Introduction:
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 is the final installment of the EA series featuring Tiger Woods after the 2 mega-brands parted company. This version has a wide selection of golfers, both old and new, and many courses including favorites from the previous games, such as the famous St Andrews and Augusta National, home of the Masters tournament.

The core of the gameplay still lies in career mode where you can create your own golfer and take them from an amateur through to golfing stardom. Country Clubs return from TW PGA Tour 13, along with some new features such as the Legends of the Masters mode, where you can relive famous victories and moments from the most iconic tournament in the golfing calendar. The usual online game modes are available including stroke play, match play and stableford.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Start off by making your created golfer as you'll use this for all career modes. You will need to create both a male and female character and get them to turn professional for a couple of achievements. It's worth saying here do not be tempted to spend any EA coins you earn to level up your golfer - that will come naturally with the amount of rounds you'll play if you're looking to get the full 1000. You will need the coins later for the "Pin Collector" achievement.

You will need to play through career mode at least 6 times to have won the record number of masters tournaments for the "Record Breaker" achievement. You'll also need to have scored a top ten finish in 37 tournaments. I would advise having all tournaments set to 1 round to speed this process up, although you will need to do one 4 day tournament, but settings can be manipulated to do this just once when required. You can skip any event for a course you don't own without losing ranking/Fed Ex cup points. You can skip other non-major tournaments too, however you'll need to compete in and win 18 tournaments in one season for one of the career goals.

You should join a country club early as you can. You'll need to be in a country club for the achievements "Frequent Flyer", "Tigerchat"and "No Sweat!"

Legends of the Majors will be where most players will require lots of retries, so start this early on to avoid frustration - your created golfer is rarely required and their stats will be temporarily boosted to match your opponent when required so you don't need to build them up before playing this mode. I would advise checking youtube for any events you get stuck on - most can be completed with a little perseverance but it may help to see how other people are setting their shots up to 'legend' each event.

Lastly you'll want to do the various quick tournament achievements, which nearly all require you to play with or against a legend, unlocked through the Legends mode. Take care with the settings when doing these as they have been reported as glitchy, but in my experience all will unlock with the correct set up.

Multiplayer:
There is only one truly multiplayer achievement which requires you to play a 4 player online match with all players playing as 'legend' characters. This can be done as soon as you start the game but more legendary characters are available by completing the Legends mode events. The country club related achievements require a live connection to the EA servers but are not played against other players.

Mop-Up:
There are a handful of miscellaneous achievements, most of which are easily gained by playing a single round or manipulating the game settings to play a few holes, so refer to the guide for any that haven't unlocked when career mode and the Legends of the Masters are tidied up.

Conclusion:
In conclusion this is an easy if a little time consuming 875 with only the "Last Name Legend" (Skill based), "Record breaker" (Time consuming) and "Pin Collector" (Random/luck based) achievements being awkward.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 Achievement Guide

Show secret achievements

There are 49 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Hit a 400 yard drive with a Power Golfer

Use Bubba Watson or Rory McIlroy to get this achievement. Set up a practice round at East Lake with the wind conditions set to gale force, and using custom hole selection play only hole 14 (16 will also work). Reload the practice round with these settings until you get favourable wind blowing from behind your golfer. Now hit a 400 yard/366 meter drive.

  • Hit a hole in one with a Control Golfer

Use Luke Donald for this achievement, or you can edit your created golfer to set their style to control. There are many straightforward par 3 holes to attempt this on. I would suggest setting up a practice round on any course you are familiar with using custom hole selection to just play the par 3s.

  • Hit the fairway with a Draw Golfer using a Draw shot (Shot Shaping set to Normal or Advanced)

This can be done using your created golfer, and editing their shot style to draw. Hit a shot off the tee and land on the fairway. Very straightforward.

  • Complete an 18 hole round with a 100 percent FIR. FIR = Fairway in Regulation

FIR is when your first shot from the tee lands and stays on the fairway (The green counts for par 3 holes). This will likely come naturally while playing, however if you are having difficulty set up a practice round on a course you're familiar with and set the wind conditions to calm. Concentrate on hitting clean shots onto the fairway or green from the tee. This achievement will unlock at the end of the 18 holes.

  • Complete an 18 hole round with a 100 percent GIR. GIR = Green in Regulation

GIR is when you land on the green with a chance to make an under-par score, for example landing on the green on the second shot of a par 4 hole. This will likely come naturally while playing, however if you are having difficulty set up a practice round on a course you're familiar with and set the wind conditions to calm. Concentrate on hitting clean shots onto the fairway or green from the tee, and particularly when in the fairway. This achievement will unlock at the end of the 18 holes.

  • Land on the green from over 175 yards away using a Hybrid

This will likely come naturally while playing, a hybrid club will always be selected as a default in any created golfer's bag. If you use other golfers you may need to check what clubs they carry, but there will be plenty of opportunities to get this if you're playing for the completion.

  • Sink a 40ft putt with Green Grid Beads turned OFF

This is actually much easier than it sounds as you can manipulate the game settings mid-round after every shot. On any large green play to 40ft(12.2m) away from the pin (St Andrew's has plenty of huge greens if you can't find one easily), and line up your putt using the putt preview to ensure it is going in. Once lined up, press start and enter the gameplay settings menu, turn the green grid off and resume the game. Sink the putt and the achievement unlocks.

  • From the Fairway, land within 1 yard of the flagstick from 150 yards out with the Wind Display OFF

This is most easily attained by setting up a practice round using 4 of the same golfer. Set up a practice round at Pebble Beach, calm wind with no wind gusts. Use 4x Luke Donald's all controlled by yourself and do a custom hole select for only the par 4 and par 5 holes. Note - you will need to turn off the wind display in the in game setting for each golfer. Concentrate on laying up your tee shots to the 150-yard marker, then you'll need to land your second shot very close to the pin. The achievement will pop after the shot lands, so there's no need to play through the round.

  • Complete Amen Corner (Augusta 11,12,13) with a birdie or better on each in a single round.

This is easiest done in a practice round as it is the only game mode you can use spin in when playing Augusta. That said you will need to play this course at least 14 times for other achievements so you will have plenty of opportunities. This will unlock mid-round so you don't need to finish the round.

In order to get this achievement you will need to get lucky with the wind on the par 3 12th, which usually has a swirling circular wind that is there even if the wind set to calm. Practice makes perfect for this one.

  • Play an 18 hole round of golf at Night

Very simple achievement - set up a practice round on any course with the full 18 holes and complete it. The achievement will unlock when you complete the round.

  • Play an 18 hole round of golf with LIVE Time of Day ON

Another simple achievement - set up a practice round for a full 18 holes on any course with the time of day set to 'LIVE'. The achievement unlocks when you finish the round.

  • Play an 18 hole round of golf on Simulation Difficulty

This can be very easily gained by manipulating the game settings mid-round. Play a full 18 hole practice round any any course, when you get to your final putt on the 18th hole line it up to go in then pause the game and in the Gameplay Settings menu change the to difficulty to simulation. Exit to resume the round and make the final shot. The achievement will unlock when your completed scorecard comes up.

  • Finish in 1st place of a Featured Event

Go to Quick play/Featured Tournament and start up with the scenario and settings unchanged. If you change any setting at all this will not unlock. If unsure you can restore default settings. The achievement unlocks at the end of the completed round.

  • Play an 18 hole round with Boost Pins equipped

This will likely come naturally, once you have unlocked a boost pin you will be prompted before starting a round to select any you wish to use. Play the full 18 holes with at least one pin equipped and this will unlock when the round is finished.

  • Complete a Bronze or better Boost Pin set (Any course)

This is one of the rarest achievements in the game, as it is entirely luck based.

You will earn EA coins when you play with your created golfer, and these can be exchanged for boost pins in the Pro Shop. Only buy the cheapest packs as these give the most bronze pins, and all packs only give the same amount of pins so this represents the most economical way of getting boost pins.

You will be trying to a fill an entire set of pins to complete a bronze set, so i would advise selling any that are not bronze pins when you go through the packs.

You only get one chance to sell pins when you first open a pack, so choose wisely.

You can purchase EA coins through your XBL account if you want to try and speed the process up - but it's still random what pins you'll actually receive, so this may only be an option for people with deep pockets!

  • Win the Marathon scenario in Quick Tournaments with Nicklaus & Palmer in the U.S. Open at Oakmont

This is probably the most difficult scenario based achievement as you'll start behind the leader on the final round and must win to get the achievement.

Set up a tournament using the following settings: Quick play/Quick tournaments/US Open Championship/Oakmont CC/The Marathon scenario. Select either Nicklaus or Palmer (from either era) for yourself and pick the opposite character as your opponent. Leave the round settings as default (reset to default if needed - but check them afterwards!), and play through 18 holes. The achievement will pop when your winning scorecard comes up on completion of the round.

  • Play a Quick Tournament with Snead, Woods, Nicklaus, and Hogan. (Any PGA TOUR Tournament)

Set up a tournament using the following settings: Quick play/Quick tournaments/PGA Tour/The Players Championship/Top four scenario. Select Tiger Woods (1997-2006) for yourself and pick Snead, Hogan and Nicklaus (1972-1980). Leave the round settings as default (reset to default if needed - but check them afterwards!), and play through 18 holes. The achievement will pop when your scorecard comes up on completion of the round, and you shouldn't need to win (I would always win for good measure though).

  • Play Holding the Lead in Quick Tournaments with Woods, McIlroy, Bradley in the PGA Champ at Oak Hill

Set up a tournament using the following settings: Quick play/Quick tournaments/PGA Championship/Oak Hill CC/Holding the Lead scenario. Select your created golfer for yourself and pick Woods, McIlroy and Bradley as AI. Leave the round settings as default (reset to default if needed - but check them afterwards!), and play through 18 holes. The achievement will pop when your scorecard comes up on completion of the round, and you shouldn't need to win (I would always win for good measure though).

  • Win On Their Heels at Kraft Nabisco with Thompson against Lewis, and Creamer in Quick Tournaments

Set up a tournament using the following settings: Quick play/Quick tournaments/LPGA Tour/Kraft Nabisco Championship/On Their Heels scenario. Select Lexi Thompson as your golfer, and pick Creamer and Lewis as AI. Leave the round settings as default (reset to default if needed - but check them afterwards!), and play through 18 holes. The achievement will pop when your winning scorecard comes up on completion of the round.

  • Play the In the Hunt scenario with Jones, Woods, Watson and a Created Golfer at the Masters

Set up a tournament using the following settings: Quick play/Quick tournaments/Masters Tournament/Augusta National/In The Hunt scenario. Select your created golfer for yourself and pick Woods, Jones and Bubba Watson (Not Tom Watson) as AI. Leave the round settings as default (reset to default if needed - but check them afterwards!), and play through 18 holes. The achievement will pop when your scorecard comes up on completion of the round, and you shouldn't need to win (I would always win for good measure though).

  • Win Two in the Running in Quick Tournaments using Palmer in the Open Championship at Royal Troon

Set up a tournament using the following settings: Quick play/Quick tournaments/Open Championship/Royal Troon Golf Club/Two in The Running scenario. Select Arnold Palmer as your golfer and leave the other as the default. Leave the round settings as default (reset to default if needed - but check them afterwards!), and play through 18 holes. The achievement will pop when your winning scorecard comes up on completion of the round.

  • Become the All-Time Win Leader in each of the four Major Leaderboards in Quick Tournaments

You'll need to play 21 rounds in total. Use the following settings for the tournaments to do this the shortest way - Quick Play/Quick Tournaments/pick the major you're competing in - Change the scenario to 'Solo Leader' and change any course settings to your preference.

You will need to play each major enough times to become the all time win leader for each, as below:
The Masters Tournament - 6 wins
The Open Championship - 6 wins
US Open Championship - 4 wins
    PGA Championship - 5 wins

You can check your progress by setting up in the way mentioned above and when prompted to select an event checking the all time win leaders list for any of the majors.

  • Earn PGA TOUR card in Career

To earn a PGA tour card you'll need to start a career with a male golfer and play through the web.com Q school and then 3 web.com tour amateur tournaments to be invited to the PGA tour. You don't have to win all the amateur tournaments but it will be quicker getting this achievement if you do. This is unmissable if you intend on playing through career mode with a male golfer.

  • Earn LPGA Tour Card in Career

To earn a LPGA tour card you'll need to start a career with a female golfer and play through the 2 amateur tournaments before winning 5 events on the Symetra tour/Q School to be invited to the PGA tour. You don't have to win 5 tournaments but will instead need to play more (placing well) to qualify for the LPGA Tour. This is unmissable if you intend on playing through career mode with a female golfer.

These achievements unlock at the end of a winning round in the major tournaments. If you are playing through the career they will come naturally, but all can be obtained through the quick tournaments feature.

To set up a quick tournament access the following from the main menu - Quick Play/Quick Tournaments and pick the relevant tournament. For the easiest round change the scenario to 'Solo Leader' and remember to pick your created golfer! These achievements unlock upon completion of a winning round.

  • Win the FedExCup (Career Only)

This will likely come naturally at the end of the first season if you've been placing highly and winning tournaments. You can check your position at any time through the menus Career/Stats and Leaderboards/FedEx Cup Leaderboard.

  • Become #1 in the EA SPORTS Golf Rankings

This achievement will come naturally towards the end of your first season if you've won/placed well in enough tournaments. You can check your position at any time through the menus Career/Stats and Leaderboards/EA Sports Golf Rankings.

  • Become a Legend in Career mode by completing all the PGA TOUR Goals

Note: these are the goals for a male golfer, female golfers have a slightly different set of goals.
You will be given the PGA Tour goals once you've turned professional (Unlocking the "Never leave home without it" achievement).

There are 14 goals in total with requirements broken down below:
Be a wire to wire champion - This requires you to play and be in the lead for all four rounds of same tournament. If you have tournaments set to 1 round as advised in the road map change this setting for 1 tournament through the Career Info/Tour Settings menu. You can change it back once this goal is met.
Become rookie of the year - This will unlock at the end of your first season if you've been winning most the tournaments, which you should be aiming to do!
Be in the top 10 - You need to complete 37 tournaments and finish in the top 10. You can get this eventually by playing the whole first season and then only playing major tournaments in subsequent seasons for those career goals.
Be a title defender - Win the same tournament 2 seasons in a row. This will come naturally if you're completing the other goals in this list.
Be a money list leader - This will come naturally at the end of the first season if you win or place highly in all tournaments you enter.
Be at the top of the charts - This will come naturally at the end of the first season if you win all tournaments you enter.
Be a career slam champion - Win all 5 majors in your career - this will also come naturally at the end of the first season once all majors (The Masters/UK Open/US Open/PGA Championship/Players Championship) have been won.
Be a leader in PGA tour wins - You need to compete in and win 18 tournaments in one season - i'd advise doing this in your first season.
Achieve the most FedEx cup wins - The FedEx cup is based on points scored over the season and will be awarded at the end of each season. This will unlock naturally at the end of the second season at the earliest.
Achieve the most Masters wins - You need to have won the Masters tournament 6 times, so this can only be unlocked from the 6th season or more.

Achieve the most major championship wins - You need to have won 18 major championships, and you'll need to have won 21 to complete the other goals so this will come naturally.

  • Legend all events in Legends of the Majors

The Legends of the Majors mode has around 60 challenges spanning the different era's of the professional game, each era culminating in a match play against a legend/group of legends. Each legend match then unlocks the relevant achievement and the legend as a playable character.

The related achievements are straightforward as all events can be passed rather than 'Legended'. This, however, is the most challenging achievement in the game as you need to play well, get lucky with course conditions and the sometimes variable AI.

For specific challenges I'd advise checking youtube if you're really stuck but as the winds are changeable this is an achievement that will need patience, some good fortune and a decent level of skill.

  • Play a Four Player online match with all players using Legends

This is exactly as it sounds - get four players online to start an 18 hole match where every players is using a legend. You don't need to complete the round as this unlocks at the start. Find and set up boosting sessions HERE

  • Play in a Connected Tournament

Connected tournaments are found under the main menu - start the default tournament taking care not to change any settings. Once you complete the round and submit your score the achievement will unlock.

  • Play in a Country Club Tournament

You will need to join a country club to get this achievement. When you are a member of a country club check for active tournaments and start the round, the achievement will unlock when you start so the round doesn't need to be completed. The country club leader can start these so you can try sending a message to them to set one up, or alternately start your own club and set up a tourney.

  • Earn a Five Day Loyalty Bonus

Very straightforward - join a country club and then play on 5 consecutive days and earning 'status points' (They will show at the end of a round if you're a country club member). Ensure you sign into the EA servers each day for this to count. On the fifth day this unlocks at the main menu.

Set up a practice round on any course except Augusta, with the time of day set to night, and choose Scott Ratchman as the golfer. The achievement will pop when the first tee loads, so you don't need to complete the round.

  • Earn Golfer Level 5 with a created golfer

See "Pai Mei" for more details.

  • Earn Golfer Level 25 with a created golfer

See "Pai Mei" for more details.

  • Earn Golfer Level 50 with a created golfer

Your golfer level will increase as you play rounds with your created golfer. Typically career mode offers the best way to gain exp, although any game mode will keep your golfer ranking up. This will come naturally to anyone intending on completing the full 1000. These achievements pop mid-round when you have gained enough exp to reach the relevant level.
