement.

  • Total kill distance of 100 Kilometers

    (1)

The game measures distance in meters, so 100 kilometers is 100,000 meters. This is cumulative and counts for all game modes. This will probably unlock naturally as you play the game. To check your progress, press then navigate to Service Record > Statistics > General and look for ‘Total Kill Shot Distance.’

If you’re anxious to get this out of the way, a good place to farm distance is at the beginning of Mission 3, ‘Regilino Viaduct’. After you’ve spoken to the people in the camp, walk over to the wooden overlook and start the mission. When the mission begins, stay on the overlook (don’t climb down) and you will see a railway bridge in the distance. Using your binoculars, you will see about five or six enemies to tag, all over 550 meters away. After you’ve tagged them, make a manual save. Back in the game, proceed to kill each enemy, then reload your save and repeat. You’ll get between 3000-3500 meters per reload and each opportunity will take about a minute (depending on your precision). Keep repeating this procedure until the achievement unlocks.

  • Kill 100 enemies with traps

Trip Mines, S-Mines and Teller Mines are considered traps. Just set one of these traps and wait for an enemy to walk into it. Do this 100 times in any game mode to unlock the achievement.

A good method to get this out of the way is to make a manual save just before an enemy is killed by your trap. Once they are, just reload that save and keep repeating until the achievement has unlocked.

  • Complete the entire main campaign on Authentic difficulty

    (1)

This is story related and cannot be missed. Authentic difficulty is available right from the start. It is recommended that you do all your collectibles and optional objectives on a lower difficulty for reasons listed below.

Note: This difficulty is not recommended for your first playthrough. It is suggested playing through the missions multiple times until you feel comfortable where everything is and how enemies react.

Authentic difficulty is Sniper Elite difficulty on steroids. It is extremely unforgiving, so play as stealthily as possible and try not to engage the enemy head on. Use your suppressed ammo and sound masking whenever possible and kill only when you have to (enemies are more aware and will react to discovered bodies more aggressively). If you do kill and have the opportunity, throw the body over a cliff or hide it in foliage.

Be especially wary of snipers as they are often not seen until it’s too late. If you get shot by one without knowing where it is, chances are you’ll be killed.

If playing with a co-op partner, try sticking together as much as possible and watch each other’s backs. Communicate with each other at all times.

    Authentic difficulty features:

    • No HUD (ammo, health, stamina)
    • No radar/minimap
    • Objectives do not appear on the map or in the mission (they are still listed when you press in the map)
    • Enemies are stronger and more aggressive, take more damage, do not show up on map
    • You take more damage
    • While you can still tag (to see enemy distance and information), there is no icon above tagged enemies or objects
    • No empty lung or aim assist (pressing holds your breath and steadies your aim but it does not zoom in, give you a reticle or give you a lung meter)
    • No zooming with scope or binoculars
    • Iron sights reticule doesn't turn red when you are close enough
    • Realistic bullet drop and crosswinds (you can still use and to adjust the range of your scope)
    • When playing co-op, friendly fire is on (take damage when shot by teammate)

Luckily, if and when you die, you have the option to restart the checkpoint. Checkpoints are quite generous on this difficulty. In Sniper Elite III, when you died, it was necessary to start the mission over again when playing on this difficulty as there were no checkpoints or manual saving. And while you have the ability to create manual saves in this game, if you do, you will void the achievement “The Best of the Best of the Best.” The game auto saves at regular intervals so you can load one of them as well.

Completing the game on Authentic unlocks the achievements for all other difficulties below it (that are still locked).

  • Complete the entire main campaign on Sniper Elite difficulty

This is story related and cannot be missed. This achievement is stackable is you play on a higher difficulty first. Refer to "Are You Insane?" for more information.

This difficulty is more difficult than Marksman; friendly fire is on (you get hurt if your co-op partner shoots you), you take even more damage when shot and enemy AI is very smart, more aggressive, stay alert longer and even harder to kill than on the lower difficulties. Also, there is considerable bullet drop, so use and to adjust the range of your scope to the distance of the target. Crosswinds play an even bigger factor on this difficulty so aim to the left or right to account for wind (wind gauge is above your crosshairs).

It is recommended that you play as stealthily as possible, use suppressed ammo and sound masking and only kill when required.

  • Complete the entire main campaign on Marksman difficulty

This is story related and cannot be missed. This achievement is stackable is you play on a higher difficulty first. Refer to "Are You Insane?" for more information.

This difficulty is more difficult than Cadet; you take more damage when shot and enemy AI is smarter, more aggressive and harder to kill. Also, there is slight bullet drop, so use and to adjust the range of your scope to the distance of the target. Crosswinds play a factor as well so aim slightly to the left or right to account for wind (wind gauge is above your crosshairs).

  • Complete the entire main campaign on Cadet difficulty

This is story related and cannot be missed. This achievement is stackable is you play on a higher difficulty first. Refer to "Are You Insane?" for more information.

    Cadet difficulty features:

    • Full HUD
    • Objectives show on your map and in the mission
    • Your position is marked on the map
    • Enemy AI is least aggressive but still formidable
    • Take minimal damage (but still be careful)
    • Full tagging abilities
    • Empty lung and aim assist capabilities
    • You can zoom with scope and binoculars
    • No bullet drop or crosswinds
  • Incapacitate an enemy, then shoot them in the testicles

    (3)

To incapacitate an enemy, you need to shoot them in a non-vital area of the body (for example, the foot) and have them fall down, writhing in pain. The Welrod generally works best for this as it is not very powerful and often takes more than one shot to kill an enemy if not aiming at the head. Once they are on the ground, switch to your rifle and focus at their groin. Shoot them and chances are it will be a testicle shot (but is possible it will be a kidney or intestine shot, or sometimes it will count as a general infantry kill).

This works on any difficulty. You can do this on any enemy in the game, but it might be easier if you wait until you are further into the campaign as they are stronger and have more health so are not prone to dying so quickly.

It is recommended that when you incapacitate an enemy, before performing the kill shot, make a manual save just in case your shot is not a testicle shot. This will provide you with limitless opportunities to get the correct kill.

Note: It does not have to show the x-ray killcam for the achievement to unlock so long as it’s a specific testicle shot.

  • Get at least one killshot on every organ

    (4)

    There are nine organs:

    • Head
    • Eye
    • Heart
    • Liver
    • Lungs
    • Stomach
    • Intestines
    • Kidney
    • Testicles

When zooming in on an enemy, holding to hold your breath and steady your aim will make shooting a specific area easier. This is obviously easier on a lower difficulty and on enemies that are standing still as opposed to walking.

This will likely unlock naturally while playing through the different game modes, but if you want to get this out of the way sooner, find an easy unsuspecting target in the campaign and make a manual save. Then proceed to shoot him in every location listed above, reloading after each successful shot. Getting shots in specific organs might take some trial and error, as shooting someone in the stomach might trigger an intestine shot, and vice versa.

To check your progress, press then navigate to Service Record > Statistics > Kills and look under the ‘Hit Locations.’

  • Kill an enemy via a booby trap

    (3)

Note: You can only unlock this if you’ve either found or purchased (and assigned into your loadout) Teller Mines or S-Mines.

When you kill an enemy, you have the option to plant a booby trap on the body for someone else to discover. After you’ve killed someone, open the inventory wheel () and select a mine. Walk over to the dead body and you now have the option to plant it on the body. Hold to set the trap.

To get someone else to discover the body, you can do one of two things. First, if someone is nearby, you can throw rocks to get their attention and lure them into discovering the body, or second, you can pick up the dead body and carry it to where other enemies are patrolling, drop/throw the body and hide. You can then either wait for them to naturally discover the body or you can again throw rocks to lure them closer.

Once they walk over to investigate and stand next to the body, they will be killed by the booby trap and the achievement will unlock.

  • Satchel Charge 25 manned vehicles/pillboxes/pantherturms

    (1)

What makes this achievement simple is that you can make a manual save once you’ve planted a satchel charge and then keep reloading that save to unlock this quickly. There are many opportunities to get this throughout the campaign, but the best locations are in Mission 4, ‘Lorino Dockyard’.

    • There is a pillbox near the beginning of the mission to the southeast of your start point. Make your way down the incline to the right and across the dirt road is the pillbox. Place the satchel charge by holding , save your game then set the timer by holding . When the pillbox has been destroyed, reload your save and repeat as necessary.

    • In the northeast section of the map, there are five unmanned targets in close proximity to each other (two tanks and three AB41 armored vehicles). Before you destroy the first vehicle, save your game. Then proceed to place satchel charges on each vehicle, setting the timer after placing. Once you’ve destroyed the fifth vehicle, reload your save and repeat as necessary.

It has been discovered that if a pantherturm or vehicle has someone alive in them, you cannot place a satchel charge. Whether this is a glitch or not is unknown. So despite the description saying “manned,” it has been confirmed you can do this on unmanned targets.

Thanks to moomootrophy for the video:

  • Kill 5 enemies with a single artillery strike

    (5)

There are only a couple of opportunities to unlock this in the campaign, the most guaranteed being in Mission 6, ‘Magazzeno Facility.’

First, you need to kill and loot a Spotter because they carry a flare gun which is necessary for this achievement. There are two in this mission:

    • From when you first enter the compound, across the dirt road and to the left near some buildings is a Spotter.
    • In the southwest corner of the map, there is a Spotter patrolling a parapet.

When you’ve located one of them, identify him with your binoculars, make your way towards him and kill him. Loot his body to pick up the flare gun.

Later on in the mission, you have to disable a radar dish along the western part of the map. In this area are 5-7 enemies close together. Climb up the pipes and approach this area without being seen or heard or else they will be alerted.

It is recommended that you make a manual save at this point in case you don’t kill five enemies with the artillery strike. Open your inventory wheel () and select your flare gun (you can either select ‘Targeted’ for a more direct shot or ‘Distributed’ for a wider dispersal). Hold to place the target and release to shoot. The enemies will fall to the ground and cover their heads thinking they are safe. A few seconds later they will be bombarded with an artillery strike. If you’ve killed 5+ enemies, the achievement will unlock.

Thanks to VGFAQ for the video:

  • Kill 5 Snipers before they see you

    (1)

Knowing where a sniper is located is the key to unlocking this achievement. Otherwise, they will most likely see you before you see them in every situation.

This can be unlocked as early as Mission 2, ‘Bitanti Village’. One of your optional objectives from the start is to locate and kill the sniper. He is in a tower on the eastern part of the map (shown in the image below).

When you start the mission, there are two patrolling enemies directly in front of you. Take them out silently and in that same location, while crouched, look to the northeast with your binoculars and you will see a sniper approximately 250 meters away. At that distance, with you crouched, it's most likely he can’t see you. Tag him, put your binoculars away and make a manual save. When you’re back in the game, proceed to kill him when you have the opportunity (he moves around).

Once that’s done, just reload your save until the achievement unlocks. Killing this sniper will count towards the progress of “Gotta Cap 'em All” since this the first sniper you encounter in the game.

Note: If the sniper does happen to turn in your direction and sees you (‘Player Sighted’ will appear next to your compass), just reload the save. If you see the glare of his scope but he hasn’t seen you, wait for him to look away before you shoot.

The sniper drops a Sniper Report which is needed to complete the optional objective. It also counts towards “Greatest Hits.”

  • Complete all Mother Hen missions in the main game

Before you start each mission, there is a radio at base camp you can interact with and speak to ‘Mother Hen’ who will give you optional objectives for your mission. For this achievement, you must complete all of the Mother Hen optional objectives throughout the campaign. There are six optional objectives total (none in Missions 1, 5 and 8).

If you’ve completed all the optional objectives up to this point, this will unlock when you’ve completed the objective ‘The Nazi Propaganda Machine’ in Mission 7, ‘Giovi Fiorini Mansion’. Refer to “Following Orders” for more information.

  • Complete all OSS Secondary Objectives in the Main Campaign

Before you start each mission, there is a man at base camp who is named Weaver that you can speak with who will give you optional objectives for your mission. For this achievement, you must complete all of the OSS optional objectives throughout the campaign (Weaver also assigns you with primary objectives which do not count for this achievement). There are four optional objectives total (none in Missions 1, 2, 4, 7 and 8).

If you’ve completed all the optional objectives up to this point, this will unlock when you’ve completed the objectives ‘Enigma Variations’ and ‘Crack the Code-Breakers’ in Mission 6, ‘Magazzeno Facility.’ Refer to “Following Orders” for more information.

  • Complete all challenges in a single mission.

    (1)

There are five challenges in each mission, ranging from not using Empty Lung, killing a certain amount of enemies, using sound-masking to kill and only using melee to kill enemies. Some are difficult, some are easy. Look over the lists in the individual mission completion achievements and select which a mission you think would be suitable for you.

In order to complete the challenges, you need to have played through the mission once before; you cannot complete them in your first playthrough of the mission. However, once you complete a challenge, it saves automatically so you do not have to complete it again. It is very possible that when you replay missions you’ll complete some of these without even trying. It is recommended that you try to complete these on a lower difficulty.

Completing all five the challenges in any of the 8 campaign missions or 2 Overwatch missions will unlock this achievement.

  • Get a kill with every weapon.

    (3)

For this achievement, you need to get at least one kill with each of the weapons listed below. This list does not include DLC weapons as they are not required. Once you get a kill with a weapon, it saves automatically. You must kill an enemy cleanly, not destroy a truck it is sitting in, shoot an environmental explosive or even shoot the grenade on their belt; they must be killed by your bullet.

Although the Shotgun, Panzerfaust and FG 42 are listed separately in your Statistics, other individual weapons are not (only the weapon type is kept track of). It is best to keep track of these weapon kills manually so you know which ones you’ve done.

Note: All of these weapons do not have to be purchased to get a kill with them. They can also be picked up from weapon caches and looted from dead enemies.

    Rifles

    • M1903 Springfield
    • Mosin-Nagant M91/30
    • Mannlicher M1895
    • Lee-Enfield No. 4
      • This can't be purchased; unlocked to use in your loadout by winning the Church battle in Mission 2 and the battle for the Watermill in Mission 7
      • Found in Mission 4 in the German armory (‘Hello to Arms’ optional objective)
      • Found near the end of Mission 8 in the Radio Room (‘Call in the Bombers’ primary objective)
    • Karabiner 98K (KAR98K)
    • Gewehr 43 (G43)
    • Carcano M91/41

    Secondary Weapons

    • Thompson
    • MP 40
    • MKB 42
    • MAB 38
    • FNAB-43
    • Trench Gun (Shotgun)
      • This can't be purchased; unlocked to use in your loadout by finding it and killing a sniper with it
      • Found in weapon caches and lying around throughout the missions (earliest in campaign is Mission 2 in the basement Partisan HQ)
    • FG 42
      • This can’t be purchased; found in weapon caches and lying around throughout the missions
      • Looted from Support Jäger troops throughout all game modes (earliest in campaign is Mission 4)
    • Panzerfaust 60
      • This can’t be purchased; found in weapon caches and lying around throughout the missions (found in the German armory in Mission 4 [‘Hello to Arms’ optional objective])
      • Looted from Faust Troopers throughout all game modes (earliest in campaign is Mission 6)

    Pistols

    • Welrod
    • Webley MKVI
    • Army Pistol 38 (AP 38)
    • Luger P08
    • M1911
    • M1934
  • Kill 100 enemies with suppressed ammo

    (1)

This is a cumulative achievement. Rifles and pistols can be equipped with suppressed ammo, either by finding it within a mission or purchasing it in your loadout and assigning it. To select suppressed ammo for your weapon, open your inventory wheel with , rotate to your weapon and press to select suppressed ammo (if you have it). To unlock this achievement you need to kill 100 enemies with any combination of these two weapons throughout all game modes.

To check your progress, press then navigate to Service Record > Statistics > Kills and look under the ‘Weapon Kills’ heading look for ‘Rifle (Suppressed)’ and/or ‘Pistol (Suppressed).’

  • Complete a single player mission without using a Medikit or Bandage

    (2)

It is possible that you’ll unlock this without even trying. It is recommended that you do this on Cadet difficulty as playing on a higher difficulty would just make more work for yourself.

The trick to this achievement is to try and stay in cover and not to engage the enemy directly so you don’t get injured. Use sound masking wherever possible and your suppressed ammo when you can’t so you don’t give up your position. If you think it will cause issues, stay away from optional objectives as they will just make the mission longer. If you’ve been injured, it would be best to expose yourself to be killed so you can restart the checkpoint at full health. As long as you don’t use any bandages or medkits, the achievement will still unlock.

Mission 2, ‘Bitanti Village’ is probably the shortest mission if you bypass the optional objectives but feel free to choose any mission that you are comfortable with.

  • Kill 3 enemies with environmental drop kills

    (1)

This is a simple achievement that can be earned at the beginning of the first mission, ‘San Celini Island.’ At the start of the mission, you will climb up a pole and melee kill an enemy from below. When you reach the top, there will be a tutorial about using your binoculars and tagging enemies. In the distance, you will see two enemies standing below a suspended cannon cargo drop held up by a glowing red crane pulley. Tag the two enemies and the pulley, take out your rifle and shoot the pulley. The cannon will drop, killing the two enemies.

Restart the level and perform this action once more and the achievement will unlock.

  • Complete a main campaign mission with rifle kills only

    (3)

This is a straight-forward achievement; use only your rifle in any campaign mission to kill enemies. You cannot use your secondary weapon or pistol, any type of explosive in your inventory (grenades, mines, TNT), any environmental kill (explosive, suspended object) or melee to kill enemies. All kills must be performed with your rifle.

Mission 2, ‘Bitanti Village’ is probably the shortest mission if you bypass the optional objectives but feel free to choose any mission that you are comfortable with and remember to only kill with your rifle.

  • Collect all Last Letters, Letters From Home, and Letters To Home in the main game

    (7)

This is an online achievement; the reason being is that there are collectibles you have to obtain in the two Overwatch missions (which can only be played online in two-player co-op). There are a total of 322 collectibles in the game, spread across all 8 campaign missions and the 2 Overwatch missions, but only 207 of them are required for achievements.

Most of the Letters and Sniper Reports can only be found by looting dead bodies. If you tag an enemy while they’re still alive, it will tell you if they’re holding a collectible or not. The collectibles are saved immediately after picking them up, so if you happen to die, you still have the collectible.

Note: When playing in co-op, if one player picks up the collectible, it counts for both.

    • 40 Duty Rosters (not required for any achievement)
    • 75 Misc. Documents (not required for any achievement)
    • 50 Last Letters
    • 50 Letters from Home
    • 50 Letters to Home
    • 30 Stone Eagles (Deadeye Targets)
    • 27 Sniper Reports

Note: Any collectible picked up in any of the DLCs does not count towards the total; they only count if collected in the campaign and Overwatch.

To check your progress, press then navigate to Service Record > Collectibles then select the mission.

360GameTV has been kind enough to post videos to show where each collectible is. Please note that the ‘Duty Rosters’ and ‘Misc. Documents’ are not required for any collectible achievement but are shown in the videos nonetheless.

Sniper Elite 4 Collectibles Guide (All Letters, Eagles, Documents, Reports, Rosters) by 360GameTV

  • Fully master a rifle, secondary weapon and pistol

This achievement is similar to “A Most Singular Expert” with the exception that you have to master all three weapon types, not just one.

To earn a mastery for a single weapon, you must complete three upgrades before you can perform the mastery upgrade. Each weapon has different upgrade requirements and all involve killing enemies in a variety of ways.

As you will see, most upgrades require you to grind out kills over and over again. You can use the save game feature and keep reloading or unlock them naturally through playing the game.

Once you’ve completed all four upgrades for any weapon, you will have mastered it (unlocking “A Most Singular Expert”). Repeat this for the two other weapon types and the achievement will unlock.

  • Shoot all Stone eagles

    (3)

This is an online achievement; the reason being is that there are collectibles you have to obtain in the two Overwatch missions (which can only be played online in two-player co-op). There are 30 Stone Eagles to shoot in the game. Refer to “The Collector” for more information.

  • Find all Sniper Reports

    (2)

This is an online achievement; the reason being is that there are collectibles you have to obtain in the two Overwatch missions (which can only be played online in two-player co-op). There are 27 Sniper Reports to collect in the game. Refer to “The Collector” for more information.

  • Reach character rank 5

Refer to "Veteran" for more information.

  • Reach character rank 25

Refer to "Veteran" for more information.

  • Reach character rank 50

To reach Rank 50, you need 1,000,000 XP. You earn it by completing objectives and killing enemies in a variety of ways (organ shots, high ground, empty lung, sound masked, ghost, etc.). XP is acquired throughout all game modes.

Ranking up will come with natural progression, just as it does for all the cumulative achievements. By the time you’ve completed the campaign the first time, you should only be around Rank 15-20 (depending on if you played solo or in co-op). Playing the campaign again on Authentic difficulty and only completing the primary objectives (as recommended) will yield less XP than the first time, but you should still get a fair amount.

You can keep playing campaign missions over and over again (higher difficulties do not give you more XP per kill/objective) or play the other game modes (which you will have to do if you want to maximize your gamerscore in this game). When you’ve finished with Overwatch, Survival and competitive multiplayer, you should be roughly around Rank 30, give or take.

A good way to grind out the remaining XP you need is to use the “Save Game” method. Completing each optional objective gives you 1000XP and each primary objective gives you 1500-2000XP (or more; the final primary objective in Mission 2, ‘Bitanti Village’, rewards you with 3000XP). The best way to rank up is to save your game just before you complete a primary objective. Complete the objective, wait for the XP to register on screen then reload your save. The XP earned is instantly saved so you don’t lose it with each reload. Keep repeating this as long as you need to get to Rank 50.

  • Kill one of each infantry type.

There are eight types of enemies. You need to kill at least one of every type to unlock this achievement.

    • Infantry - First found in Mission 1
    • Officer - First found in Mission 1 (there are four of them to kill as one of your primary objectives)
    • Sniper - First found in Mission 2 (killing him will complete the optional objective ‘The Towering Assassin’)
    • Radio Operator - First found in Mission 2 (killing him will complete the optional objective ‘Signal Advantage’)
    • Jäger - First found in Mission 3 (found investigating the downed plane, also by the western checkpoint objective)
    • Spotter - First found in Mission 3 (found in an encampment just south of the Nazi Transport Depot [objective in the northern part of the map])
    • Support Jäger - First found in Mission 4 (in the area of the warehouse by the docks [within the ‘Locate Shipments’ objective])
    • Faust Trooper - First found in Mission 6 (in the first area of the mission)

To check your progress, press then navigate to Service Record > Statistics > Kills and look under the ‘Infantry Kills.’

  • Complete all waves in a survival session.

    (2)

This achievement can be done solo or with others (up to four people total). There are 12 waves in Survival. It is your basic horde-type mode where you must survive until all 12 waves have been completed. You can play on any difficulty, but if you’re just out for the achievement, playing on Cadet is the way to go as it offers the least challenge.

    Notes about Survival:

    • If playing with others, you can go into a “down by not out” state and be revived by your teammates. If you play solo, once you go down it’s over.
    • There is a supply cache that, if successfully defended, you gain extra XP. The enemies’ main objective is to destroy that cache. It is recommended that you do not let the enemy capture the supply cache as it provides you and your teammates with unlimited basic ammo, but does not supply you with anything else, such as medkits, mines, grenades or Panzer ammo. It in a different location every third wave of enemies: Wave 1, 4, 7 and 10. If it is captured, it stays captured until it moves location.
    • Also, every few waves there is a vehicle (tank or other armored vehicle). Depending on what difficulty you play on will determine how many vehicles appear. These must be destroyed in order for the wave to end.
  • Complete at least one match in each mode.

This is an online achievement. There are six modes you must play and complete in order to unlock this achievement:

    • Team Deathmatch (50 kill limit/20 minutes) - team based; kill the opposing team
    • Deathmatch (25 kill limit/20 minutes) - free-for-all; kill anyone
    • Team Distance King (5000 score limit/20 minutes) - team based; kill the opposing team, the distance at which you kill someone is your score for that kill (50 meters = 50 points towards 5000)
    • Distance King (3000 score limit/20 minutes) - free-for-all; the distance at which you kill someone is your score for that kill (50 meters = 50 points towards 3000)
    • No Cross (no score limit/20 minutes [10 minutes each side]) - team based; there is an impassible area in the middle of the map, kill the opposing team
    • Control (4 capture limit/20 minutes) - team based; teams fight for control of a radio drop

This can be unlocked in both public matches or in private matches with one other person.

Title Update Notes: Since release there have been numerous title updates that have added additional multiplayer game modes. It has been confirmed that they are not required for this achievement to unlock. Only the original six game modes listed are needed.

  • Take control of the enemy held radio and capture it with just seconds remaining.

This is an online achievement. This achievement is earned in the multiplayer mode ‘Control’. In this team based mode, teams fight for control of a radio (similar to ‘Headquarters’ in Call of Duty). When a team captures a radio, a circle starts to close, and once it is closed completely, that team gets one point. The radio then respawns in a different location. Once one team gets four points/captures or the 20 minute timer expires, the game is over.

To capture a radio, stand next to it and hold for two seconds. For this achievement, you must break the enemy capture with just a few seconds remaining, which means the circle must be almost fully complete. The image below shows about how much of the circle should be left before you need to break the capture. When there is at about that much of the circle left, the team not in control stands next to the radio and holds for two seconds to break the capture. If done correctly, the achievement will unlock. If there wasn’t enough time to break the capture and the original team captures the radio, just try again at the next location.

This can be unlocked in both public matches or in private matches with one other person (which is recommended).

  • Complete the entire main campaign on Authentic difficulty with no manual saves.

Along with completing the game on Authentic difficulty, for this achievement you are not allowed to create any manual saves at any time. This might prove difficult but when you die (and you will), you can select to restart your checkpoint or load an auto-save. Restarting your checkpoint affords you another opportunity to try a different strategy for completing the current task at hand. As long as you remember to not create any manual saves during your Authentic playthrough this will unlock when you’ve completed the game.

Refer to “Are You Insane?” for more information and tips on completing the game on this difficulty.

Secret achievements

  • Destroy the plane using a Bolt-Action Rifle

    (4)

This achievement is unlocked at the end of Mission 8, ‘Allagra Fortress’. During the final part of the mission, General Böhm will be escaping in a plane. Instead of shooting the engines of the plane while it is on the landing strip, wait for it to take off. The pilot will circle around as the General orders the missile hatch be opened.

To unlock this, you need to shoot the missile. Targeting it is simple as the plane is flying in a straight line towards you. Shoot it with a bolt-action rifle to destroy the plane and the achievement will unlock as it crashes to the ground.

    Bolt-Action Rifles:

    • M1903 Springfield
    • Mosin-Nagant M91/30
    • Mannlicher M1895
    • Lee-Enfield No. 4
    • Karabiner 98K (KAR98K)

DLC: Target Führer (Store Link)

There are 12 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Kill the Dictator with a testicle shot (Target Führer DLC)

This is the only kill achievement that isn’t environmental. At any point in the mission after you’ve identified Hitler as the target and while he’s walking around the facility, aim for his groin area and wait for the reticule to turn red. Fire your weapon and if you aimed in the correct area, you should get a testicle shot (the game is quite liberal with its hit detection). If you instead only wound Hitler and he falls to the ground, aim for his groin and shoot again. Once it is a confirmed "testicle shot," the achievement will unlock.

This achievement starts at [8:03] in AFGuidesHD’s video.

  • Kill Hitler with the casserole (Target Führer DLC)

    (1)

For this achievement, you must locate a pot of stew in the banquet hall and booby-trap it (hold ). Once done, just wait and he will eventually enter this room and stir the pot, thus triggering the explosion.

Note: This is Hitler’s first stop on his inspection, so you will need to infiltrate the facility as quick as possible and rig the explosion otherwise you’ll miss this opportunity. Also, you can’t make a sound or else he and his entourage will be alerted.

It is highly recommended that instead of completing the first objective for finding Richter and locating the supplies (for suppressed ammo), you just purchase suppressed ammo (it costs $4) and assign it in your loadout (you can assign it twice for 20 rounds as opposed to only finding 10 rounds in the mission). Bypass that first objective completely and immediately make your way along the incline (shooting a couple of enemies including a sniper way off in the distance on one of the circular structures). Take the first path/gap you come to on the right (as shown in the video) and work your way around past the pillbox (be careful as there is someone in there) and then shoot the roof sniper when you get to his location. This will shave at least a minute off you’re much needed time and bypass at least two enemies that may have seen you.

The trick to pulling this off is when you enter the facility through the roof entrance, when you emerge inside the facility, Hitler should be almost directly below you. A good method is to distract him by throwing a rock behind him. This will delay him long enough for you to sneak along the catwalk, drop down and find the banquet hall to rig the explosion before he’s aware of your presence.

This is a frustrating achievement that took me many tries to unlock. Hopefully you’ll have more luck with it. Major thanks to Luku2000 for uploading the video!

  • Blow up Hitler on VIP boat with a sea mine (Target Führer DLC)

    (1)

For this achievement, Hitler must be alerted to your presence. While attempting to escape, he will run in a number of directions and eventually make it out to the dock where he will jump into a boat and drive away. Before alerting him, you need to shoot down a couple of sea mines that are suspended over the water, so when he drives past one, you can shoot it to cause an explosion and kill him.

This achievement starts at [6:02] in AFGuidesHD’s video.

  • Kill Hitler with a torpedo rack (Target Führer DLC)

During his inspection, Hitler will walk past a rack of torpedoes. For this achievement, while he is standing in front of it, you need to shoot the support beam of the rack and cause them to tumble forward, causing an explosion and killing Hitler.

This achievement starts at [4:40] in AFGuidesHD’s video.

  • Crush Hitler with the Eagle at the ceremony (Target Führer DLC)

    (1)

While Hitler is inspecting the facility, at one point he will attend a ceremony. There will be a giant stone eagle suspended above him when he is on the stage, so just shoot one of the support chains and the eagle will crush him, unlocking the achievement.

This achievement starts at [3:50] in AFGuidesHD’s video.

  • Complete all challenges (Target Führer DLC)

Note: The first time you play this (or any) mission, you will not complete any challenge even if you’ve fulfilled the requirements (thanks to ReaperReborn from PST.org and DjBatfink for confirming). With each subsequent playthrough, as you complete challenges, they will save so you don’t have to complete them again.

There are five challenges in this DLC:

    • Quick Game of Squash? - Crush Hitler under a heavy object.
    • Crimson Tide - Kill Hitler as he’s escaping on his boat.
    • Heil Be Seeing You - Melee kill Hitler without blowing your cover.
    • Bang Goes the Neighborhood - Kill Hitler with an environmental explosion.
    • Schadenfreude! - The only way to complete this challenge is to kill Hitler with the 'Eternal Struggle' pistol without your cover being blown. The pistol is in the armory, and for that you need a key.
      • First, you must locate the informant (who left you the supplies at the beginning of the mission). His location is only accessible by dropping down to a window when you’re on the darkened roof of the “office” section of the map (it’s in the same area where you booby-trap the casserole for “Hot Pot”). When you're on that roof, go to the far opposite end and turn the camera so you can see the window (the location is on the other side of the second set of stairs). Drop down and climb into the window and you'll find him. When he dies, search him and you'll get the armory key.
      • Once you find the key, a light blue push pin will appear on the map. Exit the window and drop down and in the same “office” section at the opposite end (to the north) on the ground floor is the armory. Once you find it, use the key to open the door and the Eternal Struggle is directly ahead on a pillow. Swap it out for your current pistol.
      • Track Hitler around the facility and when you’re close enough, shoot and kill him with the Eternal Struggle. You might want to make a manual save before your encounter in case you blow your cover. If your cover is blown before or while shooting him, you will not complete the challenge.

For a visual reference for ‘Schadenfreude!’, Luku2000 has been kind enough to provide a video which shows exactly what you need to do to obtain the Eternal Struggle. Follow it if you are having any trouble. Note that the Eternal Struggle in the video has a suppressor/silencer. If you’ve picked up suppressed pistol ammo in the mission or have purchased it as part of your loadout and want to use it, just open up your equipment wheel with , rotate to your pistol and press to equip the suppressed ammo.

The achievement will unlock when you have completed the final challenge; you do not need to complete the mission itself unless you want to.

Note: If you have not unlocked “Challenge Accepted” yet from the main game's achievement list, acquiring this achievement will also unlock that one.

  • Kill Hitler with the submarine (Target Führer DLC)

While Hitler is walking around the facility, he will cross over a bridge with a submarine suspended above him. At the base of the submarine is a target which is a link for the support holding it up. Shooting the link will break the support and the submarine will fall onto Hitler, crushing him.

This achievement starts at [:25] in AFGuidesHD’s video.

  • Kill Hitler with any explosive item/trap (Target Führer DLC)

To unlock this all you need to do is to kill Hitler with an explosive. This could be a mine, grenade or barrel. If you are killing him for the six achievements, this will also unlock if you kill him with the torpedo rack (for “STRIKE!!”), the booby-trapped casserole (for “Hot Pot”) or with a sea mine if he’s escaping by boat (for “Minesweeper”).

  • Kill Hitler and exfiltrate without being detected (Target Führer DLC)

After you kill Hitler, you must escape from the sub-pen facility without blowing your cover. Depending on where you are when you kill him will determine how difficult this will be. To set a waypoint on your escape point, press to open your map and move the cursor over to the checkered flag on the right of the map. Press to set the waypoint and follow that to the exit.

Watch your radar and use only silenced weapons when you need to. If your cover is blown, you can press and reload the checkpoint. The achievement will unlock once you complete the mission.

  • Complete all Optional Objectives and destroy the base (Target Führer DLC)

Note: Unlike challenges, you must complete the optional objectives and destroy the base in one playthrough. They do not save each time you replay the mission.

There are two optional objectives in this DLC:

    • Asset Management - Locate the supplies
      • These are found after you infiltrate the facility and locate Admiral Richter. From where you find him, move around to the opposite side of the round support and climb down the ladder. There will be a voice-over saying “Our informant should have left some supplies for me”. Search the room and you will locate the supplies.
    • Sub-Pen Saboteur - Sabotage failsafe (2/2)
      • There are two failsafe mechanisms that you must destroy to complete this objective. Press to open your map and locate the two diamond-shaped markers on your map inside the facility. To track them so they are easier to locate, press . Once you locate them, hold to destroy them or just shoot them.

Once you have completed the objectives, a checkered flag will appear in the western part of the map (outside the facility) which is next to a pillbox. Refer to the image below for visual reference of the location (red circle). Make your way back to this location. Once you’ve found the location, you need to place a satchel charge on the door and ignite it. A few seconds later it will explode causing the base to be destroyed, unlocking the achievement.

  • Complete the Mission (Target Führer DLC)

This is story related and cannot be missed. After you have assassinated Hitler, you need to find your way out of the sub-pen and exfiltrate from the facility. To set a waypoint on your escape point, press to open your map and move the cursor over to the checkered flag on the right of the map. Press to set the waypoint and follow that to the exit to unlock this achievement.

If you do this all without being detected, you will also unlock “Silent but Violent.”

  • Kill Hitler (Target Führer DLC)

This is story related and cannot be missed. Your primary objective is to kill Adolf Hitler by any means necessary. You can pair this achievement with any one of the six other “kill” achievements and unlock them at the same time. Once you kill Hitler for the first time, the achievement will unlock.

The video below by AFGuidesHD shows how to unlock this and the six other “kill” achievements.

DLC: Death Storm, Part 1: Inception (Store Link)

There are 7 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Inception - Complete the mission

This is story related and cannot be missed.

There are four primary objectives in this mission:

    • Seek-Locate-Acquire - Find the package for Alsos
    • Strangle the Reich - Destroy the AA guns (3)
    • Strangle the Reich - Destroy the Anti-Submarine Net
    • Strangle the Reich - Obliterate the Naval Cannon

Once you’ve completed all four primary objectives, you need to rendezvous with a truck in one of two locations. Make it to the closest truck and extract with the package for Alsos and the achievement will unlock.

  • Inception - Complete all the challenges

    (2)

In order to complete these challenges, you need to have played through the mission at least once; they are not available to you in your first playthrough of the mission. However, once you complete a challenge, it saves automatically so you do not have to complete it again. It is recommended that you try to complete these on a lower difficulty.

There are five challenges in this DLC:

    • Surprise! You’re Dead! - 10 trap kills without triangulation.
      • These kills need to be performed while the circle around your radar isn’t red.
    • Snow Blind - No binocular tagging.
      • Most officers carry Duty Rosters which automatically tag most enemies. You will likely get this challenge while attempting the ‘Cool Runnings’ challenge as it is not necessary to tag anyone.
    • Get the Drop on Them - Get kills with at least 3 crane drops.
      • There are at least 8 crane drops on this map. Watch enemy patrol patterns to see if they walk under one. You may have to lure them with rocks. If you destroy the tank with a drop, you will get two kills.
    • Perfect Payback - Shoot 1 or more snipers through their rifle scope.
      • Shoot the sniper when they have finished reloading and are looking at you. It is recommended you make a manual save before engaging the sniper in case you do not get a scope kill.
    • Cool Runnings - Complete the level in under 15 minutes.

The reason the roadmap says ‘at least 3’ playthroughs for this DLC is because one of the challenges is to complete the mission in less than 15 minutes, so this needs to be a playthrough on its own. It is recommended that you complete this specific challenge on Cadet difficulty and only complete the primary objectives. Refer to “Shore Leave” for a list of primary objectives.

The achievement will unlock when you have completed the final challenge; you do not need to complete the mission itself unless you want to.

Note: If you have not unlocked “Challenge Accepted” yet from the main game's achievement list, acquiring this achievement will also unlock that one.

  • Inception - Get to the destroyer and launch the torpedo without being spotted

    (1)

This achievement is going to require some patience. To unlock it, you need to travel from your insertion point in the northwest corner of the map to the ‘Destroy Net’ objective along the eastern part of the map, all without being seen. From your start point, the objective is approximately 420 meters away.

This can be tricky since there are a fair amount of enemies, especially near the beginning. It is recommended you make frequent manual saves and alternate between two (or even three) save slots in case you’re spotted immediately after you make a save (then you can always reload another save).

As you’re making your way to the objective, your detection arrow can begin to turn yellow or even yellow/red, but it becomes full red, your cover has been blown and you’ve been spotted. As long as the circle around your radar doesn’t turn yellow or red you’re safe. You can eliminate enemies along the way if you are not seen doing it and you kill them with one shot so they don’t have the opportunity to call for help. Go for headshots when in doubt. It is okay if bodies are discovered as it does not pinpoint your position; it only raises awareness of the enemies (and turns them yellow on your radar).

You can also be seen by snipers, but if you stay in their sight for too long, your position will be compromised and your radar will turn yellow (or red).

It is recommended that you attempt this on Cadet difficulty as the enemies are less aware of you on lower difficulties.

Thanks to 360GameTV for the video:

Here is an alternate route. Thanks to BrutalBarracuda for the video:

  • Inception - Unlock the train door using the keys found on the officers

    (2)

There is a train car located in a building the eastern part of the map at the end of the train tracks. In this train car is the information Alsos needs to confirm that the Nazis are developing atomic weapon technology.

You can complete the primary objective, ‘Find the package for Alsos’, one of two ways; you can blow the train door off with a satchel charge (which will not get you this achievement) or search the harbor area for two officers, each carrying a key required to open the train car.

The first officer is located in the central/western part of the map inside a large building with train tracks. The second officer is located just south of the first in the wooded area of the map walking around a building with a tower next to it. Kill each officer and loot the bodies to find the keys.

Note: Remember, if enemies have been alerted to your position, it is possible that the officers will have moved from their patrolling locations.

Once you’ve retrieved both keys, head to the eastern part of the map to the large question mark labeled ‘Locate Package’. As you near the location, the question mark will change to a star labeled ‘Access Train’. Inside the building there are a good deal of enemies, so clear them out first before attempting to unlock the door. Once it’s safe, walk up to the train door and hold to open it. Inside the car is a briefcase. Picking it up will unlock the achievement.

It is recommended that you complete this on a lower difficulty.

  • Inception - Melee takedown all the snipers

    (2)

There are four snipers in this mission. This achievement requires you to kill all four snipers with a melee takedown. It does not matter if you’ve been sighted or raised an alarm. When you reach a sniper, press to perform a melee kill. Once you’ve killed to all four snipers, the achievement will unlock. It is recommended that you complete this on a lower difficulty.

Fortunately, each time you play the mission they are in the same location every time. Snipers generally do not move from their elevated position, so finding them isn’t difficult. It is recommended that if a sniper sees you first (and you see the glare of their scope), tag them immediately so you don’t lose track of them (in case you are involved with completing an objective and can’t get to them immediately).

  • Inception - Destroy the tank with a crane drop

    (2)

There is a Panzer III tank that patrols the northeastern part of the map (just west of the ‘Destroy the Anti-Submarine Net’ objective). The tank drives around in a circular pattern and always follows the same route. Sometimes it goes in the opposite direction, but the route is the same. If you are seen by the tank, it will stop and search for you, but will always resume its pre-determined route.

Its route takes it past a railway turntable, and almost directly under that turntable is a suspended cargo net that contains sea mines (this is immediately north the building that contains the train car with the information for Alsos). What you need to do is shoot the pulley holding up the net when the tank passes under it. Even if you just clip the tank, it should explode and the achievement will unlock.

Note: It is recommended that you tag the tank when the opportunity arises so you can track its location.

Thanks to 360GameTV for the video:

  • Inception - Dump Major Volker Grün's body into the water from the end of a boat

    (1)

In the northeastern area of the map (where two boats are docked side-by-side), there is an optional objective to ‘Locate Officer’. The officer is none other than Major Volker Grün, the Nazi in charge of the harbor. The objective is to neutralize him and retrieve his papers so the Allies can insert a lookalike in his place, then dump the body off the front of the boat so it isn’t discovered.

Major Grün patrols along the dock to the left of the boats. He will sometimes board the boat, so tag him so you can track his movements. You can kill him at any time, but it is suggested that you clear at least the left boat of enemies before attempting to dump the body since you can’t be seen doing it (if there are enemies near the bow of the right boat, kill them as well). Once you have cleared the way, pick up the body and make your way to the bow of the boat. When you reach the railing, hold to throw the body over it, unlocking the achievement.

DLC: Death Storm, Part 2: Infiltration

There are 7 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Infiltration - Complete the Mission

This is story related and cannot be missed.

There are three primary objectives in this mission:

    • The Uncertainty Principle - Locate Dr. Galvani
    • House Arrest - Liberate Veriana Galvani
    • Research Notes - Locate and acquire the music box

Once you’ve completed all three primary objectives, head to the extraction point (the same location as your insertion) and exfil.

  • Infiltration - Complete all the Challenges

In order to complete these challenges, you need to have played through the mission at least once; they are not available to you in your first playthrough of the mission. However, once you complete a challenge, it saves automatically so you do not have to complete it again. It is recommended that you try to complete these on a lower difficulty.

There are five challenges in this DLC:

    • Shhhh! - Ghost kill 5 or more enemies in the Library.
      • Silently kill 5 enemies while staying undetected (shoot or melee).
    • Boom! Headshot! - Headshot all Valkyrie Squad members in under 12 minutes.
    • Don’t Stop Breathing - Don’t use Empty Lung.
      • Do not press at all. Create manual saves just in case.
    • A Touch of Glass - Get kills with 3 or more dropped chandeliers.
      • Four chandeliers are located in the library and more in the surrounding university rooms.
    • Man in the High Tower - Kill 20 or more enemies from towers with a flag.
      • There are four towers with the Italian flag flying over it.

The only challenge that may give you issues is ‘Boom! Headshot!’. The 12 minute timer starts as soon as the mission starts. There are 14 Valkyrie enemies to kill: two guarding Propaganda Minister Viktor Habermann and 12 reinforcements that you call in as part of the ‘Summon Squad’ objective. Note that a few of the reinforcements sometimes do not enter the courtyard on the half-tracks; they stay outside on the bridge and beyond. It is suggested that you make manual saves frequently in different slots in case you take too much time.

The first step is to obtain the radio code from inside a safe in a room on the top floor of a tavern. Once you have that, make your way to the marker on the map to where the radio is. It is recommended that you kill the two Valkyrie soldiers guarding Habermann first before you call in the reinforcements. Once you have done that, if you have time, kill the remaining enemies in the area before using the radio. Whether you do or not, use the radio and wait for the two half-tracks to enter the courtyard. The Valkyrie soldiers are already tagged for convenience so proceed to headshot each of them. Keep an eye on the timer in the pause menu. Once you have killed all the Valkyrie soldiers in the courtyard, if necessary, finish them off on the bridge. If you’ve killed them all within the time allotted, the challenge will be completed.

The achievement will unlock when you have completed the final challenge; you do not need to complete the mission itself unless you want to.

Note: If you have not unlocked “Challenge Accepted” yet from the main game's achievement list, acquiring this achievement will also unlock that one.

  • Infiltration - Kill the Valkyrie Squad reinforcements using only the Neunfaust

First, you have to retrieve the Neunfaust launcher. It is located on a table in an underground passage off of the library. Make your way to the library and on the first floor in between a set of stairs is a door that you can place a satchel charge on. Once the passage is opened, head carefully down the stairs as there are about 8-10 enemies along the way. Once they are all dead, in a small room off the main passageway is the Neunfaust sitting on a table. A small cutscene will play as you pick it up. Make sure you pick up all the ammo you can carry; you should have roughly 30 rounds.

Next, you want to head over to the ‘Summon Squad’ objective in the southern part of the map. The first thing you have to do here is to locate a safe in a tavern on the top floor and retrieve radio codes so you can call in the reinforcements. There is an officer here (either in the room with the safe or close by) that has the safe code, but you can blow it if you don’t want to search him.

After you’ve obtained the code, head for the diamond marker on the map which is the location of the radio. You may want to clear out all enemies in the area as they can be a little troublesome if you don’t. Note that there will be two Valkyrie soldiers guarding Propaganda Minister Viktor Habermann that do not count for this achievement (they are not reinforcements). Also, it is recommended that before (or immediately after) you use the radio, you make a manual save in case one or more of the reinforcements are killed by other means (such as a half-track exploding).

Call in the reinforcements and moments later two half-tracks will enter the courtyard. Approximately 8-9 Valkyrie soldiers will exit the half-tracks. They will already be tagged so it will not be hard to locate them all. Once they are all standing around, proceed to shoot them with the Neunfaust. Be careful not to destroy the half-tracks until all the enemy units are dead. Also, pay attention to your ammo.

Once all the Valkyrie enemies are dead, it is very possible that a few enemies did not enter the courtyard and are still on the bridge and beyond. If they are still outside, you can either shoot them from the ground or climb one of the towers for a higher elevation and kill them from there.

If you have not done so already, destroy both half-tracks as it is possible that the driver and gunner in each count. Once all of the enemies are dead, and if all the enemies were killed with the Neunfaust, the achievement will unlock. If not, reload your save and try again.

  • Infiltration - Multi-Kill the Officers during the tactical briefing in the auditorium

Note: if you happen to complete other objectives before making your way to this room, the officers will probably not be all bunched together. It is recommended that as soon as you start the mission you get this out of the way first.

There are five officers that you must kill all at once. They are located in a lecture hall auditorium in one of the university rooms. A chandelier is situated right above the officers making this achievement simple to unlock.

Enter the town via the secret entrance along the northwestern wall (refer to "Fish in a Barrel" for its location). Follow the battlement moving east (there is a sniper along the way) until you reach the outer wall of the university (you will go through two towers after the sniper). Kill the enemy patrolling (he might be sitting down) and continue. When you emerge from the next tower, there will be three enemies patrolling. Kill them and proceed to the left into the university building.

Once inside the hallway, turn left and then left again and walk up two flights of stairs. Straight ahead to the left is a doorway on the right. This is the lecture hall auditorium. Check your radar to make sure that all of the indicator dots are all bunched together. They will be directly under a chandelier. Shoot the chandelier where it meets the ceiling and it will fall on all five officers. Make sure that you get credit for a ‘Multi-Kill’ and that five officers were killed. If you are successful, the achievement will unlock.

  • Infiltration - Kill all enemies on the island with explosives

Note: There is a secret entrance to the town in the northwest town of the map past the ruins. Refer to the image below for the location.

From the insertion point, make your way to the secret entrance. Climb up the pipe and head east along the battlement wall (there will be a sniper along the way). When you’ve reached the next tower, look to the northeast and you will see a ship docked next to an island. The island has about 25 explosive barrels on it with five enemies patrolling. All you need to do is shoot one of the barrels which will cause a chain reaction, killing all the enemies and destroying the boat.

  • Infiltration - Eye shot the book burning Officer

The officer you are looking for is Senior Lieutenant Stanislaus Osswald. He is in charge of burning books in the north section of town (in the area surrounding the ‘House Arrest’ primary objective). Killing him in any way will complete the ‘Ready-Aim-Fire!’ optional objective, but because he is walking between locations, you can’t track the objective; you have to find him for yourself. To do that, just tag everyone you see and you will eventually locate him.

There are three piles of books. You do not have to wait until a pile has been lit to kill the officer. Once you’ve located him, wait until you have a clean shot and he is standing still. Then, make a manual save in case you don’t shoot him in the eye. Aim for his head and shoot. If it’s an eye shot, the achievement will unlock. If not, just reload your save and try again until you’ve shot him in the correct way.

  • Infiltration - Complete the mission without being shot by a Sniper

There are 9 snipers in this mission. 7 of them are within the town (two of them are patrolling on the town walls and the other five are in towers) and two are called in as reinforcements during the ‘Summon Squad’ optional objective.

As you’re playing through the mission, listen carefully for the sniper detection sound (a sharp ring). When you hear it, immediately go prone and look around for the glare of the sniper scope. Either take out the sniper or move out of his field of vision. As long as he doesn’t pinpoint your location and blow your cover, he will not shoot. Do this throughout the mission and complete it without being shot and the achievement will unlock.

Note: Be careful if your cover is blown by other means because snipers will then shoot at you. If you think you’ve been shot, reload the checkpoint. It might be wise to save frequently as well.

DLC: Death Storm, Part 3: Obliteration

There are 9 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Obliteration - Complete the Mission

This is story related and cannot be missed.

There are three primary objectives in this mission:

    • Pre-emptive Strike - Eliminate Bosch and get the reactor key
    • Chain Reaction - Find a way into the reactor chamber
    • Chain Reaction - Sabotage the reactor

Once you’ve completed all three primary objectives, you need to rendezvous with a truck in the western part of the town and escape Steigerloch to complete the mission and unlock the achievement.

  • Atomic

    60

    Obliteration - Complete All Challenges

In order to complete these challenges, you need to have played through the mission at least once; they are not available to you in your first playthrough of the mission. However, once you complete a challenge, it saves automatically so you do not have to complete it again. It is recommended that you try to complete these on a lower difficulty.

There are five challenges in this DLC:

    • Anatomy for Snipers - Organ shot an enemy every 2 minutes
      • You have 2 minutes to get an organ shot. When you get one, the timer resets for another 2 minutes. You need to get an organ shot within every 2 minutes until you complete the mission. Headshots unfortunately do not count as an organ shot despite being required for “The Organ Grinder”.
    • Did you hear that? - Get 40 or more Ghost Kills
      • Ghost kills are kills performed by you without being seen.
    • Field Studies - Get kills with 10 or more different firearms
      • You carry three weapons to start, so you need to pick up 7 other weapons and get at least one kill with each.
    • Subsonic - Suppressed Ammo Kills Only
      • Equip a pistol and a rifle, both with suppressed ammo, and use only them to kill enemies. The Welrod unfortunately does not count; it has to be a weapon with suppressed ammo specifically.
      • If you have not unlocked “I Love Science” yet, do not attempt it while trying to complete this challenge. Knocking out any one of the three scientists voids this challenge.
    • Research Assistant - Recover all research papers in under 10 minutes
      • The timer starts at the beginning of the mission. There are three scientists with research papers in safes that are close to their starting location (they may relocate if they’ve been alerted) that you need to obtain in less than 10 minutes. When you encounter a scientist, knock them out and search them or pick them up to find a safe code. Alternatively, you can blow the safe open with explosives. Repeat for the other two scientists. Open all three safes and obtain the documents in less than 10 minutes.

Completing all five challenges will take a minimum of two playthroughs. The achievement will unlock when you have completed the final challenge. ‘Anatomy for Snipers’ and ‘Subsonic’ unlock when you complete the mission. ‘Did you hear that?’, ‘Research Assistant,’ and ‘Field Studies’ unlock when they are completed within the mission.

Note: If you have not unlocked “Challenge Accepted” yet from the main game's achievement list, acquiring this achievement will also unlock that one.

  • Obliteration - Kill Everyone

    (1)

It is recommended that you take your time doing this and search diligently. The achievement unlocks when you’ve killed the last enemy/destroyed the last vehicle, so if it hasn’t unlocked, just keep searching.

Note: After you complete the primary objectives, reinforcements are called in, so there will be more enemies, snipers and armored vehicles to contend with when you leave the bunker.

There will be just over 200 enemies to kill to unlock this achievement. You are required to kill every enemy and destroy every enemy tank, truck and armored vehicle (even if there’s no one in them). You do not have to destroy any civilian vehicles. There is also a small island in the southwest corner of the map that has three enemies on it. Make sure you don’t miss them!

In regards to the three scientists, you can just knock out the scientists rather than kill them. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, you can also get “I Love Science” (if you complete the mission).

Once you have killed the last enemy/destroyed the last vehicle on the map, the achievement will unlock.

If this is your first time completing the mission, you will also unlock “Storm Chaser.”

If you kill all 11 snipers with explosives, you will unlock “Overkill.”

It is also possible to complete a few challenges while doing this (‘Research Assistant,’ ‘Did you hear that?’, ‘Field Studies,’ and possibly ‘Anatomy for Snipers’), but it is completely up to you what you want to do with this playthrough.

These achievements cannot be unlocked if attempting this one:

    • For “Saving Private Reiner”, you must not kill the five members of the Reiner family.
    • For “Fingers off Triggers”, you can’t fire a weapon after sabotaging the reactor; new enemies appear after you do.
  • Obliteration - Extract Wernicke, Hänel, and Kehrer in one playthrough

    (2)

For this achievement, you need to locate the three scientists, knock them out, carry them to the extraction point and hide them in a pile of hay until you’ve completed the mission.

The scientists are located somewhere in the giant question mark circles on your map. Unless they’ve fled the immediate area, they should be very close to the smaller question mark circles, which represent their research papers (locked in safes). If they’ve been alerted, you’re going to have to search for them.

The game will not let you melee kill them; the only way to kill them is by shooting them or using explosives, so don’t do either one. When you’ve found each one, go up to them and press to knock them out. Picking them up will reveal a safe code to get their research papers (refer to “Atomic” for more information). When you pick them up, a marker appears in the western part of the map (your extraction point) where you must carry them and drop them in a pile of hay. Do this for each scientist.

Make sure that when you drop the scientists in the pile of hay, Karl says something like “sleep tight” or “sweet dreams”. If he does not say that, then the game did not register the scientist being dropped correctly. Since you can’t pick them up again, unfortunately the achievement will not unlock. It is recommended that you create a manual save before dropping the scientist so if Karl doesn’t comment, then you can just reload the save and drop them in a different place.

If you’ve successfully knocked out and hidden all three scientists, when you complete the mission, the achievement will unlock.

  • Obliteration - Don't kill any members of the Reiner family

    (2)

There are five members of the Reiner family patrolling the town of Steigerloch. Unfortunately, four of the five are on your way to the primary objectives. The last one is close to your extraction point (near the ‘Terminal Turmoil’ optional objective). All five of them are on the map before you complete the primary objectives; none appear afterwards.

The long way to unlock this achievement is to tag every single enemy to see what their name is. If their name isn’t Reiner, kill them. This can potentially be a tedious process and you will eventually run out of suppressed ammo. If you use regular ammo, you will surely alert every nearby enemy, making tagging much more difficult.

The second and easier method is to follow the video below. In it, the player only kills 7 enemies, all in the bunker area where there are no siblings.

The image below shows the general area where these siblings are located. If they’ve been alerted, however, their positions will change.

Note: You cannot unlock this achievement and “Ghost Town” in the same playthrough as you need to keep the five members of the Reiner family alive.

Thanks to 360GameTV for the video:

  • Obliteration - From the bunker reach the extraction point without firing a shot

    (2)

This achievement is self-explanatory; after you sabotage the reactor, you cannot fire a single shot through the end of the mission. If you do (accidentally or otherwise), restart your checkpoint immediately. Note that you can press to melee kill enemies.

It is best to kill as many enemies as possible in the area outside the bunker before proceeding to the primary objectives.

Note: Unless you plan on melee killing everyone, you cannot unlock this achievement and “Ghost Town” in the same playthrough as enemy reinforcements are called in after sabotaging the reactor.

Thanks to 360GameTV for the video:

  • Obliteration - Kill all enemy snipers with explosives

There are 11 snipers in this mission. This achievement requires you to kill all 11 snipers with a stick grenade, TNT, trip mines, S-mines or teller mines. It does not matter if you’ve been sighted or raised an alarm. Once you’ve killed to all 11 snipers, the achievement will unlock. It is recommended that you complete this on a lower difficulty.

Fortunately, each time you play the mission they are in the same location every time. Snipers generally do not reposition themselves from their elevated position, so finding them isn’t difficult. It is recommended that if a sniper sees you first (and you see the glare of their scope), tag them immediately so you don’t lose track of them (in case you are involved with completing an objective and can’t get to them immediately).

Note: The snipers marked #8-11 in the image below do not appear until after you’ve sabotaged the reactor.

DLC: Title Update

There are 2 achievements with a total of 50 points

  • Complete the entire main campaign on Authentic Plus difficulty

This is story related and cannot be missed. To unlock this achievement, you need to play each of the main campaign missions on Authentic Plus difficulty. This difficulty is available right from the start. It is suggested playing through the missions multiple times on a lower difficulty until you feel comfortable where everything is and how enemies react.

Since the items you pick up are fewer than if playing on a lower difficulty, it is recommended that your loadout includes two medkits and two bandages. Also for your last perk (extra ammo/carry more items), it's suggested you go with extra ammo since that is harder to come by as well.

As a reminder, the handicaps for playing on Authentic difficulty are:

    • No HUD (ammo, health, stamina)
    • No radar/minimap
    • Objectives do not appear on the map or in the mission (they are still listed when you press in the map)
    • Enemies are stronger and more aggressive, take more damage, do not show up on map
    • You take more damage
    • While you can still tag (to see enemy distance and information), there is no icon above tagged enemies or objects
    • No empty lung or aim assist (pressing holds your breath and steadies your aim but it does not zoom in, give you a reticle or give you a lung meter)
    • No zooming with scope or binoculars
    • Iron sights reticule doesn’t turn red when you are close enough
    • Realistic bullet drop and crosswinds (you can still use and to adjust the range of your scope)
    • When playing co-op, friendly fire is on (take damage when shot by teammate)

In addition to the list above, when playing on Authentic Plus, you have added constraints:

    • There are no checkpoints or auto-saves during a mission; if you die, you revert back to the beginning of the mission
      • There actually is just one checkpoint in the last mission; it occurs just before advancing to the final objective
    • There are no yellow or red directional arrows to inform you if you are being or have been detected
      • If you listen carefully, you might notice changes to the music and sounds of the game when you have been seen but not located and when you are fully detected. Listening for these cues will determine if it is safe to continue or not
    • Enemies will not call off a search if they do not find you immediately; once they’re alerted, either by directly seeing you or finding a dead body, they stay alerted until you kill them or they’ve killed you
    • While there is still sound masking, there is no on-screen notification when you are clear to take a shot
      • However, if you have vibration on, your controller will shake when you are able to shoot and not be detected
    • Limited button prompts (for example: to Vault, to Drop Down, to Emerge, etc.)
    • No on-screen kill notification (XP earned, type of kill, etc.)
    • When picking up ammo and items (from the environment or looting dead enemies), a list does not appear on-screen
      • The ammo and items you pick up will be fewer than on lower difficulties

As with Authentic, it is recommended that you do not attempt this difficulty on your first playthrough. When you do attempt it, your focus should solely be on completing each mission and not creating any manual saves while doing it (for “Better than the Best”). Collectible hunting, optional objectives and cumulative achievements should not be attempted on this difficulty.

This difficulty is even more sadistic than Authentic. If Authentic wasn’t challenging enough, on this difficulty there are no detection notifications, enemies stay alerted and if you die, you restart the mission. The same strategies should be used for this difficulty as they were for Authentic: use suppressed ammo whenever possible, kill silently and only when necessary and make sure that if you do kill someone, you hide the body.

It is recommended that you do not rush through these missions. Since you should only be completing the primary objectives, avoid all non-essential areas. You may have to take a more roundabout approach to your target, but in the end it will pay off if you remain undetected. Remember that enemies and objectives do not show up on the map, so be extremely careful. If playing in co-op, stick together and watch each other’s backs. This difficulty is extremely hard, but not impossible if you play smartly.

Speaking of co-op, there are both advantages and disadvantages to playing with a partner. The most obvious advantage is when one of you is downed, the other player can revive them. Also, while tag icons do not appear, you can still tag enemies to see how far away they are (and information about them). One player can act as a spotter and the other can adjust the range on their scope for a better shot. However, one disadvantage to playing in co-op is when you hold your breath, while there is no zoom, reticule or lung meter (the same with Authentic), there is also no slo-mo to make the shot easier. Playing solo there is.

Note: Any difficulty achievement still locked after completing the game on Authentic Plus will also unlock.

  • Complete the entire main campaign on Authentic Plus difficulty with no manual saves

To unlock this achievement, you need to complete each mission in the game on Authentic Plus difficulty without creating any manual saves. This might prove more difficult than “The Best of the Best of the Best” as there are also no checkpoints or auto-saves on this difficulty. You might be tempted to save manually, but if you do, it will void the achievement and you will have to restart the mission.

Complete all the main campaign missions on Authentic Plus difficulty, all without creating any manual saves, to unlock this achievement.

Note: If you have yet to unlock "The Best of the Best of the Best," completing the game with no manual saves on Authentic Plus will unlock both achievements.
