SEGA and Pokémon developer Game Freak have announced that Tembo the Badass Elephant launches later this month for Xbox One, PS4 and PC as a digitally downloadable game. A 2D side-scrolling platform action adventure, spread across 18 levels, the game has a "unique art style" and "tongue-in-cheek" humour that "encapsulates classic console mascot games", according to SEGA.

“We don’t think there’s a single game out there with a better name and hope that consumers will stampede the digital marketplaces in order to get their hands on this mammoth adventure!” said SEGA Europe's Commercial Publishing VP John Clark.

Tembo the Badass Elephant will be stomping onto Xbox One, PS4 and PC on 21st July 2015 for £9.99/$14.99/€12.99 with a 10% launch discount for PlayStation Plus subscribers and Xbox Live Gold members. Watch the announcement trailer again below if you haven't already.

  • Another one on my list this month
  • Been looking forward to this. Wish it was $10 but still not bad. Anyone else seem to be buying more indie games this gen than AAA titles?
  • Looking forward to this one!
  • I'm really looking forward to this game, looks great.
  • @2 seems to be little more retail games but I do love indie titles
  • I still find it sad that Sega is now pretty much just mobile. So we have to expect to see more run of the mill sidescroller games like this,
  • Game Freak & Sega? Interesting, never heard anything about this game. Is Game Freak capable of pulling something off different than Pokemon? This is the first I'll try of theirs other than Pokemon to be fai.
  • @2 I just went through my list and counted 23 or so.That count may include a few of the GwG games, but I did leave off a most of them.Yeah, I do find myself buying more Indy games this gen.Mainly because of the games quality has improved a great deal. We still get crap, but for the most part the games are pretty ace.I only regret 2 purchases. We are Doomed and Funk of Titans *bashes head against wall* I was going to buy this day one no matter what.Only $20 would have made me hesitate.$15 is a little higher than I'd like. $10-$12 would have been perfect.Getting the gold discount is a happy median I guess. The game seems to suffer from a bad frame rate.Other than that it looks like a lot of fun.
  • I agree that $10 would be the sweet spot.
  • £9.99/$14.99?? They converted it right??? Madness
