Introduction:
Xuan Yuan Sword 7 is an action RPG with frenetic real-time combat, visceral 3D presentation and a rich cinematic narrative. It is a celebration of ancient China’s landscape, civilization and culture, infused with the mystique of its own legends in stark contrast to anachronistic technological designs. It is a world that is both familiar and mysterious, one of both science and spirituality, one that is waiting to be explored. Take the role of the calm and reliable swordsman Taishi Zhao as he fights to protect his family and uncover the truth of a blight threatens all of China. With a story deeply rooted in ancient Chinese history and mythology, Xuan Yuan Sword 7 reimagines both as one fantastical and chaotic realm under the governance of a new Xin Dynasty.

Step 1: Complete the Game
Your main task at first should be to simply follow the story. There are a number of side-quests you can pick up along the way, but only a handful are required for the achievements (they unlock journal entries). I have listed those in Good Company (30G) below. You can free roam and complete any quests after the final boss if you'd like, and will need to grind some experience to get to Level 50, so anything you don't do here can be mopped up at that time. It's worth doing the chess games as soon as they are available to avoid backtracking though.

As you play through the game, check Elysium from time to time and upgrade what you can, as well as upgrading your weapon in the armory. If you play the game on Easy, you'll never need to worry about any other equipment as the game is a joke (except for the final boss). I followed this walkthrough which has solutions to all the chess games, puzzles, and side-quests.

MISSABLE: There is only one achievement that you can miss in the game, which is Seen It All (30G). For this, you must ensure you unlock it prior to defeating the final boss for the To End It All (15G) achievement. This is because some of the journal entries must be unlocked with the parrot in your entourage (he tells you a story), and after the final boss that character is no longer travelling with you. Be sure to sleep at camp fires until it unlocks before doing the final quest.

Step 2: Finish Journal and Level 50
You should finish the story at around Level 45 if you were diligent in killing everything in your path. There is a nice XP farming spot listed in the Power From Discipline (30G) achievement to knock out that achievement. If you were careful and did all side-quests during the story and fully upgraded Elysium and your weapon already, that should be your last achievement. If not, finish up any remaining quests or upgrades necessary now to finish off the completion.

Conclusion:
Xuan-Yuan Sword is certainly not a franchise most people will be familiar with. This is the second entry on Xbox and the first I have played (mostly because the other one was 100+ hour completion and I never could bring myself to start it). However, it's a pretty good ARPG. The Chinese mythology is a nice change of pace, and the traversal, combat, and puzzles are all really good as well. As a bonus, the achievements are extremely simple and it's a fairly quick completion as well. It has an Asian stack with English menus that you can get from a number of different stores (I got mine from Singapore), so it's worth a double dip.

  • Execute an enemy

To execute an enemy, you must first fill the white bar underneath their red health bar and then press in analog-right.png. There is a boss later in the game (a robot called B) that takes very little damage until its white bar is filled, so that is a perfect opportunity if you somehow missed all your chances before then.
  • Utilize the Elysium Rift

I'll be honest, I did not notice when this ability opened during the story. At some point, a circle with the same image as the achievement picture will show up on the right side of your screen. It will glow blue once the ability is fully charged, and if you press lb.png+button-b.png you will enter the rift, slowing combat. Do this at any time to unlock the achievement.
  • Defeat 100 Lijun enemies

Lijun enemies are the humans in military uniforms (not the rough looking bandits). You should get this naturally if you kill everything in your path, and we'll kill a whole bunch more while grinding to Level 50 as well.
  • Defeat 100 Blackflame monsters

Blackflame monsters are the grey enemies, including the small imps, larger guys with swords, or female witch types. You'll kill many more than is required for the achievement along the way, but everything respawns when you sleep at a campfire if you need to get any more.
  • Raise all characters to level 50

After completing the story, you will likely be about Level 45. There is a sewer area with quite a few strong Lijun enemies, including the mechanical lions, with a campfire right nearby to sleep and reset all the enemies. The video HERE shows this area. It should only take about 10-15 minutes to max your level.
  • Learn all martial arts

For this achievement, you must max out the main five stances that are unlocked through the story. When you have a stance equipped (from the Talent menu), using a rt.png attack will make progress toward learning new abilities in this stance. Once the bar reaches the end and the circle lights up, unlocking the stance's ultimate ability, you will have mastered that stance. Do this with the Ox, Wolf, Tiger, Bear, and Escort stances to unlock this achievement.
  • Use guard stone for the first time

Guard stones are the stone pillars that act as the game's fast-travel system. You must interact with them to clear away the leaves and activate them. Once you have found two you can move from one to the other to unlock this achievement. You will likely use these often as you travel for the story, though you could technically get everywhere on foot since the locations all connect in some way.
  • Use campfire for the first time

Campfires act as both a save point and a rest point to restore all your health, and respawn all the monsters you have defeated nearby. You will use these often to unlock journal entries and grind levels at the end of the completion.
  • Fall to your death

There are a number of places you can unlock this achievement, but the earliest I found was during the Mystic Spirits main quest in the ruins. There are number of spots you can walk off the edge and plummet to your death. Make sure you've saved recently before attempting!
  • Trade item for the first time

This one will be quite obvious. There are merchants in pretty much every village, and you'll find a few creatures inside treasure chests in the dungeons that act as merchants as well. Purchase or sell any item to unlock the achievement.
  • Catcha

    15

Imprison monster for the first time

The game will introduct this mechanic to you early on. By pressing lb.png+button-a.png in combat you can throw out a small area of effect that will trap a monster and allow you to easily kill it. Kill a monster while they are in the trap to unlock the achievement.
  • Fuse successful for the first time

Inside the Elysium tab in the menu (once it unlocks) you will find the Fusion Lab. Here you can combine any two items from your inventory and you'll get something better. Simply take two coins and combine them to unlock the achievement. You will succeed 95% of the time, and the opposite achievement for failing is unfortunately the annoying one.
  • Fuse failed for the first time

As mentioned above, failing a fusion is unfortunately fairly difficult. It is also complete RNG; there is not a guaranteed set of items that will result in a failure. Continue fusing two coins together until you get lucky enough to fail. If you run out of coins, reload your last save and try again.
  • Upgrade a building in Elysium for the first time

See Secret Base (30G) for more info.
  • Upgrade equipment for the first time

See Ultimate Weapon (30G) for more info.
  • Completely upgrade an weapon

To complete upgrade your weapon, you'll first need to upgrade the Armory in Elysium to its max level. Each level of the armory will unlock more upgrades available for the three parts of the sword. You'll need quite a few items to upgrade the armory itself and the weapon parts, but you'll also find a ton of items by defeating enemies and opening chests, and you'll have money coming out your ears by the end of the game where you could just buy anything you're missing. There is a treasure creature/merchant on a bridge just before the final boss that sells every type of upgrade item needed to max out your weapon as well as all the buildings in Elysium if you still need anything at that point.
  • Completely upgrade all Elysium buildings

Elysium is the game's version of a blacksmith/forge type of thing, located in your menu system. Here you will find different buildings that can be upgraded to get better upgrades for weapons, armor, and accessories, as well as performing fusions and harnessing souls. You'll need quite a few items to upgrade all the buildings, but you'll also find a ton of items by defeating enemies and opening chests, and you'll have money coming out your ears by the end of the game where you could just buy anything you're missing. There is a treasure creature/merchant on a bridge just before the final boss that sells every type of upgrade item needed to fully upgrade all the buildings in Elysium if you still need anything at that point.
  • Complete Character Log

The Charachter log can be found under the Journal tab in the manu. The majority of these entries will unlock through normal story progression, though there is a set of side-quests that you'll need to complete as well. These are as follows:
    • Worthy Opponents (only to unlock Family Reunion, then can stop)
    • Family Reunion (unlocks during Worthy Opponents)
    • Dark Tidings (given automatically)
    • Linza Xia Dan (given automatically)
    • Take a Guess (found in Caiyang)
    • Come back Soon (found in Kunyang)
    • Collecting Ingredients (follows Linza Xia Dan)
    • Scheme Revealed (follows Collecting Ingredients)
As mentioned in the Road Map, no quests can be missed and all will still be available when the story is complete. Be sure to tackle each chess opponent as you find them so when you get the area where Family Reunion unlocks you'll already be on that step and don't need to come back later. Also remember when completing Linza Xia Dan, to enter DOMO Studio for the Super Best Friends (30G) achievement.
  • Complete Monster Log

If you are diligent in killing everything in your path, this will unlock after beating the final boss of the game. You should kill multiple types of bandits, soldiers, wolves, blackflame enemies, and the bosses. Nothing can be missed.
  • Complete Item Log

Story related and can not be missed.
  • Complete Location Log

Every location in the game will unlock automatically during the story except for DOMO Studio. See Super Best Friends (30G) for how to access that. If you do that during the story, you'll get this achievement when you reach the final boss. If not, this will be your last one after the story is done.
  • Complete Journal Log

    *MISSABLE*

The Journal log is filled with entries that unlock when sleeping at the game's campfires. You will unlock more to see as the story progresses, but if you never sleep at the fires, they obviously won't trigger and fill in your journal. Thus, it is important to continue sleeping at the fires after defeating Liuli/Mistwalker during the "Escape" main story quest. This is when the last of the entries will be available. You NEED to fill in this part of the journal prior to completing the game's story though. Some of these journal logs are only available while you have the parrot character in your party, as he tells you a story which triggers the journal entry. Once the achievement unlocks you are safe to beat the game, as this is the only missable achievement.
  • Win a game of Zhuolu chess for the first time

This will unlock during the "Worthy Opponents" side-quest. See the video I linked in the Road Map for solutions to all the chess matches. The AI will respond with specific moves and you can beat them using the same "solution" as the person in the video does.
  • Enter the DOMO studio

To unlock this special area, you must first complete the "Linza Xia Dan" side-quest. As soon as you do, turn around in this small room where you found the treasure chest to see a little girl standing there. Continue interacting with her until she speaks to you and gives you an item. A large purple glowing spot will appear next to her, and interacting with that will teleport you to DOMO Studios. There is nothing needed inside achievement-wise, so you can immediately leave if you don't want to explore.
