Introduction:
“Build quaint island towns with curvy streets. Build small hamlets, soaring cathedrals, canal networks, or sky cities on stilts. Block by block. No goal. No real gameplay, just plenty of building and plenty of beauty. That's it. Townscaper is an experimental passion project; more of a toy than a game. Pick colors from the palette, plop down colored blocks of house on the irregular grid, and watch Townscaper's underlying algorithm automatically turn those blocks into cute little houses, arches, stairways, bridges and lush backyards, depending on their configuration.” - microsoft.com

Let your imagination run wild and design your very own town in this relaxing game. The controls are very simple; button-a.png places a block, button-b.png removes a block, analog-left.png moves the crosshairs and analog-right.png rotates the camera. lt.png and rt.png zoom in and out. Use the grid to build differently shaped structures and experiment by removing certain blocks to give your town some unique features.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Achievement-wise, all that is required are simple tasks like building a garden, a lighthouse, or placing 100 and 1000 blocks, to name a few. There is nothing overly demanding to unlock any of them. Refer to the guide below for full details.

The first thing you want to do is to turn on the grid. This is done by pressing button-menu.png, moving down to ‘Grid’ then pressing button-a.png (so the box is filled in). While it isn’t needed for most of the achievements, it is very helpful for a few and required to locate a circle pattern for Propelled (100G), which will probably be the most time consuming achievement because circle patterns aren’t common on the grid. Also, the only achievement that requires a specific color is Who goes there? (100G). It is recommended that outside of that achievement, you do not change colors since when you place a block with different color, the building design changes, which may cause some achievements not to unlock. However, changing colors is very useful if playing the game outside of earning achievements if you want to spend some time and design your own town.

Most achievements can be unlocked in a very short amount of time if following the guide, earning them all within 15 to 20 minutes.

Conclusion:
Townscaper is a super-relaxing game and its achievements are not difficult to obtain. Congratulations on earning another 1000gs.png!

There are 10 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Built a garden.

Find a pattern on the grid that is mostly squares and place blocks in a 5x5 pattern. Fill it in so there are no spaces, forming a base structure. Next, place a layer of buildings around the border of the base structure which will enclose the middle area to create a garden.
  • Built all the way to the sky.

Anywhere on the grid, place a block in the water and keep stacking blocks on top of it. You can maneuver your camera so it is directly overhead which will make it easier, but you still may need to adjust the crosshair as you build. Keep placing blocks on top of one another until the achievement unlocks, which should take 75 blocks or more.
  • Built a lighthouse.

Anywhere on the grid, place a block in the water then another block of the same color on top of it. Next, press dpad-up.png or dpad-down.png to change the color to white (at the bottom of the color bar on the left) then place a third block on top of the other two.
  • Built a house with a spire on top.

Anywhere on the grid, place a block in the water then two more blocks of the same color on top of it.
  • Decorated a garden with a sculpture.

After you unlock The Gardener (100G), using the same color, place a second layer of buildings on top of the first layer. After that layer is placed, remove the middle blocks from the first layer of buildings on all four sides which will form arches.
  • Captain

    100

    Built a Hook.

Anywhere on the grid, place three blocks next to each other, forming a base. Then, place three blocks on top of those, forming buildings. Finally, place a block on top of the middle block so the center is three blocks high.

Next, delete the base middle block and the two outside building blocks. This will place a hook hanging towards the water from the middle building block.
  • Built a church door.

Find a pattern on the grid that is mostly squares and place blocks in a 3x3 pattern. Fill it in so there are no spaces, forming a base structure. Next, place a layer of buildings in six of the nine spaces (leaving a row of three), then place another layer of buildings of the same color on top of what you previously built. Finally, facing the three spaces you didn’t build on, remove the middle building from the first layer so it forms an arch.
  • Built a floating town supported by propellers.

Search the grid until you find a pattern that is round. It may take some searching as the pattern isn’t very obvious or prevalent. Look for a pattern similar to the image below (highlighted in red).

First, build a circle of blocks as a base. The ideal circle will only be 12 blocks; any larger and you risk this not working. Also, it needs to be a circle, not an oval, square or rectangle. Next, place a second layer of buildings on top of the first layer. Finally, remove the entire base, leaving only the layer of buildings. If done correctly, propellers will automatically appear to hover your town above the water.
  • Placed 100 blocks.

This should unlock while you are earning the other achievements. If it hasn’t unlocked by then, just start placing blocks randomly around your buildings.
  • Placed 1000 blocks.

After you’ve unlocked all the other achievements, all that needs to be done to earn this is to keep moving analog-left.png around while holding button-a.png to place blocks all over the place (if it stops placing, just press and hold button-a.png again, or keep spamming it). It doesn’t matter where you place them, as long as they appear. Do this until the achievement unlocks.

Note: If you press button-menu.png, you can determine how many blocks you’ve placed by looking at the ‘Undo’ selection.
