Yes! This must happen! First game I ever played on XBL, let's just hope they keep the Halo 2 MP and not tack on a Reach map pack.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:39 PM
Can't be? Am I in heaven...?Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:40 PM
Fantastic news, although i hope they don't mess with the Halo 2 soundtrack, its pretty much perfect as it is. Breaking Benjamin FTW!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:40 PM
Halo? take my moneyFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:40 PM
This was by far my favorite Halo. I really hope this is true!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:41 PM
Awesome news! Only thing I ask is they give it some time before they release it that way we can all enjoy Halo 4 and its 8GB worth of installments! Hopefully this is true though and I can't wait to hear more news in the coming weeks!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:41 PM
This is my favorite Halo game. However, that was largely due to the fun glitches. I think that this game is far too new to need a new version.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:42 PM
I'm guessing it would be coming out in 2014 to go with the 10 year anniversary of its release.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:42 PM
I'M THROWING MY MONEY AT THE SCREEN, BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING!!!!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:43 PM
Why wouldnt they make it? Money for them, great game for us. Stop with the teasing and just let us know when we're going to suspect playing this.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:43 PM
I wanna cry!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:45 PM
@10, Yeah i'm sure its Microsoft "milking" the franchise, oh right, the FANS asked for the remake not Microsoft, and the fans have asked for this as well.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:45 PM
Hurray! Best news all dayFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:45 PM
iv heard of this before but didnt expect this would be great if this is for real.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:46 PM
Number 9, Take your meds and put your helmet back on.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:46 PM
@10 - it's people like you that make me want to shoot someone...Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:49 PM
HmmFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:50 PM
On topic, hopefully it'll be 4 player co-op instead of 2. But, the original was only 2 player split screen, no online, so chances are slim.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 03:51 PM
I wasn't a fan of 2 but it makes sense why they'd make this one - it's the only other original Xbox Halo game. It's not like they're going to remake Halo 3 in HD, right? (p.s. not looking to start anything with that question)Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:01 PM
Wow fantastic news but if it is Halo 2 Anniversary does that mean we have to wait till the 10 year annual date? Either way great news and wow leave it to number 10 to make great news sound like a bad thing...Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:02 PM
Nice to see 343 fucking up a series. 4 is going to be fucking Call of Duty, so sure, let's get some fucking remakes.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:04 PM
Please have its own multiplayer. Please have its own multiplayer. Please have its own multiplayer. Please have its own multiplayer. Please have its own multiplayer. Please don't convert to H2 vista. SUPER BOUNCE!!!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:06 PM
Sweet. I don't even need a new HD version, I just want to play some online coop on Xbox Live.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:23 PM
Would make perfect sense. Halo 4 in 2012,Halo 2 remake in 2013,which gives them time to make Halo 5 for 2014.Its like wacktivision or boodysoft do for call of duty and assassin's creedFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:26 PM
@17 if the news is to be believed games like halo makes you want to shoot people!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:28 PM
ill quote lebron james on winning the championship.... "its about damn time"Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:35 PM
#1 my thoughts exactly. It needs to retain it's entire MP selection. It was excusable for CE, but not here.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:42 PM
@25 While you're right on the first account, I wouldn't be putting my bets on a Halo 5 release for 2015. Its been stated that development for Halo 4 stretched as far back as 2009, not too long after 343 was formed and it was announced Bungie would be quitting the franchise. Given that the bigger titles get an average 3 year development cycle, I'd be looking at what we saw with Anniversary and 4, 2014 with H2:A and then Halo 5 in 2015 on the next console. There's every possiblity Halo 2 could be re-released next year, in reality its anyones guess as this is just the first tidbit of info and until 343 reveals more we can only speculate.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:43 PM
I imagine that if this goes the route of Anniversary it will be an add-on for Halo 4 not Reach. But either way that's definitely something they should NOT do. They NEED to keep the original Halo 2 multiplayer. That will be the day I start playing (and enjoying) multiplayer again.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:45 PM
And yes I am all for a return to Halo 2 multiplayer but knowing Moneysoft, it'll be about costs and it'll just be a tack on of the Halo 4 multiplayer, meaning 6 of the best maps from the original put into 4's list of maps. Here's hoping 343 really and truly hears what the fans want and puts out. However unlikely it might be, let our voices be heard and listened to 343i.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:45 PM
this is the most glorious news x360a has shared in my time being a member :')Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:50 PM
Tried to play halo 2 on my PC but playing a remastered version would be a godsend, experiencing the opening when he first puts on the new armor ManFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:53 PM
please let it have its own mp engine instead of using halo reach's or i guess they wud use halo 4's... let it use its own engine!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:53 PM
Sweet, I hope they do. It will mean another stackable game since I already finished it on PC.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 04:57 PM
MS make this happen!...Best Halo game ever!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:09 PM
Ok, seriously, who didn't see this coming a mile away? Not that I'm complaining, I'd love to see this remake just saying this isn't exactly a surprise and it will come as certain as ...dammit, missing a good metaphor here...Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:09 PM
Will the co-op be riddled with awful input lag like the Halo 1 anniversary was?Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:10 PM
It'd be wonderful if it they really went all in and made Acts 2 and 3. Forerunner tank, anyone?Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:14 PM
But this is on the pc with achievements already, and not that out of date. I will still get it of course as it's a great game, but halo: ce anniversary is just that, rereleased with achievements on their 10 year anniversary. Just doesn't seam right :sFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:15 PM
Halo 2 on the 360 with achievements sweet, (yes I know that Halo 2 on the PC has achievements), wonder if they will be the same, can play them all back 2 backFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:21 PM
Oh god yes!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:24 PM
last gen polygons and gameplay dont improve anymore than they were when it was first made. all these HD remakes suck, the Chronicles of Riddick which is not a mindless shooter or button masher which Halo, God of War, Devil May Cry...ect, then u had SplinterCell which was already made irrelevant with Conviction's gameplay but they didnt even fix the ability to switch camera axis for christ sakes...none of the testers seemed to think that might be an issue or they just didnt want to spend the time to edit some coding then you had Metal Gear Solid with its outdated cover system mechanic which is a major aspect of the entire game among countless other issues like the fact you're forced to sit thru hours of 1990s era "cut scenes" and then get to go back to playing a 1990s era standard of gameplay....id rather just play MGS4...no actually i dont cause its still all those same issues but in 1080p and 5.1(or was it 7.1 FLAC since its on TEH BLU RAIZE wit so much disc spaice) and i stopped after 30 minutes(of gameplay which probably took 5 REAL hours into "playing" MGS4 since it was 30 seconds of crawl here then 30 minute cutscene-repeat) but nobody is going to play Halo 2 online for any length of time when you get the same exact gameplay in 3 ODST REACH, or any of the 5 COD games since 2007 (MW1 which is still on Major Nelson top 20)Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:28 PM
This is BS. If they bring this back w/ its original multiplayer when they left the original multiplayer out of CEA I'm gonna be pissed. That was the best multiplayer gameplay the Halo franchise ever saw, and the only legitimate reason for a remake of Halo 1, yet they left it out. Halo 1 fans had been asking for Halo 1 on XBL since that piece of crap Halo 2 came out and they got slapped in the face with CEA not featuring real Halo 1 multiplayer. If Halo 2 aniv. comes out with the original multiplayer it will be the final insult for fans of the original.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:29 PM
Oh, #43, MW finally fell off Major Nelson's top 20. Blame hackers for that.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:29 PM
Yes!! Without a doubt Halo 2 is still the best Halo game, that game brings back so many good memories. :)Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:30 PM
only if it is actually 100% original just like How Halo 2 was in the Single Player and Multi-player. i would buy this sooo fast.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:32 PM
@12 tears of joy hopefully!!! OT: I so hope this is true!!!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:33 PM
OMFG!!!! YES! They better have teh classis multiplayer and not reach multiplayer. Im more excited for this than halo 4 :)Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:34 PM
Really? More recycling Halo? You can already play Halo 2 on PC for achievements. This is getting beyond ridiculous. Greedy lazy developer just looks for easy money.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:36 PM
My bet is on having Halo 4 multiplayer in the same way that Halo: CEA had Halo Reach multiplayer, and bringing a large Halo 2 map pack to Halo 4.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:51 PM
Probably 2014.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 05:59 PM
@ 50, lazy developers? please, gain an education in programming and develop a video game for us...343i wants to satisfy their fans by all means and this will be a make good profit for them. If you don't like the idea of a Halo 2 remakes, don't buy it. simple as that.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:03 PM
hope this is true I loved playing Halo CE Anniversary and would like to play with my friends in Halo 2 Anniversary.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:09 PM
I agree with #38, Im all for a remake of Halo 2, the remake of Halo 1 was absolutely perfect... apart from the ridiculous ammount of lag when playing co op online. I got used to it in the end (by helping 3 different friends play throught the game) but it would be totally unacceptable if this happened again. I also wanna get this because its the only Halo Ive never completed Legendary Solo, I always ran out of ammo really early on and got owned by Elites, but this time achievements are at stake so those same Elites are gonna get their arses kickedFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:17 PM
@ people moaning about 8 gigs. Go install Lost Odyssey or Star Ocean and watch that 8 gig turn into 30+ gigs. Now cheer up :)Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:20 PM
Just finished Halo 2 on PC but I'll buy halo 2 anniversaryFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:21 PM
Never got to play Halo 2 MP as I didn't have XBL, couldn't be more excited for this release!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:21 PM
@1 They won't tack on a Reach pack... but they'll probably tack on a Halo 4 pack. I already have this on PC, so I have no need for it really... but it's Halo, so what the hell!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:24 PM
Please God, keep the original multiplayer on disc...Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:30 PM
Almost stroked out when i saw this. DO NOT TOUCH OR TWEEK ANYTHING BUT GRAPHICS GOD DAMNT. Ill pay 150 bucks if they do thatFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:32 PM
Glad this news is making others happy. Definitely not trying to troll, but this was my least favorite of the original trilogy. And the news has me kind of worried with where this Halo remake craze is going to end. Or if...Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:33 PM
Excellent news as far as I'm concerned. I'm guessing a 2014 release on the Xbox 720 (or whatever it's going to be called). It'll be nice to have both original Xbox Halos brought up to the graphical and sound standard of the rest of the series.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:35 PM
@53 I don't plan on buying it. Doesn't stop the fact that they are lazy and only doing it for easy money. The series has been done to death, now they are just re releasing Halo 1, Halo 2, whats next? Halo 3 again? You fanboys would be just foolish enough to buy that again too lol.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:42 PM
Awesome then i can play coop with my friend through all the halo games Please make this happen!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:42 PM
Hope this happens. Never played it when it 1st came out.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 06:46 PM
@64 then why click on the article? So you can talk shit and piss people off? Well congratulations you've won the prize.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 07:09 PM
A special edition would be nice this time around, as well as theater and custom games perhaps.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 07:12 PM
HEY IT'S STILL A RUMOUR!!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 07:18 PM
@69 Rumours these days are pretty much official confirmations.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 07:18 PM
Very nice!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 07:24 PM
Sounds good. It was pretty cool catching up with Halo:CE Anniversary a few months ago. Let's hope the achievement list is as stellar as the the first!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 07:55 PM
Skipped Halo:CE Anniversary with no hard feelings, but DAMN I will buy this day one. Loved Halo 2's campaign and Multiplayer is what brought me to XBL.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 07:57 PM
I need to hurry with those online Halo 2 PC achievements then. I just need some multiplayer ones.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 08:19 PM
im telling you ppl, originality in games is gone. the decline of video games has started. companies are exploiting consumers with all these remakes and hd versions. keep handing your money over, you'll see...Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 08:36 PM
If fans ask for it, 343i will eventually respond. We know how many of us loved Halo 2. It's practically the game that started Xbox live. And a ton of us want a HD remake now that we've seen how well 343i did with Halo: CEA.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 08:40 PM
@ 64, you actually are going to say that they're going to make an HD remake on a 360 game for the 360...? you're logic is awesome! as my previous comment stated, if you don't like it, don't buy it...Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 08:45 PM
This is good news (:Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 09:01 PM
DONT MESS WITH MARTY O DONNEL'S SOUNDTRACK. THE RE-ORCHESTRATED MUSIC WAS BULLCRAP COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL IN ANNIVERSARY.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 10:12 PM
No shit, I think anyone could've told you this.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 10:15 PM
YES!Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 10:28 PM
Let's hope the coop isn't lagged to hell.Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 10:46 PM
Halo 2 ruined everything that was halo to me, The 1st halo was awesome! the rest not so much.... heheFriday, July 06, 2012 @ 11:19 PM
@79 You do know that there was an option to listen to the original soundtrack rather than the new one, right?Friday, July 06, 2012 @ 11:29 PM
It won't have its own multiplayer because they wouldn't want to split up the community. It would be better off if they integrated the maps into Halo 4 multiplayer because they will create playlists that make the maps play like Halo 2 multiplayer. They did the same thing with the Anniversary, but everyone was too busy being idiots and complaining to even notice the new playlists...Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:29 AM
this was my favorite halo and still is. id love to play this again. but personally i dont think it should have a multiplayer, just the campaign, and the slight discounted price like halo: cea.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:34 AM
Sure, why not.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:37 AM
Hope this is true! I was one of the unfortunate ones who never got to play Halo 2, so this would frickin' awesome. And I'd also like to add that I'm actually playing CE: Anniversery as I type this, only missing two cheevos... how convenient.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:42 AM
@85 I disagree. With Anniversary, there was no Xbox LIVE multiplayer in the original game in the first place, and they were trying not to add or remove anything big, so they gave a Reach map pack with Halo: CE maps. With Halo 2, I'm sure they will have a separate multiplayer, because they don't want to remove such a huge part.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:48 AM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO why :( ??! They should just leave it be, i understood with Halo C.E. , but not halo 2 my childhood game I grew up with. This game is awesome as it is, there is no need for "remastering to the current times". They should just leave it be on the original xbox, like they should of left the first crysis on the PC. I am now beginning to think that 343 is just gona try to milk the series..Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:49 AM
Good news, but the campaign was the weakest in the series. And chances are, they'll do what they did with Halo 1 Anniversary, which is just take some of the good maps from that game and bring them over to whichever Halo is relevant at the time (in this case, it will be Halo 4), instead of actually letting us play Halo 2 MP again, which was the reason everybody loved 2 to start with. I don't just want some of the maps with a tweaked Halo 4 ruleset to "feel" more like Halo 2.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 01:07 AM
I never played Halo 2. Only Halo 3 and Reach. Can't wait to play it. xDSaturday, July 07, 2012 @ 01:44 AM
Truthfully in my opinion, there should be no remastering, just turn on the live features for the original and start shipping out new copies of it. Don't need to turn on live for all the other original xbox games just do it for Halo 2 and that would be awesome.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:02 AM
this dream is so wonderful, when will i wake up?Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:04 AM
Sounds good, I never got a chance to play the MP online against other people. Hope it's true.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:08 AM
Sounds good to me, I actually just bought the PC version to get the achievements so Ill be able to get even more lol.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:19 AM
Yes!!!!! Was hoping they would do this.. now the series will be complete on 360. Never got to play this game unfortunatelySaturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:30 AM
Ive been wanting this since the 360 came out and halo 2 was eventually forgotten about :/ i saw this post and i got on the phone and re-kindled a past memory that brought me to XBL. i played this game every day and now i can go back to when xbox live was good, before MW came out and made XBL gay . Bring back the greatest xbox game ever published!!Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:56 AM
Greatest multiplayer of all time! I will play this game 99% of the time i'm on live.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 03:22 AM
For all you kids who don't know this.halo 2 is hands down the best game ever invented.the onlines ranking system was outstanding and the campaign blew me away.this is the best news I heard in a whileSaturday, July 07, 2012 @ 03:53 AM
This was the only HALO game I never got to play so i'm glad that I will soon.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 03:55 AM
Not the best game overall, but surely the best Multiplayer ever created. Althought I doubt they will give this game a multiplayer, only Halo REACH or Halo 4 Map additions.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 03:57 AM
YES finally! this is even better than sex oow yes halo 2 i love you 343!Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 04:01 AM
People shouldn't get their hopes up in thinking it will have H2 multiplayer, it will more than likely have tweaked Halo 4 multiplayer.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 04:11 AM
@104 Why? If they are re-imaging Halo 2, why would they use Halo 4s MP and not Halo 2's MP?Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 04:26 AM
@105 For the same reasons they didn't include Halo 1 MP with CEA, too much time and money, networking issues, splitting the community.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 05:24 AM
WOOOOOO! I loved the Halo CE Remake it was awesome im am defo buying this one.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 05:47 AM
That would be ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 06:52 AM
Halo 2 is probably my favorite game of all time, with that said, I hope 343 does it some justice, and leaves the game-play intact. Actually, leave everything intact. The game is about as close to perfect as a shooter can be.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 07:00 AM
If this has halo 4 multiplayer and not the original Halo 2 multiplayer, I am going to throw my xbox off of a cliff and into the ocean, then forget about gaming forever.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 07:03 AM
Just port the original, byte for byte, and save the community from having to complain and hate 343 forever.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 08:07 AM
*Sigh* Really, a remake of this is great and all, but it just makes me lament that we never got a remake of GTA 3, only iOS did... now that, I would buy in seconds :(Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 08:18 AM
Here's the way I see it with all these remakes... If the game cost ~$20 I would probably buy it. I just don't see the point in paying a full $65 for a game that I already played, and is 10 years old.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 08:30 AM
@113 Then don't buy it?Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 08:37 AM
@110 - So long as you film it as proof. Pointless hyperbole is pointless.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 09:24 AM
Anyone feel they should leave the original engine untouched 'if' they do remake this? Part of the fun for me on Halo 2 multiplayer was the glitches lol. I'm not one to cheat in video games, but I never really saw super jumping as cheating. Me and my friends would have custom game lobbies for hours just super jumping and shooting the shit with each other. For me, that was the 'most' fun I've had on Xbox Live to date. While I wish they would've actually implemented super jumping as part of the newer games' engines, sort of as an easter egg....an homage to Halo 2, I always knew that was too good to be true. It's a bit dodgy that super jumps were actually "bugs", considering all the steps you had to do to actually pull them off. Crouch in a corner, take 2 steps back, jump backwards and land on a very specific part of the map. I still have a hard to believing that those were accidental additions lol. But yeah, fuck it. Bring it on! If anything, the multiplayer maps alone (Coagulation, Warlock, etc) would be a great addition to Halo 4 and I would most definititely enjoy playing them on classic mode (since I cannot stand Halo as it has evolved, pardon the pun, with all the perks/armor abilities).Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 09:51 AM
@113 Halo Anniversary was $40 so Halo 2 probably will be to.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 10:13 AM
@ #22: Swearing = toughness @ #117: *too OT: This is great news, though someone from 343 said that this was a strong possibility back before Halo: CEA was released. Not surprising, but yeah, good news nonetheless.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 10:33 AM
@106 That had nothing to do at all with why CE:A didn't have multiplayer. The original game didn't have LIVE multiplayer, and they weren't going to add such a huge thing. Halo 2 already had it in the original, and this most likely will too. Your point is invalid.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 11:43 AM
Achievement for finding the Scarab Gun plz.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 11:47 AM
@ 91, Halo was the the weakest in the series..? did you even fucking play the game!? Halo 2's campaign was the most in depth, lengthy, and complex of the series.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 11:52 AM
@ 120, great idea! also achievement for brining a banshee into the control room and slaughtering Tatarus with it!Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:11 PM
Halo 4 2012, Halo 2 Anniversary 2014, Halo 5 2015 or 2016, Halo 3 anniversary 2017, Halo 6 2018 or 2019. Then remakes begin 2022 for Halo 4 and so onSaturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:40 PM
This is Sweet music to my ears today after waking up, TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY! Awsome game and hope its not tied in to Reach for the Multiplayer, I hate reach and its broken! Lets have its own MP PLEASE!Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:43 PM
@118 really...?Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 12:54 PM
@125: Nope, not really. Looks sarcastic to me, given what it's in response to.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 01:08 PM
@114 halo 1 didnt have multiplayer so how could could they add it.the map they put on reach were kinda a extra.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 01:11 PM
Hahahah was always hinted with the 11th terminal anyhoos. sweeeeeeeetSaturday, July 07, 2012 @ 01:23 PM
@ #125: Really what? To, too, and two are different words. I know picking out grammatical errors on this site is way too easy, but I couldn't pass that one up. Now it's time to move on.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 01:32 PM
The Halo fan in me who played nothing but Halo 2 on xbox1 live is screaming out in happiness. However, at the same time it is sad because i know it's unlikely they'll keep the original Halo 2 MP and throw in the Halo 4 engine with map remakes...... But then again, Halo 2V is still running. So who knows what could happen.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:02 PM
@106 That's not true, where are you getting your inaccurate information? Halo:CEA didn't have MP added because it didn't have one when it released back in 2001. Halo 2 had MP over LIVE when it released, that's why they will be using Halo 2s MP.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:03 PM
@127 Halo 1 did have MP, you could play it with local splitscreen, system link or through the internet using Xbox Connect(and no I don't mean Kinect).Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:35 PM
I'm extremely happy with this so long as 343 Industries does not decide to outsource it. Combat Evolved Anniversary was a great game, but it also wasn't - you really could tell it was developed by two studios, with another one trying to coordinate the efforts into something cohesive. As far as quality goes, Combat Evolved Anniversary really failed. Texture pop-in, that problem with invisible walls or intangible object, most of the mocap in the cutscenes, facial animation, the way the "classic mode" feature was implemented, lack of original multiplayer... All of these things could see massive improvements. -Remove texture pop-in -Model the anniversary mode so that the new textures actually line up with the old models, so that I'm not shooting a rocket at a tree that I'm trying to take cover behind that's actually much wider than it appears, thus killing myself -Have whoever did the Reach mocap redo the Anniversary mocap. Seriously, all of Reach's mocap was incredibly well-done, while Anniversary's made Master Chief seem like a huge ham -Same thing as above with facial animation - in Reach, that was really well-done; while in Anniversary, faces were nowhere near as...dynamic. They were immersion-breaking for me, to be honest -Improve the "classic mode" feature so that the game doesn't have to black out whenever you use it. The way this works with the human brain negates its effect - you're supposed to be able to use it for direct comparisons, but that little 5-second period of blackness causes your brain to forget finer details. Look at games like 2008's Prince of Persia, which had its entire area change when you removed the Corruption - except the entire area would transform before your very eyes. Have any Halo Anniversary games do this too, please -Put in the original multiplayer All of the above, in my eyes, would definitely warrant the $40 price tag, which Halo Anniversary in its current form is not actually worth. Right now it's kind of a sloppy hodgepodge of rushed development woes. If Halo 2 Anniversary was to turn out like Combat Evolved Anniversary, I'm not so sure I'd want it. Additionally, if 343 Industries wants to put out a $60 title: -Add campaign scoring -Add Theater mode -Add Forge mode (both are probably quite impossible) -Add online stat tracking, but across the board (multiplayer AND campaign)Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 02:44 PM
This will not have multiplayer. 343 is NOT going to divide their Halo community and specifically kill the Halo 4 community just so people can experience nostalgia. They would be outright stupid to include competitive multiplayer.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 03:17 PM
@ 134, as butt-hurt as many people will be by your statement, I completely agree with you. it's basic logic that they won't have a stand alone multiplayer for Halo 2.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 03:56 PM
Eh Halo 2 is way more linear but I'd love to see Old/New Mombasa again in HD.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 04:04 PM
@115 LOL you don't know me very well! How about I throw my xbox at you instead? Then throw you off of the cliff? Seriously, get off my dick faggot. I know it's big and all but you already got something stuck up your ass.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 04:09 PM
Actually, ill throw my xbox off of a cliff and into a lake, I don't live by the ocean.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 05:13 PM
-integrate all mp maps -bring back all original achievements We're set to goSaturday, July 07, 2012 @ 06:04 PM
while remaking it, I hope they fix that last boss problem since it is freaking impossible on Legendary unless you cheat.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 07:13 PM
@132 Everyone knows Halo:CE had splitscreen MP, it didn't have any matchmaking MP and Halo 2 does have. They would have had to added all that in Halo:CEA for MP, they wouldn't have to do that for Halo 2. @134 This game will probably be released year after Halo 4, not around the same time. I seriously doubt 343i is worried about splitting the HUGE Halo community, and it's not like people won't be able to play both MPs. 343i would be crazy to not include the original MP, it's what fans will be expecting and wanting. @135 It's his opinion, it's not a fact, he doesn't know anymore than anybody else about the game. I doubt people will be butt-hurt by it.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 07:54 PM
Yes!!! Best Halo game ever.Saturday, July 07, 2012 @ 08:20 PM
@ 140, dude, I've easily beaten this game 10+ times on Legendary, it's not too hard!Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 02:58 AM
Omg. That would be LEGENDARY! I'm starting to love 343, if this is true.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 03:15 AM
Meh k really doubt this.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 03:59 AM
sick shyt . this games gunna sell so many copys on the release date halo 2 is the best game by far. and it was an oviouse returnSunday, July 08, 2012 @ 05:17 AM
dude, i think i filled the cup....Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 05:21 AM
This is so awesome. HD Halo day: CE into 2 into 3!Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 05:22 AM
Also, really hope they have a traditional multiplayer section- really missed that on CE Anniversary.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 05:23 AM
fuck all games played on vertern, legendary, hardened, expert, insane....etc! three words beat allllll that: Cairo Station LegendarySunday, July 08, 2012 @ 06:17 AM
Great there's going to be alot of people complaining that it uses halo 4's mp :/Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 10:05 AM
I look forward this. But I hope this one will have more numbers of achievements then last anniversary and less Legendary difficulty for each type of achievements to earns. This is bit bored achievements list because too much for Legendary. I am fine with it but bored list and yah very challenges though. Last anniversary is great game compare to original Xbox version. Let hope 2nd anniversary to have better achievements list with less Legendary achievements. :) Preorder 2nd anniversary when date confirm. :)Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 10:24 AM

*Squee*Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 10:49 AM
i hear halo 3 and reach will be nextSunday, July 08, 2012 @ 11:12 AM
Say what you want about Halo (I love the early ones. The rest less so), you can't deny that the remake of CE was the best HD remake ever attempted-actually making new graphics rather than some lazy HD textures. Only Black Mesa Source comes close but that's been in development for ages.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 01:50 PM
bring back its own MP and its sold.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 02:29 PM
Hmmm... I only have ONE request: CHANGE THE GRAPHIC ON GRAVEMIND! It really bugs to be playing Halo [2], and all of a sudden... I'm watching "Little Shop of Horrors!" I swear... I was expecting that damn thing to start singing or dancing!! Make it look like SOMETHING else!!! As for the MP... I expect it will be as many suspect: based on Halo 4'a MP. If they [at least] brought back "clans" to the multiplayer, it would feel more like Halo 2's MP. I just hope they make ALL the maps ever created for Halo 2 available (even if we have to pay for them), and play JUST like the original MP! I don't care if it uses the Halo 4 MP engine... just let the classic maps play like the original!!Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 02:35 PM
I don't really care if they bring back H2's multiplayer, but I really REALLY want to see this game made, I loved Halo 2(though I love CE more)and since playing Anniversary have hoped and prayed for this.Hooray!Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 03:04 PM
For what anniversary? Halo 2 came out years after Halo.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 03:33 PM
#3 I doubt 343 would try to fix something that isn't broken.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 03:44 PM
As long as they keep the halo 2 original multiplayer and not reach, this will be a must buy for me.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 04:10 PM
All halo games on current gen system? Am I dreaming? Game and engine are done so there's not much that needs done other than update graphics and use the new mp engine from 4 to do the multiplayer. Y'all know it'll be done that way so they can have it out by November next year. And this is in no way shape or form like CoD or other annual titles...4 took how long to be made? Regardless of 343 taking over? CoD has nothing but teams working on what to do next...halo has a fan base that will bitch all to high hell if something's fucked up with it. Don't see/hear any CoD idiots doing thatwhen the new one comes out. Lemmings, gotta love emSunday, July 08, 2012 @ 05:59 PM
if the story has co op like halo ce im all over it.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 06:05 PM
@85, 134 and many more: I think this will have its own multiplayer because I think the next XBOX will launch for christmas 2013. If the remake comes out in 2014 it will be on the next xbox and though will not come with maps for a game on the last gen of consoles. Halo 2 Remake could infact be the title to fix your Halo needs on the Nextbox until the next major title comes out.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 07:06 PM
sounds to good to be true.. even if they do remake lets hope it plays the same.. that means keep the damn armour abilities outSunday, July 08, 2012 @ 10:31 PM
I'm a true halo fan so I'm definately getting this. I hope they add MP because I have never played on halo 2's original MP. Also, I think this will be the last of the remakes for awhile because halo 3 and Reach are already on the 360 and are new enough.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 10:33 PM
@ 166 I agree, although I kind of want to see what the original MP is like.Sunday, July 08, 2012 @ 11:54 PM
One thing that CEA lacked that I felt should have been do-able was campaign scoring (complete with most of the medals). I wasn't exactly a big fan of the idea of keeping absolutely EVERY limitation from the original CE engine, but one thing that really would have increased the replay value for me would have been that nice addition. There's something just so mindlessly fun when trying to get "combo" multikill medals or seeing those headshot medals pop up. If they do go ahead with a Halo 2 Anniversary and they keep things the same (which I wouldn't mind in comparison to the other release given it's updated just enough IMO) I'd hope this time around they include scoring.Monday, July 09, 2012 @ 01:59 AM
This was the best Halo for Multiplayer but IMO Halo 1 was best Campaign.Monday, July 09, 2012 @ 02:24 AM
And everyone hear is talking about the multiplayer part of Halo 2. Halo 1 might have gotten the short end of the stick in terms of its multiplayer remake, but I liked having the maps tack into Halo Reach. My complaint is how poorly the map packs are organized in game. If I want to play halo 1 maps, I have to play the halo 1 mode. If I want to play halo 1 mode, i have to play those maps. Why not allow the mode to apply to all the maps? Put all of them in one big list? Then firefight can rotate more than one map in? Also, they way they coded the pistol to make it similar to the halo 1 pistol was a rip off. In MP, they simply made it so that every shot counted as a head shot. Which unbalanced things greater than the original every thought of doing. Now for me, I'm looking forward to campaign. In that respect, Halo 2 is awesome because you finally got a look at the full conflict. You found that the aliens had divisions in the ranks just like us. I'm hoping Halo 4 will finally give the story the credit its due. Since 343 is a company composed of fans, I may just get that wish. Done right, and Halo can rival Star Wars.Monday, July 09, 2012 @ 07:01 AM
Huh. Another remake? I'm guessing the next games they will remake are Halo 3 and Halo 4? I love Halo and will buy Halo 4 LE day 1, but this is kind of ridiculous.Monday, July 09, 2012 @ 07:14 AM
^for the millionth time, why the hell would 343i remake a 360 game?! They're only doing this since it was a previous generation title. I highly doubt they'll make a Halo 3 remake at all.Monday, July 09, 2012 @ 10:18 PM
Wow... I'm surprised that someone hasn't mentioned the obvious (and if nothing else... to shut-up the idiots saying they'll remake Halo 3). This will have ALL of the Halo games (at least up to Halo 4 & and Halo 2: Anniversary) play natively on the Xbox 360. You know [for damn sure] that NONE of the original Xbox games will play on the next Xbox console - not unless you want 30 GB of HD storage to be used for backwards-compatibility software!! It's a win-win for everyone who loves Halo AND wants to be able to play all the games on the same console... not to mention improved graphics, AND... the reason most of us are on here: ACHIEVEMENTS! For those not interested in the remastered versions of Halo... why the hell are you even reading here? Go read a book or something!Tuesday, July 10, 2012 @ 11:36 AM
Definitely be nice to play Halo 2 on 360 without all the graphical glitches I got playing the Xbox original disc on it [like frames from cut-scenes staying on screen in game-play as an annoying filter.]Wednesday, July 11, 2012 @ 11:56 AM
If there is another achievement like 'look out for the little guys' in this one, I may have to jump off of a building. Other than that I am psyched!Friday, July 13, 2012 @ 04:53 AM
*yawn* I played this game back in 2007, it was called Halo 2 (Games for Windows) so do we need remakes of a remake now?Wednesday, August 29, 2012 @ 02:24 PM
i need this to happenThursday, October 18, 2012 @ 07:54 PM
So I read about 120 comments and some people seem happy and some people not so much. Personally I loved the campaign. After playing halo combat evolved for 3 years nothing could have been more exciting and it did everything I could of asked and more. I think it was a huge milestone and a near perfect sequel. I never played xbox live but I would still today play lan halo 2 over any halo currently. I loved just going into matches with my friends with no score for hours and hours. The way it improved without subtracting anything meant just as much as the game itself and I never thought they would HD it. If they do I would buy it. I bought CEA and found no disappointments, although i didnt play that live multiplayer either. And as far as the PC version goes Halo started on xbox, and I would never be able to play it on anything else, I'm sure alot of people feel the same. Console games are so much more playable then PC. especially if your PC is garbage like mine.Sunday, November 04, 2012 @ 11:43 AM
My favorite Halo game to date. I hope they remake thisFriday, January 18, 2013 @ 02:04 PM
They NEED to do a proper soundtrack if they remake this, no more licensed tracks from bands please.Friday, January 18, 2013 @ 02:17 PM
@182 THANK YOU! I hated that crap they added to the soundtrack. Why did they feel the need to add fan-boy interpretations of Halo songs onto the soundtrack? It did NOT fit the game at all (I suppose if I used drugs, like LSD, the music might have worked)! When I ripped my CD onto my computer... I excluded EVERY one of those band-tracks!!Sunday, January 20, 2013 @ 09:18 AM
Not sure if this has been said or speculated, too many posts to go thru all. I had 1st thought to myself, November 2014 release as a 10yr Ann. like they did Halo 1 but maybe just maybe we will be lucky and they will use this as a Next Gen launch title this November for the new Xbox?! that is what I am hoping for the most! reguardless though if its this year or next it will be a next gen graphics remake, not a 360 title!! so those who are not excited cant see why.. I mean to take an amazing game like this made with Next Gen HD graphics, I would gladly pay a $60 price on that!Tuesday, January 22, 2013 @ 03:31 AM
@184 That's not likely to happen. Games for the original Xbox continued to be made AFTER the Xbox 360 was released... for a while! I don't need the graphics in Halo 2 to kick-ass beyond what we have currently. What most people (who want the remake at all) want, is to have Halo 1 thru 4 on the 360, so they can be together... not play Halo 1 (CEA) on the 360, then play Halo 2A on the next gen Xbox, then go back to the 360 to Halo 3... that's just stupid. Besides... if it comes out for the 360 (assuming they don't have a separate, isolated "Classic" Halo 2 MP mode)... the game should only be 40 bucks - just like Halo CEA! If it comes out on the next-gen console... it would more likely cost 60 bucks - or possibly "70 bucks," if the history of game-price increases holds!!Tuesday, January 22, 2013 @ 06:59 AM
Amazing news! I would rather they just left it exactly how it was though and just re-released it with online servers!Tuesday, January 22, 2013 @ 10:05 PM
@44 So they should have put LAN multiplayer in the game. Halo 1 didn't have Live so you couldn't play with other people just friends by connecting xbox together in the same house. Halo 2 was the best Halo to dateTuesday, February 12, 2013 @ 01:41 PM
Loved Halo 2 I can't wait to own itSaturday, February 23, 2013 @ 05:28 PM
I just hope the graphics are updated, skulls save, terminals would be nice, and mythic isn't turned on while playing coop legendary.Sunday, May 12, 2013 @ 06:18 AM
I hope that it's still going to be on 360 and not on the new console
Friday, July 06, 2012
Ohhhh, yes. The latest reports are saying that Halo 2 Anniversary is reportedly in the works at 343 Industries. The studio is currently focusing most of its efforts on Halo 4, but also has a team dedicated to giving the Xbox classic the HD treatment.
The news comes via the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine UK, which carries the following quote in its rumours section: "Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary." Short but sweet.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary released last year, bringing - amongst other things - a glorious high def revamp and a remastered orchestral soundtrack with it. It was, in short, a bit special.
So look out for official confirmation on this, as and when it comes. It may not be the most surprising news, but boy it’s a good ‘un.
