HAHA!!Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 11:53 AM
do you mean Q3 of 2013?Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 11:55 AM
Heads will roll! Let that be a lesson to you. Don't keep releasing broken games, or pushing devs to. And don't host them on broken servers.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:00 PM
Although i hate to see any game publisher/developer struggle EA have pushed out unfinished glitchy games. People are getting wise to it and sick of it. take your time, release quality over quantity. And for god sake hand your servers to Microsoft!!Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:01 PM
Half of all revenue was from digital!!! How much of that was from people using stolen/hacked accounts belonging to other people though? Still results dont surprise me much - theyve not been releasing many Mass Effect etc sized big hitters as of late.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:05 PM
It's scary that more than 50% is from digital sales. Who the heck is buying digital over physical?!Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:23 PM
It's scary anyone is buying anything from EA.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:33 PM
How the hell do you lose money when you have a title like FIFA ... A game that needs very little development, and sells like crazy every year ..... Someones creaming of the top I think...Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:36 PM
YAY!! Fuck you EA!!! :DWednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:37 PM
#2: FISCAL 2014. The 2014 fiscal year started April 1st 2013.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:38 PM
Hardly a surprise, look at how they ruined swtor, bioware could have made a good game. Bit ea wanted a wow copy.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:40 PM
@2 No it's Q3 of 2014. The financial year doesn't start the 1st of January it starts in April. The current financial year is 2014 and in April it will become 2015.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 12:46 PM
Karma.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 01:09 PM
Oh god! Watch them get rid of there severs for there games super super early now.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 01:15 PM
Maybe they should get their fucking games right before pushing them for release.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 01:17 PM
@6 I'm not being rude when I say this its just a straight up fact... there's a lot of people that don't wanna be seen in public, or can't get out there house. Or there's your busting ass hard worker that has no time to go out and get the game from the store for themselfs/ kids. I myself buy physical copies of everything unless it's digital only of course. Even when Microsoft does those deals you can go get it for the same price...maybe a couple of dollars more but that's fine I have something to show for, you know what I mean. Anyways yeah people shouldn't support this that much for the simple fact that it gives Microsoft a Reason to try and go all digitalWednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 01:35 PM
I read this as a very scary report for gamers because I only seeing this going one way. When the money men and women all get together with their champers and beluga caviar served on a bed of sex slaves within their ivory tower, I don't see them suggesting that increasing profitability can be done by giving more time and funding to developers while listening to their intensive knowledge how to make great games for gamers. Me thinks they might look at that rising percentage of digital sales and agree on our behalf that what the average gamer really wants are stripped down games with the removed content being sold on as DLC and increasing the amount of Micro-transactions.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 01:36 PM
Thats what halpens when you ship shit, take care of your developersWednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 01:50 PM
#6 Wonder if this will include the digital copy of FIFA 14 with Xbox One. Would imagine MS would have paid EA something for this.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 01:54 PM
Nobodies hating on EA when they're publishing Battlefield, Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect, Dead Space. But yeah, hate on them in general that makes sense.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 01:58 PM
Maybe people getting bored of the same shit games every year, played fifa 14 on pc expecting it look good very disappointed was running 380fps max settings not got the best pc in the world but it didn't need break a sweat to run it, nfs rivals shocking too its just like they cant be bothered when that have the chance make something aceWednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 01:58 PM
If the was ever i company i would love to see burn its this one. This made my day reading EA lost $308 million. They are probably the most evil game company about. This DRM sucks and on alot of games horribly broken. To this day i haven't been able to get C&C4 to work the DRM kicks me out of the game before its go to the main menu. BF4 another example of how shit they are.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 02:17 PM
Good. Quit releasing broken shit and this won't be a problem. BF4 would've sold a lot more if it wasn't for all of the problems that STILL have yet to be fixed.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 02:36 PM
I imagine dead space 3 would of sold better if they hadnt of turned it into a co-op shooter.. And by the sounds of it they fucked battlefield 4Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 02:36 PM
Good. Hope they lose more next year.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 03:02 PM
Best News EVER lets hope it continues until thet go bankruptWednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 03:18 PM
@16 ever heard of home delivery? I buy my games on the internet, they're here within 2 days (sometimes next day) and have better price than any local shop / digital release has to offer. (delivery cost included)Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 03:18 PM
Lol #20. How often do you check the latest gaming news and the comments here? Hundreds of XBA users were outraged when EA screwed up Battlefield 4, Mass Effect 3's ending and Dead Space 3's horror elementWednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 05:02 PM
Serves them right, lets hope it changes their approach to releasing games and waiting until they are finished.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 05:12 PM
I got Need for Speed Rivals in a bundle with my PS4. Before that though my last EA game was Mass Effect 3. Completely avoided them because of all the issues they have. Hopefully they will take this as a sign they need to work with the gamers moreWednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 05:13 PM
People will laugh at EA but i would much rather see activision go through this because despite the bastards EA are they do provide us with some enjoyable titles compared to activision which provide us with... Call of dutyWednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 05:16 PM
That's a huge loss. Did not expect that from EA to be fair. Hate them all you like people. If they go, no more Fifa for starters. Along with their other big titles.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 05:22 PM
The best bit would have being the board meeting where this was announced and overpaid suits genuinely looking shocked and asking how? why ? How ? you didn't listen to the paying public (despite what you said) and got bitten in the ass by doing all the things you promised you wouldn't do. EA you have being rumbled that turning out the same substandard piece of crap every year, with a fine tweak, just doesn't cut it anymore and people would rather stick with last years unfixed product than pay top dollar for the same old bullshit this year.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 06:44 PM
stop releasing broken (money grabbing) shite into the market then!Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 08:28 PM
I will always buy my EA games used for 10 or less and never buy their overpriced DLC. EA can lick it and lick it good.Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 08:33 PM
Poor EA, please stop I'm gonna cry! Hmmmmmm after some thinking I've changed my mind, please continue I wanna laught!Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 08:39 PM
The stockholders EA kisses up to aren't gonna be happy~ @20 Not sure if serious... Oh well, list of reasons why EA is a horrid publisher time: Battlefield 4 should have been in another month(or more) of beta testing, but EA wanted to prematurely release it within a week of COD: Ghosts because sales apparently make a game successful. Mass Effect was ruined by the color-coded flipbook ending that actually got the two creators of the ending 'fired' due to player base outrage, said outrage was fueled by rising knowledge that the ending was actually presented in a behind-the-scenes handshaking with EA in one of the publisher's numerous budget slashings(yes, EA cuts developer's budgets because 'profit'). And Dead Space(3) is one of those games that alienated the player base due to it going out of genre(horror to action) in order to attract a larger player base, guess whose business decision that was. Oh, and Left 4 Dead is NOT published by EA, completely irrelevant to this news article. It helps to do some prior research before mindlessly defending a corporation that cares more about their profits than their customers(You).Wednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 10:11 PM
EA used to be top notch Hopefully this is a wake up call for themWednesday, January 29, 2014 @ 11:45 PM
EA DESERVES IT!!! For all the reasons listed above... LMAO! Money hungry whores!Thursday, January 30, 2014 @ 12:16 AM
Ha.Thursday, January 30, 2014 @ 07:17 AM
Ha Ha and so forth.Thursday, January 30, 2014 @ 09:08 AM
EA were an excellent company when they were releasing stuff for the Megadrive/Genesis, Snes, PS1.. But now they are just money greedy whores. The attitude now is if its broke.. It don't matter, We'll release a patch a few weeks after to sort out some of the problems.. Personally I couldn't stand Battlefield (or as I like to call it.. Spawn n Die). And EA with those shitty Servers.. Dear oh dear.. MS should have said to them.. Use our servers or lose out. I remember the early days of Xbox Live and EA always said that the only way they would get on Xbox live is if EA had full server control of their games. Look at games like Halo, Cod, Forza, PGR.. Yes they all have/had some connection Issues. But no where near as bad as EA's "still trying to connect to server" issues. Like others have said on here. I don't buy EA games brand new/release day anymore. I wait till they go on sale or I get them pre owned (just picked up Dead Space 3 for £9 brand new/still sealed) as I think they are now a company that really don't give a flying fuck about the people that pay them (You the Gamer) to be in the position that they are..Thursday, January 30, 2014 @ 09:26 AM
So THIS is why there have been a couple of (semi) respectable sales on EA games of late. Lol too little too late.Thursday, January 30, 2014 @ 09:49 AM
@28&37 You do know that Bioware + Visceral are to blame for their games shortcomings? And Left 4 Dead 2 was distributed (not published (my mistake)) by EA.Thursday, January 30, 2014 @ 05:29 PM
Serves them right, they're god aweful.

Electronic Arts has reported a net loss of $308 million for its fiscal third quarter of 2014, with overall revenues down a considerable amount in comparison to the company's reported figures last year.
For the period of three months from October 1st, 2013 until December 31st, 2013 that makes up the firm's fiscal Q3 2014, EA reported a net revenue of $808 million. During the same quarter last year, EA reported $922 million in revenue. However, the figures show a 16.3% increase over last quarter's $695 million in earnings.
A boost in digital sales has helped buoy EA's earnings, with 50.7% of revenue ($410 million) coming from digital avenues. Meanwhile, a 60% increase in purchases for FIFA Ultimate Team, Madden NFL Ultimate Team and NHL Ultimate Team sales on a non-GAAP basis (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) have also been reported.
EA also reported a trailing twelve-month total revenue of $3.66 billion, projecting $3.52 billion in revenue for its entire fiscal 2014 (year ending March 31st). $1.07 billion of said revenue is expected to come during the company's next quarter. Presumably the lion's share will come via digital once again.
