Introduction:
The Golf Club is a golf simulation video game developed by HB Studios and is a golf sim targeting the social features of the next generation of consoles and boasting a powerful Course Creator based on the procedural generation of courses. The Course Creator can generate a brand new course in seconds which can be shared and played immediately online with friends and other gamers. There are also full editing capabilities for courses, Tournaments and Tours.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
There is no certain way to play this, as you can go for any achievements you want, in any order. There are some online achievements connected to servers and downloads, so I do recommend you get those out of the way first... just in case you take your time with the game or forget about it and the servers go down at some point, leaving you stuck with an incomplete game.
If you've played any of the EA Sports golf games, this game does play somewhat similar to that, but with far fewer control options. There isn't much in the way of shot or spin manipulation, power meters, etc. and it's really quite frustrating.
After you do the online related achievements, I highly recommend you just use the Play Now feature and knock out a few holes to get used to the game. You could always just play a full round of 18 holes to also get "Amateur Golfer". One that's done and you feel alright with the controls, move on to the achievement list. I recommend Little Brook Manor golf course, as it is an official course and very easy, allowing you to get a few achievements over the course of your game play.
Multiplayer:
There are two achievements that require online multiplayer, although technically one of them only requires your friends list and invites. "Golf Buddy" requires you to play on a course with a friend. You can just go to the Global Players menu and add players currently in the game to your friends list and then join whatever course they are. However, YOU MUST finish the round in order for the achievement to pop. You can't just quit or dashboard out. You can also use the Global Players menu to add 3 friends currently in the game and then invite them to YOUR game, earning you the "Party Planner" achievement. See those achievements for more information.
Mop-Up:
As there is no strategic way to play this or much in the way of requirements, the entire thing kind of feels like a mop-up. Other than playing a full 18 rounds with a good score, every achievement can be done whenever you want.
Conclusion:
The absolute only thing going for this game is the course editor. Think "Excite Bike" from the NES where you can create your own track, but on steroids. If you are into building stuff from scratch, you will enjoy this feature. If you are into fairly easy achievements, you will enjoy this game. If you actually want a golf game or enjoy sports games, this game will frustrate you to no end. It is glitchy, crashes sometimes and the game controls are terrible. It's one of the worst golf games I've played. Unless you want some quick gamerscore, I highly suggest you avoid this game.
