Developer Turtle Rock Studios has announced that it is ending development on Back 4 Blood.

Back 4 Blood was first released back in 2021 as a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, and has gone on to receive three DLC expansions - Tunnels of Terror, Children of the Worm, and River of Blood. However, Turtle Rock is now winding down development on the game, as it moves onto its next project.

“This phase of our war against the Ridden now comes to a close,” said the statement.

“Turtle Rock Studios is actually pretty small for a studio making AAA games. We don’t have quite enough folks to continue working on Back 4 Blood content while we spin up another game – yes, another game! Given this, it’s time for us to put our heads down, get back in the lab, and get to work on the next big thing.”

While development on the game is wrapping up, Back 4 Blood will continue to be available in full for all players. Just don't expect any major new content anytime soon.

  • I really enjoyed the game, got the base 1000 pretty quickly but didn't have any interest in going back afterwards. They changed the difficulty too many times and I just lost interest.
