Introduction:
Welcome to The Explorer of Night, a 2D platformer with a light emphasis on puzzles. Most of the game consists of jumping over and on enemies to get from one end of the screen to the other. As this is a Xitilon game, it is very simple and there isn't much content. However, you will have to play through the entire game for the completion. This means experience and skill will be a major factor in this completion, but in my opinion it is a pretty simplistic platformer with decent controls. Let's get started.

Title Updates:
I wanted to state up front that all title updates for this game have achievements that are story related and incorporated into the base game. Playing through the base game to the end for all of the base game achievements will ensure that you unlock every achievement in every title update unavoidably as you progress. As such, I have not included separate roadmaps for each title update.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
All but three achievements in this game are story related, and unfortunately there is no level select of any kind. As a result, there are three missable achievements. All three are decently far into the game too, so in order to ensure you don't need to replay through this mediocre (at best) game a second time, please refer to the follow three achievements to see where to obtain them, and keep them up on your computer or in the back of your mind to ensure you don't forget about them. They are listed in the order you can unlock them.
One important thing to discuss here is getting the secret ending (for the Secret ending (200G) achievement) while still being able to continue on and complete the game like normal. Follow the steps in Secret ending (200G) to obtain that achievement. Immediately after doing so, choose to Continue your game and you will be back at the top of the ladder you climbed to get to that ending. Simply climb back down the ladder and proceed to the right to finish the level like normal, and continue on with the game to get the rest of the achievements.

Aside from those three achievements, all other achievements (including all achievements in all title updates) are story related. So for all other levels, simply complete them regardless of how long it takes or how many deaths you have. You can watch a video walkthrough in Complete the game (50G) if you ever want to see a level being completed if you get stuck, but most levels just require a bit of practice and are pretty short.

Once you complete the game, as long as you didn't miss any of the three missable achievements, you'll have wrapped up this completion.

Conclusion:
The Explorer of Night is a decent game at best. Some of the levels are incredibly easy, and some have incredibly cheap deaths. It's still not too challenging of a game, but for those used for some of the insanely fast and easy Xitilon completions, you may find more challenge in this game than you were expecting. Hopefully you made it through to the end (and didn't need to replay a second time for any missables). Congrats on this hefty completion.

  • Run away from the stone

    *HIGHLY MISSABLE*

While this achievement may seem story related - there is a level where you are required to run away from a large boulder (much like Indiana Jones) and can only complete the level if you successfully escape it - this achievement will NOT unlock unless you meet one very specific criteria. Once you get to the point near the end of the level where you jump over the pit for the boulder to fall in (and therefore you are safe), do NOT walk forward and exit the level. Instead, you must stand at the right side of the pit and watch the boulder roll toward you and fall into the pit. This is the only way to unlock this achievement. If you walk too far to the right or leave the level, this achievement will not unlock, and you'll be forced to play through the game over again up to this level.
  • Find the key and open the door

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

Refer to Complete the game (50G) for more information.
  • Use dynamite for its intended purpose

  • Beware of the pikes

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

Refer to Complete the game (50G) for more information.
  • Destroy a pike

    *MISSABLE*

About two thirds of the way through the game, you'll come to a level where you travel by boat on water, having to jump off at various points to use dynamite to clear the water for the boat to continue on. Throughout this level, there will be a pike in the water that will jump up and try to eat you. To unlock this achievement, you need to take some dynamite down low enough (onto your boat works) and place it, then when the pike comes to eat you, hope that it blows up on time to destroy the pike.

This achievement is a bit of a pain because of the timing and luck involved. Sometimes the pike will just swim past and not jump up at you. So you will likely end up bringing dynamite to your boat over and over, trying to set it at the correct spot at the exact right time such that the pike jumps toward you and runs into the dynamite right as it is exploding. It's definitely going to take some trial and error, but stick with it and eventually you'll be able to destroy a pike. It's fine if you die in the process, as long as the game registers that the pike died too.

This achievement was also quite delayed for me, so if you're sure you did it, give it a minute to see if it unlocks.
  • Fix the platform mechanism

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

Refer to Complete the game (50G) for more information.
  • Don't get wet

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

Refer to Complete the game (50G) for more information.
  • You have defeated the final boss

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

Refer to Complete the game (50G) for more information.
  • Thank you for playing

As the description says, this achievement unlocks upon completing the game. All other achievements aside from the three listed in the roadmap are story related, as are all title update achievements. As with most platformers, execution will be the difficult part, meaning watching a video will only get you so far. That being said, watching a level being beaten will definitely help with seeing how to deal with various obstacles, moving parts, enemies, etc. The following video, courtesy of Sangriaz at The Hidden Levels, shows a full playthough of the game from start to finish, and includes all three missable achievements along the way. Feel free to refer to it as needed throughout your playthrough. I don't recommend watching/following the entire video, as most levels you will be able to complete yourself, and watching the video will just artificially lengthen your time with this game. Instead, just refer to it as needed.
  • *MISSABLE*

Around halfway through the game (and right after you finish the boulder level for As fast as possible (50G)), you will reach a level that ends with an obvious broken ladder hanging above you. The only way to reach this ladder is to backtrack and grab some dynamite, then bring it to the broken ladder. Place it directly under the ladder and let it explode. This will drop the ladder down, allowing you to climb up. Reach the end of this linear section to unlock this achievement for this secret ending.

*IMPORTANT* After obtaining this achievement, choose to Continue your game. You will be back at the top of the broken ladder. Climb back down and proceed out the right side of the level to complete it like normal, allowing you to proceed through the rest of the game to obtain the rest of the story achievements.
