Metro: Last Light Pre-Order Incentives Illuminated

Deep Silver has revealed the pre-order incentives for the relentlessly dark Metro: Last Light, which see the return of the Ranger Mode that came to previous game Metro 2033, as DLC.

Anyone pre-ordering the game from participating retailers can get the Ranger Pack DLC, giving you the additional, more challenging mode in which your HUD is removed and your resources are severely limited. It's hard as nails, but you do get the new AKSU rifle and 100 military-grade rounds to aid you in your fight for survival.

Pre-order from GAME in the UK, and you'll also get the ultra rapid-fire RPK machine gun factored into the deal. Metro: Last Light is coming to North America on May 14th and Europe on May 17th. Lee wrote a lovely hands-on preview just for you! Read it here.

  • I didn't play much of Metro 2033, I bought it but ended up playing something else and haven't gone back to it. Pretty sure I only have 5G in it. I do quite like the world though, and would be interested in this if I ever get round to finsihing 2033.
  • The first game had potential. I hope the sequel expands on what the first game did right and tweaks the rest.
  • I think Metro 2033 is one of the most underrated games of all time. Ive been waiting for Last Light for so long. I just want it to come out already. Also still really looking forward to Stick of Truth.
  • Urg.. pre order incentives for Game? Why :( they're the last company in the UK i'd consider buying anything from.
  • @4 yeah I agree with that, I wish they'd gone under properly.
  • Usually I don't get too bothered about pre-order incentives, but this I actually find quite annoying. This ranger mode is... well, just that, a whole mode. It seems unfair to package it off as a pre-order incentive when it's main purpose is to give a greater challenge to the player. The average joe who buys the game might complete it and never go back to it, making this mode pointless to them, and yet unavailable to some people who might actually want it. Like if Hardcore mode on New Vegas had been a pre-order incentive, it just seems...weird. Or at least until it's released as DLC, like most pre-order stuff most days. Got to be honest, I could see there being an achievement for this pack.
  • I agree with #6, pre-order bonuses are getting to the point of being unfair. It annoys me more when there are several different companies with several different pre-order bonuses, meaning you're never gonna have a complete game. I long for the good old days when a pre-order bonus would be an Xbox theme, or a couple of descent guns for the start (like the first Borderlands).
  • Whilst I still think having Ranger Mode (aka the only way to play the game) as a preorder bonus is complete bullshit, I will be picking this up.
  • #4+5 Could not agree more everything about Game is rotten they have not changed a bit since the administration
  • id much rather wait till fallout 4 for my post apocalypse style game open world game by company that can actually make good games metro 2033 was awful I do like the book metro is based on . well the first game was
  • @3 You're right! Its pretty underrated and kids were just focused on other FPS like Call of Duty and Battlefield. Metro 2033 was good, and so will Metro: Last Light. I might possibly Pre-order if I'm done with Dead Island: Riptide!
  • I don't think that I have ever played a more atmospheric fps than 2033. Its dark, chilling, gloomy, irradiated environments were actually a breath of fresh air after feeling somewhat saturated with modern shooters. Can't wait for Last Light!
  • Nice.
  • @9 - Definitely, only last weekend I asked one of the staff at GAME why Anarchy Reigns was £15 new, yet £17.99 2nd hand ... Just one of the many games I could have picked. Typical answer, oh the price hasn't been adjusted yet, will be in a few days. Yeah right, it'll be the same permanently.
  • Ranger Mode was amazing, already planning on pre-ordering this but that's shitty that it's exclusive to preorder. I bet it'll be 400 or 800 points if sold later on despite it being 240 with the first game.
  • Yay Metro getting closer!
  • So happy May is just closer now and Metro is just around much closer now since THQ closed down and Deep Silver pick it up as rights so happy Deep Silver support this franchise because Metro 2033 is so fun and want to see sequel too. :)
  • Shut up and take my money just doesn't do it justice. I was overjoyed when Last Light was announced, this is definitely getting a pre-order from me.
  • the first metro was decent but maybe this will improve a lot of points
