Introduction:
Yooka-Laylee, the spiritual successor to Rare's classic Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie platformers, is finally here. The game follows protagonists Yooka and Laylee, and their adventure of retrieving the pages of their lost book and taking down an evil corporation's CEO. There are five game worlds to explore throughout the game, each of which contains various collectibles such as Pagies and Quills. There are also thirty-five achievements, most of which involve collecting items and defeating bosses. Get ready to dive into this nostalgic adventure!

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Play the game at your own pace. The achievements in this game are very easy and come naturally with collectible obtainment. Visit each Tome World and collect as many items as possible. These items include Pagies, Quills, Ghost Writers, Power Extender Items, Health Extender Items, Mollycools, and Pirate Treasures. Keep in mind that you won't be able to collect everything during your first visit of a level, though; you will need to expand each Tome World at some point to access new areas.

Additionally, you should aim to seek out the various NPCs in each level. These NPCs include: Trowzer, who teaches you new abilities; Rextro, who allows you to play Arcade Games; Dr. Puzz, who transforms you into different objects; Kartos, who hosts a mine cart mini-game challenge; and Vendi, who allows you to equip powerful Tonics. Lastly, once you are able to, make sure to confront and defeat the boss of each level.

After obtaining 100 Pagies, you will be able to take on Capital B, the final boss of the game. If you want to mop-up missing collectibles before doing this, you can do just that. You can also mop-up anything you may have missed after defeating him, so don't worry about missing anything before the final fight.

Mop-Up:
Towards the end of the game, or after defeating Capital B, you may be missing a few collectibles and achievements. As such, go ahead and jump back into any of the Tome Worlds to grab what's missing. This could be any collectible item that was previously inaccessible due to not having a certain ability from Trowzer, finishing up the requirements for Vivendi's Tonics, or beating the high scores in Rextro's Arcade Games.

Conclusion:
Yooka-Laylee is an enjoyable platformer with a very manageable achievement list. There aren't too many difficult feats, but some of the Arcade Game high scores will test your patience. Nevertheless, in around twenty-five hours, the game's completion can be yours.

There are 35 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Collect your first Pagie

This achievement is essentially story-related and cannot be missed.

Please refer below to "From someone else's book" for more information

  • Collect 30 Pagies

Please refer below to "From someone else's book" for more information.

  • Collect 75 Pagies

Please refer below to "From someone else's book" for more information.

  • Collect all 145 Pagies

In order to unlock this achievement, you will need to collect all 145 Pagies in the game. There are 20 Pagies in the hub world and 25 Pagies within each of the five Tome Worlds.

A large chunk, if not all of the Pagies you collect will come from the completion of platforming puzzles, deep exploration, and finishing up small quests for the various NPCs within each level. It's worth noting that some Pagies may be inaccessible until you purchase specific abilities or expand the Tome Worlds. Don't worry, you can always revisit levels at any time to collect anything you may have missed during your first visit.

Take note that there are five Pagies in each Tome World that are obtained in the same way.

    1. Collect all 200 Quills in a level for 1 Pagie
    2. Collect all 5 Ghost Writers in a level for 1 Pagie
    3. Finish Retro's Arcade game in a level for 1 Pagie
    4. Set a high score in Retro's Arcade game in a level for 1 Pagie
    5. Successfully complete Karto's Mine Cart mini-game in a level for 1 Pagie

Once you have obtained all 145 Pagies in the game, this achievement will unlock.

NOTE: If you require a video guide for a specific level in order to help you find any missing Pagies, feel free to refer to THIS VIDEO PLAYLIST, courtesy by BeardBear.

  • Purchase a move from Trowzer

This achievement is nearly story-related and cannot be missed.

Please refer below to "Sssmashing" for more information.

  • Purchase all of Trowzer’s moves

Throughout Hivory Towers, the hub world of the game, and in each Tome World, you will find Trowzer, an NPC who will teach you new abilities in exchange for Quills.

For the purpose of this achievement, the abilities learned for free throughout the hub world itself do not count; abilities purchased with Quills within Tome Worlds are those that count towards this achievement. You will need a total of 470 Quills in order to obtain all of the abilities from Trowzer.

Once you have purchased every ability in the game, this achievement will unlock.

  • Unlock and equip a Tonic

Please refer below to "Potion Commotion" for more information.

  • Unlock 15 Tonics

Throughout Hivory Towers, the hub world of the game, and in each Tome World, you will find Vendi, an NPC who offers special game modifiers known as Tonics.

These Tonics are unlocked by performing specific actions and feats over the course of your playthrough, such as collecting a certain number of Pagies or Quills or defeating a certain number of enemies. You can refer below to a detailed checklist on how to unlock each Tonic.

    • Wellard - Collect 5 Pagies
    • Baller - Defeat 100 enemies
    • Super Slam - Stun 30 enemies with Sonar Shot
    • Bruiser - Collect 10 Pagies in Hivory Towers
    • Livewire - Beat Rextro's High Scores in 3 Arcade Machines
    • Fallproof - Collect 10 Ghost Writers
    • Hoarder - Collect 300 Quills
    • Salmon - Defeat 10 Corplet Marines (enemies that are located underwater)
    • Hunter - Collect 2 Health Extenders or 2 Power Extenders
    • Loaded - Collect 15 Ghost Writers
    • Peekaboo - Defeat 10 I.N.E.P.T. enemies (Corplet Security)
    • Butterthree - Defeat Capital B
    • Helium - Defeat Capital B
    • Athlete - Defeat Capital B
    • Pants - Collect all 145 Pagies in the game

Once you unlock all 15 Tonics in the game, this achievement will unlock.

  • Collect all 6 health extender items

Within each Tome World, you can find health extender items, which, as the name suggests, increase your maximum health. These items are small metallic butterflies that are well-hidden throughout each level.

If you are having trouble finding the health extender items in each level, refer to THIS VIDEO GUIDE, courtesy of BeardBear. Also, take note that some of these items are only available once you have expanded a Tome World and have certain abilities.

Once you have collected all six health extender items in the game, this achievement will unlock.

  • Collect all 6 power extender items

Within each Tome World, you can find power extender items, which, as the name suggests, increase your power meter. These items are small green and purple lightening bolts that are well-hidden throughout each level.

If you are having trouble finding the power extender items in each level, refer to THIS VIDEO GUIDE, courtesy of BeardBear. Also, take note that some of these items are only available once you have expanded a Tome World and have certain abilities.

Once you have collected all six power extender items in the game, this achievement will unlock.

  • Get transformed by Dr. Puzz for the first time

Throughout each of the Tome Worlds, you will find Dr. Puzz, an NPC who has the ability to transform you into specifically random objects. Though odd, these transformations are necessary in order to access new areas of a level and, at other times, solve puzzles that yield Pagies upon completion. In order to transform, however, you will need to find a "Mollycool" within the Tome World and give it to Dr. Puzz. These items appear as molecules with atoms spinning around them. Once you have one, speak with the Doctor and she will transform you.

This achievement is technically story-related and cannot be missed since you will need to transform prior to the fifth boss fight in the game. Once you have transformed for the first time, this achievement will unlock.

If you are having trouble finding the Mollycools in each level, refer to THIS VIDEO GUIDE, courtesy of BeardBear.

  • Complete one of Kartos’s minecart challenges

Throughout each of the Tome Worlds, you will find Kartos, an NPC who will offer one Pagie for the completion of his, at-times difficult, minecart challenges. In order to complete these challenges successfully and earn that Pagie, you will need to collect a certain amount of gems throughout the minecart ride. The color of the gems indicate their worth: blue gems are worth one point and yellow gems are worth five points. Take note that during the mini-game, you will need to dodge many obstacles along the ride. If you get hit, you will lose some of your gems, which makes this rather difficult.

This achievement is technically story-related and cannot be missed since you will need to complete the minecart challenge in the fourth level in order to fight that level's boss.

If you are having trouble successfully completing any of Kartos' minecart challenges in each of the levels, refer to THIS VIDEO GUIDE, courtesy of Caticulated.

Once you have successfully completed any of the minecart challenges for the first time, this achievement will unlock.

  • Successfully complete one of Rextro’s arcade games

Throughout each of the Tome Worlds, you will find Rextro, an NPC who can be found next to oversized arcade machines. For the purposes of this achievement, all that is required is to complete one of these arcade games. In order to play an arcade game, however, you will need to find a "Play Coin" within the Tome World and give it to Rextro. These items appear as large, yellow coins with a blue "Play" symbol on them. Once you have one, speak with Rextro and you will then be able to play the game.

Once you have completed any one arcade game, this achievement will unlock.

  • Get the high score in one of Rextro's Arcade Games

Upon completing one of Rextro's Arcade Games for the first time, he will offer another Pagie if you are able to beat the high score in that game. At this time, start up the Arcade Game, review the controls, and check out the leaderboard. This is where you can see the high score you are aiming to beat. There's no set strategy to earn a game's high score, so just keep at it and hone your skills until you are able get it done.

Once you get the high score in any of the Arcade Games, this achievement will unlock.

  • Collect your first Ghost Writer

Please refer below to "Grabbed the ghouls" for more information.

  • Collect every Ghost Writer in the Grand Tome worlds

In each of the Tome Worlds, there are five Ghost Writers that must be collected for this achievement. Each of the Ghost Writers are a different color, with each color being obtained in a specific manner.

For example, blue Ghost Writers are invisible but can be revealed with the "Sonar Shot" ability; green Ghost Writers will always run away and require you to chase them down; pink Ghost Writers must be fed a Bomb Berry or a Frost Berry before you can collect them; red Ghost Writers must be attacked until they become docile and ready to collect; yellow Ghost Writers don't move and thus are the easiest to obtain.

If you are having trouble finding any of the Ghost Writers in each of the levels, refer to THIS VIDEO GUIDE, courtesy of BeardBear.

Once you have collected all 25 Ghost Writers in the game, this achievement will unlock.

  • Collect your first 200 Quills

Please refer below to "Had one's Quill" for more information.

  • Collect 500 Quills

Please refer below to "Had one's Quill" for more information.

  • Collect all 1,010 Quills

In order to unlock this achievement, you will need to collect all 1,010 Quills in the game. There are 10 Quills in the starting area, Shipwreck Shore, hidden inside breakable boxes, and then 200 Quills in each of the five Tome Worlds.

Mostly all of the Quills you collect will come from natural exploration of a level. It's worth noting that some Quills may be inaccessible until you purchase specific abilities or expand the Tome Worlds. Don't worry, you can always revisit levels at any time to collect anything you may have missed during your first visit.

As an added tip, be sure to unlock and equip the "Hunter" Tonic as soon as possible. This Tonic is extremely helpful in hunting down items as there will be a signal/pinging sound when you are near a Quill.

Once you have obtained all 1,010 Quills in the game, this achievement will unlock.

NOTE: If you require a video guide for a specific level in order to help you find any missing Quills, feel free to refer to THIS VIDEO PLAYLIST, courtesy by BeardBear.

  • Unlock the first Grand Tome world

This achievement is story-related and will unlock when you unlock and enter the first Tome World, Tribalstack Tropics.

  • Unlock every Grand Tome world

This achievement is story-related and will unlock when you unlock and enter the fifth Tome World, Galleon Galaxy.

  • Expand a Grand Tome world

Please refer below to "Super Sized" for more information.

  • Complete one of Dr. Quack’s Quackfire Quizzes

This achievement is story-related and cannot be missed.

As you progress through the game and make your way to the second Tome World, you will pass through a colorful room and be stopped by Dr. Quack. In order to proceed, you will need to pass a randomly generated quiz that he has created. For each question you answer correctly, you are allowed to advance to the next "block" in the room. If you answer his questions quickly enough, you are allowed to advance by two "blocks." Answer a question incorrectly, however, and you'll earn a strike; earn three strikes and you will have to start back from the beginning.

The questions that are asked in these quizzes usually pertain to how many collectibles or power-up items you have collected at that point in the game, specific inquiries on certain NPCs, details of a certain Tome World's level design, and other nonsensical questions.

Feel free to visit THIS GUIDE, created by Trophy Germany on the sister site, for the answers to all possible quiz questions.

Once you have passed the first quiz, this achievement will unlock.

  • Defeat Capital B at the end of the game

This achievement is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Defeat the World 1 boss

This achievement is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Defeat the World 2 boss

This achievement is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Defeat the World 3 boss

This achievement is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Defeat the World 4 boss

This achievement is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Defeat the World 5 boss

This achievement is story-related and cannot be missed.

  • Disrespect the Idol

In order to unlock this achievement, you will need to have learned/unlocked the "Buddy Slam" ability from Trowzer.

Once you know this ability, head to lobby of Hivory Towers. You should notice a giant, golden statue of Capital B in the middle of the room. From here, use the platforms around the room to climb your way to the top of the statue. Now stand on Capital B's nose and perform the "Buddy Slam" ability. This will break the nose and in turn, unlock the achievement (and reveal a Power Extender, too).

  • Expand three Grand Tome worlds

Please refer below to "Super Sized" for more information.

  • Expand all five Grand Tome worlds

In order to expand a Tome World, you will need to stand in front of its "book" inside Hivory Towers and "pay" a certain amount of Pagies. In turn, this will make the book visibly larger, and also present you with a cutscene the next time you enter that Tome World. This cutscene will show you all of the new locations that have been unlocked and that have become accessible by expanding the level. What's more, it will also allow you to finally take on that level's boss.

Once you expand the fifth Tome World, this achievement will unlock.
