SFIV: Arcade Edition's HUGE Patch Detailed, Trailered

There’s a huge patch coming to Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition on December 13th. It’s called, rather grandly, “Version 2012.”

To accompany the patch, Capcom has released a trailer giving a brief overview of the various balances and fiddles to expect. But if that’s not enough for you, the Capcom Unity website is hosting a PDF with all the patch notes in full. You can grab it here.

It’s a remarkably robust patch, effectively overhauling vast reams of the character list. In fact, now we come to think of it, how often does a publisher release a trailer for a patch? Not often, is the answer.

  • Oh well, since we get teaser trailers for incoming trailers I guess trailers for patches are okay, too! )
  • How many times are they gonna release this fucking game?
  • How can you moan about a free update?
  • @2 Not a re-release, just a patch you fool of a took.
  • @2 Why bother to post if you clearly arent interested in this game? As for me im glad they nerf the retarded Hong Kong Connection (Yun,Yang,Fei Long)... I still dont get why they nerf my Akuma though :/
  • still karin missing...
  • I'm surprised. Capcom aren't re-branding and re-selling the game. Good for them.
  • i liked it when you used to just jump around punching, kicking, and throwing fireballs. none of this cancelling and dashing and super this and that. 1992, where are you?
  • SSFIVAE2012 is the new longest sf acronym! Even better than SSF2THDR! Chun-Li's toe taps should be easier to do now, so I am excited for that
  • @#4 nice reference...thank you for today's laugh.
  • @2 coming from someone with a CoD gamer pic!?! Fail
  • Glad this is coming. The AE Update almost killed the game, so a free re-balance was necessary. SSFIV is still my most played game to date, can't wait to get my hands on this update!
  • @9: They can be equally as long acronyms, you just wrote 'four' in Roman numbers whereas you wrote 'two' in Arabic numbers. You could subtract 2012 to just 12 or '12 and possibly put V for version in the end. SSFIVAE12 SSFIITHDR
  • @ 11 Coming from someone who has a FF gamnerpic! Fail
  • @5..Thank you, so tired of Yun and Yang and their BS.
  • @2 its free . fuck off, idiot.
  • @14 what? Why are there so many stupid people on the internet?
  • Love at the end of the clip.. Yun: "Not bad at all" Ryu: "Shoryuken" Lolz
  • You know they wanted to re-release this on disc under the title Ultimate Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Version 2012 Edition
  • Wow. Just wow. They actually made it a point to tell us it's free, as if there could be confusion that they or might charge for an update.
  • I'm pretty sure you'll find a HUGE patch if you get just past Chun-Li's meaty thighs...
  • thankfully this is a patch and not a re release.usually an update like this means you were buying a whole new game, not trying to be a dick ,just telling the truth :P.
  • awww no backwards-flying dragon punches?? XD
  • And Capcom couldn't release a balance patch for MvC3, why?
  • All you Adon users out there thumbs up for his changes, he's gonna be a monster now
  • @14: Coming from someone who hasn't even linked their gamertag to their forum profile?!?!?! FAIL
  • @23 ahh I see what you did there :D
  • @ 26 I have actually moron. If you noticed in the last 3 months the gamertags on this site is messed up.
  • Also, it seems like your gamercard isn't showing up either. Just like half of the community.
  • So is this patch for the 8 people that still play this game seriously? LOL
  • @30 Actually SF4 is still very popular if it wasn't capcom wouldn't have wasted their time. LOL
  • Play this game more than any other and there are lots of people still online both novice and expert, expect that to increase for a few weeks after the patch also. Hyped for this, just wish they still had Championship mode like in Vanilla
