Atari has announced that its 1982 Atari 2600 classic, Haunted House, is set to undergo a “roguelite revival” and stealth-horror adventure reimagining, care of Retro Machina developer Orbit Studio.

Promising to remain “spooky to its core”, the Haunted House revival is due to launch next month, introducing modern trappings to the classic formula, for a “unique” 2D isometric horror experience that will both put your stealth prowess and strategical precision to the test. There's a bit of “light combat”, too.

Haunted House will see you playing as Lyn Graves, niece of renowned treasure hunter Zachary Graves, looking into the truth behind her uncle's disappearance. You'll have to contend with unpredictable enemies, shifting walls, and supernatural jump scares, as well as roguelite elements. That means if you succumb to a malevolent spirit, it's back to the mansion entrance for you, with a new floor layout and rearranged foes.

Haunted House is scheduled to release for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Atari VCS on 12th October.
