Introduction:
Welcome, to another fairly easy shooter. Only 1 playthrough is needed even though the difficulties do not stack, because you can replay the last level on Hard and Insane for the achievements, or create a backup save and just do the very last checkpoint - depending on how much effort you want to put in.

There are 3 potentially glitchy achievements to be aware of. The first two are multiplayer achievements “Uberdork” and “Team Player” which may unlock before the required amount of wins, though some people do have to play the correct amount in order for them to pop. The other is “Master Sniper” which seems to unlock for most people on Easy (rather than Normal). Try and ensure you do NOT miss a single shot and if it doesn't unlock when you attempt it, then load up Level 3 (when you get the Gewehr) or 6 on Easy and try there.

There are also cheats that unlock after you beat the game. Use these for replaying the last level on hard and Insane as they do not disable achievements. Go to the Extras menu after beating the game and you can turn on Infinite Ammo/Grenades and improved health regeneration.

Step 1: Normal Playthrough
This is where you will be getting a majority of the achievements, so make your way through the campaign. Take note that you will need to sprint for 30 minutes throughout the campaign for the “Run!” achievement.

Level 1 - When you see your first enemy walk up to him and press to grapple him, then press to throw him to his death unlocking “Gravity is a Harsh Mistress”. You will make your way to an outdoor lift, activate it and look right. You should see 4 paratroopers kill them to unlock “Sharpshooter” be aware that one of them starts slightly below the lift so be sure to look down and kill him first. Also, try and take your time with shots and maintain a high accuracy to snag "Dead-eye" though this can be done on any level, but this one is the easiest. At the end of this level you'll unlock "Reservation for One".

Level 2- During this level you will be trying to get the “Exploding Monkey” achievement. Keep tossing grenades over the barricades in hope that you kill 4 enemies with one grenade. You will also get "Defender" at the end.

Level 3 - Is the best place to get "Clingy". Use to grapple the first enemy and the grapple every enemy you come across until the achievement pops. DO NOT shoot an enemy of the counter will reset. End of the level will net you "Save Yourself".

Level 4 - You'll unlock "Need a Ride?" and "I saved the General" through natural progression.

Level 5 - On this level you will come to a kitchen where a enemy is standing in front of a television. Walk up to him and press to grapple him and press to smash his head through unlocking “TV Repair”. Also on this level you will come to a room where an enemy is burning paper in a furnace. Kill him and look next to him, you should see stacks of paper. There is a book you can pick up with , unlocking “Dolley Madison Award”. Do this BEFORE heading up the dumbwaiter or you will have to restart the level. End of the level will net you "Impeached".

Level 6 - Right at the start of this level in front of you will be a sniper. Pick it up and start going for headshots with it to unlock “Master Sniper”. This achievement may or may not unlock the first time. To be safe make sure not to miss any shots - if it fails to pop then you can try again here or on Level 3, when you get the Gewehr, via Mission Select on Easy. You will come to a room, with a secret elevator in it. Take the elevator down and when you come out make a left and kill the enemies. Near where you killed the enemies will be a door open it and inside will be a Nazi sitting on the toilet. Grapple him with and dunk him, by pressing , unlocking “Swirley Time”. End of the level will get you "Going Nuclear".

Level 7 - During this mission pick up and save as many rocket launchers as you can. At some point you will get to a part with an elevator. After you exit the elevator you will be on a bridge, and if you look to your right you should see two assault blimps. Take both of these blimps down to unlock “Oh, the Humanity!”. Sneak onto the Zeppelin to get "Stowaway" and then complete the game to get "Turning Point" and "Presidential Medal for Merit" (Normal difficulty).

Step 2: Hard/Insane
You now have two choices to make your life easier without playing the game twice more.

1) Now that you have beaten the game once its time to replay the last level on Hard and Insane. Go to the extras menu and activate the cheats Infinite Ammo, Infinite Grenades, and Double Health Regen. Change the difficulty, go to Mission Select and finish the last level twice more to unlock "Presidential Medal for Freedom" and "Presidential Citizens Medal".

2) Alternatively you can just do the last checkpoint twice more (killing a mere five or so enemies). Once you've completed the game on Normal go to the dashboard, Storage Settings and copy your save data onto USB drive or into cloud storage.

Load the game back up, go to options and select your "Storage Device" as the Hard Drive (if it doesn't ask you automatically, then check this is the selection) and continue the last chapter/level choosing your difficulty as either Hard/Insane. Once it starts quit the game and go to the in game options, now select "Storage Device" again and choose the other location you moved your save to (either USB or Cloud).

Go back to the Campaign and choose to Continue. Now the last checkpoint will be loaded and you need to kill a few people and finish the game for the achievement depending on which difficulty you selected. This is actually faster than it sounds and saves you the trouble of even redoing the whole of the last level.

Step 3: Mop Up
By now you should have almost all the single-player achievements. The ones that you may be missing if they didn't unlock as listed are: “Clingy”, “Dead-eye”, “Run!” and "Master Sniper”. Refer to the achievement guide below for more assistance. You should have snagged all the relevant kill achievements as you progressed for "One Man Army", "Combat Veteran", "Combat Experience" and "Environmentalism" (use the grapple on enemies for this last one) as there are far more than the 400 required enemies to take out.

Step 4: Multiplayer
This is where most of the time comes in. You will need 8 players for two achievements, “MVP” and “pwnt” - so have each player take it in turns to get the highest score and number of kills. Also, keep track of the maps and mode you play them on for later. After your first game you will also get "First Time for Everything". Assuming each person chosen to win doesn't die they can also get "Stayin' Alive" (make sure you're in a ranked match) and if you kill one other player with the last bullet from a pistol (headshot) you will get "One in the Chamber".

You need at least 4 people for “Team Player” and “World Tour” as you can only play team games with at least four people, so be sure to play every team game on a each map and aim to win 20 team games (though this often takes far fewer). Then you can play every other mode/map with just two players (assuming World Tour doesn't unlock early which it has a habit of doing).

All the kill based multiplayer achievements can be gained with just 2 players. Choose a small map like Lab Rat and trade kills. If you haven't already you can also get any of the other misc. online achievements such as "Next Time Take the Stairs" - start on the ghetto map and look for a building with a cab outside, climb to the top and jump off. You need a total of 2,500 kills to get "Maybe I should go Outside" and snag "Killer" and "Killer Instinct" along the way.

Find buddies in the Trading Thread.

Conclusion:
This game is a pretty simple completion, assuming you can find 8 people to help with two online achievements as the servers are deserted. After that you can just pair up to trade kills and you'll be done in no time. The campaign is also straightforward barring one glitchy achievement that shouldn't be too tricky to get if you keep at it, and a nice shortcut for completing all difficulties. Overall a reasonably easy 1000g.

There are 39 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Clingy

    25

Kill 15 enemies in a row by grappling them on any difficulty

A popular location for this achievement is at the subway in the third mission.

There will be a guy with his back to you at the start, so grapple him first (with the button). Continue through this area, using only grapple to kill each enemy. By the time you get to the end, you should have the achievement.

For some reason, it often won't let you grapple an enemy. Instead of standing in front of him ramming on the button until you die, run away and behind cover then try again.
Also, there is one grapple animation where your character ends up shooting the enemy.
This still counts as a grapple, don't worry.

  • Kill 250 enemies in the campaign on any difficulty

    See “One Man Army”.

  • Kill 50 enemies in the campaign on any difficulty

    See “One Man Army”.

  • Complete any mission with an accuracy of 80% or higher on Normal or higher difficulty

    This one may be tough.

If you try it on the first mission, avoid shooting the parachuting enemies at the beginning because it will lower your accuracy rating pretty badly. Grenades don't affect your accuracy, so throw lots of those, use grapple effectively and fire slowly with single shot assault rifles.

You can check your accuracy any time by pressing and going to 'Stats'. It is cumulative however, meaning if you reload a checkpoint, the stats will still include any missed shots before you reloaded the checkpoint.

  • Help defend the barricade in New York on Normal or higher difficulty

Story-related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the second mission.

  • Save the Constitution from being burned on Normal or higher Difficulty

In the mission "Assassination Plan" of act 2, you will come to a room where a Nazi is burning some books in a furnace. The room is somewhat hidden, and comes right after going up the first elevator following the three bunker battles. Kill the book burner and look beside him, there is a piece of paper that you can pick up with the button.

  • Complete 40 environmental or grapple kills on any difficulty

You will likely get this one while working on “Clingy”, but if not, just keep restarting a mission you're familiar with and grappling every possible enemy with the button.
You also get progress toward this by blowing up explosive barrels to kill enemies, but grappling is a bit easier.

  • Kill at least Four enemies with one explosion on any difficulty

There are quite a few places you can get this, and it is possible by either throwing a grenade or blowing up barrels.
    1. Near the end of the first mission, there is a truck with a couple of barrels on the back of it and enemies nearby.
    2. In the second mission, you can throw grenades over the barricades.
    3. Near the beginning of the fifth mission, four enemies come out of a door that you open with a switch so chuck a grenade.
    4. In the fifth mission, try running towards the bunkers like a madman and throwing grenades up the sides.
    5. Also in the fifth mission, you can throw a grenade into the elevator where a ton of enemies pour out while your buddies arm the bombs to blow up the White House.

  • Rewire an Atom Bomb on Normal or Higher difficulty

Story-related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the sixth mission.

  • Toss a paratrooper onto the streets below New York on any Difficulty

Basically story-related, almost impossible to miss.

At the very beginning of the game, when a paratrooper lands in front of you, just grapple him with then throw him off by pressing .

  • Rescue General Donnelly from the D.C. courthouse on Normal or higher difficulty

Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked during the fifth mission.

  • Oust the false President from office on any difficulty

Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the fifth mission.

  • Kill 10 enemies in a row with a headshot on any difficulty

This is perhaps the most difficult single player achievement.

Although there is some uncertainty with the specific requirements, I suggest you use a sniper rifle only and try not to miss any shots in between to be safe. It also may not work on Easy, so you'd might as well try it on Normal. If you don't get it on your first try, just keep retrying it.

Here are a few places where you can try to get it:

    1. Load the third mission and get to the part where you pick up a sniper in the subway.
Start by getting headshots on the enemies in here, then continue to the next area, killing the enemies on the rooftops as well as the ones in the street after shimmying across the buildings.

There are more than enough enemies to get the achievement, even if you reload the checkpoint before the blimp comes and miss out on the enemies in the subway.

    2. Load the seventh mission and keep a sniper you pick up shortly before going up an elevator. Directly after you exit the elevator is when you should start getting the headshots. To further clarify, this is also the spot where you must destroy the assault blimps for an unrelated achievement.

After killing the two enemies right away (one on the left, one on the right) and the two at the end of the first walkway, kill the ones in the assault blimps if possible. Then, look up to the higher level of the bridge on the left and headshot the ones that group together.

    3. Load the sixth mission and pick up the sniper on the boxes right in front of you after you parachute down. Carefully headshot the enemies by the sandbags and on the surrounding wall of the roof.

Eventually they will stop coming, and a door will open and more enemies will pour out.
Headshot them as well and if you don't have it after this, just reload the level and try again.

Note: Some people insist that no matter what they do, it simply won't unlock. If this happens to you, try the standard things that fix other achievements (clearing your cache, restarting your 360, etc.) or try a different sniper location.

Refer to this thread for more help, if needed.

  • Meet up with the rescue team in Washington, D.C. on Normal or Higher difficulty

Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the fourth mission.

  • Destroy all the assault blimps at the Tower Bridge on any difficulty

In the mission "Leviathan" of Act 3, where you must board the blimp, look out carefully for this one.

When you're running through the level, pick up and save as many rocket launchers as you can until you get to a part with an elevator. Exit the elevator, turn to the right and you will see two assault blimps off to your right, firing at you on the bridge.

Take them both out, they require one or two rockets each.

  • Kill 400 enemies in the campaign on any difficulty

This achievement should be unlocked before the end of the campaign the first time through. If you don't get it for whatever reason, just load up any mission and keep killing enemies, it will count your kills from before.

  • Complete the campaign on Hard difficulty

    See "Presidential Medal of Freedom".

  • Complete the campaign on Normal difficulty

    See "Presidential Medal of Freedom".

  • Complete the game on Insane Difficulty

These achievements are not stackable, so it is recommended that you start on Normal. The enemies are just as slow and stupid on every difficulty, the only difference is that you get hurt more and die a lot quicker, so just be careful and use cover wisely. If you're wondering, this is nowhere near as bad as Call of Duty's Veteran mode.

It has been confirmed that you can simply load the very last level of the game on each difficulty and get the achievements for that difficulty.

  • Make your way down to Hotal Langteau on Normal or higher difficulty

Story related, so you can't miss it. Unlocks near the beginning of the game.

  • Run!

    25

Sprint for a total of 30 minutes throughout the campaign on any difficulty

This achievement is combined throughout all of your playthroughs and you can check your progress in the Pause Menu, under 'Stats'. 30 minutes is the equivalent of 1800 seconds. You should get it before the end of your first time through the campaign, but if you're close to the end and don't have it or want it early just keep sprinting up and down a long stretch of ground or even into a wall.

  • Escape from New York on any Difficulty

Story related, so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the third mission.

  • Kill all the paratroopers as you make your way down the skyscraper on any difficulty

At the very beginning of the game, you pick up your first gun and get on a lift on the side of a building. Look behind you and kill all four paratroopers as they float down.

It is not required that you shoot the ones in the distance.

  • Sneak onto the Zeppelin on Normal or higher difficulty

Story related, so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the seventh mission.

  • Drown a German in a toilet in the Tower of London on any Difficulty

Look carefully on the sixth mission or you may miss it.

A little while into the mission, you open a secret elevator and go up... maybe down.
When you reach the top, maybe bottom, the first room on the left has two enemies in it. This room has an attached bathroom, where a Nazi is sitting on the toilet.
Grapple him with and press to dunk him.

  • Complete the campaign on any difficulty

Story related, so you can't miss it.

I recommend skipping the easy difficulty for a bunch of reasons. Mainly because the Easy difficulty doesn't have its own secondary achievement, while Normal isn't much harder and nabs you an extra 35 points. So just start on Normal and don't do Easy or it'll be a waste of time.

  • Smash an enemy's head through a TV in the White House on any Difficulty

Look carefully on the fifth mission or you may miss it.

You will come to a kitchen where a Nazi has his back to you, standing in front of a television. Grapple him with and press to smash his head through the television.

  • Finish a multiplayer game.

Simple, just go into multiplayer, find or host any game, and stay in the match until it ends.

  • Killer

    20

Get 100 ranked match kills in any mode

See "Maybe I Should Go Outside...".

  • Get 500 ranked match kills in any mode

See "Maybe I Should Go Outside...".

  • Get 2500 ranked match kills in any mode

Will take quite a while, just join or host ranked matches until you get it. Recommended weapons are the Thompson and the .45 Cal Lever Action Rifle because everything else seems useless.

It is possible to boost for this, and that may be the best choice if there's literally nobody playing. Unless you have a group of very quick and committed boosters that are absolutely flawless, it will take the same amount of time no matter how many players you have. So it is recommended to do one on one matches so you don't have to worry about everyone else getting their turn and/or leaving.

A good map to boost on is Lab Rats, and if you crouch down next to the stairs in the hallway next to the 'radio room' on the second (middle) floor, your friend will spawn nearby and you can get up to 45 kills in a 10 minute match.

  • MVP

    30

Win an 8-player ranked or player match in Team Deathmatch mode with the highest score

Host or join a player or ranked match and as long as it finishes with 8 players (and you get the highest score while on the winning team), you will get the achievement. Remember, if you start with 8 but finish with 7, it won't count.

A good idea to get people to stay is to play short player matches and build up to 8 players as you go. Once you have 8 players make the next match even shorter and win quick.

  • Fall to your death during a multiplayer game.

    Quite fun, really.

Just join any multiplayer match and jump off a high building, cliff, ledge, etc. The Ghetto map has one popular building that you will die from jumping off and Lab Rats has a fall in the 'launch room' that will kill you if you're injured before jumping.

  • Kill a player in a ranked match with the last bullet in a pistol clip.

You can get this by boosting with a friend or even finding someone who wants it in a ranked match. Just fire away all of your shots except for two and then put those last two bullets in their head up close and you will get it. However, you may want to be host when you do this because otherwise your bullets that are being fired straight into his head one foot away may not register if he's the host.

If you really want to, you can get it the 'real' way, just shoot away all of your pistol bullets except for one and when you feel an enemy is really weak switch back to your pistol and fire.

  • pwnt

    15

Finish an 8-player ranked or player match in Deathmatch mode with the highest number of kills

Host or join a player or ranked match and as long as it finishes with 8 players (and you get the highest score), you will get the achievement.

Remember, if you start with 8 but finish with 7, it won't count. A good idea to get people to stay is to play short player matches and build up to 8 players as you go.
Once you have 8 players make the next match even shorter and win quick.

  • Finish a ranked match in Deathmatch mode without dying.

Join or host any ranked match, you may want to host one with a low time and/or score limit.

Hide in a corner or just play very carefully and you will get this. Remember to do it in Deathmatch, not Team Deathmatch.

  • Win 20 ranked matches in Team Deathmatch mode.

Appears to be glitched in a good way, in that you will get it before playing 20 matches, even if you lose.

Just play ranked Team Deathmatch a few times and win them and you will get this.

  • Win 5 ranked matches in Deathmatch mode.

Appears to be glitched in a good way, in that you will get it before playing 5 matches, even if you lose.

Just play ranked Deathmatch a few times, try to win them, and you will get this.

  • Finish a multiplayer game on every map in every mode.

For this achievement, you will need to play through all four maps in both Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, totaling eight matches. You could find a boosting buddy and run through all of the maps on both modes in short player matches. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, as long as you stay in the game.
