Introduction:
We Happy Few is a comedy set in a groovy, hallucinogenic drug-fueled dystopian alternate past where Germany won World War II. Imagine BioShock, but taking place in the the middle of A Clockwork Orange, and instead of Plasmids and Milk Plus, everyone's just on mushrooms and LSD. The game takes place across three acts, which show the story played out from the perspective of three different people.
Note: The game can be done faster, but the story is incredible and would be doing yourself a disservice to skip the side missions.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
I enjoyed the story much more than I expected to, so I'm hesitant to mention anything more about the story. The plot twists and turns made it an incredibly engrossing game, to the point where my fiancée stayed up sitting on the couch watching the story with me.
I put together a walkthrough of all achievements unlocked in order at the link below. It is a combination of the great work put together by PowerPyx, Lozwans at Steam, and dec_decadi at Gameplay.
We Happy Few Playthrough Guide
You may ask yourself, but Khaos, if those great guides exist, why did you combine them all into a different guide? That's a great question, and I'm glad you're playing along. While the guides contain a great deal of great information and screenshots, they were in random orders, were three different guides that I had to flip back and forth between, and were not very user friendly for following along with. So this walkthrough will show all the different collectibles (Masks, notes, phone calls, and TV Shows), missable achievements, and overall progression in a single place to follow along with.
Roger & James in They Came From Below DLC
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
This DLC is short add-on that takes place in 1962. While experimenting with her Portals, Dr. Faraday mysteriously disappears, and only James & Roger can find her!
As you explore your house, you discover that Dr. Faraday had many more secrets than either of you ever knew about...
The game is a short straightforward story in contrast to the open world sandbox style of the base game. There is no map, traveling, side missions, or ability to get lost. Other than finding collectibles and shooting barrels/headshots, all other achievements are directly related to events in the story line.
Conclusion:
Two notes: The game is (was) heavily glitchy, however recent updates greatly improved that. However, some in-game events needed for achievements may not occur right away and may require coming back repeatedly to try again (reference Prudence phone calls or attempting to get the plague). However, I can personally guarantee this guide will work, and I have the full 1000 to show for it.
Second, maps are randomly generated, which makes specific directions challenging. There's no map screenshots I can provide to help locate items, however the in-game map is extremely helpful and has Eye Ball icons showing area names. Due to the random nature of the maps, you may encounter some collectibles before others depending on how each area generates. Do not worry, you will eventually encounter them, and as long as you haven't passed the "Point of No Return" in each Act, you can backtrack to anything you missed.
All glitches aside, I greatly enjoyed the game, the story was incredible, and playing several months of Subnautica Game Preview has hardened me to glitches. I greatly enjoyed it, and hopefully you do too!
