Sleeping Dogs HD Coming to Xbox One & PS4

Sleeping Dogs HD is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, complete with bundled downloadable content.

The enhanced re-issue first came to our attention when it popped up in a ShopTo listing late last week (cheers Stuart), but the release has since been confirmed by a reliable source.

ShopTo listed Sleeping Dogs HD for £54.99 and a November 21st release. The listing has now been pulled down.

We spoke to a representative of ShopTo who sidestepped our request to confirm the legitimacy of the listing, however a reliable source has since confirmed to us that the next-gen reissue is “very real.”

The source added that Sleeping Dogs HD is expected to contain some of the original game’s DLC, but some cosmetic DLC packs may be held back.

Sleeping Dogs hit Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012, picking up a bunch of positive reviews in the process. Our own Richard Walker called it "a fantastic example of an open-world game done exceedingly well."

We’ve contacted Square Enix for official confirmation of the re-release.

  • Nice! I'll be having that!
  • £55 rrp? They're having a laugh, even if it includes the DLC.
  • Great game, but it's less than two years old. And wasn't it already in HD?
  • Already 1000G-ed the game. I throughly enjoyed it but buying it again at such a price just doesn't seem worth it.
  • @4 I know right? Slapping HD on the end is super weird. I wonder if it'll actually be called that when it comes out?
  • No thanks. Considering it's about £5 now
  • I'd be all over this, as it's such an amazing game, but I played so much of the original (full gamerscore, including DLC) that I just don't have it in me to run through it all again. But hopefully this will get some people who missed it the first time around to give it a shot.
  • Jesus Christ, first Halo, then GTA V and Payday 2, now Sleeping Dogs, at this rate there will be more upgraded 360 games on Xbone then actual Xbone games.
  • I wasn't a big fan of the game. It was really good, but not my cup of tea. The fact that you weren't able to move about ANY part of the world didn't seem right for me.
  • Looks like I'll be renting this again but this time for Xbox One. I rented it for the 360 when it first came out, and I was pleasantly surprised on how good it was, and how well the game pulled me into the environment which was made really well and it made the world feel more believable/real.
  • Count me in, I know people are complaining about rehashes, but I dont mind them. This and Metro will be awesome
  • I was on board with Halo, Tomb Raider, and Metro getting next gen re-releases but as good as this game is, I don't think it needed to be re-released. I'm sure some pasty Mountain Dew addict will disagree with me though.
  • Wasn't this Sleeping Dogs in Games with Gold? I think they are a bit too optimistic with this one.
  • I'm playing this game on my 360 right now, and it is pretty good. The Chinese setting is cool and the story/voice acting is great. It looks fine on my 360, but I guess this is why people upgraded to current gen?
  • @8 Surely it been free did that? Price is a joke atleast Metro is £30 for both.
  • Great game, but I don't know if I'd pay over $20 for a remake in HD.
  • hope the graphical enhancement is as good as SE's Tomb Raider Definitive also some new exclusive DLC for the version would be cool(although I dont expect it)
  • It's a great game, but its one that has been given away for free via GamesWithGold, do we really next a nextgen version of this? The amount of ports we're getting now is just silly. Focus on making new sodding games.
  • I don't mind re hashed games cause of course no one is forcing us to buy them. But I only repurchase games that are extra special to me. I loved this game but it's also something that I wont redo all over again. For people that have not played this is great. Best melee system in an open world I have ever played. Motorcycles drive like a dream and the finishers are brutal. Loved it.
  • YES! I love this game!
  • As much as I loved this game, I am not paying that much for a game that's 2 years old. That's a price you'll see these days on 2 year old digital copies lmao
  • I'm good with this, it'll be something to pick up at some point when there is a couple of months between games for me.
  • I can understand massive iconic games being remade like Halo et al. But this game was hardly that big. Ok, it wasn't a bad game, and I know a lot of people that enjoyed it. But is it really worth a 'HD remake'? It just feels lazy from a developer and publisher point of view. They couldn't be bothered to make a new game, so just 'HD' an old one, and hope it makes you some money...
  • November 21st is a Friday...LOL not legit.
  • How fucking much again?
  • Triad Wars damnit!
  • Yesssss!
  • @13 I disagree
  • 2014 is the year of re released game on nect gen. 2015 will be rocking with bew ip's. (Hopefully).
  • @25 Not sure if you were being serious Bigg, but the site it was spotted on is UK and their games are released on Fridays. I'm sure our date is the Tues before.
  • @25 Games release on Fridays in the UK...
  • I love Sleeping Dogs too. Got Platinum on the free PS+ version and 100% GS + DLC on the 360 version... Will pick this up too but only when it's cheap.
  • They are picking random games to remaster like, most of these already look good, not much more they can do! Now a lost odyssey reboot; one disc, fast/skip battle animations, extra dlc, etc, lovely!
  • What? why. porting this to the current gen is stupid. Charging £54.99 for it is insane.
  • Step 1. Overprice the games Step 2. Announce original next gen games Step 3. Bring old games to keep you bust until the original games come out
  • Busy*
  • I will quite happily play through this again. Not long played it and got the 1225g. Dlc was fun but short. Still, it was a great laugh. But the price is a bit steep, which may put me off. Maybe £25 max.
  • Sleeping Dogs is great game in 2012. I enjoyed from started to ended but I don't like zombies DLC as it is awful and crap. I had completed everything in this game with fully Gamerscore. Game is recommend for fans and newcomers to get it. If new achievements list for SD HD then I get it but if achievements is same from 2012 SD then no buy for me. But really I will not get it since I had played 360 in 2012. There plenty games coming this Autumn and Winter include Super Smash Bros. 4, Bayonetta 2, Evolve, Far Cry 4, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Hyrule Warriors, LittleBigPlanet 3, Sunset Overdrive, Destiny and more. :)
  • Again not interested in HD releases so close to original releases on older gen... yet also i see these as being ideal games for gold fodder down the line so will get them when they pop up there. Sleeping Dogs was great fun but it was available release week for £25 brand new in Tesco. Not sure i would see much merit in them asking for more than double that just for an "HD" version with the dlc thrown in.
  • wait ? how do they want to improve the graphics ? i thought the game was in this comic style ...
  • Irritated this is coming out since I bought the game and literally all of it's DLC as and when they came out; unless there's an upgrade option, count me out!
  • @32/33, You're right. I didn't think of that. Sorry fellas.
  • @25 Also Batman Arkham Origins released on a Friday in the US.
  • Now we know why they didn't go with backwards compatibility...
  • @46 you are so fucking right. Look at the onslaught of re released games. All the halo s, walking dead, sleeping dogs, minecraft, metro, wolf among us, tomb raider, grand theft auto, and the list will grow. Instead of making new stuff for the one they are intrestred in making some quick cash. And @47 did you play murdered soul??? They probally need to re coupe some cash after that turd!!
  • I maxed out this game on the 360 (DLC included) ill be up for going through it again.
  • I'll pass. Once through was enough, I'd gladly pick up a sequel though. There are some games that are Masterpieces and truly worth picking up again, such as the Halo series, but Sleeping Dogs isn't one of them.
  • Even though I loved this game, I really wish all these games on last gen would stop having "HD remakes". I really just want new games not something I've already played and just having some "pretty graphics" on the new systems. Where's the innovation that usually comes with the new hardware? It kinda makes me sad to think that maybe gaming might be at it's peak :(
  • Why cant they redo games people really want like BORDERLANDS 2 that have real replay value sleepings dogs will be rereleased and then a couple months later it will be free again on games with gold, thats probably why they are making all these remakes so the have games to give away in future months
  • Why don't they not redo any games?! And here is a crazy idea... Make some new games for you're NEW console!?! And £45 for this?! You can get the 360 version for like £5 why would anyone pay £45 for this?! Oh yes just for another 1000gs. The thing is the more ppl who keep buying these re-releases from last gen cant bitch because if devs and publishers are doing these and they keep selling expect more of the same for the x1 and ps4 and they wont bother doing something NEW
  • Can't stress this enough, if you haven't played this, GET IT. The game beats GTA 5 in a few respects (radio stations, melee combat) and is a solid 9. I really hope the sequel builds on the foundation this sets. Not sure I'll re-buy, but it was an easy completion.
  • £45 or £55 - still far to expensive for a HD remake of a game they gave away for free a few months back. I won't be buying it, having already completed it 100% on 360 but its a fantastic game, that should be played. Shame its over priced. I wanted a Sleeping Dogs 2 at E3!
  • So now modern games are getting "HD" rereleases while Legacy of Kain is still stuck in low definition with poor controls on the PC? God I hate Square Enix, wish they'd hurry up and go bankrupt.
  • ugh
  • Still haven't played the X360 version and I doubt that I will.
  • So we got this for free on games for gold on the 360, now they want to reboot the game already, slap a fancy HD on it, and people will buy that? I want NEW games, not old/reboot games... What a waste!
  • i liked the game but since i got it on Games for Gold and the only real difference between what i have already and that, slightly better graphics, not worth it. 360 games are already HD. i dont mind it when they do collections like Halo, since 1 & 2 were never HD apart from 1 for its anniversary. If they can do that on one disc, id rather them do GTA 3, VC, SA on one disc in HD
  • It;s been free on both last-gen consoles in Games with Gold and PS Plus. Is there anyone interested in playing it who still somehow didn't?
  • I'm totally happy with these ports to the One. Give me a chance to play through these again and tide me over for a bit til the new games release.
  • why...
  • I don't care that this isn't very old, I don't care that I have it completed with all DLC and got the game for free. This is such a great game I will definitely buy it for Xone when I get one, I had so much more fun with this and watchdogs [what is it with the dog games recently?] than I ever had with GTAV and it deserves extra sales to secure it's future as a franchise.
  • does anyone else fear that roughly half of next-gens library is going to HD-remakes of last gen games, that were already in HD?
  • Really unnecessary imo. They should just work on a next gen sequel to sleeping dogs. I bet it would be better than watch dogs
  • I don't really mind all these ''HD-upgraded'' games, but don't sell it for full price. They don't need to built the game from scratch, no they only need to port it and fix screens etcetera. Same thing with the Tomb Raider port. Easy cash-in. Sleeping Dogs on the other hand already looked amazing on the Xbox 360. But hey, I will probably buy it when its under €20 or pick it up if it's its part of the Games with Gold program.
  • Wasn't it technically in HD when it was originally released?
  • I think we're looking at it the wrong way. I think they mean to say "HighER Definition." Or not. There's no use defending it after all, lol.
  • As the majority as said, i dont mind remakes of notable games.. I wouldnt mind bioshock 1-3, and I'll be getting the chief collection. I would rather have remakes to fill in the gap of games over just waiting IMO
  • Yeah let's just port any ol' game to these expensive ass consoles. Like somebody else said, they should stick to porting only major and iconic titles. Not some hipster's favorite game of 2012.
  • I will be avoiding this shit like the fat bitch at the party. If a game needs to be remade give us gears 1-3. Anything else and I could give a shit.
  • @72 I can see that, probably next year after master chief has his shine
  • I'd replay it if they took out the collecting achievements and added something better.
  • This is stupid. I could understand it if this game wasn't free at one point with Games With Gold. Don't get me wrong. I bought this game long before it was free and loved it, but it has no place on current gen consoles. GTA 5, sure, because it will sell in the millions. Last Of Us? You betcha. But not this.
  • The game was really good. DLC was meh. I'm not a huge fan of DLC that takes place outside of the main story when they could just put it in the story.
  • The predecessor to watch dogs, over hyped over advertised and over rated, pass on this title like the plague!
  • Xbox/PS2 generation = best era of gaming. It's nothing but redos now :(
  • Are you serious? The game is two years old. It wasn't that good anyway. And yes, i'm sad to say I got every achievement in this.
  • Have to agree with everyone on the price, it was ok to play but its not worth that price for a 2 year old average game. Please bring some new games out developers because I didn't spend good money on a new console to play old games, could have stuck my 360 for that.
  • @77 this game is in no way related to Watch Dogs
  • Lol, I already got this on a Steam sale last year for $25 with all DLC. Good luck getting another $55-60 out of me for this.
  • I enjoyed the games but there's just so many I haven't played or given a chance yet to play games twice. I did really like Sleeping Dogs. I also don't think it needs a remake. Halo is an exception because of how addicted I was to the Halo 2 multiplayer.
  • Superb, I'm sure that bringing out more 2 year old games that were free with PSN and Games with Gold at £50 will sell bundles of next gen consoles. I wonder what the point of my XBone is half the time. With the exception of Ryse and DR3 every game I've bought/played on it is either a re-release or also launched on the 360.
