Introduction:
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing is the second of a trilogy to be released on Xbox in a series of Action-RPG dungeon crawler games, similar to Diablo. You will play as the legendary monster hunter in a series of dark locations, destroying monsters and collecting loot to become more powerful. It has four player co-op but can also be completed solo (except for one achievement).

You will need to get three characters to Level 60, and one to at least Level 45 in Hardcore mode as well as completing the Hardcore campaign (but if you're going that far, you may as well get him to 60 - there is a trick to avoid losing your save, so it's not a huge deal). Outside of that, the achievements are not very difficult, mostly just grindy.

Save Import:
If you have any Level 30 characters from the first game, these can be imported to part two, and many of the achievements that require cumulative progress will take into account the previous progress, allowing you to unlock them slightly faster (though they'll all unlock in the course of normal play anyway). Most people will not have bought the Arcane Mechanic or Thaumaturge for the first game, which were DLC options only, but you should have a Hunter available.

Step 1: Completionist Playthrough
Hopefully you played the first game and have a Level 30 character to import, but if not you'll need to start one fresh and get it all the way to Level 60, while doing many miscellaneous achievements along the way. Only "Profiler," "It was a Blast!," and "In Your Face, Jones!" can be missed completely so if you don't get those, make sure to take care in getting them with one of the other two characters. After the game is over, you can choose to use this character for the end-game stuff, or move on to the other two characters and get them to Level 60 before deciding which one you'd like to use.

Step 2: End Game
There are many achievements tied to the "Scenario" mode which you can work on with any character (except one achievement, which can't be done with the Arcane Mechanic because he doesn't wear a cape), so after beating the game with each of the characters, choose which one you want to be your "main" character and start working on the Scenario achievements.

Step 3: Hardcore Mode
You need to beat the main campaign in Hardcore mode, which is a "one life" mode. If you die, your save is deleted. There is a trick around this, described in the guide below, but do your best to be careful while playing, as if you're not quick, it may not work. You also need to get a Hardcore character to at least Level 45, and then die. Not a very nice achievement to put in the game, but the trick to save your character still works, and there is a one-time use code that you can input while on the menu to resurrect a dead Hardcore character. I would suggest trying to get all the way to Level 60 with the character to satisfy that requirement as well, so you don't need a fourth character.

Conclusion:
Aside from Hardcore mode, and a few of the Scenario achievements, the game is not very difficult, but rather just takes some time to complete as you grind through all the Scenario completions, and getting three characters to max level. However, the game is fun Diablo clone, so it's not all that bad.

There are 50 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • The four individual stat achievements counts your base stat plus your equipment, so you can use items to help skew a stat and get the achievement earlier if you want to. However, you need to get to 300 in the base stat for Freakshow, and each character has a stat they rely on most, so invest however you need to. You can always pay to respec to get the achievement later.

  • Survive extreme damage from a single attack.

This requires that you take 1000 damage from a single blow, and survive. Best done once you've got the "You can be strong..." achievement, which means you have 300 Body and a lot of health to survive. A cheap way to get this is to have the "Second Chance" perk, so long as you have at least 1000 HP. With this, if you get killed, you go incorporeal for a few seconds and it doesn't count as a death. I got one-shot by a boss and it unlocked right away, despite technically dying from the attack (because I was saved by the perk).

  • Spend heaps of gold on resurrection.

A single resurrection costs 5% of your gold supply (whatever it may be at the time you die). The achievement is cumulative, but with all the end-game achievements, you'll have a very large amount of gold in stock later on and could easily get this with a few resurrections, if not a single one.

  • Reach 300 Willpower.

Refer to "...But it's Easier to be Just Lucky!" for more information.

  • Reach 300 Dexterity.

Refer to "...But it's Easier to be Just Lucky!" for more information.

  • Reach 300 Body.

Refer to "...But it's Easier to be Just Lucky!" for more information.

  • Reach 300 with all four abilities across any number of characters.

    (1)

You will get enough stat points to reach 300 in a single stat (whichever you may be focusing on the most) around Level 50 or so. You need to hit 60 with each character, so it won't be a problem to do at least three of these during normal play. Luck might be the only one that doesn't come naturally, but you can respec in the Secret Lair to use your points in another stat if needed.

This one only counts your base stats (not your equipment), unlike the other single-stat achievements. You do not have to have characters will 300 in each of these stats all at the same time. You can get the achievement on your first character by respecing three times if you'd like.

  • Spend 10.000 Rage points across any number of playthroughs.

Rage points are what fuel your special abilities. As long as you are using special skills often, this will come naturally during your three playthroughs. You can also turn on "auto-powerups" so that they are used automatically if you want to (helpful if you forget to use special skills and just use normal attacks all the time).

  • Reach level 60 with a Hunter (character class).

Refer to "The Wonderful Wizardov" for more information.

  • Reach level 60 with an Arcane Mechanic (character class).

Refer to "The Wonderful Wizardov" for more information.

  • Reach level 60 with a Thaumaturge (character class).

Each of these must be done in "Veteran" mode (Normal will only allow you to get to Level 30), and you can import a Level 30 character from the first game if you have one. Sadly the Mechanic and Thaumaturge were both DLC classes for the first game, and with it being a Games With Gold offering, most people probably do not have them. Hopefully you still have a Hunter to use though.

Simply play through the game and use Scenarios to level up. This can be combined with a Hardcore character if you want to do that since you need to get one to at least Level 45 and complete the game, you should be close to 60 at that point and can easily make it the rest of the way with the dashboard trick if you do happen to die.

  • Earn 1.000.000 gold from Katarina's shopping trips.

Rather than heading to a shop and selling items yourself, you can choose to give the items to Katarina and send her to do so while you are out on missions. This is done from the Inventory tab in the pause menu. She will disappear for a few minutes and return with a bunch of money. Make sure to do this whenever your inventory starts to fill up, and set her behavior to always pick up the common items you won't use (or later on the rares). You'll often get a hundred thousand or more from a single trip, especially later in the game.

  • Spend 10 million gold.

    (1)

This will come as you play, especially if you enchant often. Re-enchanting the same piece of equipment to get a different stat gets more expensive each time you do it, so you can quickly get this later in the game with only a few enchants. To get this much money, make sure you continually send Katarina on shopping trips and sell anything else you don't need.

  • Collect 10 Relics for the Resistance.

There are a total of 12 relics in the game, seven of which are found in the maps and five are rewarded for quests that you send your Resistance Captains on. You can permanently fail the quests if you send the wrong Captain, so be careful when starting these. You will pick your champion from the middle tab and then confirm it on the final tab.

To save space here, I'll just link this post where I've compiled all the relics.

  • Receive a Rare item from a Chimera hunt.

After completing the quest "Legend of the Chimera" (story related), you will receive a Chimera to use either in combat or to send on special missions to find items for you. When sending the Chimera on a mission (from the lair), look for one with a high "magic find" value and you will have a higher chance of getting a rare item in return. I got mine on the first mission I sent him on, with a Magic Find of only 3.

  • Let your Chimera kill 500 enemies.

    (1)

Rather than sending your Chimera on quests, leave him sitting in the lair and he will be available to summon during missions. He doesn't do a ton of damage or last very long (two minutes when fully upgraded), but if you equip him with a few magic candles and put Katarina in ghost form (so she doesn't steal any kills), you can get a decent amount of kills from each summon.

The best place I found to farm kills is the prison cells (where you do the Profiler achievement). There are a ton of the helicopter enemies in here and he can kill each of them in one shot. Turn on the "enemy respawn" option in the menu so that you can kill them a few times to get all 500. You'll have to quit to the main menu between each clear of the area.

  • Complete a Tower Defense campaign map without killing a single monster directly.

    (1)

The first map "Subterranean Incursion" is by far the easiest to do this on. Build "Ray-O-Frost," "Freeze-O-Floor," and "Rocketous Automated Sentry" traps so that the enemies will get slowed down, group up, and be blown up by the rockets. Luckily, this achievement will unlock after a single wave of enemies, and does not require you to complete the entire missions this way. The video below shows a clean run of the entire mission though, which will help you place your traps.

Refer to "The Roots of Evil" for more information.

  • Rescue Telsa from the Sewers.

Refer to "The Roots of Evil" for more information.

  • Reach the Giantwoods.

Refer to "The Roots of Evil" for more information.

  • Let loose the Power of Perun.

Refer to "The Roots of Evil" for more information.

  • Get your own Chimera.

Refer to "The Roots of Evil" for more information.

  • Take back the Foundry from Harker's forces.

Refer to "The Roots of Evil" for more information.

  • Find Harker's secret weapon.

Refer to "The Roots of Evil" for more information.

  • Destroy the Animated Extraction Rig.

Refer to "The Roots of Evil" for more information.

  • Defeat Harker.

    (1)

Refer to "The Roots of Evil" for more information.

  • Defeat the Dryad Queen.

    (1)

This entire group of achievements are all story related and can not be missed.

Note: Make sure during the final battle with Harker and the Dryad Queen, you get the killing blow on each of them, rather than letting their armies do the job.

  • Complete a Scenario without dying.

    (1)

A scenario is comprised of three different maps but you only have to complete a single scenario map for this achievement, and it appears to only unlock on the first map in any given scenario for some reason. Completing a map without dying can be difficult, but it is easiest probably with an Arcane Mechanic using spider bots to do most of the work, the "Ray of Awesome" build for the Thaumaturge, or a Hunter with a high Body build for the most health possible. Play on Casual with the Condition 1 setting for the easiest time.

You want to make sure you roll easier scenarios as well. For instance, something with a time limit is a bad idea, as you'll be moving too quickly and could make a mistake. Choose "hunt" type scenarios, such as treasure hunt, domovoy hunts, bounties, etc.

  • Complete a Scenario without equipped Cape, Armor, Gloves and Boots.

    (1)

Doing this achievement isn't much different than "Tough as a Coffin Nail." It's actually much easier as you can die and resurrect however many times you'd like.

  • Complete a Scenario without using any Powerups.

For this achievement you must complete a map without using any of your power ups, only basic attacks. Power ups are fueled by rage, so make sure you don't have the auto-powerup setting on, as that will use a powerup immediately when you have enough rage, thus voiding the achievement. You can still use special skills as much as you'd like, just not the extra abilities linked to them (these are what use the rage).

  • Complete 20 single player Scenario runs in the game.

Each individual map is counted for this achievement, so it is only 20 maps total, not 20 full scenarios (which would be 60 maps). If you're working on the no-death achievement and die, don't quit out, as moving forward and completing it will count for this and any kills will go toward "Hunter of Hunters" as well.

  • Kill 100 Champion, Elite or Boss in Scenarios.

You will easily get this achievement while working toward "Real Life is Overrated" - there are plenty of these monster types in each map (well, only one Boss enemy for each scenario but plenty of Champions [blue] and Elites [yellow]).

  • Earn 250.000 Reputation.

You receive reputation any time you kill a special monster (blue, yellow, and orange names). You will get this easily during the normal story mode. Despite its achievement art being the same color as the Scenario ones, it counts across all modes.

  • Finish the game with a Hardcore character.

    (1)

Hardcore Mode is a "one life" mode where if you die, your save file gets deleted. Similar to the first game, if you die you can quickly hit the home button on your controller, then choose "manage game" from the tile on your dashboard and delete your save game locally (NOT from "everywhere") and it should load from its last upload to the cloud. This might set you back a few minutes of game time depending on the last upload - but that's better than a few hours for an entirely new run.

  • Heal other players for a total of 50.000 HP.

This is the one co-op achievement in the game. You'll need to find a partner and join a game together (there is no matchmaking). Make sure you have the "Arcane Healing" skill, and ask your partner to stand in a group of enemies to take damage. Use the skill every time it's available (assuming your partner has taken damage) until the achievement unlocks. Depending on the level of their hero and the difficulty, it can go fairly quickly. Try to max out the healing skill and get any skills that will lower its cooldown as well.

  • Equip a full collection of Set items.

    (1)

As you collect set items (which are green in color), make sure you always hold on to them even if you don't want to use them. You can store them in your lair and just check every so often to see if you completed a set. Most sets are only three items, and some (such as rings) are only two.

Secret achievements

  • Find Da Vinci's Master Plan.

This is found in the Drainage Tunnels, and will be dropped by the Vault Guardian enemy. Its location is circled on the map below.

  • Find Tell's Appleshooter Bow.

This is found in a crate directly behind the enemy you kill for Da Vinci's Master Plan.

  • Find the Mushroom Expert Certificate.

This is found in the Thunderhead Mountain map. You will come to a small building with a note that says the man is out for a walk. A few steps later, you find him dead. Investigate the body to get the item.

  • Find the Frozen Goldfish.

The frozen goldfish is found in Thunderhead Mountain next to a bridge over a small stream. Investigate it to collect it.

  • Eat Woody's Snack.

Woody is a zombie found in Thunderhead Mountain. When you speak to him, make sure you choose to offer him some provisions (the first choice) and he will attack. Kill him, look the item, and then use it from your inventory to unlock the achievement.

  • Find the hiding Domovoy.

The hiding Domovoy is found in the Cold Caverns map. Click on a mine cart that is hanging out over a pit to get some loot and unlock the achievement.

  • Loot the Grey Wizard.

The grey wizard is a dead man that you can find in the Cold Caverns. Loot his body to unlock the achievement.

  • Find the Rukh pole.

The Rukh pole can be found in Thunderhead Mountain. Just click on it to get some loot and the achievement.

  • Save the Bomb Expert's life.

The bomb expert can be found in Thunderhead Mountain. He is trapped under some rocks and asks for help. However, Katarina doesn't think his instructions are correct. Choose to do what she says instead ("I will listen to you") and he will live, unlocking the achievement.

  • Find the Masterfully Botched Armor.

In the Giantwoods there are giant stones that look like heads and speak to you. One such stone will comment on your fighting skills (he isn't impressed) and will reward you with this armor, which is completely useless. Clear out the enemies in the area marked below and the stone nearby will drop the armor.

  • Find all three Moonstones.

The moonstones are found in the Giantwoods map. The first two are looted off dead bodies, while the third will be given to you by an NPC for accepting the "Gate of Perun" quest. You don't need to complete the quest, as the achievement unlocks right after getting the stone from him.

  • Eat the Suspicious Mushroom.

The NPC on the map below sells this item. Purchase and eat it to unlock the achievement.

  • You have an uncanny sense of recognizing dangerous criminals.

    (3)

In the Drainage Tunnels, you will complete the area by finding a key and letting Tesla out of his cell. In the cell next to him you will find a beggar. Speak to him and give him 100 gold to receive another key in return, and access to a new area (the portal will spawn in the final cell of the area). Once in this area, you will need to make sure you do not let out two of the psychos in this area. There will be a huge green monster on the third floor, and a creepy voice coming from one of the cells on the second floor. You can't see the man, so it's a bit hard to avoid him, but only open the cells circled below and you'll get the achievement when you next enter the Secret Lair.

  • Die with a level 45 or higher Hardcore character.

    (3)

You should be able to hit Level 45 on your way to completing the campaign for the "I'm so Hardcore" achievement. At this point, you need to die (which will likely happen anyway) and the achievement will unlock right away.

Now, you'll likely be using the dashboard/delete save file trick to salvage your character, but there is also a one-time use code you can input on the main menu to resurrect your character (LT, LT, RT, RT, LS UP, RS UP). This isn't required for the achievement, but it can save you if you mess up the other trick.
