Activision has announced that Skylanders Swap Force will be coming to next-generation platforms as well as current-generation consoles, meaning you'll be able to play with your Skylanders toys on Xbox One.

Vicarious Visions is developing the game for home consoles, which includes both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Swap Force adds new toys with interchangeable body parts to create different combinations of abilities and powers. Swap Force's 16 characters' legs and torsos can be switched out, making for up to 250 different combos.

They can also climb, fly and teleport, which is nice. The game will require a new Portal of Power too, which is not so nice. Skylanders Swap Force is coming to Xbox 360 on October 13th in North America, October 16th in Australia and October 18th in Europe. A date for the Xbox One version is TBC.

  • Yay, TV, COD and this shit, just what I want from my new console. Acti: Money grubbin bastards
  • Calm down. If kids enjoy it. So be it.
  • @1 Nobody ever said you HAD to buy any of those things, so really they're not "money grubbin" unless you stupidly pay into it... But 9 times out of 10, the people who complain about money schemes from Developers on games, are the same people you see later down the road playing the exact thing they were complaining about.
  • So glad my kids grew out of this series after the first game, I hate to think what I spent getting figures and accessories for that.
  • Its just like buying more bionicles for your collection. Building them and playing with them (or in my case when i was younger, Built them and observed them). You buy the game and then you buy the figurines. No different to going out and buying toys from toy shops ? Anyone agree? Its only evolved with the video game industry. Well done Activision for a successful franchise.
  • Does this mean we might not see it on the 360 or will it be ported?
  • Another optional thing for people to moan about and mention for the 100th time that they're switching to ps4
  • haha ! the only time I ever saw anybody excited by this on 360 was when Game went broke in France and everything was -75%. It was all that was left so 30+ year-olds were just taking them all.
  • @doomslayer123, Can you blame them?
  • @ #9 Yes.
  • @9 Sod off fanboy. At least we've seen our nextgen console.
  • I could not care less about the games on xbox one, all i want to do is watch tv on it.
  • @11 calling someone a fanboy but refers to Xbox1 as "ours" seems legit
  • This gives Skylanders an advantage over Disney Infinity, as the the other game isn't releasing on next-gen consoles. (Not yet anyway)
  • @5 Totally agree. They managed to start a trend in the industry that everyone wants to copy. We'll see if it lasts though. I think I'm excited about this new game. I guess I am? Probably will know for sure when it comes out. @11 @13 By the way, when did fanboy become an insult and "true" fan become something to be respected?
  • actually looking forward to this game, ive got the other 2 and they are actually fun to play, the combat actually involves tactics based on the strengths and weaknesses of the enemey and your own skylander, the giants was better than the first one, so hopefully swapforce will be even better, even if you spend a lot of money on the figures etc, you can always sell them again since theyre multiregion and multiplatform meaning that anyone in the world can buy it from you, so u can make some of your money back. plus it has bobcat goldthwaight or whatever his name is in it, good stuff, and u can play locally without internet for multiplayer, thats a win win in my book.
  • @12- being a troll is sooo 2010 mate
  • ooooo, the babies are going to love this, hopefully it's not overpriced.
  • @3 Well you can consider this the 1 time out of ten. What sane adult would buy this shit? Give it another couple of years, kids'll get bored of this shit, games stop selling, Acti shut down yet another studio.
  • Man, I hope Disney is taking notes. I want Infinity on Xbox One!!!
  • Another easy 1000G. Preorder it!!! :D
  • @19 I seriously beg to differ sir...Pokemon has been around for how long now, they've got a substantial amount of pokemon (600 and something), and the show is still heavily popular from the show, to the games, to the cards. These Skylanders Games are really just the "American" version of Pokemon. It's possibly the only kids game I've seen that's reached a large base of fans in a short time period since Pokemon..I don't think it's going anywhere...
  • @1 Odds are this game isn't being made for you, so why are you complaining? I see kids everywhere with T-shirts, backpacks, etc. with Skylanders. Kids everywhere love it. Its to them like Power Rangers was for my generation. However, I have played Skylanders and actually enjoy it. Some of the achievements were actually a bit challenging and the game is a lot of fun. Looking forward to this game coming out.
  • im just fed up with seeing billions of these fucking things on ebay. especially by those who buy in bulk and sell them on claiming they are rare, to reel in the kids and their stupid parents, while making a nice profit. actually, that gives me an idea...
  • @22 Pokemon peaked years ago. Anyway, are these things really that popular? I don't think I've ever seen a kid with skylanders stuff. Ahhhh well, at least if it doesn't die off (along with cod [and wow]) we can all look forward to being enslaved by activision ;(
  • Will I be able toget 2 1000g :)
  • @26 it is expected that all x1 games you can stack the achievos but this on x1 worries me as acti will most likely add cheevios to get ever single skylander as they can now add achievements on the fly
  • @22- how is this like pokemon? its actually nothing like it. if your talking about wierd creatures with weapons then i would say every rpg ever made has the same thing... @25- if you think pokemon is dying then clearly you wernt at comicon in the US or london, never seen so many teenage Ash's.
