Revolution has announced that an enhanced version of Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse will be making its way to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this summer, following its successful funding on Kickstarter after just 13 days. The game sees the return of sleuthing duo George Stobbart and Nico Collard in a rich and complex storyline.

Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse will be available for digital download via the Xbox Games Store and PSN, with a physical retail release also planned for Europe and EMEA territories, with the game's introduction included as a graphic novel.

“We are delighted to bring Broken Sword 5 to PS4 and Xbox One - with enhancements over the other versions including additional animation and audio, a character gallery section and many console-specific enhancements," said Revolution Software CEO & Founder Charles Cecil.

"The Broken Sword games have a proud history on previous PlayStation and Xbox consoles. There is such a loyal following for the Broken Sword games, as demonstrated by the 15,000 fans who backed the original Kickstarter campaign – it’s fantastic to now be able to bring the game to all those console owners who have requested that we write the game for their favourite platform.”

You'll be able to become embroiled in Stobbart and Collard's investigation into a murderous conspiracy, the roots of which lie in mysteries that pre-date the written word, and solve unique puzzles when Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse heads to Xbox One and PS4 in summer 2015.

  • Didn't know this series still is a thing Played part 1-3 but I didn't like part 3 which I believe also came out for the original XBox. Then part 4 came out somewhat around 2007 I think but got critically panned and I thought the series was done. Judging from the screenshots they go back to the roots with this one. Also I didn't know the actual title of the series since it got a totally different name in Germany and I believe in France as well. I guess I'll try this out. In case you don't know what this is: Its a point&click adventure like Monkey Island
  • Loved the first two!
  • This is great news I love BS1-3 Another day one buy for me Unless i die before its release date
  • I had no idea this was a thing... props to the Kickstarter backers who invested this, they have done us all a favour.
  • Hopefully they bring 1-4 next!
  • The goat from the first game makes an appearance, so I'm sold
  • Didn't know there was a 4, but I'm excited. Hopefully they re-release 1 & 2 as well if this does well.
  • The first two have already been released, but only on PC and handhelds. I like 3 and 4, but I'm probably in the minority there. 5 is great, going back to the roots whilst staying fresh. Thankfully the goat puzzle wasn't anything like as fiendish this time around.
