Yeah a code to download gears 1 came with new copies of Judgment. Even though it is a really old game and they could have replaced it with something newer like Gears 3 or judgment. How is it free if you have to pay a subscription fee (gold) to get it? Not everyone has gold (mine expires this month I believe and I'm not renewing it) and people look forward to these games of the month, so yes, they have a right to moan if they want better games. @28 So you are comparing what is free on 3 different systems to what is free on the 360? That's not really fair is it? It's know we "only" get 1 free game every fortnight, and personally I don't care if any retail games are free, since I like my physical copies, but it is still something that is free, whether people own it already, or not. Besides, people should realise that Microsoft doesn't own every game in the universe, so they can't just give anything away for free because they feel like it, and it would make the community happy (good luck making every whiner happy). It's not like they can take any Ubisoft, EA, Capcom or whatever company's game and make it free, if the company that makes and owns the game doesn't want to. Finally I have a question for all of those who complain about every price and offer in here. If you were at the other side of the table, and you made money off making and selling games, would you just give everything away for free because some people complain about bad deals on forums? Of course you wouldn't. You would make as much money from your product as you could. Also it is good to complain otherwise, since a business is mainly about making money, they will only give away £1 games each month, i have put a lot of money in their pockets and think we deserve at least a game that's only a couple of years old, or use it to promote lesser known games/genres. Just for clarity, is there anyone that does not own Gears 1? I didn't think so. I couldn't complain if it were Gears 2 or 3 we were talking about, because in Gears 2 you had four-player Horde (I don't think 4P campaign had existed just yet), and then Gears 3 introduced the four-player campaign. I know plenty of people who could benefit from that, and I could group together with a lot of people. This, though; this sucks. Also, yeah, 6, you're an asshole. People stating we can't complain about free stuff need to realize why M$ is doing this in the first place. It's not a way to thank us but as a response to what PS Plus was offering and people started to moan. However when PS Plus is offering games like XCOM, Uncharted 3, Metal Gear Rising and such whilst Xbox offers freakin Gears of War 1!! it is pretty much a useless addition. When something is useless cause 95% already owns it it remains useless even when it's free. Had they given GoW Judgement it would have been very impressive instead it's another "meh" title. So far I have only downloaded 1 game for Gold whilst downloading 2 to 3 titles per month on PS Plus. There's a big difference and thus as far as gifts go it's not very good. My aunt can give me a dress for my birthday and it will be free, but does that mean I need to be happy with it as a male? A bit surprised they chose Gears 1 over Gears 2. I get why they chose Gears 1, between the fact that it's a 7 year old game that 99% of the people that were interested in playing have already done so, and the fact that free digital copies were given away with GoW:Judgement, they were clearly not making any money off this game anymore, and that seems to be the #1 determining factor in choosing what the free game will be, but Gears 1's DLC is all free, and the DLC from Gears 2 will run you over $20. Also, Fuck getting a next gen console, lets cling to the last generation and bitch about everything because we're gamers and what else do we have to do? Microsoft should become a non profit organisation and we should all post silly comments online to force the games industry to come to a standstill...... Fuck off and buy new games that you want, you pay for gold to get the benefits of gold... Whether you're a fan of shooting organic, monstrous lifeforms or mechanical entities, December's free Xbox Live Games With Gold have got you covered with a pair of tasty shooters. They are (drum-roll, please) Gears of War and Shoot Many Robots.
You'll be able to grab Gears of War for free from December 1st until December 15th, while side-scrolling XBLA shoot 'em up, the aptly-titled 'Shoot Many Robots' will be available to download for nothing on December 16th until December 31st.
Gears of War normally costs $19.99 via Games on Demand, while Shoot Many Robots usually costs $9.99 to download on the Xbox Live Arcade. They can be yours for free in December. Meanwhile, Microsoft is looking into offering Games With Gold on Xbox One, with details set to emerge in 2014.
