Introduction:
Embark on a wild adventure and discover the unbreakable bond between Troll and Otto, two outcasts struggling to survive and find their way back home. You can control both characters throughout your solo playthrough, although it is advised you play with a friend in Co-Op mode for the full 1000, which means you will only be able to play as one of the characters.
Deep in the Nordic wilderness, a teenage boy named Otto is forced to flee his home after a band of brutal hunters rip through his village in search of a mythical creature rumored to inhabit the forest. Now on the run for his life, Otto inadvertently finds and befriends the elusive creature being sought by the hunters. Thus begins the perilous adventure of Troll and Otto.
Together, the unlikely friends embark on a journey through treacherous territory plagued with rivals. Natives to the forest, Troll and Otto must use their inherent skills to sneak, strategize, and battle their way back home. The forest is filled with unknowns, and teamwork is pivotal to staying alive.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Straight forward, there isn't much needed in the way of a walkthrough. There is no level select and you must play the story from beginning to end, with only the ability to backtrack through the landscape as a means to miss out on things you have forgotten while in the area the first time. There are also blocked off areas to explore that you cannot get to without red, green or blue exploding arrows, which you don't unlock until further along in the story. That means you need to remember (or write down) how many secret areas you might miss and then go back for them.
I suggest you look through the achievements below and take note of what you need to do in regards to specific achievements or collectibles that aren't story related and go from there. It's really only the collectibles that will pose a problem.
Multiplayer:
There are 2 achievements worth 100 that you need to get in Co-Op mode. The game isn't much easier or better played solo or with a friend... but since you need to complete it once in Co-Op in order to get the full 1000gs then you might as well only play it once with a friend (if you can).
Mop-Up:
There are no "levels" per se, so you can't do any mission select options to go back and collect things or close fractures. The only options you have are to be very diligent while playing the game, or literally backtrack through the game to the start, looking for collectibles or doing something achievement related. Thus, there is no "mop up" other than going back and exploring. It sucks. Sorry.
Conclusion:
This would be a good game, if not for numerous bugs/glitches and a whacky save system. Overall, it's fairly fun but can be aggravating for people who like a little more adventure and of course completionists will probably hate the Co-Op achievements. The way it is right now, it's a mediocre game at best.
